I was very disappointed in my recent purchase of a "Hulk" costume for my grandson. The costume was $36 dollars and I purchased the extra Hulk gloves for $21...all in all with shipping I spent $75 for a costume, that I then found at my local Walmart for $15 (gloves not included). I have purchased more expensive items in the past from Chasing Fireflies that I was only so-so satisfied with. I REALLY wished that I had checked Yelp before ordering from this company. I ordered a Halloween costume for my daughter on Oct. 8th. While I did receive a confirmation email of my order, I heard nothing until I called them on Oct. 20th - a week and a half before Halloween and nearly two weeks after the order was placed. Several days before calling, I wrote an email inquiring about my order (included the order number) with no response. After being on hold for over 45 minutes, I found out that my entire order (3 pieces) was being held because one of the items was on backorder. No email was ever sent! I was told the remaining items would ship today (coincidence?). They told me my order would be received by 10/27/17; however, the tracking says 10/30/17. We'll see if it gets across the country in time for Halloween. These costumes are not cheap. I wanted my daughter to have "nice" costume this year and splurged on Chasing Fireflies thinking the costume would be top quality. After reading the other reviews, that may not be the case. Like other people, I've had a horrible experience with this company. They charge an exorbitant amount for shipping, and my order (which only had to travel 75 miles) did not even arrive in time. Customer service refused to respond to me. Then when the order actually came, it was missing an item. Their customer service will not answer the phone though--they just leave you on hold for an hour. read more

I called to get the money as a credit to my credit card, waited on hold for 1hr 45 mins. When someone finally took my call, she was rather nasty and wouldn't correct their mistake. Because I wasn't receiving my order, I spoke to Customer service on Sunday, October 22nd, and they said my order would ship either Monday or at the latest Wednesday, October 25th. They said I would have my order by Friday, October 27th. I called today, Wednesday, October 25th, and the customer service representative said that my item was OUT OF STOCK when I placed my order (even though it said it was in stock on October 11th, and the customer service representative said it was in stock on Sunday, October 22nd). I created an account just to write a bad review - that's how bad the customer service was. I ordered costumes Oct 5. Two weeks later, they still hadn't shipped. I called customer service and was number 49 in line. I waited more than 1 hour to talk to someone. Have been a long customer of Chasing Fireflies and spent a gazillion dollars there over the years but they ruined this year's Halloween. We get (on average) over 2,000 people in my neighborhood for Halloween. It is a big deal and everyone goes all out. My daughter wanted to be a donut waitress so we centered our entire family around donuts and coffee and I ordered her "in stock" costume in early September. Everyone else's costumes arrived and every day she asked if hers came in. I finally talked with customer service who said they were sorry, that it was "in stock" and would ship it out the next day. Another costume (for my dog) came in the next day and I waited another 5 days for .... A TRANSFORMER COSTUME (or something looking like a Transformer costume). When I called and asked them to send me my donut waitress costume they said ... so sorry - we're "out of stock." They could do nothing to help and did not really care to help. Guess who is spending a gazillion dollars somewhere else to have a donut costume made for this year. I ordered an item from there cyber Monday sale. Received an email thanking me for my order and that it would ship in about a week. They put a hold on my bank account for the money for quite a while and I just assumed it was withdrawn. When I didn't receive it a few weeks later I called in and was told that their website doesn't update the inventory like it does if you call in the order. They said it was on back order and It would ship out sometime in March. Then I received an email saying the item would ship out on Feb 1st and my account would be charged that day. I don't get paid until the 3rd so I called to request they put the order on hold for a couple of days. The customer service people treated me terribly and said there was nothing they could do. I asked to speak with a manager who said I'm the ONLY person that he has ever heard of this happening to and that there was nothing he could do to help me. Never apologized for anything and made me feel like a bad person because I don't have hundreds of dollars in my bank account at the ready. Very disappointed this year. I ordered last year and everything worked out reasonably well. This year I placed two separate orders. Had trouble with getting information on line about one of them. I sent three emails over three days and 2 weeks later have still not received a response to any of them. I decided to call and after waiting 2hrs 32 minutes on hold (I'm stubborn), I was basically told that they had incorrectly held my item for personalization, a supervisor stated that she released my order for immediate shipment and I would have it by 10/27. That was on 10/26 and as of today, it appears not to have even shipped! Very, very poor customer service. Costumes are cute, but very pricey and I paid for expedited shipping. Terrible experience for me. Delivery was ridiculously slow...18 days for a personalized Santa hat. After I ordered, I didn't receive a confirmation so I called three days later. The order was in their system but I was told there was a problem with it. If there was a problem, why wasn't I called? It had something to do with the delivery address so I repeated all the info I had inputted on their website. 18 days later and less than a week before Christmas, the personalized Santa hat finally arrives but the kid's size hat is too small for a 4 year old. Save yourself the trouble of having to return every purchase. Honestly, the quality is fantastic, however every order I have placed has had missing items. They are quick to cancel items from your order and still charge you for them, without letting you know. The last order I placed was 2 pairs of shoes. I cancelled the order, yet they still processed it and sent me 1 pair of shoes and a random dress! I contacted customer service, and they advised me that the shoes I ordered (and was charged for) were out of stock, so they sent me a dress. This company is irresponsible and unethical. I have to take the time out of my day to ship the purchase back to them, and pay for shipping, then wait for them to refund everything when this purchase was for a wedding that is 6 days away! Several days later I hadn't received a shipping email. i called and was told it would be shipped the next day. The next day came, no email. So, I called again. This time I was told that they were very busy but, she would walk my invoice over to the warehouse. A couple of days later, I called again. This time they told me that they were going to upgrade everyone;s shipping and that it was guaranteed to be here by today, October 26th. When I got home this evening, no package, I did get a tracking number so I tracked it and it said it would be delivered Saturday, October 28th. Have purchased in the past and items were fine. Not this time. Customer service has since gone downhill. Much like the poster below, I purchased Uggs for my daughter for Christmas. They were personalized incorrectly with the rhinestones facing the inner side of the boot so that after wearing them 3 times most of the stones rubbed each other and fell off. Took forever for them to send me a shipping label, in the meantime I had to pay for a new pair so I have now paid for 2 pairs(and had to pay more for the new pair as they were out of the item I originally ordered). They have had my return for over a month and no refund yet. They are blaming it on their warehouse change. What a mess. I wrote a review on their site and a week later they deleted it as they have the right to decide which reviews to post on their site. When I had posted there were 3 negative ugg reviews on their site, all now gone. So, don't believe the reviews on their website as they edit the negative ones out. Most disgusting company ever! I placed an order on 11/28. Was told on first call this week it was ready to be shipped out but would go out on wed. I never received an email for confirmation so we called today 12/11. Was told by first rep they are backed up that personalization takes now 7/10 days which we have already had. This completely contradicts the call on Tuesday and what the website stated. I then went to a supervisor who said it takes 12-14 days!! So in 4 min it changed! I can't even believe this is the way you conduct business ! I cancelled my order which she said she would be more than happy to. Seriously??!
