This past week, I had a proper brunch with another friend at The Smith and it was a great experience. I had made reservations (just in case), and I got there right on time but my friend was running late. I got seated towards the back by the friendly hostess but as I was waiting, I changed my mind and wanted to sit closer to the front where there was more light coming in from the front the windows. The hostess was very accommodating and moved the table without a problem. The food was delicious. As always, I try to keep it healthy and had the Sugar Snap Pea salad and my friend had the Burrata. The salad was fresh and crispy, with grilled chicken for extra protein. My friend said the Burrata could have been warmer in temperature, but it was still a good choice for her. The ambiance was also very pleasant, there weren't many people at the time we went and I think once the weather gets warmer, the front doors are able to be fully open and allow air in and provide a more al fresco dining experience.

Review: The Smith (NYC) I recently visited The Smith in…read moreNYC, and I'm fairly certain the kitchen is running some kind of delicious sorcery in the back. I ordered The Smith Burger, and it was so good it almost felt illegal. It's the kind of burger that makes you want to write a thank-you note to the cow. The bacon jam and blue cheese didn't just sit there; they threw a party on my palate and forgot to invite the napkins. Then there was The Royale. "Scrumptious" doesn't even cover it. It was like a masterclass in structural engineering--how they managed to keep that much flavor stacked between two buns without it collapsing under the weight of its own ego is a mystery. By the end of the meal, I was essentially one burger away from needing a forklift to get me to the subway. If you're looking for a quiet, sensible salad, go somewhere else. If you want to enter a meat-induced euphoria that will make you forget your own zip code, this is the place. Final Verdict: 10/10. My cholesterol is concerned, but my soul is at peace.

The front part where you first walk in is the bar area with some tables. This restaurant is on the darker side and brings you back in time. Once you walk in further that is where the main dinning room is. This is also on the darker side as you can maybe tell by my photos. The wall paper and art around the restaurant is cool and there are some monkey statues around the restaurant. I was seated in a corner table in a booth area that seemed to be for at least 2-3 people. I thought for sure they would seat me at the bar area. I had a wonderful waitress whose name I think was Taylor but I could be wrong. I ordered the Monkey bread to start off with. It's a very buttery bread with truffle and parm cheese on top. I have alot of allergies and I was searching online if I could even have truffles as I have a nut allergy. So, I asked the waitress and she said she had never heard this. But, she came back to me and told me that White truffle grows near or like over where Almonds grow from but that, they don't use white truffle so I was all good. Well, this was super nice of her to check for me. I had no idea she was going to do this. She said the restaurant has strict protocols when it comes to food allergies. I then got for my main dish the double cheese burger with onions and pickles. To drink I had the cucumber martini. WOW everything was pretty darn good!! I passed on dessert. If you get a chance or a reservation pops up in your resy to go, even if it is for lunch..I highly say go for it.

Our server was…read moreincredibly warm, upbeat, and full of energy--one of those people who genuinely elevates a meal. I only wish I could remember her name because she deserves the recognition. We started with drinks, and mine ended up being a surprise standout. I ordered the coconut margarita, slightly hesitant since I'm not usually a margarita fan--but it completely won me over. It struck a perfect balance and leaned just enough into the coconut to make it feel unique without being overpowering. My sister-in-law, who's pregnant, had a non-alcoholic Ritual margarita and loved it, noting how convincingly it mimicked the real thing. Since we were sharing, we got to try a good mix of the menu. The monkey bread came first--definitely a splurge at $34, but it's one of those fun, indulgent starters that's worth ordering at least once. While I wouldn't call it the best bread I've ever had, I also wouldn't change anything about it. The crab rangoon was another highlight. Having it made with real crab made a noticeable difference, and the dipping sauces complemented it really well. It felt like a more elevated take on something familiar. For mains, the French dip was a hit. The meat was incredibly tender, the bread had that ideal crusty exterior, and the au jus was packed with flavor--I was very glad I ordered extra. It pulled the whole dish together. We also tried the smoked whitefish Caesar, which was the only dish that didn't quite land for me. It was a well-made, fresh salad, but the smoked fish flavor was a bit overpowering and took over the balance of the dish. Even though we were too full for dessert, the restaurant surprised us with a scoop of strawberry ice cream with chocolate sauce to celebrate my sister-in-law's babymoon. It ended up being one of the most memorable bites of the meal--we're still talking about how good that ice cream was. We arrived right at 11:45, and by the time we left, the place was absolutely buzzing. It's clearly a popular spot, and for good reason. Between the lively atmosphere, strong service, and well-executed food, I'd highly recommend making a reservation if you can.

