I used to go to Chau's Nails on a fairly regular basis many years ago, but when I got diagnosed with Type II Diabetes, I was advised to discontinue this habit, as I was warned that due to diabetic neuropathy, if I got a cut between my toes and I wouldn't necessarily feel the cut due to the neuropathy, and in turn, without treatment the cut could become infected, which in turn could lead to amputation. Fast forward several years into this situation and I had my annual check-up with my Primary Care Physician for an annual Diabetic Foot Exam. During the foot exam, I mentioned how I missed getting pedicures as a personal self-care indulgence from time to time. My doctor shocked me by stating most places like this are licensed and regulated by the State, so as long as you mention that you're a Type II Diabetic when you go in, and ensure they are using sterile instruments, you should be fine! I was happy to say many of the same people were working there since the last time I was on the premises. I was greeted by May. She had me sit in one of those very cushy massage lounge chairs that vibrates and taps and knocks on your back and once my shoes and socks were removed, my feet where placed into a basin with warm water while May grabbed a sealed bag of sterile instruments that she neatly placed at her workstation. May put blue surgical gloves on her hands, placed a red towel at the top of basin and went back and forth between my feet, placing each foot up on the towel to begin clipping and snipping and cleaning up the cuticles of each toe. It really was something to watch! Meanwhile, I continued to fiddle with the massage chair remote. May placed a thin layer of oil on each toe, and the feet went back in the soothing warm water. Then the feet were back on the towel and she filed each toenail, then buffed each toe, and then used some sort of pumice on the soles of my feet (to remove dead skin). May then used a small amount of lotion to massage each leg up the calf muscles and finally added a thin layer of clear coat to each toe so every toenail looked shiny new! The regular pedicure costs $35. I was very pleased with how good my feet looked and felt compared to when I walked in, and I tipped May well for her effort. I will be back to Chau's Nails again. read more

The salon add plastic to bowl & have massaging chairs which is good. The air is too cool though. My salon person left me standing at the front. She never spoke to me. Simple pedi: only filed, cut & drilled 2 toes. I sat at dryer not knowing what to do & she finally came over. When done I asked her to check polish & she shook head. I motioned to remove toe separators that wasn't on toes correctly so I had to adjust. They charged $10 (not on price list) for designs on big toes which is more than I've ever spent. They also charge more for credit cards. It was only 3 of us in there. She did an excellent job on designs. Pedi was ok. I took my own polish (that I had to open) which saves them money. I've been to this particular nail shop a couple of times for a quick fill-in when I'm in the area. The wait time isn't too long. I think my nails look nice enough so I would say the quality is good. I can't remember my technician's name. She was very sweet and worried about me because I fell asleep while she was doing my nails. I always fall asleep (lol), but this day I was extra tired and it showed on my face and demeanor. The place is a bit outdated. Renovations would make it look better. Overall, it's a local, drive by, run in and out nail shop. read more

Go to Diana. She was very thorough. Also asked if I wanted additional services. I got gel mani/pedi and added my brows. Go early during the week day. first and last time coming to Chaus. i came in on a Sunday to get a pedicure French tip and one of the male staff services me. he did not do what I requested and got frustrated the first time I asked him to fix it. he was huffing and puffing as he was rectifying himself just to make the samw mistake again. Eventually he fixed it again but the service was not done willingly it felt like he was being forced. just to also not do a neat job. read more

I went to Chau's for years, and I was very happy with the service, but the quality has gone way down. In the past couple of years, I had a set of acrylic nails put on, and a week later, they fell off. And three times in a row, I got a fungal infection on my toenails from their gel pedicures. The fungal infection is pretty gross, but I wish I could attach a picture. They really need to put a lining on the foot sinks. I shouldn't have stayed around as long as I did, but I had been going there for 15 years. Never again. read more

So I was being lazy and didn't feel like driving to my usual nail salon. So I went up the street to Chau's BAD DECISION NEVER AGAIN. I came in for a pedi and gel mani. My mani is decent which is why I gave two stars. But the pedi OMG NEVER AGAIN. The nail tech (I wish I knew her name) CUT MY TOE ouchhh and than she kept dipping it in the water as if it was gonna stop the bleeding. It wasn't just a nip either it was bleeding bleeding and she didn't even have the courtesy to apologize . Now I have to wrap my toe and it is painful to wear closed toe shoes thanks a lot. I learned my lesson convenience is not always best. read more

First time here. I desperately needed to have my nails done on a Sunday and they were the closest shop that opens in the morning. I came right at 11am when they opened and was serviced immediately. The service was ok. I'm used to receiving at least a hand massage with gel manicures but I did not get one here. It's been a week since my nails were done. The cuticle job is terrible. They look horrible now at this point. I should have asked her to only push them back and not cut it. I've also had 3 nails chip so far. The rest are beginning to look like they will peel from the bottom soon. Actually, a few have started peeling from the bottom. I might give this place another try but I'm not sure. Maybe I just didn't get a good nail tech read more

