We've been to Vine in San Clemente several times now, and it never disappoints. This last visit we showed up with a group of 12 on a Saturday night (last minute, which I know is not easy), and they completely knocked it out of the park accommodating us. No one in our group had been before, and every single person loved it. The ambiance is perfection..... great lighting, the perfect mood, and just an all-around vibe that works whether you're on a date night or out with friends. The cocktails are excellent and you honestly can't go wrong. The Old Fashioned is legit, and they make a really great martini. And the food... so good. Standouts for us were the schnitzel, stroganoff, burger, zucchini, and the veggie pappardelle. The wedge salad is also a must. Excellent service, food, drinks, atmosphere .... It all just works here. It was my first time dining here. I can tell you I surely hope it won't be the last. Five of us came here to celebrate one of my friend's birthdays. We tried several appetizers. They vanished before I could take a picture. All were absolutely delicious. We had pumpkin ravioli, brussel sprouts, fries and cauliflower. I had the Kobe burger for dinner. It was good. One had halibut, two had pasta and my other friend had Chicken Schnitzel. We all thoroughly enjoyed our dinners. One thing I want to make sure to mention is that the service was impeccable! Sloan T. was our waiter. We had our water, drinks, wine out asap. I was surprised how quickly the appetizers were served too. Everything was top notch, I mean everything! It was quiet inside. I have hearing issues. I could hear my friends easily. It was so nice not having to strain to hear over loud music as is often the case at other places. I highly recommend Vine. read more

Enjoyed dinner at the Vine for a late Valentines dinner! The ambiance inside the main dining space was perfect for the occasion. We ordered to appetizers (pumpkin ravioli and fried zucchini). My husband and I personally loved the pumpkin ravioli - probably one of the best things we had there. For our main, I ordered the sea bass while my husband order the schnitzel. The sea bass was well cooked and paired well with the sauce/veggies! The service was just enough by checking in on us, but nothing out of the ordinary in terms of service or staff. Had a fabulous dinner last night at Vine. Group of four, started with zucchini and fries both were crisp and hot. I had the halibut it was cooked perfectly. My friend had the saffron shrimp which was a starter but plenty big enough for a meal, the sauce was sooooo good, we were all dipping our potatoes in it lol we all enjoyed our food. Came in on a Wednesday evening with my son and husband and sat in the room behind the bar. Who knew they even had a whole other seating area beyond the patio and bar? It was such a nice surprise and a cozy, comfortable space. Our server, Remy, was incredibly sweet, knowledgeable, and patient, which made the experience even better. We tried the rib special (10/10), cheeseburger (8/10), and the house-made English pea ravioli (9/10). Everything was delicious, but the focaccia with butter was absolutely to die for (10/10). They also serve what my husband says is the best Old Fashioned he's ever had...high praise coming from a true Old Fashioned aficionado! Overall, such a lovely evening. We have now been to everyone of the restaurants in this family and have loved everyone of them. Vine has a beautiful outdoor patio, a cozy indoor seating area, as well as a cool bar for a more casual evening. The service was exceptional - we were well cared for and provided great tips on what to try for the evening. We loved the ravioli appetizer that was recommended and could've feasted on it all night! I was visiting town from Minnesota and wandered into Vine tonight looking for a good dinner spot on the fly and immediately was greeted by the extremely friendly and welcoming staff and had an amazing meal! The burger was fantastic and loved the ambience. Jesse surprised me with a dessert at the end and he was a total peach. Went to Vine for the first time after hearing some amazing things and I was not disappointed. They have a small, outdoor patio, bar area with TVs and a restaurant style area too. All the staff were friendly and the food was delicious. I got the pumpkin and goat cheese starter. The goat cheese was creamy and the brown butter sauce with crispy sage was a beautiful blend of flavors. I also tried the oatmeal cookie crumble and it tasted like an apple pie. read more

Congrats on the vote for best restaurant! We would've agreed until this recent visit. Loved our cheeseboard starter, and also my filet Mignon. My husband is definitely not a picky eater, but for him, the ribeye was inedible. To be fair, I did tell our server one slice in it was Bleu not medium rare, and she offered to take it back, and next cut down the middle of the steak was perfect, so we didn't want to be those people. But that was about it and no one revisited us after that to see his plate was full of Bleu pieces and sinew since nothing rendered on that cook. Huge disappointment since we'd asked our family specifically for a voucher to this restaurant group. Service was great up until they could obviously tell the steak was rare completely. They comped us a dessert, but we don't really even like desserts and tried to eat is as a courtesy. read more

