Used crubside service food was 15 minutes late and only delivered after 2 phone calls. We were told by the managing partner who brought it to our car it had just come up. Well the bacon cheese fries the cheese was already solid after having been melted and there was not bacon on the "BACON" cheese fries. The "made from scratch" buttered corn off the cob was canned corn with no butter. Broccoli was over cooked and a sickly shade of green I threw it out. Over all the experience was really bad. Had to try the new restaurant in town and it was good. I received disappointing service from my waitress which is what brings this rating down a bit. I got the Honey Butter Croissants for an appetizer which was really good! Just as you'd expect. As for my entree, I got the Homemade Chicken Pot Pie and that was good as well - had good flavor and consistency. read more

Maybe we were lucky and hit Cheddars when everything happened to be going just right, but we were very impressed. Either they don't deserve all the negative reviews, or they're over their growing pains. On a Friday, a little after noon, we were seated immediately. The waitress was friendly, efficient, and attentive. The wait for our food was 15-20 minutes, acceptable considering a full house on a Friday. My gf had the chicken salad, I had the Monte Christo with a Caesar salad. Good food. Best restaurant meal we've had in months. I'm not normally lavish in my spending habits, but I gladly left a 50% tip. Even with the tip we spent way less than we have at most of the restaurants we've tried in Abilene. Very unimpressed and underwhelmed. Let's start off by walking through the door. We came here on a Monday, it was not busy, plenty of vacant tables. It took the waiter about 15 minutes to come get our drink order, we had already decided on our meals. The hostess didn't mention she sat us. Even after she told the waiter, it took awhile. The waiter was friendly, however he took forever for everything. Let's talk about the food now. I got the steak and grilled shrimp with broccoli casserole and sautéed mushrooms with a side Cesar salad. The steak was cooked ok. It wasn't how I asked. I also ended up with rice and mashed potatoes and no Cesar salad. When he came back he brought the right sides and the Cesar salad, that was super soggy with zero crunch. I actually couldn't even eat it. And I told him how bad it was and got charged anyway. My daughter got the steak, fries, and corn cut off the cob. And let's be real here, that sh*# was straight up frozen corn from a bag, ok. I expected much better with all the hype. When we left, 3 of the people at the hostess station didn't say a thing, I'm carrying a baby carrier. I'm not sure about anyone else, but when I see a woman with a purse, diaper bag, and carrying a car seat, I would rush to hold the door. Crappy food, crappy service, and way overpriced. Lovely setting and atmosphere. Food is average. Service and lack of concern is a significant concern. After being sat I waited 10 min before being greeted by my server, with no apology for the delay. I can certainly understand circumstances in a busy situation, but there was no rushing around or apparent stress present. However management probably needs to evaluate staffing and the current number of tables allotted per server. After placing my order my entree came out promptly...and then received my appetizer 5 minutes later. I will come back for a second visit, but if the service is similar on my next visit I will not be returning. read more

This was our first time ever eating at Cheddar's and it was an amazing experience! We all got margaritas which were delicious and then I ordered my chicken Caesar pasta salad and OH MY GOOOOODNESSS IT WAS SO DELICIOUS!!!! It's such a unique dish and I couldn't get enough! The chicken is so thinly shaved and the dressing is delicious with the perfectly cooked pens noodles, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Went to Cheddar's for the first time two weeks ago. There were four of us. My brother-in-law, his wife, my wife & myself. We showed up at 5:00 and were sat within five minutes. Our server was fantastic, he went above and beyond. We started our meal with The Triple Sampler. Appetizer came out fast and everything was hot and taste was right on point. The queso dip is very tasty as was the spinach dip. Our entrees included a mixture of steaks, shrimp & sandwich. My wife was in the mood for a sandwich and ordered the Club. She said it was very tasty & quite large (had to take 1/2 of it home). I ordered the 14oz Ribeye steak mid-rare. It was cooked perfect and well seasoned. My sister-in-law ordered shrimp and it was cooked right and very tasty as well. My brother-in-law ordered a Sirloin steak mid-well. The only negative in our whole experience was that his steak was very well done. He is not the type to send back food. Doesn't deserve 5 stars but 4 is to low if the option was there I would give it 4.75 stars Would definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends and family read more