I have been to this nail salon years ago but need a quick color change. The male nail tech had a nasty attitude and did a lazy job. He didn't even paint the whole nail and when I asked for him to cut down and file down the nail, he got mad. The women nail tech were nice and pleasant. read more

Worst place ever! Gel polish on my natural nails started coming off on the 3rd day. I went to the establishment and told them what was going on. The only thing the could tell me was that I had to show up the same day my nails started fading (even though I explained that I was out of the state on vacation) Their costumer service is terrible; they left me there hanging; talking by myself. I didn't even bother to ask for the manager. The only solution I could get was to get only the nails that were damaged fixed with the same gel polish (seriously). Never coming back. I do not recommend this place. read more

This place was disgusting for one. For two it's $25 for gel & if it's color he'll it's more. Polish was done sloppy. Over priced for awful work. I walked in with the intention of getting my eyebrows done but once I notice a corner with a chair and trash on the floor near it from previous work, plus the wax dish with 3-4 sticks inside being used constantly, I decided not to (wax was $9). Not to mention their was a client getting her lashes and eyebrows done in front of other customers because the shop is so small. I'm not one to be upset or post bad reviews but this is the worst experience I've ever had. Staff was polite as was I so it wasn't any disagreements, but if I chose to get gel on my toes the price would have been $79 and that's without a pedicure. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME. Ps I still tipped the gentlemen who did my nails because I am respectful. read more

I have been here many times for pedicures, manicures, and the new-ish UV cure gel manicures. The shop is small and simple, but it has everything I look for in a nail salon. The prices are low, it's kept very clean, and the technicians are friendly (although there is occasionally a language barrier). Most days, there's minimal or no wait for a walk in, unless it's a really popular time, such as right after work, on a Friday, in the summer. They have a pretty basic setup for their manicures, but they do a good job, and the gel manicure I recently got stayed pretty for at least 3 weeks. For pedicures, they have massaging chairs and whirlpool foot baths, and their "spa pedicure" adds a cooling aromatherapy mask treatment and scrub, with massage, for your feet and calves. They also do waxing and other salon services, however I haven't been in for anything but manicures or pedicures. read more

I was looking for a new nail spa close to my home and had always passed by this one, wondering if I should take a chance. One Friday afternoon, a look at my toes and limited time in my schedule told me I HAD to take the risk. So I consulted Yelp and ended up here. I had a pedicure here a couple weeks ago --that is still looking quite fresh I might add. Quality work done by the only man there. He was pleasant enough, but not chatty. Which is what I prefer as I'm there to relax and read my book! They were pretty busy as it was a Friday afternoon. But luckily they had an open chair so I was able to sit and soak for a while longer than typical while he finished up other clients. Shop is small, but clean. They have a wide assortment of magazines and looks like they have quality colors. Think I'll be a regular. read more

Let me start off by saying that I only came here due to the yelp reviews. This shop seem to be the highest rated salon in the area. I arrived at 9:45 sign on door states they open at 10:00 well by 1015 someone finally arrives. The two girls that arrive had Starbucks coffee which is why they were probably late. Then to find out they don't do nails, how frustrating. Asked if I could stay five more minutes someone was coming, so I agreed. Another person walked in didn't say hello nothing at all and when she felt that she was ready she flagged me over, how rude is that? I Will never be returning to the salon again. I would've only given them a one star but because the nails came out adequate I will give them one star, but certainly will never see my business again!!!!! read more

This is the first nail salon I went to since moving down here! I got a pedi with gel which was $50 all that was done was cuticle remover and gel polish they soaked my feet in very little additive to the water and never bothered to remove any dead skin from the bottom of my feet or anything else! I than got a gel manicure which I had to ask several Times to have them filed down bcuz they were sharp! They never made conversation with me only amongst themselves! I've had many many mani/pedi in my life and this by far has been the absolute worst! I wouldn't even waste your money I pretty much got a $100 service I could have done on myself for $20!!!!! Don't go: Dirty, a lot of color sections but very poor quality. No OPI or Essie. I agree with a previous review. This place is filthy, I felt it the as soon as I came in; I would have left but they seem happy to get the business on a weekday. Most pedi consist of a hot towel, lotion, etc. for no extra price. However, here they offer different prices for a hot towels and lotion. I paid for a pedi, and it seemed more like a color change treatment. The water for my pedi was barely luke warm (it felt like the water was sitting there waiting for any costumer), and the towel that my foot rested on was dirty. I was somewhat skeptical to even place my foot in the tub, because I was feel as though they don't clean it well. read more

