Salmon with crab, Steamed Asparagus and sea bass with lobster risotto
Amy V.

Made a reservation online. When we got there, they were running a little late but communicated that to us and it wasn't a big deal. We asked to sit out side and they seated us. What was strange was we had a folding table and chairs. There was an event going on which was fine but the table was wobbly and the chairs were uncomfortable. The view was amazing, our service was great. We loved the recommendations on the food and enjoyed everything else. The calm chowder and lobster bisque was amazing. Sea bass and salmon with crab delicious. The mini lava cake was to die for. They gave a free dessert red velvet cake for celebrating my mom and I. We would def come back but make sure we are at a normal table. Loved it otherwise.

Service was great, they were running late on there reservations so it took them about 20 minutes to seat us. Great views we got a table next to the window so we could see the Dana Point Harbor. However they sat a large party next to us about halfway through our dining and they were extremely loud and my girlfriend and I could barely hear each other talk. Food was all great except our entree's where they put way too much salt on our fish both my sea bass and her halibut were like a salt bomb.

Came for happy hour before dinner. The bar has beautiful views of the harbor and comfortable seating. Our waitress took our order, part came out, but there was a long delay before we got an additional order. We did enjoy the coconut shrimp and truffle fries. Our water and my ice tea never was refilled. And when we had to move to our table for dinner, our waitress made several errors on our bill. We has a nice table with a view for dinner. My salmon was a bit overdone and dry, but my fiancés prime rib was cooked perfectly and delicious. The key lime pie was perfect for dessert. I would definitely give this place another try. The view is fantastic, especially at sunset.

View from our table and the yummy salmon and rib eye steak.

We celebrated my birthday last week at the classic Chart House overlooking the harbor! Our bartender Corbin was so kind and the drinks were delicious for happy hour! For dinner, our server Stefan was delightful, entertaining, attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend the Chart House in Dana Point for all of your celebrations.

Kids menu Mac and broccolini. Pretty good

This was a tough one. We dined here for my aunts birthday on a Friday evening at 5 pm. Host and initial seating: 1 star. Not friendly. I understand it was busy but no guidance or direction or estimate or information. Seated late which isn't a big deal. We got a table that didn't have a good view and saw an empty one of the same size 2 tables over. We asked to be seated there and she told us. We would have to wait, that she doesn't know how long, and that everyone is celebrating something. We decided to take the initial seats.we called to ask for special printed menus for the birthday and confirmed. There was no menu and the host again was rude and just said she doesn't know anything about it. No apology, no offer to resolve. There is a tiny bar area you can go to wait. She didn't tell us about it. And there isn't much room (maybe why she didn't say anything ) Server. 5 stars. He was extra accommodating and friendly and I think he felt bad by the hosts dismissive responses. Food. Mix ratings. Big portions. Prime rib: chewy. 3 stars. Would not recommend Blackened salmon. Good. Maybe 3.5 stars. Kind of dry Bronzed salmon. Really good. 4.5 stars.juicy and cooked well. Lobster tail add in was cooked well also but small. Flounder francese 5 stars. Lots of flavor on this one. Perfectly crispy on most of it. But some parts could be a little hard. Would order again. Shrimp cocktail. Delicious. 5 stars. View; 5 stars. Parking. They have valet. Looks like a lot of people park in the street. Even at 5 pm it was packed. Valet folks were really friendly. Highly recommend to go get the Landry's gift card from Costco. It's worth it with that discount.

We happened to be passing by and stopped in for happy hour. Everything we ordered was pretty average, and nothing really stood out. The service was okay, but the beautiful view and great location are definitely the highlights of this place.

Bruschetta with a sun dried tomato twist. Basil oil was delicious

Have only been here for their wine dinners and the food has been on point. Our latest trip this past weekend featured Stags' Leap (note the position of the apostrophe, I learned something new at the dinner that there are two wineries in Napa with the same name separated only by the apostrophe position and about 2 miles of physical locations they are in the same AVA). Service was great and plenty of glass top offs at this event. Well worth the price of admission. Food was delicious and you get a great view of the sunset on the patio if you arrive early.

Bug left/ few got lost.

Came here to celebrate a special occasion and left very disappointed. We ordered the happy hour lettuce wraps, and as soon as they were served, we noticed multiple bugs in the lettuce. (We weren't sitting outside). When we told our waiter, instead of apologizing, he simply said, "It happens." He offered to replace the dish, so we ordered the spinach dip instead because our appetite was ruined. However, we were still charged for the spinach dip replacement. Mistakes happen, but the lack of hospitality and how this was handled made for a very disappointing experience.

Great food and views! I had the Chilean sea bass it was so good!!! It was a lovely date night! We had a great server! Highly recommend! Parking is valet or street parking!

What a lovely time we had at The Chart House! Shandrea was our server and she was just so lovely and accommodating. I took my mom for her birthday and they brought her a yummy piece of cake at the end. Mom ordered the grilled salmon with Israeli Couscous and it was delicious! Salmon cooked perfectly. I opted the shellfish route with oysters and mussels which were quite good. Beautiful view of the harbor as well. Seafood restaurants usually are a bit pricier but this place was worth it.

