I came in for a pedicure and full set and will never be coming to this place ever again!! It is so frustrating to come in to get a service and get nasty attitudes and rushed work. The First Lady that did my nails was rushing the entire time and would start throwing things and being aggressive with me if I asked her to fix something. I ended up hating the way my nails looked. They were super bulky and crooked I asked for someone else to fix my nails and the only man in the shop attempted to fix them. He was so rude and passive aggressive with me the entire time. He ruined my natural nails and and filed down until my cuticles started bleeding. When he noticed that I was bleeding he didn't even bother using a different file. So unsanitary My nails ended up looking worst after he was done. They were super thin and crooked I was not content with the final product and asked for a refund which they said no to and said that the reason why my nails were so sore and bleeding was because of the shape I asked for???? I don't know how these people stay in business, they like professionalism and pick and choose who they work well with. My 78 year old father has recently seen the value in getting pedicures to take care of his feet. The nail shop walking distance to him on Rhode Island Ave had closed and relocated but we found that a few of their staff were at My Nails on Route One. I took him to get a basic pedicure, he treated Me to a Gel Spa Pedicure and we were both happy with the service, price, and timeliness. I also noticed another elderly man coming in for a pedicure and I appreciate the way their staff is both friendly and attentive to those who are aging. This salon may not be as modern or revamped in interior appearance but the technicians are friendly, fast, and do quality work and charge reasonable prices. read more

I am such a cheater when it comes to nail salons! I've been around the block ;) This is probably the closest nail salon to me right now. They really get the job done. I just got my 2nd gel manicure from Tina. She does an awesome job. Her work is neat, clean and spends her time to shape, buff, and makes sure the application looks top notch. She gives a hand and arm rub/massage at the end. So many gel colors to choose from. They also have a large OPI polish selection to choose from which makes it easier to find matching pedi polish. I've been to too many salons where they scramble to find a matching color that ends up way off! If you're looking for a modern salon then this is not it. The interior is older and not cutsey at all BUT the work Tina does is on point. read more

I have my hands in water most days and she had no problem correcting where the acrylic lifted on the sides and even added a bit more solution to thicken it up for prevention. I walked in and the girl escorted me to the pedicure chair. I picked the color green, not big on color but my girlfriends told me to get a color that pops. So why not green, the color of money and maybe I'll get Grover Cleveland's face painted in the center ( face on $1000 note) the young lady did a great job and we engaged in a very good conversation, which was also nice. She finished my toe nails, (Cleveland's face is not on them) and helpef me down from the chair since im still in pain from a surgery. She put me under the light and 20 min later came by for me to pay her and i did with a generous tip. I will come here again the next time im in this area. read more

Never Again! The first time I got my gel nails done, had to return the second day because the nails started to look dull and unappealing. Less than two weeks with this same set, one of my nails just pops off and the nails looked dull again. I complained to the same technician who was rude and condescending. I was told to wait for another technician and vacate my chair. Never again! I can spend my money somewhere else and be treated better by staff at another salon and can do better nails. read more

