A group of girlfriends and I visited on Valentine's weekend (not the actual day) for a Galentine's brunch. It was a mixed bag of reviews from our group of 7 but unfortunately, most of us had wished for more out of the experience. I will start with the ambiance: the upstairs has a beautiful view of the ocean and the decor has a more upscale dining kind of feel. Service was subpar: we had a reservation for 11:00 (opening time) and we were seated around 11:10. By 11:45, we were all surprised we didn't have our drinks yet even when everyone around us did (and were seated after us). The server also made an interesting comment when my friend asked her recommendation between 2 drinks. Her response was "I would probably go with this one because the bar gets backed up and the other takes longer to make". Personally, I think if the servers know that the bar is slow, they probably need another bartender for brunch time. Food: they had a variety to choose from so we sampled quite a few entrees (short rib Benedict, breakfast power bowl, breakfast sandwich/wrap, whipped feta toast, and French toast). They also had an omelette and carving station and a dessert bar. The menu stated that the dessert bar came with a chocolate fountain, but it did not so none of us added that for $8. To go through the entrees, most of our group rated their meals a 5/10. The short rib Benedict had good flavor but the poached eggs were overcooked and were more hard boiled. The whipped feta toast came out with some sort of red paste on it which was not expected from the description. The French toast did not have the whipped cream and when we asked the food runner, she said "oh we probably ran out". A few minutes later, we asked our server who then brought out whipped cream. The power bowl had good flavor also but my friend said the food was cold (this was common feedback from 5/7 of us). The 2 of us who had the short rib Benedict received our food about 10 min after everyone else's came out, and it was warm. They did have a breakfast board that seemed to be coming out rather quickly to the surrounding tables. Thinking the omelette station and breakfast boards are what we would try if we return, but none of us were overly thrilled with this place, especially for the higher prices. I really hope this was just an off day for them, but judging by the server's comments about slow service and the fact that we had an 11:00 reservation and didn't leave until 1:30 makes me think it's an ongoing thing. read more

Came to grab a quick bite on the beach and wanted to give the Refinery a try. There is some designated parking but for the most part, it's the beach. That being said if it's busy you will more than likely need to be prepared to park and walk. Upon entering we opted for the bar/ lounge area seating. The space looks nice and has decent ambiance for photos or events. Our server was great. She was extremely helpful and boy did she make some killer drinks. I had a drink that was custom called a UV...and also the fish and chips. The fish and chips were great it was seasoned well and fried perfectly. Truly one of the best I've had lately. The fries were really good and crisp too. I didn't care for the Cole slaw but that's just me. My drink was the bomb. I wish I could've had two but one was enough. I definitely enjoyed my visit and can't wait to come again. The service alone was enough to come back. The good food and drinks are just a plus. read more

Nice place, right on the water. Our server on the patio was also tending the bar, so the service was slow but it wasn't her fault. My hubby like the burger. I ordered the shrimp w/gnocchi. The dish was dry, very little sauce. The shrimp was so salty it was not edible. By the time the server made her way back around my man was done eating and it was a bit late to send it back. After seeing that I didn't eat the dish she did that it off the bill so that was a good gesture. read more

