I had originally planned to get my first bra fitting back in March before Covid after years of buying bras (that I thought fit) at the mall. I booked my appointment earlier this week and it was 100% worth it. Kaitlyn did a wonderful job. She nailed my size on the first try! It was a sign that this was the place I needed. It felt 100% better than the bra I was wearing when I walked in. I knew bra shopping would be overwhelming. Kaitlyn answered all my questions, helped me with straps, styles, and colors. I originally planned to purchase four bras and ended up getting eight total. They have a massive selection. I will be coming back.

The staff are knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. And will leave you alone if you just want to browse cute baby stuff. This is the only store I found maternity jeans, pants, tops, and bras that I loved and felt comfortable in during pregnancy. The baby clothes, supplies, and toys are all high quality and have lasted through two kids and were handed down to friends. Better for the environment and lower cost per use. All of the items are adorable too! It is a well curated, locally owned store, with a great selection.

In the space between pregnancies, it seems as if all brick and mortar maternity stores have disappeared. Buying maternity clothes online is a sure fire way to make you feel like garbage about yourself, which has been what I've been going through. I walked into the store and immediately found an employee who was completely happy to help me find something! She asked about my fit preference and color preference and whether I wanted over or under the bump jeans. She came through with a HUGE selection to try on. I found two pairs of jeans that made me feel really good about myself. Some people might consider them spendy (jeans run $70-$200 depending on brand) but I feel that it's worth it considering that these clothes will probably be worn daily for the next year. They also carry my favorite brand of bras, so I found a nursing bra in my size (which, again, is unheard of in a brick and mortar store...yes...H cup is a real thing!) and it was so nice to get to try something on before I bought it! Oh, I forgot to mention that they carry all range of sizing! It's so nice to go into a store where they realize that some pregnant women are not a size 6! And they have baby bump pillows to try on with your clothes so that you can see how adorable you'll be full-term! Keep being you, Village Maternity! This mama feels pampered today!

The staff is kind, patient, and very knowledgeable--they explained in detail the pros/cons of varying breast pumps, bottles, pacifiers etc...and in a way that was easy to understand. They're well organized and even handle insurance and billing directly. Nurturing Expressions is a gem for new and expecting parents--supportive, professional, and genuinely invested in helping families thrive. I can't recommend them enough! Thank you Nicole and team!

My insurance through my employer covers the Medela Symphony pump at 100%. I confirmed with my employer & insurance ahead of time and I also contacted nurturing expressions. They said some employers (insurances) don't, so there may be an upgrade fee I have to pay, but they've worked with mine before and it would be covered. I set up a pick up for the pump for my due date, gave them all information they needed and went about the business of having a baby. I picked up the pump without much issue - they even put a note on the rental agreement that the $90 + tax would be billed to insurance. All was well for a few months until someone at my insurance company made a mistake and did not cover the upgrade fee for a couple of months. At this point I contacted nurturing expressions and they were adamant that the upgrade fee is never covered by insurance and I have to pay. They were also baffled about the note about billing $90 + tax to insurance - someone at their store must have made a mistake since they bill more! But I have to pay the upgrade fee, they were adamant about that, so I immediately returned the pump to them and rented from a different place while I figure out what happened. I researched and called and talked to insurance and nurturing expressions multiple times and found that: - nurturing expressions bills $90 + tax to insurance AS WELL AS an upgrade fee of $59.09 which happens to be the difference between $90 + tax and what insurance covers ($40) for in-network providers. So they bill the negotiated discount with insurance as an upgrade fee - my insurance does cover the upgrade fee, but they made a mistake for those two months and they will send a check for the difference. They did so in June of 2024, so about 6 months after I returned the pump to nurturing expressions. You'd think all would end here, but in December of 2024 I started getting phone calls from a *collection* agency for those two months despite the fact that insurance sent a check to nurturing expressions.

Very natural and very 'us'. I hadn't had any professional photos since then though, because #1, I'm terrible at planning and prioritizing things like that (esp without a major reason/event, like a wedding), and 2, it didn't seem like it was really within my budget right now. However, being on her mailing list all this time I saw that she sometimes offers mini sessions and I finally took the plunge over the holidays with my 4 year old. It was great- it was super quick and easy, AND affordable. She's great with kids, keeping them talking and smiling and posing all while taking photos rapid-fire. Since it was a mini session, I was just hoping for a couple of good shots to use for our Christmas cards. Instead we got so many good ones it was really hard to choose which ones to use! I'm so happy to have these photos and am now fully convinced this is something I need to prioritize annually as my son grows up. We were so tired of…read morebeing treated like cattle by hospitals, with midwives giving us conflicting information, not listening to us, and leaving us feeling unsafe. So we reached out to Christine and In Tandem for a consultation. I honestly have always been a bit skeptical and afraid of home birth, so I came armed with a lot of questions. But once we talked (virtually) to Christine, we immediately felt compassion and care. She is the perfect guide - never pushing her own agenda, listening, but not afraid to give you her opinion. She backs everything up with science and her experience. Christine put us at ease throughout our pregnancy - That was the exact opposite to what we had experienced at our hospitals. She always listened, and even involved our oldest kiddo during visits. Christine and her team were amazing during our son's birth, we felt so safe and cared for. We had great postpartum care as well, coming to our home and checking on my partner, answering questions, and again, involving our older kiddo. It's been almost two years since, and we still miss Christine!

PART 2/2 (finishing our review on my husband's account due to character limit):…read more Now for the postpartum care. This is the most unique part of choosing midwifery care and in my opinion, the #1 reason to do so. Whereas in the traditional obstetric model you typically see your provider one time at 6 weeks (often just to make sure you don't have any signs or symptoms of postpartum mood disorder, to discuss birth control, and to clear you for sex and physical activity), Christine sees clients and their new babies about 6 times in the first 6ish weeks after birth. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all postpartum visits have been at home. These visits are about so much more than just you and your baby's physical well-being; they are focused on the entire family, involving older kiddos in the home, and it's evident that Christine genuinely cares about how everyone is adjusting and doing emotionally. For the first two weeks of your baby's life, Christine's license includes the provision of all routine pediatric care, saving you from additional appointments or trips out of the home so you as the birthing person can focus on recovering and celebrating your growing family. Again, the level of attentiveness and family-centered care received is unmatched. After the birth of our first son, I dealt with a resurgence of a lifelong struggle with anxiety related to the transition to parenthood. Until I connected to a community of West Seattle mama friends, I can genuinely say Christine and Taylor were the women who provided me with the most support. After the birth of our second son, I experienced some unexpected postpartum complications that required me to page Christine. I could have easily been sent to the Emergency Department for the symptoms I was experiencing, but Christine took the time to come evaluate me in the comfort of my own home and provide me with additional testing and support. If anything page-worthy arises during your time in care with In Tandem, you will receive a response promptly, and instead of a nurse line as in hospital-based care, you get to talk to your midwife directly. If you are looking for perinatal care that will change your life, look no further than In Tandem. The name of the practice is so fitting as your midwife will walk hand-in-hand with you and your family every step of the way. Pregnant families--run don't walk to In Tandem Midwifery!
