She was about to shape my nails like claws when she needed to even them out. She also left plenty of dead skin on my heals. This is a very basic nail salon. Came for a pedi and manicure. Decided to try it because it was close to home. Pedi cure and mani felt rushed. Also, they charge extra for callus removal (most salons charge for this anyways). Polish selection is limited and very diluted with nail polish thinner. Bring your own polish and you should be ok. In any case I got a frencn pedi which is okay but I will give her props for the awesome scrub down my heels are nice and soft! When I go to a nail salon I expect for the expert to recommend certain treatments for instance a manicure or hand softening treatment but not this place...the only reason why I go there is because of convenience but not any more!! So iti's Friday 3/29 and I leave work to try to get there when they first open and I sit down in the chair, the tech never asks how I'm doing or tries to hold any conversation, so upon arrival my nails are already jacked from about 2-3 weeks prior to going there and they guy did my nails (my thumb gel is completely gone)...tech never inquires about what happened or anything she proceeds to sand off the gel, do her thang, charge a whopping $38 and I'm out...not even 2 hours later I'm back because my thumb gel peeled again!! It's Tuesday and 2 more are doing the same thing!! I'm officially done with this joint! read more

I have been coming here for about 5 years now. I've sat with all the nail techs for various services ranging from manicures, pedicures, brow shaping, eye lash extensions, full sets etc. Pretty much everything on their service menu. I could not give this place a 5 because when they are busy, it definitely shows in their work. It can get sloppy and you do feel rushed. They have quality service but it is best to go on off peak times/days. The place its self is a typical nail salon. Nothing outstanding. No, they don't serve wine during pedicures, but I've brought my own to just have a relaxing foot soak and they didn't mind at all. I truly believe that what makes this place worthwhile is Diana. I honestly feel like she truly likes what she does and goes out of her way to make sure that her clients are happy with their results. I also think Billy is patient and methodical in his work. My regular nail tech in DC was on vacation just before the holidays, and I was desperate for a gel fill, so I checked Yelp and selected Chau's based on the mostly good reviews and the location convenient to me. I wasn't expecting a peaceful experience two days before Christmas, which was good, because the place was bustling with customers. I called ahead but I don't think they wrote down my name because they were so busy. Still I was able to get a fill with Ann within a couple of minutes. I was pleased how quickly and gently Ann worked on my fill, and how smooth and even they turned out. Even though the trash was overflowing near the sink and the work station had acrylic dust and clippings from previous customers, I was really happy with the quality of work done. I will probably go back to Ann again, because the prices are less than what I pay in DC too. read more

I've been here about a handful of times over the past year or so. The place has been remodeled since the first time I went and it definitely does look much cleaner. I think the people in there do good work... my nails look good, thin, filed to my perfection BUT one thing that has bothered me EVERY TIME I go there is the amount of time that it starts falling apart. I don't know what it IS or what they USE BUT I have gotten hundreds of gel manicures and they have lasted 14- 18 days. In this place, I feel like my nails are chipping, catching onto my hair and detaching from the paint is falling!!! It feels like when you have acrylics and your nail starts to detach because their old. Looking for some great places in the greenbelt area that does gel manicures that last the time promised!!!! read more

After reading Yelp's reviews on Chau's Nails, I decided to make the trip this evening. I must say I was highly impressed with both the price($30 for gel manicure), quality of products/supplies, cleanliness,  and customer service. I got the gel manicure and regular pedicure.  I highly recommend this place. I never knew it was in this specific shopping center. The establishment is quite small but they manage and most of all, take their time no matter how busy it is. I def will return! Thanks Chau's! read more

I came in around 11 on a Friday for a regular mani & pedi. I'd read reviews about this place & decided to give it a shot. The salon itself is smaller but I wouldn't call in cramped. In fact, it's your normal nail salon. No thrills and frills. That being said, my review is about the manicure and pedicure I received. The color selection was ok, the service was quick, the nail tech didn't ask a bunch of questions and only asked me if I wanted my eyebrows done once (this really grinds my gears because my eyebrows are always arched....), and the manicure and pedicure was decent. I didn't like the way they applied the polish to my nails though. It actually looks like something I did. To me, it was sloppily done and looked as if I had done it myself. Granted, I did get regular polish so I wasn't expecting it to last more than a week, but to have my polish chip the very next day is completely and utterly unacceptable. A little disheartening that pedicures don't automatically come with massage. Evey place I've been to had that as standard. I got the jelly pedicure which was ok but probably not worth the extra $$ especially since I think my tech forgot to use some of the jelly product. The water was also cold and jelly needs to be warm :-\. She did a good job on my nails overall but I probably would only go here in a pinch. It seems pretty clean and other customers seemed pleased with their results. My jelly pedi/regular mani ended up costing $47. read more
