the staff is terrible. the cashier is very rude. i bought an item that has no price on it. and she said no price i have to go get another item that has the same price. my husband just said it is her job to know the price how are we supposed to know and she said it is not her job. she also said just pay and go go go. you are not only our customer go go go. how does it feel when you go shopping and get chased away like that? we are very upset about the attitude of the staff like that. we often shop here because the prices are good but the customer service is terrible. if possible i would like to rate zero stars read more

I was really pleasantly surprised by this Ross. It's been a very long time since I went to Northgate or downtown Ross stories, but this location has a parking lot, which is a step up from downtown and easier to navigate than the garage options at other stores. The spots are kind of small but if you park further away it isn't as crowded. I really appreciated how well sorted everything was. The men's shoes, women's lingerie, and all the housewares aisles seemed very organized. What little disarray there was seemed clearly a result of shoppers that day, and not continued lack of maintenance. I will say it really blows waiting in line. The day I came they only had customer service stands open, so everyone checking out was waiting for much longer returns to occur before they could take the next guest. read more

I got a counterfeit 20 from this store upon making a return. I didn't realize it until a few days later when I went to pay for a plant and the cashier said this is fake. The Ross receipt was still wrapped around it and I rarely carry cash.The store was very nice about it, because could have called the police on me. I called Ross and they did not care. Finally. A discount store near enough to walk to... assuming, that is, I'd be willing to trudge back home laden down with cheap goods. I've had good luck with Ross for years, especially finding unique and interesting shirts. I can't count the number of times I've seen something I liked at Macy's or Nordstrom, held out and seen the same items at Nordstrom Rack, held out some more and found them at Ross for as little as a quarter of the original asking price. The only problem is that for whatever reason, patrons of Ross tend to be total slobs. I'm generally afraid to try on those "finds" at Ross (I'll try them on at one of the other stores instead) as I've many times witnessed severely smelly, dirty people trying on clothes over their own, then throwing the clothes back on the rack. Ick. I should clarify that that was at the downtown Ross, not this particular location. No, for the most part my neighbors tend to pay a little more attention to their hygiene, at least as far as I have seen. The trade off here is that the selection doesn't seem to be as large as at other stores. So where I may find that English Laundry or Fender shirt at the downtown Ross, I'm not likely to find it at this one. But otherwise this one is a tad bit cleaner. A tad bit. There still tends to be stuff strewn around on the floors, but at least it doesn't smell funny. I just wish they'd pay more attention to having as many checkers as the line warrants. I've spotted items I might buy, only to put them back and leave empty handed because I didn't want to wait. read more

From Cali and had to come to shop for some clothes. Nice Ross. Wasn't too crowded like it is in California. They had a nice selection of clothes. My son is a big & tall size kid-they didn't have much for him to choose from. But we did find something. Clean. Security upon walking is was welcoming. Went in to buy some items yesterday and met the worst supervisor ever. She was very rude and kept rolling her eyes the whole time she was scanning our items. Asked her to get us a purse because it was locked on the purse rack and she took forever fo grab it. Ross, like other stores of its ilk are a just like a mixed plastic bag of weird stuff at Goodwill, you can't really open it to make sure it's what you want, you just gotta trust or walk away. Like a regular yearly care package from a distant relative, there is occasionally some good items with the general crap no one wanted so it ended up here. For me, the scores usually consist of: replacement or additional pans from my reasonably expensive cookware set, cheap but fashionable heels or boots (meant to wear to the club a few times but won't and shouldn't last) 'designer-lite' (think Betsy Johnson or Fossil) handbags cheap lingerie random frames or tchotchkes like resin Buddhas for $10 and last but in no way least... cheap but nice enough bedding. I've found odd cooking things like awesome snowflake sprinkles for $1.99, fondant for $3.99 and actual Turkish Delight. Of course I bought the Turkish Delight! I'll see if I can lure anyone to do something horrible for me now. read more

This Ross is the bomb! The trick with these types of stores is to go during the week. I have had the best luck on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Today I scored 2 beautiful dining room chairs (wasn't expecting that) and some great ceramic pots for my deck. I'll be back. read more

