After looking up a bunch of maternity consignment stores in the area, I was disappointed that they were all scattered throughout Seattle, with none on the Eastside. Additionally, most reviews said to regularly drop in to these places because selections change. This is challenging for an Eastsider because I can't be driving in every week when I have other things I need to do. Luckily, we were planning a trip into the city anyway, so I decided to check one of the nearby stores out. Sugarlump is currently listed as children's clothing, but it does have maternity clothes. I was leery going in because it looked small, but after shopping inside other other stores, the selection is quite good. There were plenty of options in my size: dresses, skirts, pants, jeans, shirts, and jackets. I tried on half a dozen pieces and walked away buying 4! Not bad! Like some people said, you need to check the labels. The shirts were all generally about $8-10 which is a great deal for most brands. There were some brands, like the Target line, where that price is almost their new price. So, be a bit careful, but overall there are some excellent savings. Besides checking the labels, also check the price tag. If there is one hole punched, you get 30% off, and 2 holes punched means 50% off! I got a pair of Motherhood Maternity jeans for $10! Super exciting. The quality is excellent, as well. The clothes look practically new, and I definitely plan on returning for my future child's clothes. There are tons of kids' clothes, and it would be nice to get good deals on those as well. I am doing 4 stars for now, but that's because the store met my standards for a good consignment store on this visit. Hopefully a future visit can prove I wasn't just super lucky. :) read more

I went in for maternity clothes and was disappointed at the selection. More disappointing was when I went to ring up a tank top and the woman just stared at me before ringing me up, not warmly, rather rudely. I felt more uncomfortable than excited shopping here. I'm not sure if she meant to come across that way but it's worth addressing. I decided to drive up to Childish Things right after this stop up in North Seattle and they had several cute things so my mission was accomplished in the end but a comparison review for by this new Mom-to-be was in order. read more

This place is small, but has a nice selection of used infant through toddler-sized clothing & shoes, as well as a few gently used maternity pieces. Up front is a small selection of books & toys for the kiddos. The location is great for me as I can usually make a few stops at neighboring shops to run a few errands on the same block. I was surprised by how many maternity clothes they had in my size! I got a fabulous dress for $35, and a great skirt for $10. It is definitely hit or miss, but if you are looking for some nice items to supplement your wardrobe at a fraction of the cost of new, this is a great option. I will definitely go back! The store is a little small and the selection can be a teensy bit limited (hence 4 rather than 5 stars), but you would expect a store this size to have higher prices.... but no. I am a consigner. I dropped of my clothes and received a list of clothing they wanted to keep. I went back to pick up my unwanted items, but they had a very hard time finding them. They did eventually locate them. Then I called after the consignment period was over to arrange pick up of my unwanted items. The person on the phone couldn't find a record of me at first, and after she finally did, said she couldn't find any of my clothes so "they must have all sold." I said great, I'll take a check. But, after consigning there twice and having my clothes not accounted for by the store I cannot support a business that lost over $200 worth of merchandise. More information: Dropped clothes via their fill out a sticker and leave on the bag method. Twice my clothes weren't logged I emailed, called, and visited over 5 times to locate my items. I'm torn on how to rate this store, as the maternity selection (which is why I was there) was rather awful. I'd give it a 1.... Maybe a 2. The baby stuff, however, looks fantastic. Probably a 4 or 5. So I'm netting out at 3 overall. They say they only accept boutique/designer brands, but the majority of the maternity wear is Gap, and there were even a couple pieces from Target. There is nothing wrong with any of that, but it isn't what they claim to carry. When I'm ready to buy baby stuff in a few months I will certainly go back, but if you're looking for maternity wear you won't find much here. read more

