Just left this restaurant. I was celebrating my birthday. My table was told to quiet down for interrupting the atmosphere so large parties need not attend. The manager was very nice and pleasant about it though. Service however was terrible. No one received a refill on water, 4 people requested additional beverages, nothing. Checks took over 30 minutes to come even after request. Food was over salted and hard to eat with no water refills. read more

I am writing a review because I have been to this Cheddars in the past on three occasions and had poor service twice. neither of those times did I leave a review. But I love the atmosphere and the food enough to give it another shot. Today, a work group of 11, went right at 11 a.m. We called ahead and arrived on time and we had the BEST service ever. I give it 5 stars. I must give the utmost props to the young, very energetic and Super Friendly waiter we had today. He was friendly, prompt, attentive and very social with our group. A true asset to the business. He renewed our faith in this Cheddars location and I hope they see the true value of his worth!! As always the food was great and my hat's off to the culinary staff. I recently went here for lunch with 2 of my friends. We were seated quickly and the waitor seemed to be friendly. Overall the service was good. The reason I chose to rate it at a three is because of the food. It was pretty average. We all shared an order of onion rings which were okay, I'm not going to say they were bad but they weren't amazing. I ordered the jalapeño burger and it was overloaded with cheese and was pretty flavorless. My friend ordered a dip that was way too salty. They were good in terms of portions for your money, but personally I'd prefer to have less for better taste. Overall I might go back and try something different on the menu only because of the good service. read more

Horrible experience. We stopped in for dinner on our way to St Louis and our waitress took our order and never came back as we watched her go to three tables around us and serve them. We went there with a group of about a dozen on a Sunday evening. They were able to seat us very quickly. There service was a little spotty - a couple of the plates were incorrect (missing side items) but the errors were corrected very quickly when pointed out. The food ranged from excellent to just OK. I had a Caesar salad that was terrific: the romaine was fresh and crisp, the dressing was some of the best I've ever had, and the parm had a fresh taste and a nice texture. I also had the chicken tenders with steamed broccoli and cole slaw. The cole slaw was good, although perhaps a bit sweet for my personal taste. The steamed broccoli had a bit of sauce but tasted like it had been cooked earlier in the day and then reheated. The tenders were nicely battered and well-cooked, but the breading was bland. I had to add a lot of salt and that still didn't help. The portions are large at a reasonable price. read more

Greasy, bland food. The only thing my son and i could recommend is the lemonade. I think i would have rather gone to taco bell, better and cheaper prices. However, i would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is constipated, the chicken fried steak will have a rapid relief ( release ). read more

Cheddar's gets 1 star because I cannot give them 0 stars. My daughter had a basketball tournament in Columbia (Show Me State Games) where we first discovered Cheddar's a year ago. It was wonderful so we decided to go again this tournament. This time it was a larger group. We were seated quickly and that's where the train began to come off the rails. Our waitress was not very friendly, did not refill drinks and was m.i.a. for most of our experience. It took nearly 1 hour to get any of our party's food (i.e. appetizers and not even everything.) While other guests came in after us and received their food (entree's) before us. My 3 year old son was extremely patient but in the end we left without eating. By the way, I ordered a Caesar salad, club sandwich and my son had chicken tenders. Tough order! My wife and daughter were finally eating their appetizers so they paid the bill. When told to remove our items from the bill since we had left due to the wait the manager was extremely rude to my wife. Apparently, the customer is not always right and this restaurant, at least is not actually for dining. We will NOT be going back. read more

My wife and I enjoy Cheddar's nationwide. We are currently staying in the Columbia area for a couple of days so we felt that a fix of Cheddar's WONDERFUL onion rings was what we needed. Luck was with us as we found a PRIME parking space by the door even though the restaurant was packed. We had no wait and were seated in the bar area. Our waiter turned out to be Mitch who was very charming and informative. However, he GREATLY disappointed us when he informed us after we ordered that they were out of onion rings. That was UNFORGIVEABLE in our eyes! So we bypassed any type of appetizer - you just cannot beat their onion rings. My wife and I each ordered the sweet heat chicken & shrimp. Mitch did a good job of determining IF there was any olive oil in any of the food since I am deathly allergic to it. The meal was utter perfection! the chicken was cooked just right and remained juicy and delicious over a bed of ginger rice. The shrimp had just the right amount of heat and the salad completed the delicious meal. However, I must say that whoever is responsible for the cleaning of the shrimp that the could do a better job and ensure that they have cleaned out ALL of the poop when they devein the shrimp. My wife had one that was gross to look at and she did not eat it. We each had two rounds of drinks and finished off with 2 mini-desserts - one key lime pie and one strawberry cheesecake. My wife's second beer had a gnat in it but I doubt that he drank much so we just got him out and threw him aside. There was MUCH more right with this evening than wrong but I suggest that you work on the three items that I mentioned above - 1) Ensure that you have enough onion rings to last the day and don't run out for customers who arrive at 6:00 p.m., 2) Devein the shrimp thoroughly and remove all the poop before cooking, 3) Don't let the gnats drink the beer unless they have been properly carded. Went to Cheddars tonight upon recommendation of a friend and a lady friend really was wanting to have some of their bacon/potato soup again. Waiter apologized about 3 times but she never got her soup till she was almost through with her sandwich(which was nothing to brag about). I had the cornbread battered catfish and it was the worst I've eaten from almost every bragging catfish place in the United States. The batter was good, crisp and done.....but the catfish inside was almost raw(slimy when it should have been flakey)! I tried two of the five pieces and didn't find one worth eating. Since I was trained as an Army cook, I'm guessing they put some frozen fish into a boiling grease and it only cooked the outside batter! I had a stuffed baked potato and some country green bean(s)....barely enough to make them plural! Wellllll, I been there , done that and got burned ......so I suggest if you want a good meal.....try somewhere else. I don't give them a second chance! Johnny D read more

