We came here as a party of eight for dinner, and oh my gosh, we ordered so much food! 2- tomahawk steaks, a Black Angus filet, toro, wagyu fried rice, creamed spinach, Caesar salad, Wagyu carpaccio... honestly, I can't even remember everything just look at my photos...hahaa Our steaks were cut up for us at the table, and the presentation was absolutely perfect. Everyone really enjoyed their food my friends were obsessed with the tomahawk steaks. I don't eat steak myself, but I loved everything else we tried. We also got the basque cheesecake, and oh my God, it was amazing. The complimentary fries with different dipping sauces were so good, and the bread with butter melted in your mouth...mmmm! Thomas, our server, was fantastic. You can tell the staff really pay attention to detail, and if anything goes wrong, they own up to it and make it right. Minor mix up and they took care of us. Our bill was definitely on the higher side, but it was a well-deserved celebration, and every bite was worth it. We've been here several times, and it's always been a great experience. All in all, it's a very nice, upscale spot perfect for dinner dates, business dinners, or a special night out. The ambiance is welcoming, and being inside the Waldorf Astoria Hotel makes it feel extra fancy.

We were staying the weekend at the Waldorf and we wanted to try fancy Bourbon Steak House. Everything about Waldorf was customer service and luxury! If the weather is nice, ask for the patio. During sunset, the view is breathtaking! We had some time before our reservation so we had a drink at the lobby bar right next to Bourbon, the seating is so comfy and the drinks are top quality. I'm not a steak person at all but my man is and he was very impressed! I'm a side dish type of girl and everything was so delicious. The fries at the start with the sauces - yum!! Wine was great too. Our server was so attentive and gave great suggestions. He always came around with a smile and asked if we needed anything. Our view was so beautiful. They gave us a cute plate with chocolates that said Happy Anniversary. The place made quite an impression on us and we plan to go back to have a family dinner.

I love sitting at the bar at Bourbon and always meet really interesting people. The servers are very accommodating, and I love their brussels sprouts. It's a fun vibe even on a Sunday night! They give you free fries if you or a good customer! They're trying to fatten everyone up, lol

Located inside the Waldorf Hotel, go straight inside and make a left! They do valet parking for $10. We had a reservation at 6:30pm for Christmas dinner and were seated just within a few minutes. Service was excellent and we couldn't ask for better. They were constantly checking in on us. We had the Christmas menu for about $205 per person. Interior is classic and beautiful, they have different wine bottles/alcohol displayed on the glass shelves. Fries dipped in different sauces (ketchup, truffle sauce, onion dip) were all 10/10. Truffle spring rolls were actually really delicious, 9/10. Ahi tartare was okay, I would rate 7/10. For our entrees, I had the filet mignon which was cooked perfectly and came with a baked potato and tomato. The way they cooked the tomato was delicious as well, never seen anything like it before. My boyfriend had the ribeye also paired with the potato and tomato but he says some parts of the steak were too hard and chewy. For dessert, we had cheesecake which was wonderful 10/10 and butterscotch beignets which were too chewy and dry, it was difficult to finish, although the butterscotch dip was amazing. This is a perfect place to go to for a nice dinner and I loved that they were open on Christmas!

great dinner option if you're staying at waldorf but very worth visiting for just the restaurant itself too! the service was lovely, very attentive. they brought out complimentary fries with 3 different flavors and sauce pairings and warm bread. the food was delicious and the drinks were good too, the drinks menu had a new school vs old school cocktail part which was cool

We came on a Friday night with 5:30 reservations. Was originally going to be seated at a booth by the bar but requested to be in the main dining room where there was less thoroughfare. Our server was thorough and provided great explanation and recommendations of the menu. Food: I had the 45 dry aged steak which had fantastic flavor but it was a bit more chewy than the Delmonico steak my friend had. They offer complimentary trio of fries with dipping sauce and a truffle butter roll which was both delicious. Beverage: the army navy new style was delicious! I was glad they had a variety of nonalcoholic options that were not mocktails since my friend doesn't drink. Parking: make sure to validate as parking is reduced to $10 vs $30 It got noisy when more people arrived. However a great place to have a special dinner as this place is pricey and you get what you pay for

