We visited for brunch and requested rooftop seating, and the ambiance up there was fantastic. It was our first time, and it definitely didn't disappoint. The space is large and inviting, the food was delicious, and the service was excellent. Looking forward to coming back and trying more from the menu.

We enjoyed a Sunday Brunch at Gemma Fish and Oyster which was wonderful! The staff here were super friendly and attentive to our family's needs. The ambiance is modern, clean and inviting. We choose to sit in the rooftop area which was nice and refreshing. We truly enjoyed everything that we ordered from the fish tacos, breakfast, beignets and seafood crepe. Everything was top notch for us. We will definitely be back in the near future!

The ribeye special was absolutely amazing! It melted in your mouth. I'm not sure if this is on the regular menu as it was listed as a special by the server but if you can try it, I highly recommend. Got the Bao and Caribbean jerk chicken skewers as appetizers and they were phenomenal. All in all food is 10/10. Closed out the night with a perfect espresso martini and that was, superb.

This restaurant is an amazing addition to the San Marco area of Jacksonville. I'd describe it as mid-upscale, with a welcoming, elevated ambiance and a covered rooftop, which is a huge plus. I've been three times now, twice for cocktails and appetizers and once for dinner. Each visit has been consistently impressive. I would say it's a great spot for groups, date night, or catching up with a close friend. Another standout perk is the complimentary valet, which I don't think is common in San Marco, though self-parking is also available nearby. The staff are very welcoming, efficient, and accommodating. The food has been excellent across the board. From the Bibb & avocado salad, spicy mussels, Caribbean jerk chicken skewers, crab & artichoke dip, to the truffle fries, you can't go wrong. They also offer a full bar with specialty cocktails, perfect for spicing things up a notch. For dinner, I was not disappointed. The scallops were perfectly cooked, and my friend couldn't stop raving about her fried redfish and the sauce it was served with. Overall, this place has all the makings of a San Marco staple, and I can't wait to come back again when I'm in town.

This place is really nice. Parking is atrocious but if you are patient enough, a place will open up. Definitely a place to set up reservations. When we left there were quite few people waiting in line. No drinks but Gemmas has a full bar with all types of drinks to partake. Started off with crabcakes with remolade sauce. Very good. You get 2 cakes I got the catch of the day which was mahi mahi. Fish so good they named it twice Anna got the potroast which was very tender. She let me try some. Gemma is a great place with good food and service. A destination style restaurant. Be back. Especially for roof top dining.

Great bar experience! The ambience was perfect--nice, relaxing, and a great vibe overall. The drinks were really good, and the bartenders were friendly and welcoming. Definitely a spot I'd come back to!

Love this place!!! Came here with my girlfriends for brunch and it was perfect!!!! Our server was amazing. He knew we came to chat and have drinks first before ordering lunch so he didn't badger us to order. The decor is absolutely gorgeous. From the front door to the oyster bar to the upstairs, eye candy everywhere! The food was amazing as well. The jerk chicken skewers were one of the juiciest chicken I've ever eaten. The hummus was beautiful but not very flavorful. The short rib hash and shrimp and grits were also good, but the seafood crepe wasn't very good... it had a grey sauce on it that was off putting at first sight. Just didn't taste very good.

Oh my goodness! Dear Gussy. Slam dunk. I had two different margaritas, a tuna poke bowl, fried cod fish bites. So fresh and delicious! This place is wonderful. If you have not been, I challenge you to come by here and check them out. The food, the atmosphere, the drinks, the employees make it special for you. Come on out & try them. Pros:all is great. Valet service. It is in San Marco. Cons: none

Picture it, date night October 10th. It was a rainy and I thought for sure that would put a damper on the evening, but the sun found its way out. We were celebrating life and all is has to offer us and the staff greeted us both with a glass of champagne. The bubbly made me want to throw caution to the wind and order everything...all the drinks, seafood and a juicy steak. Thank goodness my wife was able to remind me to pace myself -- it's not like we don't live within a 10 minute drive. We decided we would eat seafood apps -- spicy mussels, shrimp cocktail, Cajun roasted oysters, crab dip and my wife's favorite beet salad. I was in heaven eating the mussels basted in a spicy sauce, the shrimp were COLOSSAL and while the crab dip wasn't lump it was just as yummy. We paired each app with drinks. I can't remember my first drink, but when I tasted E's drink I knew I needed more, so I said, "I need a please, please, please and thank you." We went from driving by this literal gem for years and never stopping, to enjoying apps and drinks here twice in a week. Next time we go we'll make it a rooftop brunch experience with friends.

