This is definitely a bar for the younger crowd. I came here this past Saturday with a friend, and while it was empty when we first came in we didn't mind. The music was great, we loved the DJ. The drinks were great, they were very strong but we enjoyed them immensely. It started to get crowded with younger people later on in the night which I loved, the music stayed great and bounced between current stuff and reggae. I've been to many dive bars in the city. Frankly this one has no justification for charging a 10 dollar cover when it's in the middle of queens when there's not really much going on. As far as dive-bars go this is one of my faves. It is local to me which I love because I don't always want to have to go into the city to have some good, yet cheap (in cost) drinks. Saturday night is ladies night with $4 drinks (top shelf included) from 9pm-midnight. They sometimes have a live DJ, but either way the music is great. There is a large array of shots to choose from ranging from $2-$7. Literally something for everyone. Also they have pitchers of beer for something like $6 or $7. While I have recently given up drinking I would still go here for the atmosphere because it's a really cool place to hang out. read more

Came to this bar last night with my friend. It was a Sunday night so there wasn't much people there but I didn't mind, not a fan of large crowds anyways. They had a good selection of different drinks and shots that looked fun. The bartender was nice, attentive and made really good drinks. For me, the drinks were strong but I liked it. What a sh@t hole. I love this place. Mostly because it's the closest bar. I don't have cable, so I like watching games here. Don't worry, you can't do anything wrong here, it's a place about being wrong. They will always tune in the game if they don't have it already on when I get there. They seem geared towards hard liquor, their beer selection leaves me ordering Guiness, if they're not out of it. Had a few interesting conversations with strangers here, talked with bartenders who are always dressed provocatively. Never been there when there's a DJ, always went in there on off hours to see a game. Last time I was there, they were putting Halloween decorations. Seems like about 5 people work or volunteer there. A kind of community center. I like the wall of photos of people sticking a stuffed monkey's penis in funny places. There's a memorial to a deceased bouncer. They have a pool table and a basketball shooting game. Kind of a weird dive bar, strange energy. My friends and I have been going to Cheap Shots for some time now and we love it there. I must admit that it's not new and decorated but, it has a classic, old look and feel to it but heck, the prices are amazing! This place is a hit or miss. Its located between St. Johns and Queens College so a college crowd usually. The security here are like gangster rent a thug cops, no offense. No reason to go hard. I want to start by saying thank you for the sufficient air-conditioning and that is all i'm thankful for.. The only thing cheap are the shots with the Audacity to be served in a tiny plastic medicine cup ( 1/2 tsp.)at best. Two gentlemen where playing card's at the bar sitting next to me, both with cash in front of them ( obviously gambling) and the bartender casually asked "who is wining". I love coming here regardless which night of the week it is. They have a different drink special every night- that's on top of their extensive drink menu. They have something for everyone. Want a sweet drink? Got it. Want something cognac based? Got it. Want a tequila based crazy specialty drink? Yup. Got that too. They're so many drink to choose from you just don't know where to start. Just got thru the menu and order one of everything that sounds good. They have a pool table in the back and a basketball game. It's always fun instead of just sitting at the table or at a booth. Seems to always have a later crowd so if I want to be a little laid back I go in a little earlier. If I want to join in on a clubbish atmosphere I go in after midnight on the weekends. Ladies Night is on Saturdays and they have great deals for $5. They seem to have a designated college night so if you're into that crowd, it's a lot of fun cuz they have a Dj after 10. The staff is always friendly and fun. I was driving behind a buddy of mine to go pick up some friends and I spot this little bar. Signaled for him to park so we could head inside, seems the private parking in the back is for "management" or something like that. We thought we could hit a shot before we head back out but much to our surprise, this place looked crazy inside, well the bar half did. Didn't even notice the place was twice the size and the other side was tables and seating area that seemed really lame compared to the fun looking bar. The bartenders here are so cute, even while they are there talking about their boyfriends (who pretty much hang out in this establishment all day according to the girls). They really use their cuteness to their advantage to have you buy almost one of every drink. Good thing I had a mini hangover from the night before so I wasn't ready to get wild, my buddy on the other hand was just getting these super mixed pitchers of liquor. For a dive bar, this is a good place. I went because I wanted a chill night and that's exactly what I got. Don't expect more. I wasn't anywhere close to drunk because the drinks are most definitely watered down. The shots are not standard shot size PLUS they're mixed with other flavors. My friend told me about this bar for months and how they just opened and there so cheap and blah blah bah, so I finally grabbed a group of 6 friends and finally tested the place out. We went there on a Sunday and first thing we noticed was the awesome sign, it's this graffiti/spray painted sign that says really colorfully, CHEAP SHOTS. It was like a huge sign that said "Get drunk here!!" We got there at around 10 and there were a few people at the bar, but not packed. The juke box was playing rock music which was such a relief over the normal hip-hop you always hear everywhere. The bartender was awesome, he didn't even ask us what we wanted he just started talking to us and then poured us all shots. The place has a menu written on the mirrors so you never have to get a lame drink like you do everywhere else. We ended up getting the weirdest shots ever like a Happy Ending and a Cookie n Cream shot. And the bombs are so fun - we had Barbie bomb races and Skittle bombs which I still have no idea what are in them but they tasted amazing!! And the best part about the place is it's cheap as hell and fun!! How often can you play jenga with a bartender?? And they have two version of jenga; make sure you ask for the "Cheap Shots Version" as the bouncer called it. O and the bouncer for the place was funny as hell. He kept walking by every few minutes and putting our cell phones on napkins so they wouldn't be touching the bar. I've been here way too many times. It is literally my go to (or was). Always needed up there after a party/ fun (or bust) night that ended too early, for a friends birthday , or just a random night when my friends and I felt like going out and getting drunk. They have a ton of specials, one every night. You drink for free on your birthday too! Who doesn't like to drink for free? Make sure to get the cum shot on your birthday, it's a riot. The specialty shots are mixed, not just straight liquor. when there aren't specials the drinks are average priced, about $8 each. And I believe for a straight shot they are the same price. Great for groups, I've only ever been with 3+ people. They have cover after like 11 on Fridays and Saturdays I believe. If I could give this place an even lower rating I would. DO NOT GO HERE! All of the liquor is fake not the real thing, it tastes like a cheaper version that they put into that particular bottle. After all of my friends arrived I ordered a bottle and guess what...it was already pre-opened. I asked for another one and it was opened as well so I asked why are they all opened, they said to make it easier for us to open. I then requested a sealed bottle and they couldn't give me one.