I made an appointment and not only did I have to wait for a LONG time but after they FINALLY said they were going to take me, they expected me to wait in the pedicure chair while they started someone else's nails. I just moved to the area and will never be back. What is the point of making an appointment if the expectation is to sit there for over 1 hour. I just got a gel manicure here, my first time at this location. No offense to any other great manicurists at this location, but the guy I had did an awful job with my gel manicure and I feel like I wasted $30. As seen in the pictures, the manicure was done very sloppy and I feel like I have solid stuff under my nails. I don't like this feeling under my nails at all. He did not use any tools from a clean sterile bag, and the salon was dirty and outdated. I don't usually mind this, as long as they are good at what they do and use sterile tools. I'm not one to complain, which is why I actually went to a different salon to get my nails salvaged, to no avail. They couldn't shape my nails the way i wanted them because they were done way shorter than I asked at My nails. I provided Linda the owner with a picture of exactly what I wanted and told her I wanted them long since that's the only way i seem to be able to get a cute coffin shape. From the second I sat down I had the worst experience getting my nails done. Her glue was almost out and she kept having to squeeze little bits when the tips wouldn't stick. Through out the whole process they kept coming unglued and she would keep putting little drops instead of finding a bottle that actually had glue in it. After we finally started with the acrylic is when the tips finally stayed down. She then proceeded to cut my first nail as long as I wanted, but trimmed the rest HALF that size. At this point I don't know if she was being careless on purpose or she really doesn't know how to do nails. I'm aware that I don't like these nails already and am ready to run but I tell myself to stay and try to calm down. When she gets to the buffing the nails with the drill she buffed so close to my skin she CUT me. There's blood. And she continues to work like nothing. I have to stop her and say my thumb is bleeding. She puts drops of who knows what on my cut which burns all without even saying a word. The rest of the time and while she's doing my color she acts oblivious to my cut and even applies polish remover Around my thumb (which she just cut) burns like hell. She didn't care about my experience and only wanted the money. The worst experience of my life at a salon and I felt overcharged. Never going back. This was the worst place I've ever gone to get my nails done. I waited an hour for someone to seat me after one of the workers told me I would be done in 45 minutes. After finally being shown to a station, I waited another 30 minutes for someone to come do my manicure. Then I had 3 separate people do my nails. One of the employees shaved off all of my cuticles and every single one of my nails were bleeding. When I complained about it, she said "oh whoops" and kept doing it. When she was done, one of my nails was a completely different color than all of the rest. My friends and I were here for 3 hours, when we were told at the beginning that we would all be done in less than an hour. It was absolutely ridiculous. Never going here again. Literally any other place is better than this one. read more

While the skill of the staff is adequate, they permanently lost our patronage because of the experience my mother and her care giver had today. The staff aggressively and falsely accused mom's care giver of stealing a cell phone. The phone was found after the altercation and no apology was given. So. I have been here twice. First time was great. I had made an appointment for my mom, sister and myself. I was the first appointment they took and even had another technician come early to accommodate all 3 of us. I had a pedi and gel mani and I was happy with how both turned out. Especially my gel nails, they were clean, even and pretty. My gel nails lasted 2 weeks and in the third week they started lifting (I am a licensed cosmetologist so my hands are always in water from sanitizing so much. So 2 weeks is amazing for me) The only thing I didn't like was the next day my big toe nail was a little sore after the nail technician cleaned under the nail and dug a bit too hard. But still overall I was happy with my service. Now, my second time here was not so great. Again I had made an appointment for 7:30 (they closed at 8 that day so they take their last client at 7:30pm) and I arrived 15min early to remove the old gel on my nails. When my new gel nails were done they were a mess. There was gel everywhere around my nails. I didn't think to micro manage because I was so happy with my nails the first time I came here. Anyways! Yes they were a mess. That day my mom had again went with me and she is far more outspoken than I am. So she let know what a mess they made lol. So the tech. who had done my nails the first time (who did a great job) apologized and said sorry for the mess that this other technician made. She said the next time I come in they will take care of it. It's only because of her I will continue to go there ( I forgot to get her name for the review, I will find out!) Soo it's the next day after I have gotten my nails done and the gel is already lifting around the edges. I will be going back to get them redone today and see how it goes. I will say that it depends on the technician you get. Most of the girls are a good here with the exception of 2 or 3 of them. Just beware and pay attention. Update: *The lady I went to my first time who did a great job her name is Tina. Here's the kicker the lady who did a horrible job on my nails seems to be in a position of management if not the owner... so anyways I went back to get them redone, this time by Tina. I asked if I'd have to pay again it being only 2 days before the gel lifted. So Tina asked the lady who did my nails before. Her response was "it was not her doing that they lifted." As you can imagine I was very upset at this point after I heard that. She said I would have to pay 20$ to have them redone. I tried my hardest to explain that that was ridiculous. She eventually lowered it to 15$. It was clear that even Tina felt bad for me lol she knew it was wrong. I decided to let Tina do them for the 15$ only because if I were to go anywhere else I'd pay the full price. I couldn't be happier with my nails or the service here. Jennifer does my nails and gets it right every time. She's detailed oriented and will address the tiniest flaw before you say anything. She understands that my nails need to be conservative but not boring. When I'm undecided, she recommends great colors that she knows will be to my liking. I've been going to this salon for a couple of years, and I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt every time. Linda the owner is very "hit or miss". Catch her on a good day she's nice, on a bad day she'll treat you accordingly. She's by far the worst nail tech in the shop, rushes your nails, doesn't leave your nails looking finished and clean, multi task doing other things while doing your nails, which is understandable to a certain extent. But she over do it every time. Tina and Rose are really nice and are the two nail techs I will highly recommend. They always treat you with respect, and will acknowledge you if you become a familiar face. Wait times can be a gamble as well, they are in a very popular location. I would recommend the shop, just do not go to the owner. Went to her several times and was never satisfied with my nails when she did them. And the last time I went, she was rude, tried to up sell and was being nasty at the same time. my nails were terrible, decided not to spend my money there anymore. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. ***Fair warning, this is going to be a long rant. I have never had such awful service at a nail salon in my life. If I could give this place negative stars, I would.*** Not only did I make an appointment and then have to wait an hour and a half to even be seated, but the woman who owns the place, Linda, completely messed up both mine and my friend's nails. My friend showed her a reference picture and they looked NOTHING like the photo. We got acrylics and they weren't the right shape, they were all different lengths and crooked. She didn't even go through with getting them painted, just had them soak them off she was so disappointed. I wanted to give her a chance on mine so I also showed her a reference picture and she started on my nails and then kept seating other people and going to help them. I was so aggravated but I really wanted mine done and though what I asked for was a little more simple...they turned out HORRIBLE. She got glue all over my fingers. At one point her finger got stuck to mine and she had to rip the skin apart. THEN, she painted my nails and was so obviously rushing because the place was busy instead of giving me the service I deserved as a paying customer who had already had to wait so long. I wish I could include photos because there was nail polish all over my cuticles, on the sides of my fingers, there was a clump on my thumb nail that she just ignored and acted like she didn't know what I was talking about. She kept getting an attitude with me when I would ask her to clean up around my nail...I was so pissed at this point I almost left, but I was also planning on getting waxed. I had my legs done and I can't even tell you how many spots she missed. She also literally ripped the skin off my inner thigh so badly that it's still not healed four days later. She kept going over the same spots again and again and I had never had my legs waxed so I didn't know that wrong. My legs were raw for two days and my inner thigh is still bright pink from the irritation. I do not have sensitive skin so this is not normal. Then, she had the audacity to give me a dirty look when I didn't tip her but still paid for my services so I could just leave and literally stormed off like a child rolling her eyes. Because of my friend's nails getting screwed up, how long it took us to be seated and all her screw ups waxing me, I was there for FIVE AND A HALF HOURS. I considered going back the next day to complain and get a refund and show all the irritation and point out once again how screwed up my nails looked, but I just never ever want to see that place again. read more