This will be short and sweet. I love this gangsta way of shopping. I hate shopping; unless it's food shopping. I can tolerate U-Village to shop, only because I can run outside of the individual stores and gulp in fresh commerce-free air--unlike going to a regular mall. Random findings include my next running shoe, emergency work shoes, and cheap boots; ear buds for my phone, a new Coleman camping lamp, beautiful serving dishes, inexpensive wine glasses, curtains, towels, and my favorite: BRAND-NAME WORKOUT CLOTHES! Men will not find a lot of selection for them here, unfortunately. But it's still fun for both guys and gals to look at the odd-ball things they have in stock. Shop here. Be patient. Enjoy the mad-cheap deals. Stop over at Safeway or Starbucks to mentally heal after the check-out process ;) read more

This place has only been open a week, and already it's on its way to becoming as much of a dump as all the other Ross Dress for Lesses. You can tell from the crowds, South Seattleites are starved for discount shopping! We don't have a Fred Meyer, we don't have a Target, but now we have a Ross Dress for Less. And damn near everybody within a 3 mile radius was there at 8pm on a Thursday? Aisles littered with apparel and shoes, racks in disarray.... it was a real piece-a-work. Looks great to me! Much less a mess than most Ross stores I've been in, although we'll see how that shakes out in the long run. I bought a really REALLY nice pair of slacks for $10, and a belt as well, also $10. The belt unfortunately looked nice on the rack, but it failed in less than ten days. There was no problem at all about returning it for a refund (I kept my sales slip.) As the previous reviewer mentioned, South Seattle is woefully underserved by clothing and general retailers. Kudos to Ross for recognizing this and moving in to the market! I'll be a regular customer. read more

I love a bargain. But this Ross is seriously lacking in merchandise, and the dozens of security cameras (look up at the ceiling) really creep me out. Also, they hardly ever have enough people working the cash registers, so be prepared to wait in some really frustrating lines. Still, when you live in the Columbia City/Beacon Hill/Seward park area, as I do, you are not close to a Target, Walmart, or even a Bed, Bath, & Beyond. This is really a bummer. So I appreciate that I can come to this Ross and always find things like pillows and various kitchen items (pots and pans as well as weirder things like biscuit cutters). Safeway (next door) also has a decent supply of kitchen stuff, but they're more expensive and the quality isn't as good. If you're looking for the designer clothes that often comes to these types of places (brands like Theory, Trina Turk, Elizabeth & James, etc.) you will not find them at this particular Ross. For those type of deals your best bet is the Nordstrom Rack downtown. read more

I was so excited when Ross opened in my neighborhood. (Yes, I know; I need to get a life.) But, I am a big fan of the "discount department store." I enjoy browsing their shelves and seeing what wares are to be had on any given day. I admit to thinking of Ross as being the Division II counterpart to Marshall's and TJ Maxx, but it is not without its merits. This particular Ross is, well, very Rossy. That is, like all Ross store: It is fairly disorganized. Its aisles are narrow and crowded. And, there is always (always, always) a line at the registers. BUT, I can walk there from my house. I visit fairly frequently. AND, more than once I have found just right shirt, pair of socks, salt shaker I have needed at just the right time. I hope they stick around... read more

The store just opened up last week, and me and my mom were really excited about it's new opening. I didn't expect it to be any more different than the one in Downtown, but wow, it seriously was. The changing rooms were so much better, you didn't have to walk up and down some stairs, and the selection of clothes are actually way more organized, maybe it is because it is still new. The staff there are a thousand percent nicer. The layout is weird, I couldn't find the cosmetic as accessories center. Maybe I'll find it next time I go. Oh, and I accidentally bumped into this girl and I did say 'excuse me" then I turned around and she looked at me in shock, I was like what the heck is your problem, because she looked as if she were 11 or something. It's Ross. It's a mess and the employees are pretty rude. I had never been to this location but was in the area so I decided, take a risk. The store is laid out really weird. It is not messy in there which was surprising. The biggest issue I have with this location was the security guard that seemed to be following me around. I have never stolen anything in my life and I sure as hell am not going to start now at 32! Step off, I have a good paying job to pay for the crap they sell at Ross. Ugh. I visited Ross this past weekend with my mom, not bad (for Ross).. I'm usually *not* a fan of Ross (think cheap duds, random crap that you really shouldn't buy anyway), but this Ross isn't half bad, which is why I believe it deserves the higher rating. I'm usually a Marshalls girl. I've been to a few Ross stores and always found them to be the cheapie version of Marshalls, with inferior product, less brand names. At this Ross, I found quite a few goodies to buy, all good brands, decent quality (not overly worn down or damaged, hence the discount store). The one weird thing - the store felt nearly empty. It's a large store, maybe it used to be a grocery store, so this store felt empty, like a "going out if business" sale. Regardless, I liked what I found, will definitely go back. read more

