The Chart House was recommended during my stay in Jacksonville, Florida. I absolutely love the views, and the ambience of the restaurant is wonderful. The service was also impeccable! Our table had a variety of dishes to include everything from seafood to steak. The steak was ordered as a medium and it definitely came out on the rare side. I think this is unfortunate for a steakhouse. Temperature for steak is pretty standard and there was a significant difference in what was ordered what arrived. I enjoyed my fish, but it definitely lacked on the flavor side. Presentation for everything was top-tier. I did enjoy the molten chocolate cake, I think I'll definitely be back for that! I would go back because I really did enjoy this venues ambiance, and I'll make sure to order some different options. read more

Making our way back to Florida we like to break up the drive and layover somewhere. We like places that are in the hotel or walking distance. This place fit the bill. Right in the parking lot of the Marriott and right next to the water. The views were awesome! We had reservations but still had a 30 min wait. That was fine. The bar was nice and drinks were cold. They were stretched as most places are these days with the government still paying folks to stay home but those that were working were very efficient. After grabbing a great drink at the bar we were say right by the window with a great view of the river. Very nice! We started with Lobster bisque. It was smokey and delicious. Nice and creamy and full of lobster. For our main we split the Shrimp n lobster pasta. It was great. Cooked perfectly. Smokey flavor,cooked prosciutto. Deb did not like it but I thought it was delicious. We were pretty full by this point but we saved a little room for dessert. The Mud pie was as good as it looks! Overall we had a great time here. I've tried most of the menu, and it's all plated quite beautifully. The food was good, but drinks took forever or never came and I don't think it was our server's fault. Either the bartender(s) were not able to keep up with the drink orders in the restaurant or they were prioritizing some servers (or their own guests at the bar) over others. I used to work in a restaurant and know that can happen. Either way... the bartending service needs to be looked at. Either up the bar staff or make sure they are filling the orders as they come in... not picking and choosing which ones to do first. read more

First visit and will not be our last. Love entrance and decor and that doesn't include the beautiful view from the table. Arrived early and were seated early next to the river. Pricilla our server was a delight and very engaging and had great menu knowledge. The wine selection and appetizer suggestions were spot on. We knew we were having the prime rib, so went with the $54 10oz set meal. And that was above and beyond. Cooked to correct temps well portioned servings. I elected the New England Clam Chowder and this was the only thing that stopped them from five stars. The chowder had no clam bits and was very watery. Always enjoy a visit here This location is quite upscale and located in an amazing building. The outside of the building reminds me of a fort or a bunker, but it is very impressive. They outside lighting really shows off the architecture. This sets the tone for a nice evening. Service has always been good and the food selections cover most bases for most diners. Jacksonville's Chart House has a prime location on the the water of downtown Jax, overlooking the Daily's stadium. This gem has been here for a number of years serving fine steaks, seafood, and more. Unfortunately, I feel as if this restaurants time has passed after my experience here. For starters, the location is beautiful and the ambience is decadent, so you walk in with high hopes. after being seated at a table covered in white tablecloths, and formal servers coming up to me to explain the menu. I ordered the shrimp, avocado, and mango stack as an appetizer and the other person I was with ordered the clam chowder. These appetizers took about 45 minutes to come out and the soup was cold. Then, our entrées took about another hour to an hour and 15 minutes to arrive. My swordfish was very stiff, not flaky or juicy, and very mediocre. The bread that was served underneath it was rock solid and inedible. The person who I was with got A steak and mashed potatoes which came out stone cold. The steak was not cooked correctly either and I felt as if our entrees were sitting underneath a heat lamp in the window of the kitchen for 35 minutes. I will note that the plating of each dish was beautiful but the quality did not match the presentation. You do eat with your eyes first but what hits the mouth is more important. Needless to say, I'd skip out on my next invitation to Chart House..... read more