I always have a great experience at this chart house location. The views are spectacular. I enjoy the happy hour as well as the chart your own course dinners. They always have excellent service and a manager is typically in and makes sure you're having a good experience.

We dined here to celebrate my aunt's birthday with family from Chicago and our experience was amazing! Besides the views of the ocean and the cool architecture, our server was so friendly and attentive. She just brought a great vibe to the table and was so patient with us. Everything we ordered was delicious, I like the course option that included soup/salad, entree, and dessert. Calamari and shrimp mango stacks are must try's. Steaks were all cooked to the perfect temperature. We'll definitely come back soon.

Key West halibut it was so good so much flavor definitely recommend it

We recently had the opportunity to DJ an event at The Fish Tank in Capistrano Beach (34233 Via…read moreSanta Rosa, Dana Point), and it immediately impressed us. Start with the owner. Cate is professional, responsive, and genuinely collaborative. Communication is clear. Load-in is organized. The space is clean and well maintained. When a venue runs this smoothly, it reduces friction for vendors and creates a better experience for clients and guests. That kind of operational competence doesn't happen by accident. The design is what makes this venue distinct. The short-throw projectors transform the walls into a fully immersive aquarium or fishbowl environment. It's not a novelty effect; it's a production tool. For weddings, the room can feel atmospheric and romantic. For corporate events, branded visuals wrap the space in a way that feels custom and high-end. Few venues at this size offer that level of visual flexibility. From an audio standpoint, the room performs extremely well. We run MagiCali, a Southern California mobile DJ company specializing in weddings and corporate events, and we evaluate every room through a production lens. We look at ceiling height, wall material, reflection patterns, power distribution, and how low-end energy travels across a dancefloor. We've worked in luxury ballrooms, outdoor coastal venues, private estates, and converted industrial spaces. The Fish Tank is one of the rare venues where you don't have to compensate for the room. Speeches are articulate and easy to understand. Dinner music sits comfortably without overwhelming conversation. When it's time to transition into dancing, the room holds energy evenly instead of creating hot spots or dead zones. That tells you the space was built and tuned with care. For clients, that technical quality translates into confidence. You don't have to worry about muddy sound during toasts or harsh reflections once the music turns up. The venue supports the event instead of fighting it. There are many event spaces in Orange County. Very few combine strong visual identity, flexible projection capability, solid acoustics, and hands-on ownership. The Fish Tank is an undiscovered gem, and for what Cate currently charges, it represents exceptional value. It would not be surprising to see this venue commanding significantly higher rates in the near future. If you're planning a wedding, private celebration, or corporate event in Dana Point or Capistrano Beach, this space deserves serious consideration. It's distinctive, technically sound, and professionally run -- exactly the kind of venue that allows a well-executed event to shine.

She went above and beyond in ways both big and small, and it made all the difference. Her space is absolutely beautiful. It has such an artsy, welcoming feel and was perfect for our 80 person reception. The lighting created a magical atmosphere, the sound system worked flawlessly, and the indoor outdoor flow gave guests room to mingle, relax, and celebrate comfortably. One of the most generous touches was allowing us to use her home for staging the bride and groom. That level of trust and hospitality meant so much to our family. Throughout the entire process, she was accommodating, helpful, and always available with a calm, reassuring presence. If you are looking for a venue with heart, creativity, and an owner who truly cares, this is it. We are so grateful for everything she did to make the celebration unforgettable.

I (the bride) was working in the area when I stopped by Aventura Ocean Club by myself at first to check the venue out. I loved it so much I had to bring my now husband back as soon as we got back from a mini vacation and on that day, we secured the location. Just imagine an amazing view of the harbor and sailboats while feeling relaxed in a room that is modern, intimate and designed well. This venue is NOT old school like some weddings that we have all been to, its updated and amazing. Besides the view, another huge selling point is the largest wrap around balcony I have seen at a wedding. Aventura Ocean Club sets up couches, chairs, and a firepit outside for the guests to enjoy while they are not inside. We had our wedding on 8/10/2019 and we have nothing but great things to say about the venue. We got married at Heritage Park in Dana Point (Simone coordinated all of this) and had our reception at Aventura Ocean Club. I am still getting compliments to this day about the venue, the view, the decorations, the food, the grand entrance that we did (think sail boat entrance) and even the florals, DJ and photographer we used (all who came recommended from Simone). We could not have asked for a better wedding and we are truly pleased. It is obvious Simone cares about her clients and truly believes in marriage and happiness, she was wonderful to work with. A few helpful hints about this venue: 1. It is intimate but fit 100 people on the inside with no issue. 2. Your guests will rave about the sail boat grand entrance if you choose this option. 3. If you use their wedding package/coordinating services (which you should in a heartbeat) your event will look even better than you imagined but with your style through and through. 4. Simone/Aventura Ocean Club/Orange County Beach Weddings and all her recommended vendors will give you the wedding of your dreams. 5. This was in our price range where a lot of other beach/beachy/coastal venues were significantly more money and you had to do everything yourselves.