We have been to Cheddar's three separate occasions. I do not mind the wait for a table, as the food has been excellent and plentiful, however, I do mind being skipped over on the waiting list to be seated on all three occasions!!! Twice with a party of four and once with a party of two. When I noted folks being seated that came in well after us and went up and asked, they managed, as the other two times to seat us immediately but the hostess staff never ever offered an apology!!!! I say once and maybe twice is forgivable and we did come back, but have seen other people experience the same issue while there. Our waiter did try to rectify the situation for us and was wonderful, but I am just not sure the lack of organziation and high level of confusion at the hostess station stands up to the food. read more

Skimpy portions, hair in the food, terrible service, the bathroom floor was covered in piss, food was cold and took a very long time to actually come out from the kitchen. The tortilla chips were very stale. They tried to upsell drinks before they would give us a refill. Forgot to bring stuff we ordered, and they had us hand them our plates to clear the table. First time ever dining at Cheddars because of past comments from friends and encountered unsatisfactory service. Tried to order from 2 different items on the "favorites" section of menu but could not because the restaurant ran out of the the menu items. When the food came to my table the pico de gallo was missing from my dish and was informed they also ran out of that! Really? You can't even keep up with supplying a condiment with a meal? So I was charged full price for an incomplete meal. A gentleman did approach my table and just gave me a bunch of excuses and apologized and did absolutely nothing to compensate for our inconvenience. I will never eat or recommend your restaurant to any one. Maybe should call Chef Ramsey to help out the staff there. The only thing that was really good was our server who was very attentive and extremely polite., she was the only part of the visit to Cheddars that was pleasant. read more

Our first time at this Cheddar's was Friday evening. There was a long line to be seated but sat at a high table in the bar and didn't have to wait. Our waiter was friendly and the service was good but the food left a lot to be desired. My wife wanted her burger very well done but it still had some pink in it and I ordered the "Cornmeal Catfish" which I'd hoped would be nice and crispy. It was somewhat soggy but they sure give you a bunch of it which we brought home to the cats, but they wouldn't eat it either. Prices are very competitive, just wish the food preparation was better. Overall, just an average place, not worth waiting long for a table, though. read more

We were given a 20 minute wait time and got our table in less (maybe 12 or so minutes) although the waiting area was full of people. My boyfriend had the sirloin and ribs with mashed potatoes and I ordered the honey mustard chicken with green beans and Mac n cheese. I got a house salad as well and it came out before my meal just like I asked. Everything was delicious!!!! He said the ribs were amazing and they literally fell off the bone, the food was served quickly, the temp was good and our server Kalvin was exceptional. He was polite, attentive and didn't make us feel rushed to eat but also didn't forget about us even though they were very busy. He offered us refills and dessert and thanked us. The ONLY disappointment of this trip is that they were out of their amazing croissants, which was only because they were busy. This trip would have been five stars otherwise! I highly recommend ordering those right when you sit down!! We were just passing through Columbia but I will definitely be back the next time I'm in town! The bill was less than $40 which is very reasonable for the quality of the food. read more

My wife and I went opening week so we expected it to be busy and it was. The bar top is open seating so we slid into a couple of open spots and skipped the 30-40 min wait. The service was friendly, the food was overall good. My wifes chicken fried steak was a little tough. The food was okay however the service was horrendous! The waiter forgot the salads and when we inquired he said he'd be right back. He then brought our entrees and the salads together. Not one "I apologize". One of our guests meal arrived with extra globs of something on her plate. After trying to get the attention of one of the servers, which I was unable to do, I finally got up and wondered around the restaurant to find our server or manager. Never found either one but did ask several other servers to have the manager come to our table. When we showed him the globs of unidentified objects on the plate he said he would bring us a fresh one. IT TOOK FOREVER... Everyone at the table had finished their meal when the replacement meal finally arrived. AND IT CONTAINED THE WRONG SIDES!!! I felt so bad for my guest eating all alone. When the waiter brought the check he then became very apologetic. Seriously??? I also would like to mention that they weren't even busy. Lots of empty tables. The manager needs to do some serious training or hire more experienced servers and kitchen help!!! I can say that was my first and last visit to Cheddar's! read more

The only reason I am giving this place one star is because the food is good The service is a joke. My family came in from out of town and I wanted to take them somewhere nice so I thought of cheddars. Needless to say I was quickly embarrassed by my decision to take them there. It took forever for a server to even come to our table. Then it took so long to get drinks I forgot we had even ordered them. The food took over 50 minutes and it was not busy in the restaurant so there was no excuse. When our food finally came the order was completely messed up . I asked to speak with a manger afterwords just to tell her how disappointed I was. She asked if I wanted my bill adjusted and I told her no we will pay for the food because the food was good. It didn't really seem like she even gave a crap that I was upset. We still tipped the server 10% but she did not deserve anything. Worst service ever I would recommend staying away from this place. read more
