Wonderful dinner with my friend. Kind staff, quick service. One of my favorite places in Columbia.

Ambiance is dim and comforting. Very nostalgic for those who came here as a kid.

I've been going to G&D for the last 30 years. As a kid growing up in Columbia, and neighbors of "Mom & Dad", we went here almost every Sunday. We just visited again today and it was just as good as it was when I was 10! I had a Gyro and it was delicious. The baklava was sweet and tasty and the salad was nostalgic. The service was helpful and the ambiance was comforting. This is a family run and owned restaurant. Keep that in mind. If you haven't been to this gem of Midwest, you're missing out.

One of the parent in my son's hockey club suggested G&D Steakhouse which is along the way going to Kansas for the team's hockey tournament. We played early on a Sunday and so we had time to eat lunch on the way back. The place is just beside Texas Roadhouse, like you pass by TR first before going to G&D, and we love Texas Roadhouse, but still went on going here. And it didn't disappoint.. It's not the usual high end steakhouse but I love the ambiance coming in. You will need to order up front.. it's unusual but I love it.. no need to wait for an available waiter, and their menu is clearly shown on boards on top. It reminds me of the Sugarfire BBQ place (our favorite) in St. Louis.. This being a skeakhouse, it's a no brainer. My wife and I got the 14oz Ribeye and my son got the Sirloin. The steaks come standard with baked potato and house salad. The side salads are on trays, you grab one, then put on croutons and bacon bits, then choose a dressing.. there are 5 choices I think.. I got the thousand islands and it was great! There are several dessert available as well, we grabbed the baklava.. You then choose your table and wait for your food. It came less than 10 minutes which is pretty amazing.. The steak was on the bland side, but I love the tenderness of medium cooked steak. They offer steak sauces and also the OPA Greek rubs that you can add to your steak for more taste. The baked potato is good as well. We enjoyed the food for the price. It's really an experience and would definitely come back if we are around the area.

Fantastic local place that has been around for 40+ years. Looks small on the outside but probably seats 100+ diners. Our order was taken near the front door, we sat down, and our food was served within minutes. No numbers, no raising of our hand, they just found us. It gave me the vibes of a 1970s Western Sizzlin back when Western Sizzlin was in its prime. I feel very sorry for all the people that were at Texas Roadhouse in the same parking lot because they were definitely missing a local experience and probably had to wait an hour for their table.

This was a very interesting dinner. When you enter you pay for your meal before you sit down. Then you go through a make your own salad bar. After this you sit down and the server brings your food. The food overall is pretty bland but the steak still had a good medium rare cook as I asked for. If I go again I will not get the shrimp. Overall a decent meal definitely worth trying. It is a small restaurant though, my date and I shared the table with another random couple. We got our food within 12 minutes of ordering.

Once again, Yelp reviews helped us to find this gem of a place in Columbia, MO! After a long day driving, we wanted to try something delicious and G&D did not disappoint!! We were tired enough to order to go, but it was terrific to see the place full with people all enjoying their dinner. You can tell it's a popular family friendly place when you walk in and order up front & there are so many different choices. We settled on a gyro, souvlaki & fried ravioli (I had heard it's a MO favorite). The gentleman at the counter was super nice and the whole staff was doing a great job taking care of everyone. As far as the food goes, it was just what we had hoped! Both the gyro & souvlaki were well seasoned as were the fries plus the tatziki was really good too. I enjoyed the fried ravioli & the meat sauce it came with tasted homemade too. We did say we were disappointed in two things- that we didn't order dessert & that we live so far away.

My friend and I shared a pizza, a platter of wings, and a burnt ends plate. First of all- I was shocked how good the pizza was. Given I'm originally from NJ, I'm a bit of a pizza snob. But it was actually quite tasty. The platter of wings was solid. Not the biggest wings in the world, but the plate came with a bunch and the sauce was really good. And the burnt ends were phenomenal. Super tender, lots of flavor. The place itself was very lively- lots of happy, talking people getting ready for the night. Certainly a place to come to feel "energy". I also love how many of their ingredients are sourced locally, which really adds to the quality and uniqueness of each dish. On this visit, we shared the fried cheese curds and the brisket grilled cheese! We also happened to stop by for a jazz night, which was such a fun surprise. The live music totally elevated the atmosphere and made the evening feel special. That said, there's still a bit more they could do with the space -- it would be great to see more regular live music or special events to bring even more life to the room. Things started out well, the BF had a tasty Manhattan and I had a mocktail that was subtle and delicious, and not overpriced as mocktails often are. But alas. The house salads that we ordered were overdressed in a vinaigrette so acidic we couldn't finish them. And there wasn't much to them. Other than greens and fried shallots and pickled red onions, there was a tiny dusting of some finely grated cheese. And who needs two kinds of onions and nothing else on the salad? Then we each had a bowl of the matzo ball soup, which was ridiculous. Three matzo balls sitting in a quarter-inch of broth that was so unbelievably salty that we couldn't eat that either. We ended up asking for hot water to dilute the broth to a level of saltiness that was edible. The chicken was okay and the matzo balls were okay. A little gummy. But the broth was just awful. It all made me wonder if the chef had lost their sense of taste due to Covid or something. Seriously. I've had that happen to me a couple of times and all I could taste was really basic stuff like sour and salt. And our waitress was totally uninterested in trying to make our experience better. She wasn't rude, she was just indifferent to the fact that we'd been served two courses that we absolutely couldn't eat. Didn't offer us anything to compensate or even express any sympathy about it. We got out of there as fast as we could and made ourselves feel better with an Andy's frozen custard.