The clothes for kiddos are adorable, although I did not spend much time looking at them. The maternity selection was small and I had difficulty finding things that matched my style. My daughter and I went to visit earlier this week for our first time ! It's about a 25 min drive from our house and well worth it! The store is extremely welcoming from the moment you arrive! Malia, the new owner is so welcoming, helps you with items your looking for and has a wonderful demeanor ! I usually like this place. I shopped here frequently for my older son, but hadn't been in for awhile when I stopped by yesterday with my nine month old daughter. I bought a few items for her and waffled on a pair of shoes for her brother. "You can always return them within ten days," the woman at the register assured me. Today I tried to return them but was greeted with indifference by a different, younger woman at the register. Apparently you have to have consigned here within the past year in order to get your store credit and returns are only good for in store exchanges. I expressed frustration at losing previous store credit and am annoyed that the woman yesterday didn't mention returns are not returns but exchanges. I ended up walking out in frustration, saying "Just keep them." The young woman at the register just impersonally and frustratingly said, "Bye." The $7.99 shoes are not that big a deal. But the shady promises yesterday and impersonal service today will keep me from returning to this store. I'd expect that caliber of service from Wal-Mart or McDonald's, not a neighborhood business I'd like to support. read more

The best way to describe this place is probably in terms of the deals I've gotten there. This is not the place to go for used books or toys (check out Me 'n Moms or Kids on 45th for those) but this is THE place to go to find beautiful boutique children's clothing. I personally have found things like a Burberry dress for $15, a D&G Baby snowsuit for $50 (originally over $300), Oilily pants for $10, Mulberry Bush Coveralls for $7. All looked brand new and were in mint condition. You will not be disappointed. read more

I found a nice maternity coat here but otherwise found the selection to be lacking. I soon found out why. I tried to consign some items when I was done with them and they didn't even look through all the items I brought in. They did end up trying to sell a maternity swim suit. It didn't sell and at pick up time they had "lost" the bottoms. When we asked about it they said they often lose things or have items stolen. The consignment process was disappointing and frustrating all around. Other Seattle shops are easier to work with. read more

I like this place. It's in a little enclave of baby-type stores (birth and beyond, spolied by nana, etc) on one little block so it's worth visiting all of them. I thought the prices were a little high but found a cute maternity top and some baby washcloths that weren't too bad. They have really nice diaper bags but they are a little pricey for my budget. It's not a big space so their selection is somewhat limited...this isn't necessarily a bad thing, I'm finding. I think this place reflects the neighborhood it's in--hip and pricey. read more

The handful of times I've walked into this store in the last three years, I've been utterly disappointed with the dismal selection and laughable prices. Particularly because I tried to consign here once, and they didn't accept any of the clothes - including a lion Halloween costume in perfect condition. I was very surprised, given the poor selection of costumes which were out on the floor a month later. There should have been no reason why that alone was not accepted, let alone two full bags of perfectly fine baby clothes. (I was also informed that they don't accept "big box" clothing brands, yet the store is always filled with Carter's. Yeah... Ok.) Such a shame, since this shop is in my neighborhood. After that experience, I went straight to Kids on 45th - they have been great! But I keep hoping Sugarlump changes ownership or gets their ish together... consigning here would be SO much more convenient, location wise! I honestly am baffled by how they are able to stay in business - terrible prices, dismal selection all around, and rude employees. Such a sad waste of prime real estate space. This is the best kids consignment store for clothing in the Seattle area. Period. They also have a HUGE assortment of used maternity wear. The clothes are unique, cute, in good condition, and fairly priced. I went in yesterday to consign some items and learned that there is a new owner, who had been an employee there for a long time. I appreciated that when I called to ask if she had Easter dresses and shoes in my kid's size, she didn't seem annoyed and happily went and checked for me so I didn't waste my time going to her store. When I got there, the nice employee wasn't annoyed that my small child was trying on all the shoes there -- instead, she sat and helped her. Awesome customer service. As a consignor, I take my nicest (best brand/best condition) clothes there, knowing that anything else will likely be rejected, and that's a good thing. That's why everything at this store is something your kid will get compliments on. I have had great luck consigning my maternity clothes here. I have bought beautiful designer diaper bags there, maternity wear (even when I wasn't pregnant) and some well cared for clothing that look almost brand new when my kids wear them.
