Tell the chef the "grits after 2 pm" freak sent ya. The ladies and gent here are so nice and make a weary traveller feel welcome. :) You've gotta try the blackberry cobbler! Im working my way down the pie list. The place is clean - kind of unusual for a non-chain diner. The decor is cute country but they stopped the "cute" prior to your needing an airline sickness bag. Cracker Barrel wishes they looked like this. Good home cooking comfort type food. Tons of rig parking, a boot and antique stores nearby and a motel for your food coma. Update: 12/26/14 Just had a reuben and onion rings and they were the BEST onion rings I've ever had anywhere. Period. I was told Mike cooked them. Give that man a raise!! Strawberry cobbler to go. To go box tucked in a little bag under my arm. My precious. My preeeeeecious.

We had two specials. Sloppy joes and chicken salad in a croissant. Very tasty. Missy our waitress was very personable. Clean.

Definitely not my favorite spot, but on a truck you don't always have a choice. Easy parking, employees are lacking

I believe Flyover could be a strong contender for my favorite restaurant in mid Missouri. Our…read morewaitress was sweet and attentive - dinner moved along, but was paced nicely. My drink had a rose petal in it, but that little touch didn't feel contrived or cheeky - it was just a nice pop of color in a great-tasting drink. The baked Boursin cheese was absolutely amazing - I walked out of there realizing I probably ate half a wheel of cheese, and I totally didn't regret it. Dinner was the highlight - I ordered the boom boom shrimp - served on a bed of sushi rice, there were mangos, thinly sliced jalapeños, purple cabbage, shrimp fried to perfection, and a nicely flavored boom boom sauce on top. My only criticism of this place is that plates come out of the kitchen as they make them, so be prepared to share a dish or wait. We were halfway through my dinner before my friend's fish and chips arrived. I'm happy to share, but I'm not a fan of this dining trend. Overall fantastic dinner experience!!

We got the La Chingona which was maybe a bit too smokey and an old fashioned. For dinner we're shared the Mediterranean meatballs which were beautifully presented and tasty. The star of the evening was the EO larb which had amazing flavor. Overall we had an excellent meal and look forward to our next visit.

Had really high hopes for this place after a long day on the road. The menu looked inventive and…read moreamazing. Things started out well, the BF had a tasty Manhattan and I had a mocktail that was subtle and delicious, and not overpriced as mocktails often are. But alas. The house salads that we ordered were overdressed in a vinaigrette so acidic we couldn't finish them. And there wasn't much to them. Other than greens and fried shallots and pickled red onions, there was a tiny dusting of some finely grated cheese. And who needs two kinds of onions and nothing else on the salad? Then we each had a bowl of the matzo ball soup, which was ridiculous. Three matzo balls sitting in a quarter-inch of broth that was so unbelievably salty that we couldn't eat that either. We ended up asking for hot water to dilute the broth to a level of saltiness that was edible. The chicken was okay and the matzo balls were okay. A little gummy. But the broth was just awful. It all made me wonder if the chef had lost their sense of taste due to Covid or something. Seriously. I've had that happen to me a couple of times and all I could taste was really basic stuff like sour and salt. And our waitress was totally uninterested in trying to make our experience better. She wasn't rude, she was just indifferent to the fact that we'd been served two courses that we absolutely couldn't eat. Didn't offer us anything to compensate or even express any sympathy about it. We got out of there as fast as we could and made ourselves feel better with an Andy's frozen custard.

It's a little hidden away, but honestly, if you have your windows down, just follow the smell of smoked BBQ and you'll find it. As soon as I walked in, the smoky aroma hit me in the best way possible. It immediately made me want something off the smoker, even though I was only planning on a lighter lunch. I sat at the bar and was greeted by Grace, who was friendly, attentive, and quick to bring over a menu and get my drink started. Since it was my first visit and I wasn't overly hungry, I asked Grace what she recommended. She suggested the smoked wings, so I went with those. They came out pretty quickly, and before long I had a dozen golden-brown smoked wings in front of me. They were excellent. The wings had great smoky flavor, were cooked perfectly, and weren't dried out like smoked wings sometimes can be. The portion was generous, too. I only made it through six and saved the rest for dinner, which was a nice bonus. Overall, D. Rowe's made a great first impression. Good food, friendly service, and that amazing BBQ smell from the moment you walk in. I'll definitely be back.

The Menu is packed full of salivating descriptions. We will be back to try other items, despite my disappointment in the burger. My daughter loves the pulled pork sandwich on the gluten-free bun, and my wife enjoyed her chicken bacon club sandwich. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with onion rings. I find if a restaurant can get a bacon cheeseburger and onion rings right they're worth a second go. I read in the description of this restaurant that they have generous portions, I order onion rings at five onion rings, that's not generous in my book. The onion rings were greasy and clearly fried in the same oil that fish is fried in. My wife and I had completely opposite experiences with the bun, she said hers was light and fresh. Mine was cold and stale. The burger tasted as if it was a hard pressed frozen patty that have been microwaved. I'm sure it wasn't microwaved. It just had that dense bland flavor in texture. The environment was definitely family friendly, and our server "Emma" was very sweet. She was not overbearing, nor was she absent. Like I said, we will be back, but I won't order the burger and onion rings ever again.
