Nestled right by the river, chart house has been an upscale staple to Jacksonville for a long time. It sits right near the river and sets the dining experience during the day and especially at night. We started off with crab cake and Kimchee calamari which was superb. cooked just right crisp on the outside and not rubbery. Lobster mosque was also so creamy and flavored well. I also got the coconut crunchy shrimp. They had a special and we were celebrating my mom's birthday so there was a chart your course where you can pick any of the three from starter soup or salad which mom had the Cesar salad and the shrimp pasta which was so yummy and mini lava cake. Apart from everything being so delish they added ice cream with the dessert. Everything was on point. Service was amazing and the waiter was so prompt with our drinks and informative. Went before the JT concert last night. We did happy hour at the bar area. Super solid and a very good deal for the items. We ordered 2 kinds of sliders, spin dip, lettuce wraps and meatballs one of us also go the salad bar and we had 1 happy hour drink and 1 non happy hour drink. Other than fighting for your own seat service was quick and food was good and hot. The only disappointing thing was the lava cake that says it take 30 min to prepare and it came out with no lava but the peanut butter ice cream was delish. Really like this spot for fresh seafood. Came here on Saturday night on Ga/Fl weekend without a reservation and sat right down. Received excellent service. The atmosphere is very nice, upscale and on the water. With a reservation I imagine you can get a really nice seat with a view. I ordered the Cajun swordfish and it was excellent! Also got the salad bar add on, which was a nice touch considering you don't see a lot of salad bars anymore. A meal for two without alcohol ran me about $175. Worth it! read more

Went here for our anniversary and had a great dinner and experience. We had a great seat at the window with a water view. Our server was excellent and really took care of us! We started with the whipped ricotta and meatballs. It was 3 large meatballs and they really had great flavor. It was a great choice. I went for the prime rib which they are known for and my wife got the Key West grouper but subbed in Mahi for the grouper. She loved the sticky rice and the pineapple habanero butter. The prime rib was cooked perfectly and my wife loved it to as I ate some of the Mahi as well. We did add some grilled shrimp which was so flavorful! We also got some creamed spinach which was probably the best we have had. Our server surprised us with a slice of mud pie for our anniversary. We were already full but have to admit that we ate the whole thing! They have a Farmers Bar for an extra cost that is a salad bar, fruit bar, etc but we did not eat from that (it did look good). I visited Chart Hours for their happy hour. It was crowded for a Thursday. The bar area was packed, but we were able to grab a table next to the bar and still participate in happy hour. It seemed like our waiter was the only one assigned to the bar and adjacent area. It took over 15 minutes for us to be acknowledged. We were able to place our drink and food orders which sped up the process. I ordered the lobster tartare, bang bang shrimp, parmesan truffle fries, and mango mojito. The lobster tartare was the first to arrive. The tartar was alright, but once you paired it with the buttered toast that accompanied the dish, it took the item to the next level. That was my favorite item of the evening. The bang bang shrimp arrived next. It had a combination of the traditional bang bang sauce and hot sauce. The hot sauce was powerful making it hard for me to eat. This was my least favorite dish. The truffle fries were the last dish to arrive. They lacked the truffle flavor and crispness that normally come with fries. They were just alright. The mango mojito was very refreshing. The mango flavor really showed throughout the drink and easily one of the top seasonal drinks on the menu. I've had some good experiences at Chart House and will give them another try. I'll make sure to arrive right when happy hour begins so I can make sure to get a seat at the bar. read more