After going to so many Ross stores in the Greater Seattle area, I have to say... this one is the biggest, cleaness, and most organized Ross store I've been to. When living in the Federal Way area, I used to go to the one down there and it'd always give me a headache! It was so unorganized and cluttered that I couldn't get around. Then there's the one at Southcenter. That one is probably the busiest since it's by the mall and there's rarely anything on their racks. Then there's the one in Renton at The Landing. I found myself going to that one, because it was organized and very clean. But now that I finally stepped into the one on Rainier, I'm in love! It doesn't look that big from the outside but once you go in, WOW!!! Spacious and bright! I'll be coming back, especially since it's close to my parents' house. read more

If you're expecting a upscale shopping experience with excellent customer service and super organized merchandise, you won't find it here. What you WILL find is amazing deals on some really nice stuff. I've been here a couple times, and I've found the trick is to not go with something REALLY specific in mind. I went this evening with a more general item in mind--a large handbag--and found an adorable Nine West one in perfect condition, which I got for 28 dollars (original price was 80). It's not just clothes, too--they have all kinds of stuff, from toys to shoes to bags to trinkets to kitchen and bathroom stuff. It's kind of a smorgasbord of all kinds of things, so I actually find it sort of fun to peruse and see what they've got! I think where people go wrong is they go in expecting everything to be perfectly organized, and thinking they will find exactly the thing they had in mind. The store is definitely not organized--in fact, some shelves seem like they are just "miscellaneous" with all kinds of random stuff on them--but if you are patient and a little bit open minded, you will walk out with some great deals. Some people have said that it's crowded--I usually go either midday on a weekday or about an hour before closing on a weekend. I've never had to wait in a long line (or usually any line at all!) when I go during those times! And the staff is always polite, although if you go during a busy time they are understandably harried. read more

I love hunting for a bargain. I often shop at Marshall's and TJ Maxx. But Ross? I don't know. They just aren't in the same league. Clothing on the floor, indifferent employees. This Ross, in particular, seems to have a creepier vibe than the average Ross. Kids running around screaming. Food packages that look like they may or may have not been opened. Before this was Ross, it used to be Longs Drugs, so it has come a long way! This location has plenty of parking as it's in the same plaza as Safeway, Starbucks, Department of Licensing, Magic Dragon, and a few other stores. I like to come to this location for home goods like furniture, bedding, and etc. They don't really have a good selection of shoes--especially size 5 shoes. Jeremiah, Elisha and David were heroes to my family at this Ross. my mother was shopping at Seattle Ross and she was extremely wobbly on her feet. Jeremiah, being incredibly intuitive and thoughtful, was keeping an eye on her while still managing his store, when suddenly she collapsed and luckily, thanks to his diligence, he caught her! Had he not caught her she would have probably hit her head very hard. He then had her sit since she was very off balance, and Elisha was wonderful and kept getting her things she was insistent she still wanted to buy. Jeremiah made the very-smart decision that she was unable to drive and had her call me and I came to pick her up. Had she driven under her own accord I can't imagine what might have happened. Jeremiah helped us all the way to the car, even though he is a manager and I know he had a million things to do. I cannot tell you how much all of this meant to us. My mom is the world to me and had anything happened to her I would be beyond bereft. Thanks to the amazing staff you hired, she is okay and we got her to the doctor today. It turns out she was having mini strokes/TIAs. It would have been far worse without your team's help. read more