Wonderful location and view in the evening especially if there's a sunset over Catalina. We come here every year to celebrate our anniversary. Food was prepared well and the quality was excellent -- except for the shrimp (our waiter was kind enough to deduct that from our bill since my wife couldn't eat it). It was a little tough and had an off (very fishy) taste. The other dishes were excellent including the sea bass and filet mignon. Brussels sprouts and carrots were delicious. The complimentary fries and sauces are a nice touch. Dinner rolls are also delicious. Wine list is very good with plenty of selections. Prices are a little even for a high-end steakhouse. If you order steak, they sometimes tend to overcook it (I ordered medium rare but it was medium well). The biggest issue is that there are no restrooms inside the restaurant. You have to walk out into the hotel corridor down the hallways into the conference room area. Service as always was top notch. All waiters were friendly and helpful. Chocolate peanut butter bar was amazing.

This is the fanciest steakhouse I've ever been to in my entire life. It's inside the resort.. I don't remember the name of the resort though. I made a reservation for 530 so we can watch the sunset but it was gloomy :( The food made up for it though Honestly my favorite was the garlic brioche truffle bread, it was DELIGHTFUL. I would've been down to eat that for my whole meal honestly. Also the complimentary fries are fried in duck fat and they give you 3 different flavors of fries and dipping sauce! I hate to say that these 2 were my favorite but they were.. I got ceasar salad, blue crab pasta, and a 6oz a5 Wagyu steak. The salad is deconstructed and not tossed and I did enjoy the taste but not the mess it made. The blue crab pasta was delicious! But then it started getting too fishy for my taste and I couldn't finish it. The chili crisp on top really made it so much better. I could NOOTTTTT eat the steak Omygod I wanted to THROW up. It's not the steak, it's me. I forgot how much I disliked the texture of Wagyu and I made a mistake agreeing to share the Wagyu cus I had to eat most of it and I didn't want to waste it cus it was expensive but damn I'm sorry !!' Wagyu is NOT for me! Service was excellent, as expected from a fine dining restaurant and I particularly liked the still bottled water they served. Thank you for the experience, I'm sure I would've enjoyed that steak in another lifetime

My wife brought me here for dinner last night and we had a wonderful time. Located in the Waldorf, this restaurant is a vibe. We came around sunset and were seated on the patio, which I highly recommend doing if you visit (also make a reservation because this place gets very busy). Service was amazing here, probably the best service for any steakhouse I've been to in OC. The staff were super friendly and made excellent recommendations throughout the entire meal. I also appreciated the birthday treats at the end of the meal which were a pleasant surprise. On the food front, there were a lot of great things - loved the grilled branzino, mac & cheese, oysters, loaded baked potato, and house bread with butter inside it. The rib eye filet was good, but slightly overcooked ( I also expected something with a bit more marbling given it was considered "wagyu", so that was a letdown). While I appreciated the French fries at the start of the meal for their creativity, they were a bit overcooked and dry. Overall there was a lot of good, but still a few misses. Definitely one of the better steakhouses in OC, especially for the service and ambiance. I'd absolutely come back to try other items, and recommend this place if you're looking for a good spot for a celebratory meal.

You just can NEVER go wrong here. This is my FAVORITE restaurant! They always deliver the best quality, best food! The atmosphere is so nice, you have the choice to eating indoor or outside by the terrace with heat lamps. The view is beautiful, very open coastal feel, they're always willing to accommodate for people that cannot have certain foods, even make burgers for my kid. People working there, especially the managers there are amazing. Please get the caviar for appetizer, tomahawk, Wagyu plate, tuna tartar , the fries, etc

Really busy steakhouse especially for dinner at Monarch Beach Resort but we made reservations. The bread and butter was a highlight, so fresh, warm and whipped butter makes it that much better. The service was not too bad, our steaks were ok it was missing that seasoning to really bring out the flavor to round it out. The French fries with dipping sauces and sides dishes were good though

All of the staff from start to finish was absolutely lovely. We were there to celebrate a big birthday and Dulce made our evening extra special with her friendly, warm, attentive service. The food and drinks were also super tasty and innovative. We especially enjoyed the table-side cocktail service. What a treat that was! Big thanks to the staff for an incredible birthday dinner!