Met with a bunch of friends there . Did the brunch buffet. Was really happy with it. Coffee was strong and yummy. The mirror in the ladies room makes you look phenomenal. Service was good. They did add the gratuity to our check. I have no problem with that. I added it to the gratuity. I've lived in Florida and I had a daughter that was a server. I have no problem with them adding the gratuity, 10% doesn't cut it. Plus it is extremely rude and arrogant on a patrons part, unfortunately seems to be very common. I had a really nice time. We came for New Year's Eve dinner before their event... which they made very well known to us before our reservation with it seems like 15 calls but we appreciate the heads up. It's a nice spot but when you come at night you lose some of the magic of being near the ocean. All the food we had was really good. We really enjoyed the mushroom crostini and lobster corn dog. First time visit and definitely won't be my last. Staff and service were top tier. Out waitress was so attentive checking in constantly to make sure we were always good with drinks and food. The burger and key lime cake were 5 out of 5 for me. The entertainment was so much fun and the crowd was having such a good time. Pano Atlantic ocean at its finest Have been for happy hour & brunch twice this month & I live in PVB -worth the drive. They have definitely upped their game since these reviews & a new chef who is creating some special culinary art that not only looks fabulous but will rock your taste buds! Start with the stuffed mushrooms &/or Brussels sprouts! WOW!!! a roller coaster ride of flavors in the shrooms- LOVE! The drink menu, the wait squad, all of it is FAB! This review is for the new Beetlejuice Pop Up Bar experience at refinery that I attended last night. It was SO COOL. I gave it four stars just for the ambiance. You can buy tickets online for 2hr increments. The bettlejuice vibe was on point with the table setters, the stripes everywhere, dark lighting, horror music. The welcome shot was the best drink. Then the other drinks weren't as good unfortunately they were way too sweet for my taste. The food was cold and flavorless. I'm happy we ate before we got there. But the vibe was pretty awesome. A bit conflicted on Refinery.... Long review incoming haha. We had a reservation for Valentine's Day in the Ocean Bar. We decided to park a little further and walk, but they also had complimentary valet. On our short walk to the restaurant, we noticed how windy it was and how it got pretty chilly when the wind blew. We also then remembered the Ocean Bar was outside (not the restaurant's fault for the weather at all obviously). When we arrived, we had a short wait and were taken into a small room with a big empty bar and 2 tables. You could see the outside Ocean Bar through the doors and the tables and chairs were not set up, there were heaters, and no people. Our spot inside was clearly just an outside table and chairs, which I thought was odd but maybe they did that to shield people from the wind/cold? The only issue was the smell in that room was AWFUL. It was the first thing I noticed and lasted through the entire dinner, putting a sour taste in our mouths from the start unfortunately. I am also unsure of where everyone else with an Ocean Bar reservation was seated, because there were only 2 tables in the room and 1 was empty for half of the time we were there. For drinks, I got a glass of Sauvignon Blanc ($11) which was pretty good, but they poured it in such a large glass that it looked like so little was given to me. Not a big thing but not super visually appealing. My date got the Flower Bombe ($15) and it was really tasty, a good balance of flowery (elderflower and lavender) and tart (lemon). They had a special Valentine's Day menu across the entire restaurant, but most of the dishes were from their original menus which looked great. I had the Blue Crab Seabass ($63) which featured the super light seabass, a delicious buerre blanc, and tasty pea risotto. However, the menu stated that the seabass was crusted in blue crab, which was not the case unfortunately. It was a very small pile of crab instead so it left me wanting more. My date had the Diver Scallops Alfredo ($43). The scallops were big and cooked well, gnocchi was light, and the sauce was yummy. However the 3 pieces of broccoli on the plate felt like more of an afterthought than a part of the dish. We also split the Boursin Mashed Potatoes ($9) which was rich and delicious, very happy with them. When we left, we both said we could have been fuller. Overall, we agreed that while the food was good, it was not worth the price tag. The smell in the makeshift Ocean Bar seating was not the place to be spending that kind of money, though maybe the Fine Dining couples had a better experience. Even the Pub Bar seemed nicer than what we got. I would also really like to know where all of the other people with reservations at the Ocean Bar were sitting, perhaps it was better too. We will check out somewhere else for Valentine's Day next year. read more

Wow what an embarrassment. Came here for my friend's 30th birthday and she said her steak was overcooked. Could barely cut through it and was brown. Sent it back. The waitress CAME BACK with the same steak, told her she was wrong, and that it was the lighting in the restaurant and gave her the same steak back. Horrible service. We arrived a bit early, but were seated right away, nonetheless. I mentioned in the reservation we'd like to have an ocean view as we were celebrating our 19 year wedding anniversary. While we could see the ocean, there were two tables available right by the window. We asked our server, Patrick, if we could move. After a brief check, he moved us with no drama. He was great, more to come on this excellent server. We ordered a cocktail and then the charcuterie board. I also ordered champagne to arrive with the board. It came out EXACTLY as the board was placed before us. Presentation and the taste of the variety of goodies on the ward was amazing. We ordered our main dishes and they came out with lovely presentation. My wife's scallops were perfect, in her words, my lamb chops were hit and miss. One chop, was bland and not so tender, but the other 3 were much better! Wrapping things up, I asked Patrick about dessert. I mentioned it was out 10 year anniversary and he had no idea. Seems the reservation system and of there didn't make it to the server. When the bill arrived, Patrick had comped a couple of things, super gracious of him. He saved the day for our wonderful meal. His kindness to give us better seating, his attentiveness and attention to detail made this a wonderful fine dining experience. read more