I'm like a Ross shopping and saving machine! It's conveniently located for me and has free parking. They are pretty stocked most of the time. They've got some new home decor stuff that I adore, but man, I can't just be buying stuff just to buy stuff. I need a purpose. I come here mostly for my kitchen gadgets and plant pots amongst other random things I've scored. Sometimes they have arts and crafts supplies at a really great price. Oh shoot! I forgot I came here to get a gift bag for a birthday present!! They're like a dollar a for a big bag! Damnit!! Anyway, I got healthy dog treats for my dog. Made in the USA. They also have a nice selection of baby stuff at times for the diaper cakes I make.. Want to order one? Yeah, so anyway.. I come here late so I don't have to wait in long lines or hear crying and screaming babies. They close at 10 or something. Around the holidays they opened until midnight. Sometimes I am the only one in there on my mini shopping spree. Ha! I'm pretty sure all the workers know me by now. I have been coming here for many years. Don't get me wrong some cashiers and security guys are lovely and they really try the best to make you feel welcome. But I'm talking about their bathroom and floor. Toy section is usually super messy but it's not the stores fault it's those customers who don't care about what their kids are doing so toys gets open, thrown around etc the store ppl can't do anything about it unfortunately. Another thing is their bathrooms and changing rooms. They smell. In the bathroom-Missing toilet paper etc. I really hope they will put some nice smell to mask the odor. Maybe they using weird cleaning supplies or something but that smell is definitely something. Changing rooms are horrible and smelling like a sweat. I'm taking about hard core Body odor. There must be something to make this experience in the changing room enjoyable for customers. Put some febreez or something please. The only reason this Ross is getting two stars is because the store has a great Home and Garden department. I've bought many kitchen appliances at excellent prices. Pots, pans, tea kettles, that sort of thing. As for clothes, the selection is laughable. The fitting room attendants are so rude and refuse to offer any customer service. Once, I brought my items to the register to pay and told the cashier that the fitting room attendant was so rude and she brushed it off as if it didn't matter. I'll go try on clothes at a store where the fitting room attendant doesn't mind grabbing me a size. Hmph. read more

I go to this Ross out of convenience - its close to my house, but every time I go here its the same thing: 1. Long lines with 1 or 2 registers open while staff are roaming around looking busy. 2. Hardly organized 3. Some staff members act like they can't stand you for asking a simple question or even shopping there I don't go in unless I absolutely need to get something in a pinch. read more

My dad is a dedicated Ross shopper. Once we drove [what should have been] six hours up the California coast, and he made us stop at every Ross, Marshalls, and TJ Maxx along the way. So trust me when I say this Ross isn't worth the trip or the time. It's understocked, it doesn't have higher quality clothing (I think they ship all the Calvin Klein etc to downtown) and it doesn't have very many smaller sizes (size 0, 2, 4 or size small women's). In other departments it seems to be better stocked; I once found a nice set of wine glasses and a pair of Columbia hiking boots here, but pretty much I only go now when my dad is in town and really looking for things to do. read more

I am super upset! I was shopping here and there and this worker was super rude to me. Would not answer any if my questions and acted like I wasn't standing in front of her! I feel like its because of some beef she has with my friend. But I don't know her. Her name is Margaret and she should be fired anyways because I know for a fact that she 1) steals from Ross 2) has called in multiple times saying she was sick but really she was eating shrooms or at home getting high. Ross is my go to place for Puma socks and cheap good quality hair care. Its not the same exact products all the time but I aways find something useful. Scored a HUGE bottle of TIGI Bed Head shampoo and conditioner for $11 each when I paid $30 each for the set I was almost out of at home. Yay!!! Happy camper here! Its also super convenient to the parents house and next to a Safeway. Not so great of a neighborhood but there's always a Seattle police in the parking lot or inside the Safeway so I feel somewhat safe. read more

Considering how this place is in the hood, I've never felt like I needed to take a shower after visiting this location. They have a great selection of items. While most of the time I don't go into a Ross expecting to find exactly what I'm looking for I was able to find some BedHead color stay shampoo at a bargain. This Ross is disorganized, poorly planned and messy. Despite these attributes you can still find great bargains if you are willing to dig for them. The problem is not the store but the staff running the store. They are usually unfriendly, which I can live with but I can't live with their rude attitude. You don't have to smile and welcome your customers, but you are getting paid to perform a job which involves a certain level of customer service. The staff at this columbia city Ross need to be trained on good customer service skills and how to leave their poor attitude at home. I'm done with this place. If you can deal with unfriendly, rude and culturally insensitive staff this is the store for you. read more