I would give them zero star if I could. Worst experience ever! So I went in asking for a gel manicure and a pedicure before my vacation, and it wasn't even my first time, I've been there many times and the technicians recognize me. The pedicure went fine, the problems was all with the gel mani. At first, I picked a blue color. After one coat, me and the technician both realized the color does not stay. We tried three coats on my pinky finger and the color still looked uneven (the center of the nail was a lot lighter and the edges were way too dark). So I asked her to change a color and she started to blame me! I should have known better and just left the salon at that point because it is going downhill!! She then started to say something like you should have known, the darker gel color doesn't work well normally blah blah blah. I was a little upset at that point, but was still being very nice. I told her I did not know the color would turn out like that and nobody told me the darker color could be problematic. So she finally agreed to change the color and started to clean my nails, and this whole process hurts really badly because she was being extremely un-gentle. At one point I had to stop her and told her that my fingers were in pain. Then she started to paint my nails without clean the residues completely. I have attached couple pictures just to show how ugly my nails look like. It was extremely short to a point my finger tip hurts now, the shape of them looked like it was a four year old's work, not to mention there were blue paint all over that she couldn't care less to get off. After it was done, I did not want to pay for it at all. I was very unhappy with how my nails look like. So when I showed my nails to the manager, the technician all of a sudden started accusing me for what happened, yelling at me, asking me "what's wrong with you" and even threatened me to call the police if I don't pay. Even though I kept on telling her that I appreciate the effort she put in but I'm just not pleased with the result, she just would not listen to me and was so rude the whole time. I did not want to cause a bigger scene than it already was so I just paid for it and left. Anyways, I have been using yelp for a long time and this was the first time that I feel like I must write a review and tell everybody how horrible they treat their customers.