I definitely recommend coming here for happy hour. Their drinks are AMAZING and during happy hour, the price is so good. I'm glad they had good drink options on the happy hour menu because that's ultimately what drove my friend and I to come here in the first place. The oysters were good, though on the small side. The truffle fries were crispy. And the salad was delicious!

I have been to Gemma a few times before and they have yet to disappoint. For one, they have happy hour everyday, which has already won me over. Drinks are always delicious. The atmosphere here is always amazing, even at the bar. It's just a beautiful classy establishment. The service is always attentive and helpful. The food always seems to impress me as well. One of my favorite places to go in Jax! Check it out if you haven't yet!!

First time visiting Gemma after being highly recommended by several coworkers., and it definitely lived up to their hype! Parking is tough in the area, so we arrived 15 minutes prior to our reservation and used the valet. They were very friendly and efficient, and even escorted us to the front door of the restaurant. Once inside, we were promptly seated on their beautiful the rooftop dining area. Staff, including the manager, welcomed us and thanked us for choosing Gemma. We were then greeted by our amazing waiter, Xavier. He was friendly, personable and the epitome of what exceptional service looks like. He made excellent recommendations, knew the menu inside out, and did not steer us wrong. The bar created the perfect Old Fashioned to kick off the night. We shared a roasted beet salad. It was good, but could have benefited from more cheese. Next, I had the seared scallops. They were perfect and flavorful, and the marrow potatoes were a great addition to the plate. My wife had the short rib with fingerling potatoes and it was delicious as well. After finishing our meals, we were debating dessert. We weren't sure if we should, but ended up having the fried apple bread pudding. Even though we couldn't finish it, it was the perfect ending to a great dining experience. We are looking forward to our next visit.

All I can say is simply amazing! This place has been on my list for months. I had a friend come in town so we decided to go to Gemma. Guest the costumer service was amazing. Everyone was so friendly. Our dishes were impeccable. The spicy mussels were fresh and tender with the right amount of spice. The beet salad was delicious. The crabcakes were perfectly seared and set on a house made remoulade. Lastly shrimp and fried grit cake was simply magnificent seasoned to perfection. Will definitely be returning.

Why spend a lot of money eating at an establishment that doesn't enhance the experience? The food also was flavorful and the passion fruit margaritas was superb. I love margaritas but hate it when it's made with a pre-made mix. (It should be a crime.) Barteco uses high quality tequila and freshly squeezed juice that way a margarita should be made. For the food, I got 3 tacos (ahi-tuna, prime beef, sesame ribeye), my wife got the ahi-tuna rice entree, and for our two daughters they shared the quesadillas from the kids menu. Our favorite was definitely the ahi-tuna. One warning is that the portions are quite small, but they do tell you on the menu! However, the prices are reasonable for such quality and tasty food! The kids entree was also sub $10 which is rare to find AND it actually was a decent sized portion and had left overs. On top of that the hostess and server were friendly and knowledgeable. We're already planning on coming back already with some friends. The margarita in the carafe is calling us. What else can you ask for?

The interior was decorated fresh coastal vibes, I'd imagine Newport Beach restaurant vibes. Our waiter was very nice and friendly. He explained their ordering process which is to make on this sheet what you want and to put this card up if you need the waiter for anything else. I loved that they had an organized process. They have a QR code on the table you can order from and pay. But if you order using the paper sheet they provide you, you can't pay from the QR code. We started off with margaritas (regular and spicy) which were amazing! For an appetizer we got the pork tamale. Really good flavor maybe too much masa though. It was a thick layer. The green verde sauce on top was delicious. The tacos are small and are about 3-5 bites so you want to order more than 3 in my opinion which was perfect because I wanted to try a few different ones. We got chicken tinga, mojo pork carnitas, pork belly, ahi tuna tatako, carne asada, seared chorizo. I loved each one! We will be back for sure!

Our waiter, Evan, was very proactive & offered suggestions with menu items. We started with some cocktails, the gentlemen with the cider beer & an old fashioned. Calamari was prepared well and not too chewy. We shockingly each chose a salad: the bistro steak, the chop chop Asian, the goat cheese, and the salmon. Each one was incredible. Mine was the chop chop and I absolutely loved it! It was HUGE and you can bet I ate every single bite. Loved it!' We finished with the brownie topped with ice cream for the birthday girl, it was extremely tasty! Thanks again to Evan for making our night! He was a fantastic waiter! Would absolutely request him in the future.
