My favorite dish was the fried catfish -- it was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender, flaky, and white on the inside. Every bite was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Small is the vibe I got from Indulgence, a bistro by us and for us. We waited about 10 minutes before we had our order taken. Complimentary water and Stella rose was our drinks of choice. They had mimosa flights, sangria and more. Wifey and I settled for the salmon croquette and cheese grits for her and catfish and cheese grits for me. Catfish was hot flaky and so good. Wifey could not finish her bowl as it was just enough. Food was on point. However, the drink sizes and glasses were minature. First off AK was amazing, she continued to come check on our table although everything else was completely OFF! Our food was coming out separately although ordered together, I mean potatoes coming out without the chicken and waffles(the chicken was not seasoned btw), the potatoes also came out cold. We sent them back and mine never returned, the others returned after being placed in the microwave. An omelette came out missing the sauce that it was advertised to have, AK did bring it out in a cup on the side after it was mentioned to her. A catfish dish came out with sauce after being ordered without sauce, AK advised the cook, he remade the dish and added sauce to it AGAIN! Advised him again about the sauce and the meal did not come back out again at all. Tables were being wiped down with industrial bleach right next to us while we were actively eating the food we did have. Either the air conditioning was not working or they just did not turn it down properly for the crowd that was in here. My friend did say that the mimosa flight was good though! We were staying at the nearby Marriott Hotel for The 4th of July. My husband found this nearby restaurant online and suggested we have an early dinner here. It was a good suggestion because we really liked it. They have indoor, outdoor and bar seating. We decided to go with an indoor hightop near the musical speakers. It was a good choice. The R & B music was great. The decor was also nice. The menus offered any item on either the lunch or breakfast menu. I opted for the shrimp and grits. It was delicious. Visited last Sunday for brunch. Charles was my waiter and absolutely amazing! The music and decor were a vibe. The Catfish and grits were some of the best I've ever had! The side of home style potatoes was very flavorful... a little small, but delicious nonetheless. The mimosa flight was tasty and strong. In our 12+ years of living in Jacksonville, this was easily one of the worst dining experiences we've had. The service was incredibly slow despite the restaurant not being busy. Our table had 4 adults and 1 child, and the food came out at different times, which made the meal frustrating. When the food finally arrived, the portions were shockingly tiny for the price. For example, the crab cakes were $24 -- and what we got were two small cakes that could fit in the palm of a hand (see photo). Absolutely not worth it. On top of that, our total bill came to over $100, yet we all left hungry and unsatisfied. Even something as simple as water service was lacking -- the waitress didn't bring enough for the table, and we left both hungry and thirsty. Between the poor service, overpriced portions, and overall disappointment, we won't be back. There are far better restaurants in Jacksonville where you'll get real food, fair portions, and decent service. Save your money and skip this place. read more

I was in Jacksonville for the weekend for a concert and I made reservations for Indulgence Southern Bistro for brunch. The brunch reservations are for a max 2 hour. We arrived a little before our time, but we were seated right away. The restaurant is small so it was a tight fit. We were at the table near the door and my friend kept bumping into the lady at the table behind us. None the less we started with our drink order. We asked the waitress about what was the Ingredients in the drinks and she had no clue, she had to go ask a bartender. ( my friend has an allergy so we wanted to make sure ) . Each of us ordered a drink. I got the pineapple upside down martini, my friends got the sunset mimosa and the reggae sangria. I definitely enjoyed my drink. My friends enjoyed theirs . After that I decided to order a mimosa bucket, which includes a bottle of champagne with 2 mixers ( cranberry juice & orange juice) & for an additional $1 you can add 2 flavored syrups, we got strawberry & Peach syrup. The bucket was perfect. For food 2 of us got the catfish w/ buttered grits and Cajun sauce & we added cheese eggs. The other friend ordered the shrimp and grits. The food took about 35 mins to come out. It tasted great the fish was well seasoned but it took a long time. Our eyes started to burn from whatever was being fried. The place got packed relatively quickly, we were glad we booked a 12:30pm reservation. There was a private party going on as well , they have a space for a small private party if you're interested. They played old school 90's R&B and I loved it. It put us in the mood for the concert we were attending. My friend ordered a waffle with a side of bacon. Her waffle looked like a large ego waffle. She took a few bites and was done. Even the brut used for the mimosa was not good. The service was slow considering it was not crowded. We had food with no utensils. It was not a good brunch. On a good note, our server was very nice and accommodated our requests. The restaurant is definitely a nice concept. With a few touches it could be a very nice spot. It's a shame that out of all the restaurants that the Marriott hotel recommends, they don't mention Indulgence Southern bistro. We were looking for a place to go on the 4th of July, and came upon Indulgence since it was one of the few restaurants open that day. We're very glad that we had the opportunity to visit! There are some things about the restaurant that were five star: The fried fish was very well prepared, and came with spinach and green beans. It was quite tasty and I would go back and get the same thing again. I also loved the vibe - great music, beautiful setting, very well decorated and a patio outside to enjoy as well. There were some hiccups that should be easy to overcome which would have made the whole experience ideal - they do not serve unsweet iced tea and they had no cold beer. Service from Seasha was decent, albeit a bit inconsistent. She was casual and efficient, yet she did forget to bring a glass of ice that I had asked for, and soft drinks were not refilled. Overall, this was an enjoyable experience and for the quality of food, I would have expected much higher pricing than about $25 per person. I certainly look forward to returning, and I hope that they can get together with the Marriott and have the hotel list them as a local business, since they are just a block away. read more

Everything was AMAZING!!! The service was great. They checked in on us multiple times. The FOOD was HOT AND FRESH!! The proportions of food were on point as well. You had just enough to not get you sleepy, but able to FULLY ENJOY. I had the fish and grits and the sauce on top was perfect. The fish was crispy but soft. My fork went straight through and it melted in my mouth and so did the grits. The ambience was great as well. You can come to hang out by yourself or others which is the vibe it gives. I cleaned my plate, and for me to CLEAN my plate means the FOOD WAS JUST THAT GREAT!!!!! For starters, the food prices on the menu are INCORRECT..... in addition to being incorrect they are INSANE!!! The prices do NOT support the amount of food, the temperature of the food or the level of attentiveness of the staff. If you love high prices, luke warm food, and an inattentive wait staff, BOOK NOW. Just left this place 5 minutes ago and immediately had to leave a review. Today is Father's Day and unfortunately our Father's Day brunch was not so enjoyable. When we walked in we were not greeted by a host and it took several minutes to get seated although it was not busy and we had made a prior reservation. Once sat it took over 15 minutes for our server to take our order. Our server did not introduce herself nor greet us and we had to ask if we could order drinks. Once the food was brought out(took over 30 minutes) the food was cold and the order was not right. Our server lied and said it was the cooks fault and did not do anything about the problem.
