Seriously the best empanadas in the area!! I love how easy it is to order online and pick up, plus they taste amazing to-go! I'm a big fan of the sweet beef, ham & cheese and caprese special. I've also had the breakfast ones, which also were delicious. I would recommend ordering a bunch and splitting them with friend to find your flavors. I recently tried the desserts and didn't love them, a little dry. Also, don't bother adding on the sauces, I've never felt like they needed to be dipped. This was a great spot for breakfast when you're really hungry and couldn't wait in the long line at Benchwarmers! I got their breakfast bacon, egg and cheese and a ham and cheese empanada. They definitely hit the spot but I could have ordered 5 more but they add up at $3 each. I also added on the Chimichurri sauce for $1 more and it was super tasty! Sorry no pics. I was hungry. the cashier was nice and Informative the empanadas were ok. Everything tasted ok. it lacked seasonings for me. I've had better. The restaurant is in a food court situation in what seems to be a nice nbrhood. There were young adults just enjoying there lives on a Friday night outside. No drama! I would recommend this spot to people who want to drink at the bars around there and need food after, but the empanadas were not what I was looking for. Every region of the world make empanadas differently. I tried the Beef Empanada, and it was packed with flavor! I enjoyed all the spices, and the meat was tender. The crust was flaky yet soft, and it all came together nicely. They are in a nice location at Transfer Co., hence the $3 price (which I thought was on the steeper end), but the empanada was good. Overall: So here's the deal: these were the first empanadas I ate after I returned from a trip to Puerto Rico, so I was disappointed. But I don't think its the restaurant's fault. I just got spoiled a bit, but Iikely would not return. Vegetarian: I had the caprese, humita(corn), and lentil & sweet potato empanadas. None of them were great. The Caprese was my least favorite. Even though they had the vegetarian options, I cannot recommend the restaurant because I didn't particularly enjoy the food. Service: So the restaurant is inside of Transfer food hall. You order at the counter, wait and then they call your name when it is ready. They weren't busy but it took maybe 5-10 minutes for the food, presumably because they had to cook them. read more

This was a fun breakfast but I had to wait until 11a to get the party started. I was super pleased that none of the options on the menu were out of stock, yet. I ordered one of most everything. I was a little offended that the hostess kept recommending that I not try some of the more traditional flavors and instead get the caprese flavor. Don't get me wrong, I love caprese salad and the trend of it taking over everything in life. I don't enjoy being judged about what I'll like based on how I look. I mean, do you??? I did like that my dozen-plus empanadas came out on a tray and we were given little paper boats as plates and knives for sharing. I wish a tiny bit that I could tell what each empanada was based on some external feature. For example, a chocolate box has a decode map and striping legend, donuts will have clues embedded in the icing, pastries or dim sum will have different folds in the dough, and bao will have stamps with colors/shapes/numbers that tells you what the stuffing is. I had to cut all of the empanadas open and compare to figure out what was what. Also, the prices were completely reasonable. I also got just about one of everything at the Indian stall next door which was more than twice as expensive for a similar volume of food. I don't live in Raleigh and won't make the trip just for this venue, but if I am back in the area I would definitely visit again. read more

They offer all different kind of empanadas including gluten free which is awesome! Their bacon egg and cheese empanada is surprisingly tasty. If you end up purchasing a bunch to bring home, they label the flavor on the empanada (dough marking to determine which flavor) which is neat. I've had Che Empanadas a couple of times now and their empanadas really are delicious and authentic. I've had the Beef, Sweet Beef, Chicken and Spinach empanadas. The chicken is by far my favorite, followed by the spinach. There is something about the chicken empanada that has so much flavor and the meat is nice and juicy. If you are unsure of what to order, definitely get the chicken! In comparison to other empanadas I've had, I prefer the crust and flakiness of the empanadas from here. Some other places have empanadas that tend to get too doughy and you just don't get the right balance between the crust and the filling. That's another thing that stands out to me here - the amount of filling. They really make sure you are getting your money's worth and aren't just filling you up with carbs. The service was quick and our food came out hot. We'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. read more

I will say my friend got the chicken and said it was super spicy (as did reviewer James B) so that would be a good to have a notification for. I tried out the tomato mozzarella, ham and cheese, and lemon beef. Seriously so good! I liked that they were all different shapes and easy to identify. I'd get them all again, but I'd say the tomato mozzarella was my favorite, followed by lemon beef, followed by ham and cheese. Mostly just because I felt the first two were more interesting and the ham and cheese was tasty but more of an expected. My family loves Che's and they're definitely the best in the Raleigh area. Because you can order as little as one for a reasonable price, we get one almost every time we go to transfer, even if our main meal is from somewhere else. They have a wide array of flavors that can satisfy everyone from the pickiest eater (potato and cheese) to foodies (prune, pancetta, mozzarella). There are even some vegetarian and vegan-friendly options. The empanadas are great for little kiddos because they're small, easy to hold, and have kid-friendly options (my 3-year-old loves the ham and cheese). An added bonus is that the food comes out really quickly, which is especially helpful when you're dealing with a hangry kid or just in a rush.
