I always have a good experience when I come to Firehouse. The staff is always friendly and it's a clean, well-kept store. The subs themselves are always delicious. My personal favorite is the Hook and Ladder which has ham and turkey combined. Firehouse is more expensive than a place like Subway but the sandwiches are that much better as well. The service was terrible. When we ordered the worker only spoke to us to tell us our total. The food was not good, Mac and cheese is $5 and it was cold. Condiments on sandwiches tasted expired and the inside smells like rotten eggs and old spaghetti flavored tacos. I want to start by saying that I LOVE Firehouse Subs. My co worker always buys them for us for lunch. I've never heard of this business before working with her. Today I decided to order them on my own. It was my first time using the app. I accidentally ordered my sandwich without bread. I told the man at the counter & he went to tell the manger. They both returned to the counter with condescending attitudes. The manager was literally talking about me while I was standing right there. Then he tells me that he would remake it this time but I should pay attention. I was baffled because I knew I made a mistake. I had no problem with purchasing just bread on the side. I also never asked for my sandwich to be remade. I didn't like the way they made me feel. It was like I was the worst customer and this was the biggest inconvenience. When my sandwich was remade, they slapped my box on the counter, didn't put it in a new bag or even the old bag & walked away. I couldn't even say thank you or that I apologize... so I just shook my head & said "great customer service". I don't think I'll ever return again. read more

Our very first time at any Firehouse Subs and the subs were delicious! I had read about Firehouse Subs in an article and how they were some of the best fast food chain subs in America, so when we saw that there were quite a few in Missouri during our trip we just had to drop by one of them. We came thru on a Sunday afternoon and it was quiet here at first, but there were a few customers that dropped in shortly after we sat down. The employees here were extremely friendly to us from the get go. They asked if we we had been to a Firehouse Subs before, which we hadn't, and they explained the menu, how to order and the add-on items to us. They eventually asked the same question to subsequent customers, so I assume it was policy to always ask confused looking customers (like us). The menu was simple though. There were 10 different specialty subs that customers could choose from or, if customers are feeling adventurous, they could build their own. The subs came in 3 sizes, small, medium and large. There were also some salad options as well, but the subs were the highlight. My girlfriend and I ended up ordering 2 large subs - The Italian and Club Sub - fully involved. Fully involved meaning you want all the free add-on items, such as, mayo, deli mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion, and a kosher dill pickle on the side. To summarize, the large subs were hugggggeeeee! Although I was able to finish the entire sub, it was extremely filling. The subs were filled to the brim with meat so they definitely do not cheat you there. They were well made too, delicious and the premium meats were very fresh. I've had Jersey Mike's before and I think Firehouse Subs beats it out by a mile, mainly because of the generous portion of meat that we were given and freshness of it. I would assume, with all chains, that this Firehouse Subs serves the same menu, so no one will be surprised by it. However, the service here was excellent. We were given a run down of how to order, what the menu consisted of, what the employee's favorites were and were brought our order once it was ready. The employees greeted us when we walked in and when we left as well. I went to Firehouse sub right after they opened for the day. FIREHOUSE subs is my favorite sandwich place but not very friendly and I ordered a Large Steak and Cheese sub and enjoyed half of my sandwich and I had the other half of the sandwich was cold...not cool but COLD. I asked if I could have them make me a warmer sandwich and the did and the second bite out of that sandwich was ice cold! I wasn't going to ask again but VERY DISAPPOINTED in my experience that day. Temporary revised hours were posted on the door and I arrived approximately 30 minutes prior to close. An employee clearly saw me enter and was CLEARLY annoyed a customer came inside. Generally, they welcome customers in with a "welcome to Firehouse". Instead, said employee immediately told me lettuce, tomato and meatballs were not available and asked if I still wanted to order? Did not order and left to find another option. Never felt quite so unwelcome in a public place. As the name suggests, it's a firehouse themed sub (deli) sandwich shop. Judging by the artwork and flyers, there's a strong, local tie in to Mizzou and the fire department in Columbia. Lots of opportunities to donate change for good causes and such. The sandwiches are simply off the chart. Freshly made and served hot on white or wheat bread, they are huge and amazingly tasty. If you normally get a 12 inch at another chain, I suggest a six inch here--they're that hearty. The bacon was crispy, generously layered, and had a strong hickory/maple flavor. The mayo and other seasonings were balanced properly and the whole sandwich was neatly put together. Servers were friendly and brought the food to my table. Restroom was clean and well stocked. Store itself was bright, clean, and had plenty of seating. Doesn't get much better than this in the world of inexpensive dining. read more

Terrible customer service!!! I ordered from the wrong location and asked them if they could re-route it to the other location. They said they could cancel but I would have to come in and get a cash refund. I was like, "What, that is the whole point I am canceling?" I love this sandwich shop! They have the best subs in Columbia as far as I'm concerned. I've tried three different kinds, but always keep going back to the Club on a Sub. It is fantastic. I think it must be the ham that really takes this sandwich over the top. It has ham, turkey and bacon and who doesn't love bacon on their sandwich! I've never gotten anything other than the regular sized sub and it is more than enough food. They serve the regular variety of chips and pickle offerings. Soda offerings are Coke products in the big pick your flavor machine. The medium meal deal is just a shade under $10 and I always donate up to the next dollar amount to the firefighters fund. I usually love firehouse, and I will go back but if you ever try to call the store you should ask for a manager. I tried to tell them that there was something in my sandwich that wasn't suppose to be there and I could tell it wasn't a manager because he sat in silence for 2 minutes before saying anything and then hung up the phone with no real resolution. If it would have been tomato instead of onion, it would have been a lawsuit. So please ask for a manger if you call them. read more

I could not be more impressed with a quick casual restaurant in Columbia as we have been with firehouse subs. We have been coming in more due to the customer service and quality of the product. There is a individual by the name of josh that is beyond amazing at his job. He smiled the whole time and how he talked to the other employees there just made us think that this is a great place to work. It says he is a manager on his name tag but doesn't say if he is the general manager, assistant, or a shift manager. But if I was this company I would sure make sure he was running one of my stores or maybe a trainer that goes to all stores because he knows how to talk to and make guest feel great. We ordered a Vegy sub and it was the best sub that we have ever gotten from there or any place in Columbia! I love how you guys donate to firefighters and fire responders, that truly is an amazing cause. Please make sure that this young man and the team knows how great of a job they are doing.