My husband and I went for our Anniversary dinner. I had looked online at the menu and was looking forward to the lobster corn dogs. They were not exactly what I expected but they were delicious and I am already looking forward to next meal there All of the food was fresh and clearly a lot of thought and detail went into the menu items. The restaurant has a fun upscale vibe and the views of the ocean are spectacular. The servers were very thoughtful in wishing us a happy anniversary with a complimentary glass of champagne and the sparkler in our dessert was a fun surprise. They were all very friendly and did a great job of being present when we needed but not overwhelming, allowing us to enjoy our special date. Started off with drinks and a very good appetizer of the sauted Brussel sprouts. My course was the catch of the day which was flounder. Good seasoning good veggies. Went there to celebrate me and wife 30yr anniversary. Had reservations so was seated immediately upon arrival. Host was very professional. Everything was going well until I got my food I ordered. The chef should have been embarrassed to send this out. My Duck Confiet looked as though it was over cooked on BBQ grill. All of the fat from the duck was gone. It was dry and had NO flavor. Ambiance. The View. Service. The Food. All five stars! It's becoming more and more rare to be equally happy in all categories. I find myself sacrificing one thing just to say an experience was great. But can I say... I've had an immaculate dining experience across the board! First, I have to give info on the parking. Oh thank God they have their own private parking (with a bonus boardwalk access nearby). Jacksonville beach is just notorious for paid parking for several restaurants and it's pretty sweet not having to worry about paid parking on the street. It's a great spot if you want to walk along the beach after dinner. Hubby and I got there a bit later in the day and didn't dress accordingly (but this is a pinned *romantic* activity in my brain). I will note that I've been here for a private event (rehearsal dinner) and the view was the only thing I remembered. Private events are one thing, a nice date night (anniversary in my case) is another. My review today is for a dinner for two. I wanted a perfect experience and they definitely delivered. Ambiance: The upstairs is very beautiful. Though a very open and bright space, somehow it feels very intimate. Upscale? Yes. Wear that nice dress (or suit). Or not. The point is, the ambiance is nice enough to not feel overdressed! It's a great date night option for a lot of us who wanna dress up a bit. The acoustics allowed for you to have a nice conversation at your table without others voices carrying itself throughout the room. The view. You can see the pier from the restaurant. It's in such a relaxing spot to hear the ocean waves and get a nice breeze from a slightly opened window. The window faces East so I'm actually curious to see the view earlier in the day as the sun is rising. Brunch is offered in this restaurant as well Service. The hostess, the server, the bartender, and other employees were all very accommodating! All were cheerful and helpful, they kept checking to make sure we were ok. It's very refreshing! I think we can all agree that good table service across the city has somewhat changed after the pandemic. I love not feeling like I wasn't well taken care of. Food. This was the most pleasant surprise of all. The reviews were NOT good when I checked and oh my gosh can I say that I'm officially in love with Refinery Jax Beach? They recently changed to their Fall menu and I ordered their fish catch of the day. (I don't think I asked what type of fish lol). My entree was not only presented beautifully but my fish was so fresh, moist, flavored with this savory sauce that was paired with a pumpkin puree on the side. The asparagus was nice and crunchy, absorbing flavors of the dish. I paired it with Oberon, Merlot and it was like heaven. The filet mignon that made it across the plate from hubby's plate and into my mouth was so riveting. While I didn't care for the sauce , it actually didn't need it! I like my steak rare but hubby ordered medium. The medium-cooked piece was surprisingly juicy and tender! My palate was happy that it wasn't bland (which was a true fear, based on other reviews) and instead infused with a smokey, buttery, sea salt combo dancing in my taste buds. What an amazing meal! We made reservations and chose the fine dining option which offers a great view of the ocean. Limited parking but valet is an option. Walking in, you pass through the bar area which has live music on the weekend. It was extremely loud so we were glad we hadn't chosen the casual dining option downstairs. Service was great! Now, for the best part...the food. We started with the beef tenderloin bruschetta which was delicious. We were so hungry that we forgot to get a picture but the presentation was definitely Yelp worthy. The bread bowl was warm and totally worth adding. I had the side ceasar which was just okay and my husband had the loaded baked potato soup which was different but good. I got the Airline Chicken for my entree and it was absolutely one of the best things I've ever eaten. My husband wasn't as impressed with the short rib mainly because it was quite dry. My wife had a great idea for us to have brunch on the beach. So she did her research and brought me Refinery. It was Easter Sunday. They have Brunch on Sundays, she got us an early reservation, the service was amazing. They have a beautiful ambiance, you can see the beach, it has an amazing view. The place is really lovely, the service was great and everyone loved their food and drinks. I opted for 2 appetizers as my meal: tomato & steak bruschetta and the brussels. The steak was so tender and the brussels were amazing. Also got the peach melba dessert. Other things ordered by my table was tuna, salmon and surf & turf. Not worth the money for food which was ok. Overpriced, overpriced, overpriced. You are paying for the ocean view. Paid over $30 for a medium sized salad plus extra fee for the chicken which was not the even the size of my hand. My friend paid over $50 for a wedge salad plus a few steak tips. Service was excellent. Ambience was parking lot and sand dunes. I might try the Sunday breakfast buffet brunch depending on how much it is, but not going back for the rest. read more