We made it to Monterey (from Texas) with 2 hours to spare as we had dinner reservations with old high school friends flying in from Florida. I had requested a window view since we were celebrating our 46th wedding anniversary and our friends' 49th. The Chart House accommodated us well and the 4 of us ordered "surf/turf" choices that did not disappoint. Our waitress, Cindy was very efficient and friendly. It was our first time there and our Florida friends' favorite restaurant choice in Monterey. Came here on a date. Haven't been in forever. View is beautiful. They have a nice salad bar with every topping you could imagine. Everything was very fresh too. For my entree I ordered the grouper and it was cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside and soft and flaky On the inside. It came with some orzo pasta but instead I got green beans and they were delicious. We didn't get dessert but maybe next time. Service was attentive. We had our Office Holiday party at the Chart House this year. They are closed during the day so that is when you can book time for your events. They offered appetizers such as a colorful vegetable tray, meatballs and chips and spinach dip which were passed and buffeted. We had previously made our choice of one entree, chicken picatta, steak medallions and a fish choice. At the end we had chocolate cake or cheesecake. It averaged out about $50ish a person. The food was good as always but as a event for over 50 people not so sure..maybe to have a nice dinner with a smaller number. They could use a remodel..or fresh new look is my opinion but they are a staple of downtown JAX and hope they stay that way. read more

I haven't found too many fine dining restaurants in the Jacksonville area, so this was a pleasant surprise when we came with our family for Christmas. It is in the same plaza as a hotel and has ample parking or a valet option. Located right on the river, it has beautiful views. We had to have a reservation since it was a holiday. It looks like it typically is only open in the evening when it's not a special event. We were seated with a great view of the water--the building is very unique looking, seemed like it was probably designed in the 70s or 80s, and so it has low curving ceilings that give the feel of a cruise ship when you walk in. We started off with the bruschetta plate which was delicious-it was not your traditional Italian plate, but instead an arrangement of yummy different bites like mushrooms, apricot jam, creamy chive cheese, and pimento cheese just to name a few. They had a salad bar option to go with your entree which was very yummy, with a few unique choicesslime heart of palm. They offer a gluten free/plant based menu which I greatly appreciate! I ordered the cauliflower entree which was delicious! It had a yummy red sauce with olives and a smoky flavor. The service was wonderful. I don't care what anyone says, you cannot beat their happy hour food and drink menu. And, the location is great with a river view, close to the water taxi if you are going to a game or a show (avoid the downtown gridlock during such events) and they have plenty of parking. The entire venue is super cool with interesting architecture. The service has always been great......The happy hour is very popular and gets busy so you will want to have someone in your party get there as happy hour starts in order to get your table! And, remember, even though the happy hour food menu is good - you can still order off of the regular menu. No reservations needed for the bar area! read more

The only thing about the chart house that has changed during covid is the salad bar....... or the lack there of. But the food quality has stayed about the same. Which is great, becauae they ussualy have fresh fish and good cuts of beef, and when is the last time you had a good cut of steak? Its like covid made all the cows tough and chewie. The cooks turn out a constantly good quality repertoir of food and service is impecable. I am looking forward though to the return of the salad bar...... and the caviar at the salad bar. read more