I've been to quite a few Cheddars and this one by far the worst. The waitress was wonderful dont get me wrong. I think she did a excellent job. Everything was clean and gave a great dimmer type vibe. It wasn't until my food came out that everything was like over. My steak had to be returned about 4 times or 3. I asked for a medium and it came out not even warm in the center. It was gushing blood . The second time it came back it was medium rare at least but still.... I didn't even want to eat at that point. The shrimp was over cooked and almost mush. read more

My family and I have visited other Cheddar's locations before, and while they were good, this location was not. We waited 25 minutes, and with it being somewhat new, that is understandable. However, when we were seated, our waitress took our drink order, but then another waitress came rushing over. She was obviously stressed and rushed. She was not happy that someone already took our drink order. She left to find out what was going on. When she came back, she was talking bad about the other girl, who I would have preferred. She gave us our refills right after dropping off our drinks, so they were watered down by the time we needed them. Food was good. There wasn't anything about the food that makes me want to come back anytime soon though. They quoted 25-30 minutes so we were good. Spinach dip was amazing. This is one of my favorite things ever and the one we had to say was perfect. It's almost a meal in itself. Entree came out in 20 minutes so that gave us plenty of time for the appetizer and house salad. Both of us had fish (salmon and white fish) - both were very good. Probably best of all was the service. The young lady (Brianna) was so attentive. Checked on us frequently and kept us well supplied with tea. She was so good we called the manager over to brag. Food was cold and service was slow. They comped our meal and offered to remake it. They do have a great menu, but that doesn't matter much when the food comes out cold. The textures and tastes change after awhile . Because they tried to make it right I will give them another try or two. Start off by saying the waitress was very friendly and nice to my son and kept apologizing to us for the delay, BUT..... she would not refill our cups that were clearly sitting on the end of the table for roughly 25 minutes. We didn't say anything and wanted to see how long it would take, It wasn't until our food came out exactly to the minute 58 minutes later (on a Monday afternoon) that we got refilled cups because her boss brought the food out and questioned the empty glasses. I always order steamed brocolli with my meats to actually judge how long it was sitting before it arrived to us. Needless to say it was stone cold. I still.. didn't complain because the steak was cooked correctly. Backtrack to arrival, This was my first time here and when we were seated there was MANY empty seats and it still took 20 minutes to get seated, in the dirtiest booth i have seen with so many empty seats. There were dirty hand marks all over the table from kids and food and oils were smeared all over the seats. I had to request the waitress to clean the booth before we could sit down, and was friendly about it.. The only thing that would have made this one of the worse restaurant experiences is a rude waitress... Slow... but not rude. I will revisit in probably a year to see if it has improved. read more

I understand that Cheddar's is relatively new but the training should be a bit better, at the very least. We ordered over the phone to go and the person that answered seemed incredibly unprofessional. I already told her my order and she didn't know if it was on the menu. When I went to pick it up, she asked if I was ready to pay and I said sure, and then just stood there staring at me until I asked how much it was. When I got the food, which was just some nachos and and two half sandwiches, the nachos were already cold. There weren't even half the ingredients on it that the menu said would be on there. The sandwiches were so lame. Barely any meat inside. And I didn't ask for anything to be taken off or added. Just what the menu provided and it was just all bad. When we finally got to order they were out of what my husband and father in law wanted. Waited over an hour to get our food and when we did get it my husbands steak was wrong my chicken strips were ice cold but we waited so long to eat the last thing we wanted to do was send stuff back. We only saw our waitress a few times once for the order, to drop off the food and for our check. I will stick with eating at the one in San Angelo. It is worth the drive. Mixed feelings. I visited Cheddar's for the first time last weekend. On the plus-side the food was very good in look and taste and the proportions were generous. What I assume was the Manager stopped by our table to check on us and he was very friendly. On the downside, my booth seat was wet when I went to sit down and when I asked for something to wipe it off, the girl who seated us acted totally perplexed by my request. Also, our waitress was good, but I could tell she was understandably exhausted so we didn't get that extra service I might otherwise expect.