For my birthday, decided to try some acrylic nails. This may be the first time I've ever had them, but I didn't expect for them to come apart so easily. A mere four days after the nails were done, air bubbles began to appear at the base of the nail, indicating the separation of the acrylic for my nail. I thought I got lucky with a nail shop open late on sunday, but be careful what you ask for. Honest review. I wanted to like this place but it's in need of a serious cleaning. And I'm not a neat freak. I walked in at 415pm. It's busy. That's always a good look! I tell the young lady I simply wanted a polish change and brows. I pick my color and sit. Two more women come in each wanting more extensive services and they take them ahead of me. I'm thinking they had appointments. But I ask one she laughs and says nope!. It's cool. I'm not in a rush. Enjoying the newest Costco magazine read on wines. But while reading I take a hard have at my surroundings. Old and polish stained chairs. Trash cans overflowing. Floor hadn't been swept in a while. No paper towels to dry my hands and the worse part not one person said a word to me besides asking what services I wanted. No hi or hello. Smh. I didn't get the brows done. I couldn't. But my nails look fine. It was just a polish change because I had a mani a few days prior. I didn't leave a tip and I left the second she finished not waiting one moment to dry. I'll never go back. read more

A regular pedicure is $22 but when I asked for gel she told me it's $23 extra, when I asked her why she told me because I am getting gel. So my total came up to $45. I don't think that's reasonable as gel is usually just $5-$10 extra. Also they aren't really friendly. I have been to Chau Nails several times . I stated going to another nail salon in Wheaton because they honestly do a MUCH better job, in a nicer shop , but Chau is so close to home that I always try to give them another chance . The owner has always done my nails (LEE ) I believe is her name . I will NEVER go to Chau nails again !!! I came to to get a pedicure and gel manicure wound up paying 70$ ( last time i paid 65$) , i let that slide thinking maybe because she did something special this time. After my pedicure she started to put the pedicure flip flops on my feet , the kind that people usually give after the pedi. She didn't take the flip flops out of any plastic like usual and i saw her brush them off . I asked to see the flip flop and to my surprise the OWNER was trying to put ALREADY USED FLIP FLOPS on my newly done FEET! The bottoms were black from ware. I was LIVID !!! In no situation is this ever OK. IF the owner is this disgusting what is she telling her staff? If you notice under where you dry your feet they have a basket for you to put your flip flops after you dry. Those are the ones that they reuse on new customers. Im sorry I work way to hard to be afforded the luxuries of getting my Nails and Feet done , i never want to experience service where they feel like they can not give me a new pair of .55 flip flops after iv paid $70 Sorry Chau you've lost a customer , a potential Loyal customer read more

I used to go to this place regularly for years but changed after my daughter found a good and more sanitary place nearby (Solar Nails). I went back to Chau's Mon or Tuesday for convenience. Big mistake. Still VERY dirty! Walked in and one manicurist took me quickly. She was in a bad attitude but I wasn't concerned because anyone can have a bad day. I left a $3 tip on $23 service; paid before finishing so nails wouldn't smudge. While under dryer I noticed messiness, I got her attention and waited for her to come over (still in bad attitude). She wasn't happy but fixed it. Today's Thursday morning, two days later - my nails are a mess; interview later today. I went back. I never go anywhere with a complaint but this was too much. Miss Bad Attitude still had a bad attitude and Billy and Manager of the moment decided to chime in - in native language - no, he can't speak English. Yes, they finally fixed the nails (put polish over top, refused to do over without charging). I told the manicurist I won't be back, and would tell others - she said that's okay. So, here it is. read more

I am loyal customer here, I always get my nails done here but lately they have been lacking in their services they are rushing and not doing their best. My nails have chipped on multiple occasions and messed up only days after leaving the salon. On this most recent visit my nails were ruined only after 2 days. I always get gel, and I am never cheap. I will be not be giving this salon anymore of my money. So I came in last week to get a pedicure everything went great I had good service. Today when I come in to get a color change, it wasn't so great. I come in and was seated right away by the guy that works here. I don't know what his name is but it's only one guy that works there. He cleans the the hot pink polish off my toes but didn't get all the polish off. I told him that the polish is not all the way off, he said the new polish color which is lime green, is going to go over it so you can't see it. So he cleans it off and it was still there. I hate this place I only come here because it's close to my house but I bet you I won't come again. Another situation just happened before I left. I'm sitting there drying my feet and the guy confronts me about taking a picture of their face waxing station. I sure did take a picture, it looks terrible. Renovate and you wouldn't have a problem. Place looks DIRTYYY!! Then the lady or manager takes a picture of me. Take a picture, frame it because I won't be coming back. So from now on I will be going else where that has better service.