The view is beautiful but taken away by screaming little kids standing on chairs with drunk father stammering around picking arguments with surrounding tables. Food, including calamari, charcuterie, and chicken lettuce wraps were inedible, overly breaded/fried, and simply disgusting. When I spoke with the General Manager, he shook my hand aggressively, avoided eye contact, and spoke condescendingly. When my colleague, who is an executive for a prominent news channel, tried to calmly explain the complaints, GM made it evident he was not interested in receiving any sort of constructive feedback before we joined as members. Being an active member in the equestrian community, I was looking forward to recruiting more friends to join, as well. However, I would not waste time or money on a membership for such an outdated, rude, poorly serviced establishment. My personal liability insurance covers me for exactly what I do: walk around, kibbitz with the guests, and pose for photos. That's all. Usually when venues/entertainment companies ask me if I carry personal liability insurance, I let them know that I do. Sometime proof of liability insurance is requested, and I provide that. Only ONCE before in my 40-year career have I EVER been asked to have the venue named on my policy for the event. That event was being held in a very high-security utilities building in downtown Los Angeles, where the rooftop area when I was asked to perform was rather dangerous in places. That was a major inconvenience but at least I understood fully as to why this particular group would request this. So, enter the Ranch at Laguna, lol: A dumpy-looking property that looks like it's in the middle of a construction site as you drive up, and has a ton of very dangerous-looking outdoor stairs in the "gardens"(?), not very well-lit, and leading to gosh-knows-what, hidden beyond the darkness below. The "ballroom" I was appearing in was rather small, and looked like a very common and average meeting room one might find at a Sonesta or other properties of that ilk. This is certainly not a property with any bragging rights at all, and they had the audacity to inconvenience me into not only providing proof of liability insurance, but spelling out very specially the separate amounts of coverage they require, and then asked to be added to the policy for the event, and even provided a very specific template to follow, and yadda, yadda, yadda. ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGEOUS and completely unnecessary for me and for what my "act" is. I do not use anything dangerous in my presentation. No fire, pyrotechnics, any sort of musical equipment, musical instruments, etc., which WOULD warrant such a request, as any of those things might possibly harm someone in attendance or any of the staff. I'm just a comedian who strolls around, and that's all. I had to jump through hoops to try and make this all happen, and was only made aware of that nonsense ten days before the event, while I was out of town on another event and wouldn't even be able to get to my office until five days before the party. I tried, and the proof did not arrive in time, but the events person made an exception to the person putting on the party, and while that might have been some kind of a nice gesture, she had to add: "...but we don't usually do that." Sit down and shut up, lady. Luckily, I did appear with no other hitches and my client and all the guests were wowed by me, and that is ALL I care about. I will NEVER accept an engagement at this property again, and will happily never have to face the absolutely anal-retentive requirements for outside vendors. I will also warn other entertainers to beware of the situation before accepting jobs there as well, and to make those potential clients aware too, so they can perhaps choose another venue to spend money on for their event, a suitable venue. This place ain't it. Buh Bye.

Leslie also informed us of the complimentary bikes to use if we wanted to explore the town and how we were just in time to enjoy the complimentary wine and cheese from 4-5:30 in the common area. We grabbed our free bubbly, the vanilla bath salts for my wife to enjoy later, and proceeded to enjoy the cheese and assorted treats on the outdoor patio overlooking Dana Point. No better way to unwind! Pro tip: NEVER EVER SKIP THE FRESH BAKED COOKIES! The property is the perfect size to remain quaint like a bed and breakfast but big enough that you don't feel obligated to know each person coming and going. I would admit being in our mid 40's, we were on the younger side of guests during our stay, but this was a welcome surprise for us as we were looking for a quiet getaway for the evening for our 9 year wedding anniversary. The room was 212 which is an ADA accessible room but this I believe was provided at the special request of having a bathtub for my wife who values her baths on her getaways! The room faces the parking lot but this is a small sacrifice for what the true payoff was which was the special request... The giant jacuzzi tub which did not disappoint. It was large enough to fit two adults (not that we tried or anything *wink wink). The jets worked great and my wife raved about them. The room came with luxurious robes and slippers and all bath products were either local or unique brand. The room also came with a fireplace that was gas which started with the flip of a light switch. Another beautiful touch. It is always hard to find a bed that is comfortable enough while away from home as we are spoiled by our sleep number at home but this bed did the trick (which most chain or corporate hotels cannot accomplish!). The linens were soft and the room came with extra pillows and blankets on hand without having to ask for more. The complementary breakfast buffet in the morning was not your standard spread. It felt more refined and focused on the details. It was not your scrambled eggs from powder. It was two sunny side up eggs cooked to perfection. It wasn't generic underripe fruit, it was perfectly ripe fruit with an assortment of sides. My wife raved about the yogurt and toppings as did I about the oatmeal and toppings.