Disaster Birthday. Unfortunate…read more Went to Salt Creek Grill for my birthday with my girlfriend and my parents while we were back in Dana Point. We picked it because we've driven past it forever and it always seemed like one of those solid local spots. Saturday night, special occasion, figured it was a safe choice. It ended up being one of the more disappointing dinners we've had in a while. Prices are high across the menu, which would be fine if the food matched, but it really didn't. Nothing was awful, just very average for what they charge. The kind of meal where you keep waiting for something to justify the price and it never does. Service was also strange the whole night. We put in the reservation notes and even called ahead to say we were celebrating a birthday, and when we got there nobody mentioned it at all. My girlfriend went up to the host stand to check on it and got a scoff and a very confused response like she was asking for something unusual? High schoolers can be great employees but need genuine training. Our waiter didn't seem rude exactly, just very low effort. A lot of mumbling, short answers, not really paying attention even though the restaurant wasn't busy. At one point we ordered a Sprite and a sparkling water, and when the drinks came out we asked which was which. He told us to taste them and figure it out, which kind of summed up the level of service the whole night. The birthday dessert finally came out right after we paid the bill, right before we were about to leave, like someone remembered at the last second. Overall it just felt like a place that isn't trying very hard anymore. You can't charge those prices, have a half-empty dining room on a Saturday, and give that level of food and service and expect people not to notice. Sad it did not live up to its lore. Food was maybe a 5/10 Service around a 3/10 Overall experience probably a 4/10 Not the worst restaurant ever, but definitely not somewhere I'd go back to, and not somewhere I'd recommend if you're looking for a nice dinner in Dana Point. I have told many people not to go there.

Dim lighting, nice vibe, felt like we were about to have an amazing night. And then the food showed up. The lobster was so old it basically waved a white flag and turned into mush before we could even eat it. The lobster didn't just miss its prime--it missed several lifetimes. I've had better texture from applesauce. And the steak? I'm still confused. It came out dark brown like it had been cooked into next week, yet somehow was still raw. Truly groundbreaking. A scientific mystery. Someone call NASA because I'd love an explanation. We basically ordered the menu thinking something had to be good. Statistically, it should've happened. It did not. Every dish felt like a personal challenge from the kitchen: "How far can we go before they stop eating?" Answer: sooner than you'd think. Dropped over $1,100 and honestly I'd have rather lit the money on fire for warmth--it would've been more satisfying and probably better seasoned. The only survivors of the night? Dessert. Whoever is making those deserves a raise, a promotion, and possibly their own separate restaurant far, far away from whatever is happening in that kitchen. Also, they're only open Thursday-Sunday, which feels less like a schedule and more like a warning. Like they need Monday-Wednesday to emotionally recover from what they're serving. If you're going for pictures, vibes, and dessert--go off. If you're going for edible food... maybe keep this one in the realm of myths and legends where it belongs.