My husBen took me on a date last night. We went to The Chart House which we have both been wanting to try for quite some time. We ordered the clam chowder, lobster bisque and spinach dip as our appetizers. All three were REALLY good! Our server, Santiago, was beyond amazing! He was attentive, personable and a provided fantastic service. For our meals, I ordered the 14oz prime rib with the lobster tail. He ordered the 14oz strip steak with coconut shrimp. Both were impeccable. My lobster was a tad over cooked and needed a little bit of salt but was really good overall. Mark, the manager, came over and chatted with us for quite some time. We cracked jokes and spoke about various life topics. We will definitely be going back again. Always a fan of Chart House, Newport RI location was always good. I'm staying at the Southbank Hotel so Chart House couldn't be more convenient. I sat in the bar, bartender jumped right in to clear me a high top right by the entrance, and he was back in a few minutes to take my order. A second bartender stops by to see if I needed anything and I told him I had already placed my order. Good so far.... My cocktail and bowl of chowder came out promptly, chowder was good but I've had better from Dave's Supermarket in RI. Then 3 minutes after the chowder, my entree showed up. Now I have two hot meals to eat at once. The entree was tasty, portion size was small. So I finish my soup, entree, drink, and every scrap in the bread basket and it's like I'm the invisible man. I'm seated in the entrance to the bar so servers are going past me back-and-forth carrying plates of food and returning with empty dishes. But I guess I belong to the bartenders who have lost interest or something. No, "how does everything taste, would you like another drink, can I fill your water glass?" Invisible. And the bar is 1/2 empty at 8:00 on a Tuesday night. I finally stopped the bartender as he's walking right past me and asked for a check. 10 minutes later he's behind the bar washing glasses and completely forgot about me. So I flagged down another server and asked him to relay a message to the bartender. He comes out, apologizes and asked me if I needed anything. Our waiter Dylan, was very knowledgeable about the menu and specials and made great suggestions regarding wine and entrees. I had key west spiced grouper it was delicious. My dinner date had the coconut crunchy shrimp and said she would definitely get that again. For desert we had a trio of tiny crème brûlée's three different flavors which we obviously split between us and they were just enough. Definitely looking forward to my next visit. read more

Went for an early dinner. The place looks very mod like in the 50's and 60's aesthetic cool but needs an update. Now the food, we started with the shrimp coconut appetizer it was dry and overcooked . We shared a Caesar salad and it was blah! Not enough dressing, croutons and it was just not prepared as it should be. Maybe offer some anchovies on the side! C'mon guys put some effort to make a salad, it's not that hard! For the main course , we both ordered meat entrees, I had the Callahan Prime Rib and my other half had the filet mignon which was very tender and delicious. The creamed spinach was perfectly made, it wasn't drowning with cream like you get from other steak establishments , it was the best creamed spinach I ever had so far. It arrived on a sizzling hot cast iron dish. I will eat this spinach dish everyday. For dessert, we shared the small hot chocolate lava and it was sinfully rich and gooey deliciousness. Service was good. Our server offered us after we told her that the Caesar salad was not good but we declined and that was very attentive of her. We were staying next door for a football game and figured this would be the perfect place to stop in for dinner. We set up a reservation, and when we arrived, we noticed some spots at the bar, and since we left the game early, the game was showing there. So we changed our spot and sat at the bar. Very pleasant atmosphere, everyone was very friendly. Osean was our bartender and did an excellent job. Our cocktails were great, and then we had to decide on food. We realized we were hungry because everything sounded amazing. We finally figured out what to get, we started off with some oysters, very fresh and well shucked. My wife had the lobster bisque, which she had to keep me away after I tasted it, excellent. I had a shrimp cocktail, great presentation, I think it had a little dry ice under it, it looks great. It was good, honestly, amazing cocktail sauce, I know that's an odd thing to focus on, but too many places don't really get it right, they nailed it. Dinner, wife had the lobster tail, honestly, I understand what they were going for, it was poached in butter, but it really didn't have any seasoning to it. It was a touch on the tough side, but I understand how tricky lobster can be, it only takes a couple of seconds for it to go "over". Let me clarify, it wasn't bad, it wasn't overcooked, but it needed at least some salt and pepper, so being bland and adding the touch overdone, for the price, it wasn't really a winner. I went with the short rib special. It was quite good. I would probably order it again. Even though there were a few things on the menu I would like to try, the people next to us seemed like regulars and ordered a little bit of everything, and everything looked great. Went here last Tuesday for dinner with a colleague and, because it was Valentine's Day sat at a table in the bar (no reservations). Ordered the prime rib and so did my buddy. We both asked for medium rare and I clarified "some pink in the center ". Both were undercooked and we sent them back, I said "just give them a few more minutes". Apparently this means for them to give me a smaller cut that is pressed thin and burnt on a grill. Only took a picture of the first one. I sent the burnt one back and got a third (small, thin slice) back that was cooked correctly. Not worth the 85.00 at all. read more