The low lighting where we sat made it somewhat hard to really see, especially compared to other areas of the restaurant where the lights were actually a soft bright (if that makes sense). Had friends come to visit and go to a concert at Daily's. We moved here in May 2024 and recommended to the Chart House as close to the venue and known for fresh seafood. Our reservation was for 5 o'clock, we were seated immediately by a friendly hostess. Our waiter was prompt and we ordered drinks which took forever. He did come back and tell us the bar was very busy. We then ordered an appetizer delivered promptly; fabulous oysters. We ordered a second round of drinks and our one soup and entrees. The waiter came back to tell us that he was sorry our drinks were taking so long once again. The soup never came. The entrées came out on time but still no soup or the salad that that person also ordered. Finally the waiter came out with the soup. We were already through half of our entrees and so this person sent the soup back. The waiter finally delivered our drinks. At this point, the sleepless person told him not to deliver the salad as we were just about done with our entrées.. cod, pasta and chicken dishes were rated average. What a shame is I don't think this is normal for this restaurant. They were very busy because of the concert and in my opinion should have limited reservations or had management work the floor. In no way does a restaurant owner want there to be people waiting for drinks For 15 to 20 minutes after ordering. I think the food suffered because of how busy they were. I don't know if I will give this restaurant another chance as I believe the only thing they did was of course remove the food that was not delivered from the bill and I believe paid for one drink of the person who paid the bill. The manager did come over and apologize, but it was after we were finished and after we paid the bill. As for the ambience, it was lovely. I would venture to say this will not be the only bad review and certainly not the only bad experience that evening. We are not that demanding! With all of the excitement and upgrades happening in the city, this restaurant needs to get it together, staff wise. read more

Went last night before symphony show. It's convenient to access downtown quickly. We were there before 6pm bc of performance start. They have an early dining menu which they don't give you unless asked. I had the Parmesan crusted snapper and husband had 8 oz prime rib. Mine $28 and his $32. You get a cup of soup or salad to start - both large portions, entree and choice of 3 desserts. All portions very generous. Service excellent. Beautiful view of the river and downtown. It's a hell of a deal really can't see how they make any money on it. read more

The only thing I regret is how much the prices have gone up in our favorite restaurants and The Chart House is one of them. We go regularly during the year for almost all family birthdays or anniversaries. The other complaint would be that although the salad bar is very good, to reach items at the back because of the sneeze guard you would need to be a contortionist. I am 5'10" and I swear to God I have to literally stretch to my fullest. Also they have taken off some of my favorite salad accompaniments and I mainly go for the salad bar. Marinated mushrooms a while ago and anchovies this time. Capers were missing also, so and I don't know who makes the decisions, but they might not be in touch with what some of us like. I know it's daft to think you could please everyone, but in an establishment that's there for as long as they are, it couldn't hurt to keep some on hand. The Callahan cut Prime Rib was very good except when you say no pink, they should listen. I know lots of people like it raw enough that it could possibly walk off the plate on its own, but I'm not a fan of seeing the blood! No worries, I'm not a fan of sending food back either. I was in the catering business for many years. It was very good except for that. We do enjoy it, but as it gets closer to being closer to $200 for two people it might be one of the last times we go. I hope not. They also used to print the birthday or anniversary peoples name on the menu. What happened there? Another managerial decision I presume. read more

I know several people don't like chains but this so one that is worth going too. This is a chain that has the truly local flair. We had a large table that received amazing service and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a good evening with recommendations. We all started off with drinks and about a million questions about the menu, that the server did an amazing job answering and helping us decide what to get. They started us with some complimentary bread and better, then to the salad buffet which was better than I expected! I ended up with the dock to dine grouper with citrus garlic butter that was perfectly cooked and full of flavor! Only the appetizer was comped and not the dessert. The manager said we could only use one and took off the least expensive one. They should have told us when ordering they would only honor one. Been in Jax for 5 years and this is the first time we had been. Sorry we waited so long. Had 7:30 reservations arrived about 10mins early and were seated promptly. Ordered the calamari appetizer. Came out quick and was absolutely delicious. I ordered the Seabass, my wife ordered the fillet. Seabass was cooked perfectly and had a ton of flavor. My wife's fillet was slightly overcooked, but flavor was perfect. Chocolate lava cake stole the show! We were seated by a window and was a little chilly however all and all a great experience. I've always had fantastic experiences at Chart House but this specific location was a total miss. When we got there, it was half empty and every table had dirty dishes and glassware. We sat at the bar, and though the bartenders did the best they could, the wait time for food was atrocious. We were there for over 2 hours and then eventually had to take our desert to go. We have eaten here on several occasions for birthdays and anniversaries. Every time has been wonderful. The service and ambiance are top-notch. The food is also excellent.
