We decided to get Penn Station for lunch while visiting Columbia for work. It's a franchise and decorated accordingly. It looks like every other Penn Station. The place was clean. Service was good. Wow! This place is legit! I have never been to a Penn Station before. My wife and I were passing through town and I wanted to have a good sandwich for lunch. I got on yelp and saw this place with five stars. I'm a sucker for a good Italian sub. If you come here you'll find a great Italian sub. Get it grilled hot! My wife had the chicken cordon bleu and was raving about it. We did not try the multi grain bread, but the white bread was absolute perfection. I would highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner. Will be back next time we're in the area. read more

During my first visit to Penn Station, two gentlemen were very kind and helpful. I was unsure when to use my student ID, and they guided me through the process. However, a woman with a long brown ponytail was quite unkind and outright rude when I presented my student ID at the end. She made snarky comments towards me and my group, expressing her frustration about having to re-ring everything because of us. It felt as if she was blaming us for not knowing better. While I had initially wanted to return to this location, her behavior has made me decide to avoid this Penn Station in the future. I've worked in food service before, so I understand that bad days happen, but there is no excuse for treating a customer that way Her expect words " From now on you should know better." I was there on 12/21/2024 at 11:50am and that is the last time I will ever go there thank you to just that woman. read more

My wife and I will stop by Penn Station on the way home from visiting with a relative. Even though it is far from our home the food and service we receive from there will keep us coming back. Only issue that I have is wanting too but am unable to add tip for the staff when paying with a credit card. I hope Penn Station is able to add the tip option for walk in customers who pay with a credit card. I have the Penn Station app on my phone but have yet to complete and order from there. If using the app will get the tip to all the Penn Station Service staff I will use that in the future, if not please consider adding the credit card tip option for customers who want to tip for the great service my wife and I have always receive at the Columbia Penn Station!!! read more

Pobodys nerfect and the few times they have messed up my order it has always been resolved in a satisfactory manner. Came here on day 1. The line was very long but it moved fast! Service was great and everyone was really friendly. I ordered the monthy speical which was a Steak Philly, fries, and a drink. The guys asked if I wanted pizza sauce (which I had never tried) so I asked for it on the side. It was pretty good! Overall great start to a good chain. read more

I finally tried Penn Station after hearing many positive things and it did not disappoint. They have a great variety of options for sandwiches and sizes (who likes to be limited to 6" or 12"). The Philly Cheesesteak is about as close to Geno's in Philadelphia (lived there for a few years) as you'll find anywhere in Mid-Missouri! DELICIOUS!! The pizza sauce add on throws unique spin/zing on this classic sandwich. Fries are fresh, pop is fizzy fresh, the staff are super friendly, the dining area is very clean and well looked after. The owner greeted us immediately & after standing around for a bit while we waited it was clear he takes great pride in his business! The location is ideal for us, in an ever growing hub on the south side of Columbia and super easy to get in and get out of for us (one right turn in & one out). In these times people are to be treated with respect and great customer service, especially when risking their health to pick up food that they have paid their hard earned money for. No longer should pick up orders be taken for granted but be valued more so during this pandemic. I went into this location, waited patiently to pick up my order that I had place online. While standing there, I was passed up by an employee THREE times. As I continued to stand there for three to four more minutes a Caucasian man proceeded to enter the location and this same employee that previously walked passed me proceeded to help this customer. As an African American female who manages a retail business not only is this unacceptable customer service, but also unacceptable and baffling behavior as well as an avoidable discriminatory experience. Once she completed her services with the man she then "saw" me as if I had moved or just entered the restaurant. Recon, I am a woman of a darker complexion, in a long black coat, and a glittery gold mask standing directly in front of the cash register in a restaurant with salmon colored walls. To make matters worse, when I approached the manager strictly just about my customer service experience (not mentioning race) he reacted as if he did not care, walked away without words, did not offer up an apology on her behalf nor did he seem empathetic of the experience I just received at his establishment. I will never step foot or spend a dime at this location ever again, and will advise that if in need of any type off decent customer service to avoid this location as well. read more

I have never eaten at Penn Station because it is on the far side of town until now. the food was good the people working the were very polite and helpful. they have the best fries in town. they are hand cut and cooked to order so always hot when you get them. I got a small order but from now on I'm getting at least a medium or large..the bread was not like the other sub stores. it was soft and easy to bite through not hard. it seems a small thing but the water cups were twice as big than what you get other places so i didn't have to run to the water fountain every 5 minutes. can't wait to go back read more

I tried this place out yesterday. Had the reuben, fries and lemonade. The sandwich was one of the best subs I've ever had, just delicious. The fries were hot, fresh and tasted like home made. I was really looking forward to trying the fresh squeezed lemonade, but was slightly disappointed with it. I was expecting something similar to what you get at carnivals, but it wasn't as good. While I appreciate the taste, the actual sandwiches served are NOTHING like the ones pictured in the Penn Station advertisements. There is plenty of toasted bread, but in Columbia, MO the sandwiches are virtually void of meat and other toppings. The staff is great, but I do not see the value in a $5-$10 (depending on the size) toasted cheese sandwich. I've never lived in a place that had a Penn Station Subs so I was excited to check it out (this was a couple of months ago). My sandwich tasted good and the fries were hot, fresh and crisp. The amount of meat on my sandwich was disappointing though--there was barely enough to get a taste. Also, the girl who took my order was a bit odd--I couldn't tell if she was uninterested in her job or if she just had poor communication skills. Either way, my interaction with her was weird and it made me a little less excited for my sandwich. I'm not sure if I'll go back--Subway and Quizno's are cheaper and their customer service is better.