They have really done this space up well. The lighting and ambiance is elevated from the last rendition of this place. The new fixtures are elegant and at the just the right level. Not too light, not too dark. We got reservations on Yelp, same day. The hosts were polite and got us seated right away. The server was fantastic. Always there to top off water or wine. Had a delicious dinner with coworkers at Refinery. It was a popular spot that night, as there were Christmas parties in the main dining room and the bar area, so we had dinner in the back bar. It was a cozy spot, not as elegant as the top floor, but great for what we needed - and we could still order from the upstairs menu. Service was attentive and friendly, and food was delicious. I ordered the skin on salmon with couscous and haricot verts. I was really surprised at how perfectly seasoned and cooked the couscous was and really wish I had more. Salmon isn't usually my go to fish, but I enjoyed it. It was moist and seasoned well. We had the Brussels (not pictured), which were my favorite. This is the first place I've been where each person gets an iPad to review the menu, super boujee. Very different but felt kind of unnecessary. For dinner I ordered the Vodka shrimp gnocchi. Honestly I'm so picky with how gnocchi is cooked as it can get slimy on the outside but here it was cooked perfectly! With this dish you can choose chicken or shrimp and also pick how you'd like it cooked, grilled, fried or blackened. I chose grilled and it was so good. The sauce was so flavorful and it had the perfect amount of cheese on top for each bite. I do have to say for the price the portion was small. I would have loved to have some left overs but we were still a little full from lunch earlier so we didn't end up getting an app and it ended up being a good amount. If you are coming hungry I definitely recommend getting an app or 2. I also ordered the toasted marshmallow martini and that was so good as well. Our waiter was perfectly attentive and continued to fill our waters without having to ask. This place was so cute for date night and I wish we came a little earlier for sunset because I could tell the beach view would have been amazing! read more

Ambiance, great! I'd encourage you to sit upstairs so you can see the ocean. Food, we were there for the brunch buffet on Mother's Day. Aside from the omelette bar, everything was mediocre at best. The prime rib was good, they just need to train the person to not slice fat off the meat and serve you the fat. The rest of the buffet could have been found down the road at Best Western. Underwhelming for what we paid. Service was great, the ladies made the experience. If we go back, it won't be for their brunch. I ordered the Piri Piri chicken and was super excited because half chicken or airline chicken is always my go to when it's on a menu. I can not express enough how bland this chicken was. I had my husband taste it and he agreed it tasted like unseasoned boiled chicken. I couldn't take more than one bite. I sent it back and didn't even ask for an alternative cause I tried my husband's fish tacos and they were also extremely bland so I didn't want to waste money getting anything else. He ate his but we agreed it's no where near worth the price (the chicken was $40). The bread we had as the appetizer was good and we just had soda to drink but the 2 cokes were $10 isn't that insane for soda?! Our server was nice but he was working the bar as well as serving us on the patio so he was very busy. The vibe as a whole was ok in the restaurant just terrible experience with the food. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.
