The lady at the register called me honey... in the best possible, friendly, southern hospitality way. She yelled my order back to the line, and it wasn't long before I could dig in. I had the regular chicken sandwich, hold the sauce because I put mayo from the cantina area on it - and subbed in fried mushrooms as my side. I cannot express how excited I was to see fried mushrooms on the menu! That alone added a star to this review! I will always order fried mushrooms if I see them on a menu! The shrooms seemed hand breaded, like the chicken on my sandwich, just with different breading.. All was GBD (golden, brown, delicious for those unfamiliar!). I certainly got my fried chicken fix satisfied! Everything was tasty. While everything I got was fried, I wouldn't go so far as to say it was super greasy. I would say that napkins were an absolute must though. It's not a place for the feint of heart, if you're worried about your health -- it's hand breaded and fried y'all. So there will be some greasy fingers and yummy, salty, fried deliciousness. It's a pretty good stop for fast food, fried chicken. My son and I raved over the fries, and the wrap alone is worth a 5 star review. I like that they have many sauces to choose from. The customer service was pretty good, but the wait time took a little bit and that could be due to the fact of our order and everything being fresh. It is a chicken place so when you see the menu you want to go straight for the tenders and see how it compares to Raising Cane's, I would forgo the tenders unless you do the wrap and go for the wings instead. read more

My buffalo wings were slightly underwhelming. They were *perfectly* fried, crispy and the right size....but the sauce was kind of generically good. That written, I make my own buffalo sauce, so I might be overly critical. The Korean BBQ chicken strips were AWESOME. Whatever sauce they are using for that I would use it for everything, the perfect balance of sweet and heat. The tenders were very well breaded and crisp as well. I was a Zaxby's loyalist for years, but Slim Chickens has turned me. This is the best chicken finger place in Columbia. Their food is always piping hot and fresh, and they offer a plethora of sauces in comparison to Zaxby's, which gives you little to no options on their combo meals. I'd recommend the chicken finger combos. Their fries are great and you can get several sauces to try based on your preferences. Multiple slices of toast is a nice touch too. read more

I tried Slim chickens for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised I ordered a Cayenne chicken sandwich with fries and a soft drink. The chicken was basically a whole breast that was not overcooked. The chicken was to see you and definitely had a little spice from the cayenne pepper sauce. The fries were season and we're pretty good as served. As far as pricing went it was pretty much what you would expect for a value meal for a fast food place The only downside was the restaurant dining area was a little bit warm. Fried chicken is more moist with a thin coating of batter (Different from Zaxby's thick battered fried chicken). There's definitely a creamy taste on chicken, which is unique. I don't recommend wings though. I haven't tried their salads yet. read more

I tried out the newest Columbia business offering chicken. I thought it was pretty good and they had a nice variety of dishes to choose from. My main complaint is that it's extremely hard to tell where the entrance is because the light there is so poor. They have only boneless chicken and maybe bone-in chicken wings (can't remember for sure). The usual variety of chicken strips in original or tossed in hot sauce. I was told you can order them grilled, but they will not ask you if you want them that way, but they are available. Fries were good and chicken looked like it was freshly breaded and fried. Tried out Slim Chicken last night and it was "ok" but wouldn't be my first choice of places to eat in Columbia. I had the garlic Parmesan wings (they only have bone-in no boneless wings) and they fried pickles. The wings were not too bad - weren't very warm though when I got them. The fried pickles were beyond salty and cut so thin you couldn't taste the pickle. I wouldn't order them again unless the salt for sure was cut. My mom had the wrap and really enjoyed it. My dad had the chicken sandwich and said it was just "ok." The staff was friendly but we had a hard time finding a place to sit as none of the booths had been wiped down. The chicken was fresh, moist and crispy. The dipping sauces were amazing, we especially loved the ranch and mango habanero. We tried the brownie Heath bar dessert and the strawberry cheesecake. The strawberries were freshly cut and made the dessert outstanding. One star is already too much for this establishment. My friends and I saw an advertisement claiming free food from "10-12pm" if we showed a student ID. So naturally, as poor college students, we decided to take advantage of the offer. Love this place! I've been to other chicken places and this is by far one of the top chicken places in the area. Their chicken is full of flavor, juicy and crunchy. The service is amazon, people are always friendly and work quickly. I've gotten two different meals here and both have been very good, filling and priced right. The atmosphere is casual and inside is always clean. It's open and family friendly. The kids always get crayons and a sheet of a paper to color. We don't wait too long for our food and it's always served warm. Haven't come across a piece of fat or dry chicken, it really is super underrated! This beats canes chicken any day. I love that Slims carries sauces and ranch that canes doesn't (why? Is beyond me.) their drinks are amazing. I LOVE peach tea and only see it at places like Olive Garden but they have it here and it's amazing! The kids meals are VERY generous and their Texas toast is delicious, better than DQs for sure.