I want to start this review off by saying THANK YOU to Blake, Kelly and all the Craft House staff…read morethat had a hand in our wedding reception!! It was truly such a beautiful night that went off without a hitch. Because of YOU GUYS. Beginning of Planning: My husband and I were on the hunt for the perfect "alternative" space to a traditional wedding venue due to time constraints of planning a wedding in 4 months and also budgetary constraints (not willing to sell our souls for a 40k wedding in South OC). I came across Craft House on Yelp (another beautiful couple held their wedding there) and knew the space would be perfect. I emailed for a week or two with Kelly before deciding to see the space in person. Late November/early December we met with Blake to show us the space. We knew it was the place for us when we were explaining to Blake our overall goal we were trying to accomplish: We wanted to throw a nice dinner and dance party for the people we love the most to celebrate the love we share. And we wanted to do it our way. Blake's response: We can do it all. No constraints. Basically no "rules", do it your way. We immediately put a hold on the space for our wedding date. December-March: Kelly was the perfect person to connect with and kindly answered all the questions that come along with planning a wedding. She was efficient with answering emails and following up with us (I'm type B, I love a follow up). We went to eat at Craft House a few times during these months and we able to figure out what we loved the best on the menu and each experience was fantastic. 10/10 drinks, food, and service. March: We started finalizing all the little details, food and drink menu, decorations, table arrangements, day of timeline. It was easy, efficient and there was a confidence from both Blake and Kelly that made us feel extremely confident and grateful to have our reception at Craft House. Wedding Week/Day of: Blake kindly allowed us to bring a load of decorations the day before the wedding to help the set up efforts on wedding day. We dropped off boxes of candles with a bartender (possibly a manager) the night before and he was extremely sweet and helpful by carrying boxes inside for us. The day of the wedding, our DJ and friend who was helping with set up were able to go in a few hours before. When we walked into the reception for the first time, we were blown away! I was in true awe at the space. It was exactly how we envisioned. The beautiful wood interior and 3/4 walls of windows with plants inside and outside made it feel like we were in a green house. I was met with a drink in my hand immediately from the bartenders and I was never without a drink (they would find me every time my drink was empty and give me a new one... THAT'S TOP TIER SERVICE). We ate, we drank and we partied with the people we love the most, exactly how we wanted. Things you should know: Particulars- We had about 90 guests, 4 vendor meals and had the private space from 12 PM (set up time) to 10:30PM. Price- THE BEST DEAL YOU CAN GET. Rental for the space, food and open bar(!!!) all bundled into a great price. Best bang for your buck. Price included gratuity and a small percentage for service fee. UNBEATABLE. Service- As someone who worked in the restaurant industry for many years (and close friends who are bartenders and servers)... we all agreed that the service was top tier. One of the biggest stand outs for me was the smiles on all of their faces during our reception. There is nothing better than seeing employees genuinely smile while they are working. It really makes the whole atmosphere a million times better. Some videos that we got at the end of the night, you can see the bartenders dancing while serving guests, it made my heart happy to know that there was some enjoyment while working their butts off for us. Thank you all so much!! We enjoyed ourselves and so did all of our guests. The next day people were stunned that we had been at a restaurant and not a wedding venue. This review is well deserved. *Pictures to come!

I've had two separate experiences at Raya this year, and both were unacceptable -- which is…read moredisappointing because the rest of the property has consistently been excellent. Kahani, the club lounge, and the Marketplace all delivered exactly what you expect from a hotel at this level: attentive, well-trained staff, seamless service, and a clear understanding of hospitality standards. That's why I've never focused on smaller issues before -- they didn't outweigh the overall quality of the stay. Unfortunately, Raya has now been the exception twice. The first time, back in January, the food quality wasn't on point-I ordered the blackened tuna tacos and they were completely inedible. I didn't complain or send them back -- I simply left it at that. Today was service from one particular server Taylor. I had just come down from the club lounge and remembered that I had a complimentary voucher given at check-in, which didn't specify what it covered on it. I first asked at the lobby bar and no one was able to provide a clear answer, so I went next door to Raya and asked again before ordering. The hostess told me I could choose anything and even recommended the skirt steak. She was kind and friendly. Taylor took my order, and I reasonably assumed there had been communication between staff. So I spent some time ordering and waiting and when my food arrived since I asked for a to go order, I grabbed the bag, tipped, and left. Then Taylor ran after me at the hotel entrance asking how I planned to pay -- in front of other guests. It was an extremely uncomfortable and bizarre situation. I didn't realize what has happened I was just handed the bill and I put my room number and name down. I was then told the voucher only covered guacamole, which directly contradicted what I had been told prior to ordering. As a result, I wasted approximately 40 minutes of my time, I was simply trying to head to the beach before departing, and instead found myself dealing with a situation that should have been handled internally and discreetly. When I handed the food back and said I did not want it, the response was "ok, I'll toss it," followed by no acknowledgment, no apology, and no effort to resolve the situation. At this point, this is no longer an isolated incident. For a restaurant positioned as fine dining, the lack of internal communication, consistency, and basic guest handling is surprising -- especially when every other outlet on the property demonstrates a significantly higher standard. Raya was the only part of the experience that felt misaligned with the rest of the hotel -- and unfortunately, it's the last impression I'm leaving with.

We did the steak platter and it was genuinely one of the best things I've ever eaten!! Perfectly charred crust, gorgeous pink center, and served with three dipping sauces... plus roasted bone marrow on the side for those that like to indulge! I'm not a fan but everyone else loved it! Honestly the presentation alone on that round board was its own moment. Made it so much fun to share this way The cocktails were actually looked as good as they tasted as well! The whole vibe of the restaurant is warm and elevated. Perfect date night out! Service insanely good too! Our server was so sweet and made sure we were always happy! My husband likes his $30 whiskey sour. Our only complaint is it could've been served in a whiskey cup and not a cocktail cup. My drink was good, forgot what it was called. We were served by everyone. Our main waitress was wonderful. Our water was always refilled. Our order was taken by another gentlemen who had memorized our order. The waiter who brought out our executive board explained the whole board. SO MUCH MEAT!!! It all tasted excellent. Their bread roll on the appetizer portion was like nothing I've ever tasted. How on earth does it stay so fluffy!? I mean, that's every carb lovers dream. We had a wonderful dinner. We will be back again.