Jeanine herself is so warm and accommodating and is such a sincere and kind person. On one visit when I was in a rush picking up dinner for my mom, she went above and beyond to quickly prepare the most perfectly tender chicken cutlet with vegetables in just minutes. On my most recent visit, I had the most delicious chicken parm with ziti I have ever had in my life. The ziti was not only perfectly cooked, but the sauce - wow! It was something out of this world. The best I've ever had. I can't even properly describe how incredible it was - you have to try it for yourself! While I was waiting, someone at the bar overheard my order and told me how amazing it was and said that I am going to love it! She was absolutely right. I've also had their brick oven pizza many times - they make it fresh right in front of you in minutes and it's absolutely delicious. I can't believe how quickly they prepare such phenomenal food across the board. The prices are incredibly reasonable for such high-quality, home-cooked style food. You can absolutely really taste the care and quality in everything they make. Jeanine's is the best - I highly recommend!

Cons: I've called this place 4 times in past couple of months for a pick-up order. First time was great and picked up the food and fell in love so much so that it would be a regular on a night that I'd pick up rather than cook. Second time I called and was told to hold on and I literally timed it. After 10 minutes, no one picked up but could hear all the chatter from the bar patrons. Third time I called it was probably picked up by a bar patrons that sounded like he really enjoyed his liquids. Needless to say, he placed me down on bar and after what seemed like a few minutes, I was hung up on. The last and final time I attempted to call for pickup, no one ever picked up the phone. Final result: I believe if you plan on going up there and dealing with the wait, then the food is worth it. As for me being a regular customer, they've lost my business. If they had a working website or some other way of ordering, I may try them again. Otherwise, I won't go there unless I plan to sit and eat there or indulge at the bar: The potential for a great business is there, but maybe they only want to remain as a bar to their regulars.

We were also intrigued to try the sangria that yelp raved about. We got a pitcher! It did NOT disappoint. It was a decent size pitcher for the price. Roza came to us and asked if we liked it and told us it was her recipe. No sugar ,No soda .It was tasty, thick full of fruit and definitely had liquor because I left with a buzz She also brought out the rosè for us to try pretty good too very refreshing will definitely do that one in warmer weather. I got the Dbar burger it was good but so big I didn't finish it all. My husband got the rib eye burger. He liked it but it was a little to greasy for him he didn't finish it. My 13 year old wanted breakfast. It was not in the menu but we figured we ask since it is a diner. She got pancakes with fruit and scrambled eggs. My youngest daughter got from the kids menu grilled cheese with fruit she enjoyed it so much we had to order another. Both girls for the marshmallow milkshake they LOVED it! For appetizers we got calamari good but could've used a little more breading. Also got chips with guacamole and honestly for a diner it was delicious. Everyone was friendly. Roza knew she had a bday past since we conversed for a bit and suggested we can sing her happy bday and asked what she liked I told her chocolate cake. They asked for the correct spelling of her name which I thought was sweet. Anyway the staff came out and sang with us super cool. Even the bathrooms are really clean. It was a great experience will definitely come back.I must be honest it's a hit pricey. The price for the pancakes with eggs was $23 when we saw the bill I was a little surprised. Kids' meals are $13 and I thought we were getting the cake (free, lol) since I technically didn't suggest it. It was $12 for a slice. But overall it was a pleasure she even gave us a sample of vodka with lemon and ginger which was actually good and helps settle the stomach.

There is an inviting large bar, an open kitchen, and a large private room in the back. The menu is American classics made with premium ingredients. Although his place is known for their single malt whiskey, craft beer and signature cocktails, only one at our table had a cocktail: EZ Money made with gin, prosecco, lemon, cucumber and St- Germain Elderflower Liqueur. I will look at their wine list next visit. As for the food, the garlic bread and calamari did not disappoint. Our table ordered a variety of dishes. A unique rotisserie chicken salad sandwich, a salmon bowl, and an order of mussels. Each dish was a win. I chose a great mesclun green salad and had to try the double smash burger, a mouth-watering proprietary blend of prime chuck, brisket and short rib which I'd have to talk myself out of not re ordering with my next visit.
