Been going here for years! Moved to Columbia and was looking for falafels! Don't have to fight the downtown traffic. Always seem to have a table and food is out in a jiffy. Couldn't have picked better even for an outdoor catering event. It was a huge hit! read more

My husband picked up carne asada tacos from Med Mex while we were visiting my son in Columbia. My son told us that he and his girlfriend think these tacos are better than our favorite spot for street tacos in KC. I have to say, I agree! These were the best carne asada tacos I have had. We preferred the green sauce, but the red was good, too. I'd be here once a week if I lived in the area. It was very busy at 1:30 on a Saturday. I'd recommend calling ahead for a to go order. read more

The food here was very good. I got tacos with a side of beans and rice. The service was very slow however. It took 40 minutes for me to get my food to go. I walked in and was not warned it would take that long. The restaurant has a hole in the wall feel to it. Not a ton of sitting room but you could eat there if you would like. I was between a 3 and 4 for this review. The service speed and the expensive price weighed in negatively for me. I may return someday not in a huge rush to go back however. read more

The food was great!! It was hard to find but it was worth it it Was able to get in out even though it was busy!

The young guy manning the counter was very nice and answered all my questions . Food is good and quite reasonable prices . I got the order to go and the bag slid in the car so not the prettiest now. I realize they forgot my soup after I unpacked it all back at the hotel. Not worth going back into the cold for. read more

I was craving a gyro and wanted to try someplace good. I read a post on Facebook asking about the best gyro in town and MedMex was on that list. This place is AMAZING for gyros and the fries are good too! The ladies working were just a sweet as could be. It's a small little place but nice and clean. read more

Ordered ahead from online and got a few gyro wraps with fries. Tzatziki sauce on the side was great. Also ordered a side of pita bread & hummus and was very fresh! Was pretty busy at lunch time, but my order was ready when I arrived 25 minutes later. Absolutely will be returning! read more

Wig and I Had a Gyro and Quesadilla; both were great a lot of meat and the quesadilla with spiced chicken was incredible . Just a little hole in the wall mom and pop establishment in a strip mall but worth the stop. Also had Mexican Coke !! read more

Great food, good quantity for price. Stopped by on a road trip, will definitely stop again!

My real intention was to go to tropical cafe and get a smoothie and stumbled upon med mex cafe. So I decided to give it a shot as I was intrigued that it was Mediterranean and Mexican cuisine. The name is fitting. The cashier was very nice and gave me suggestions. I got a shawarma and gyro in falafel wrap and changed fries to a salad. Omggg it was so flavorful!! It is hard to find mediterranean food in Columbia Mo but this place is now on my list. I definitely will be back and I want to try the Mexican cuisine. read more

You want Mexican food? Your partner craving Mediterranean? Don't exactly know what you want? Don't worry, this place has you covered. It's counter service, but it comes out prompt and tastes great. One word of caution, seating is limited. read more

I was traveling with colleagues back to St. Louis from a conference in Kansas City. It was getting late, and Matt, riding shotgun, googled and found the Med Mex Cafe. It seemed slow at first, but no one seemed concerned or bothered. We discovered the reason people waited patiently was the outstanding delicious food. All three of us had Gyro variations, and all commented on the taste and experience as we ate. I should add that two of us were born and raised near the Mediterranean, so they should know. read more

I looked on Yelp for places near I-70 in Columbia as my dad drove my fiancé and I between St. Louis and Kansas City. I went on Yelp and thought this place looked most appealing so we decided to eat here. My fiancé and I shared a guarache (kind of an open faced taco) and gyro burrito and my dad had a shawarma platter. We also had refillable soft drinks. Everything was quite delicious and I love the concept of a Mexican and Mediterranean fusion place. The service was also friendly and fast. The food is very affordable also. My fiancé and dad thought it was 4.5 right where I was rating and I thought it was a 4. The only thing not giving this place five stars, is the higher quality Mediterranean and Mexican places where we have near us in the DC area. Nonetheless, I encourage those who are local and traveling across i-70 or visiting Columbia to try this innovative place. read more

Saw this when driving by and decided to check it out next time we got the chance. WE LOVED IT! Doesn't look like much when you walk in and the menu is pretty to-the-point but you shouldn't pass this place up. The owner talked us through the menu and gave us some great suggestions (Baba plate, Gyro w/ lamb, Asada taco, and Adobada taco). It came out super quick. Great flavors on everything. We are adding this place to our 'regulars' list and will definitely be back! read more

Usually this place is VERY GOOD. Yesterday (2 Apr 2024) we ordered two 3 taco plates with sides of rice and beans. We did carry out. When we got home we noticed hardly any refried beans in the carry out carton (both carry out cartons). This seems like a simlple affair. Whoever loaded the trays wasn't paying attention or frankly didn't care. I mean, there was less than an 1/8" of an inch of refried beans in the bottom of the tray with a small spot of cheese for appearance purposes. Normally I would rate this place a 5 but not this time. I may try it again in a few months just because I've held it in such high reguard in the past. I hope this was a one time event. read more

Friendly staff, great quality food, what more can you ask? Will definitely be coming here again.

Mom, dad & kids give this place 5 stars. The food was absolutely delicious and authentic. The chefs know how to cook both cuisines, food was seasoned perfectly. We stopped on the way through town, and will stop again in the future! read more

Stepped in for a quick lunch. Never greeted or anything. Waited about 5 minutes. A young girl who didn't speak English apparently looked confused when I told her I'd like to order. Didn't say a word though. Finally the cook/manager walks to the front and just stares at me. I asked him if they were too busy to take an order. I explained it's good thing to greet a customer and tell them you'll be with them soon. He told me that if I didn't like the service I could leave. So I did. read more

I'm so happy I decided to try this place before moving out of Columbia! This is definitely a hidden gem! I got the Gyro Wrap with fries and it is delicious! They have Mexican food and Mediterranean food, which made it hard for me to choose what I wanted! I will definitely be back to try their tortas! The customer service was superb as well! I wish I would've known about this place sooner but I'm glad I found out about it! Please give this place a try if you're in Columbia! read more

Med Mex Cafe - Beef torta - Mexican Near Me - Columbia, Missouri

If you're craving mexican food, this is the place to be. Their combination torta, as well as their street tacos are well-seasoned, in generous portions and overall amazing. While the combination of mediterranean food with mexican food seems like a set-up for one half of the menu to be superior over the other, the incorporation of both types of cuisines is well-done. While I would say the mexican side is stronger (which is inevitable as the ownership is mexican) the hummus plate with the shawarma and the babaghanouj are excellent. One of the best eats in Columbia by far. read more

Points for the concept of bringing two great tastes together. The tacos tastes ok, if you are starting, but somewhat like fish. They could fix this to be amazing. I really wanted to like this. They have gyro tacos, but they should use strips of gyro with tzatziki or hummus, not salsa and taco sauce. People seem cool. Up the food flavor. read more

Very good food. We had Gyros and Tacos and they were perfect. Price was good too. Now I know why they were recommended.

This place is really good with the exception that they are cheap in regards to their salsa. I ordered 10 tacos and they only gave me 4 salsas and acted like it was a big deal that they gave me that many and it's .50 for extra salsa which comes in a very small container. Other than that, their chicken swarma and tacos are delicious. They have gyro tacos which are very good too. read more