We went with a family-style approach so we could try a bit of everything. To start, we ordered the bread service--definitely worth it. The bread was warm and soft, served with a tomato topping and two incredible butters: a rosemary butter with a subtle citrus note and a rich beef tallow. We shared the wedge salad, which was phenomenal--packed with flavor and even had a slight kick that really elevated it. For mains, several of us ordered the skirt steak, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. My mother-in-law had the filet and loved it. We paired everything with two bottles of Daou Cabernet, which complemented the meal beautifully. The sides were just as memorable--we ordered two mac & cheeses (so good), a baked potato, honey-glazed carrots (a standout), and mushrooms. Everything was delicious and perfect for sharing. The ambiance and service really made the night. We sat outside under a pergola with beautiful lighting, which created such a cozy and special atmosphere. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made the entire evening feel seamless. Overall, Selanne Steak Tavern is absolutely worth the price for a special occasion. By the end of the night, all of us were already saying we couldn't wait to come back.

The food, ambiance, and overall setting were excellent. Unfortunately, the end of the night left a very disappointing impression. The ladies at our table asked about the crab special and decided to order it based on the server's presentation and recommendation. At no point was the price of the entrée clearly disclosed. When the bill arrived, we were shocked to see each crab entrée was $265, totaling $530 for two dishes! (see picture) Had the pricing been transparently shared, we absolutely would have made a different decision. To make matters worse, the restaurant had run out of Macallan, so we were served Glenlivet instead, yet we were still charged for Macallan on the bill. When I raised the concern, management did remove the incorrect drink charges and provided a partial credit toward the crab entrée, which I appreciate. However, what was most disappointing was being told that the server claimed he had disclosed the crab pricing--which was simply not true. That felt less like hospitality and more like protecting the waiter at the expense of the customer experience. For a special occasion like a 20th anniversary dinner, transparency matters just as much as great food. I still enjoy this restaurant and hope this was an isolated experience, but honesty and clear communication should always come first--especially at this level of dining.

If you work in the restaurant industry and want to learn how to operate a great fine dining restaurant, come and get a job here. The Salmon dish (34) was excellent--came with great veggies and pasta. The free water and bread was also very good. They have a free parking lot on the side or else park on the street for free. They have indoor seating and a covered patio. Great place for everyone: Date night, birthday celebration (there was one going one), Girls dinner, guys night out, business dinner, or dinner on your own on the patio. Expect to spend about $50 a person for dinner with Apps, more if you order alcohol. I would come back for the Salmon dish again.

Parking during the lunch hour can be a problem, you may have to walk a bit from the upper neighborhood. Some of the residents there do not hold back their disdain for tourists parking in front of their homes. Place your order outside, like a fast food joint, get a number and sit down somewhere after you get your drinks from another outside window. They are very busy here and have a good system in place to process and complete the orders. The wait time for your food is minimal. The vibe here is touristy yet the crowd is young. Beach goers mostly I suspect. Picnic tables inside with an assortment of round patio tables and chairs inside and out. The burgers taste good. They are a double patty, so they were cooked up quickly and were definitely served hot off the grill. The meat is without much taste. The cheese is American which is nothing more than a mysterious blend of yellow ingredients, few which are probably real dairy products. It does melt easily though and kind of makes a runny addition to the sauce they use. Flavor from the sauce and the texture from the meat made the burger interesting but not great. Probably on the level of an In and Out puck. The bun was ok, it held up well to the sauces. Since this a well cooked double patty, there was no juice to sog up the bun. Of course the lack of juice makes the overall product lacking. The fries are great and ample but the stingy amount of catsup provided is almost good enough for only half the fries. The ice tea is average and very small. It is not enough to wash down the meal. Make sure you get waters because your ice tea will not be refilled.