We just completed a fantastic dining experience with 4 friends from out of town. We were seated in the Wine Room, aptly named as we were surrounded with wine cabinets where extra wine was stored. Our server was Sam and she was perfection - a perfect 10 in every way! She had a great team behind her! We started with the cauliflower and the pumpkin and goat cheese ravioli, which was just mouth watering! The Caesar salad and the wedge salad both got high marks. Dinner was delicious but the deserts were an after dinner treat. We had both the Oatmeal cookie crumble and the creme brulee which were over the top tasty! For our first valentines being newlyweds, we snagged reservations about three days before and were kindly accommodated by the amazing owner, who also greeted us when we arrived and threw in a small appetizer on the house! It was amazing food extremely flavorful and fancy enough yet well priced. We ordered the chicken schnitzel and the Kobe burger. Along with some focaccia bread with honey butter. We were taken here by some family friends and I gotta say...I really love the ambiance here! It's giving candlelight, cozy, but upscale. Staff is accommodating. Our server DID speak a bit too quickly when going over the specials for the night, because there are a lot. Feedback would be-- slow it down because I felt like I needed to take notes. The food itself was lovely. You can see my very blurry picture of the warm focaccia artisan rosemary bread. That was super tasty with the butter. The rosemary is not baked in the bread so prepare for those loose rosemary bits to be on your hand or on your face if that is how you eat haha. I ordered the pumpkin ravioli which had sage brown butter and truffle goat cheese and roasted hazelnut. It was supremely delicious. Pasta was al dente. Highly recommend. Steaks here are pretty good as well, good sauce to go with it. Lots of great specials. I suggest don't try to sub in a side. Someone in my party wanted to sub the vegetables for pasta and the pasta sub was ehhhh...left a lot to be desired. But they gave us a cheesecake since that substitution wasn't up to snuff. We visited on our first night in town and were instantly impressed. Our server, Heather, was top notch--attentive, friendly, and genuinely fun. We split a cheeseburger that was massive and delicious, and the focaccia bread was a perfect starter--fresh and full of flavor. We loved it so much we came back a few nights later and were lucky to be served by Sloan, who was absolutely fantastic. The menu had just transitioned to their summer offerings, which was a fun surprise. The ravioli was rich and flavorful, and the watermelon + tomato salad was light, refreshing, and beautifully balanced. My partner and I shared the schnitzel--crispy, tender, and expertly prepared--and my daughter's salad with added chicken was spot-on. And the fries? Don't leave without trying them. Sloan's service made the evening extra special. She was warm, knowledgeable, and clearly loves what she does. (Happy early birthday, Sloan!) This is a very busy place you can tell people like this place , which is a great indicator. Our waitress came and got our drink order very promptly. She was very nice and knowledgeable of the menu. Sorry for not remembering her name. Then we ordered an appetizer and she helped us decide which one to order we went with the pork belly and apricot Brussels sprouts Cooke din a cast iron skillet. They were so delicious!!!!!! You must try! For our entrees my husband ordered the 45 day aged ribeye that comes with mashed potatoes and asparagus and other vegetables. I ordered the breaded chicken that also came with vegetables and some green noodle ( I can't remember the name.) . Both of our dishes were delicious!!! I couldn't finish my meal so I boxed it to go. Oh almost forgot my husband ordered a special drink they had for Father's Day called something hop daddy and he loved it. I apologize for not remembering the name. I had mentioned to the waitress it was my husband's birthday so she surprised him with a special dessert, which was an apple ice cream and some oatmeal raisin cookie crumble. OMG! A wonderful experience! First off, let's talk about the service... attentive, gracious and friendly. Gabe the restaurant manager welcomed us as we walked in the door and we were immediately seated at our table. Adam our waiter was amazing! He always had an eye on the table checking to make sure our water was replenished and our wine and cocktails were tasty and we were happy with our food. Kudos to the amazing bartender, my cosmopolitan was perfectly made. The pumpkin squash ravioli's and oysters were perfect. Our entrees that included the rib eye, salad with salmon, surf and turf and short rib stroganoff were out of this world. Each plate was perfectly prepared and cooked and the sides and sauces complimented the main dish. The Chef's Cocktail of the day and Brussel Sprouts were delicious! Cons: Where the restaurant fell short for me was the rest of the food I ordered. Duck Wings- I was excited to try these but they are a acquired taste. Meet is tough. And I think they changed their sauce over the years b/c it was def not "Lemon and Honey" the sauce was likely from a can of sweet and sour asian sauce Mexical Burger- small burger and huge amt of fries. Fries and ranch were great. The Burger was just alright. Burger was not spicy despite jalapeños. Chicken Schnitzel- which had rave reviews was just standard to me. Went here on Monday night (MLK Day so might as well have been a Sunday) with the wife. Place was pretty empty. Service was really good, the staff were nice and helpful. We ordered some drinks and appetizers. Got oysters and hushpuppies. I'm not a fan of oysters, but the wife said they were good. The hushpuppies were not good. They had a strange taste and the consistency was not good. Then we got sea bass and a beef short rib stroganoff. The sea bass was slightly overcooked, but still fairly tasty. My biggest issue (and the real reason for the three star) was...the beef short rib stroganoff wasn't really a stroganoff, and the beef short ribs weren't beef short ribs. It was a chuck roast. I know that beef short ribs can come from the chuck portion, but they chose the portion that had the least amount of flavor to it. It was tender, but the flavor was bland. I've had a lot of beef short rib in my life, and the first bite told me right away it was the worst possible cut they could get. And, to make it worse, absolutely no seasoning what so ever. Anyways, with all the options available, and their price point, I can't recommend this place. read more
