Just tried another nail salon on Lancaster, and they didn't even compare to Charming Nails! I've been going to Charming Nails for years, mainly for pedicures and occasionally for manicures. It has a friendly environment, lots of nail color choices, and the quality in their work shows. They never seem rushed to finish, always taking the time to perfect the shaping of the nails and application of the polish. They don't speak the best English, so you do have to be patient, but there's always a 3-5 minute massage waiting for you at the end of your services. You can't beat a $12 manicure, and $25 pedicure (You can charge both! Tips in cash though) that comes out looking great. read more

I got a gel manicure here - my experience was nearly fantastic. I was really happy with the great deal of attention this woman paid to me and my nails and I loved the way it looked afterwards. However, I can't give a raving review since my manicure lasted exactly one week before it chipped and peeled. The last gel manicure I had (from a different salon) lasted 3 weeks, so this was a huge disappointment. The salon itself was just ok and not as clean as other places I've been. Another issue: I've since found out that shellac and OPI gel polish are removed in different, brand-specific ways - I'm not sure the woman who did my nails was aware of this since she spent 10+ minutes soaking my fingertips in acetone and then scraping them. This was one of the worst experiences that I have had getting my nails done. I had a pedicure and a gel manicure, and it seemed as though the techs were more concerned about hurrying me out so they could get to the incoming customers. I have been to several salons and never had the amount of breakage that I did with this location, almost as if they skipped a coat of the gel manicure (literally had a nail break the next day) and my natural nails were pretty long before I went in. Wasn't extremely impressed with the quality of manicure or pedicure. Pedicure paint job was a little sloppy and fingernail shaping was slightly off. They did give a good leg and hand massage, and bonus neck massage while the nails were drying. read more

This is my favorite place to get my nails done for several reasons: great job, friendly staff that really cater to you, price is very reasonable, and the best extra I've ever found at a nail place: the chairs you sit in massage your back with a remote control to suit your liking, and when your nails are drying they do a hot cloth massage on your neck and shoulders. I love getting pampered and so this is the perfect place for me to get a mani-pedi and a mini-massage all in one. The staff is so nice and do a great job. Best place I've found and although I live in Philadelphia now I go back occasionally just to get my nails done when I feel like I could use a treat. read more

Technically, the staff at Charming Nails are proficient at what they do. My manicure and pedicure look good and in terms of that, I got good value for my money. However, the way I was treated was inexcusable. I am a single mother who has very little time and until recently very little money to spend on luxuries for myself. I commute over 2 and a half hours to my job every day just to ensure that my daughter can stay in the school that she loves, which means that on weeknights there is little time for anything but dinner, homework, and packing lunch for the next day, and weekends are spent split between doing essential chores and my daughter's weekend activities. Needless to say, even doing my own manicures and pedicures at home is not something I get a chance to do very often. However, I recently realized that it is important for me to do something that makes me feel good about myself and so I decided that I would splurge on a monthly mani/pedi, which might then also inspire me to carve out a little time for myself on a weekly basis to do upkeep at home. Which lead me to make an appointment for my first mani/pedi in years at Charming Nails. As I stated earlier, the staff is proficient at the technical aspects of the service; however, the two women who did my manicure and pedicure lack any social grace or even simple human kindness. Since it has been a very long time since I have been able to indulge in even at home treatments, my feet were dry and my heels were cracked and my fingernails were ragged. I said as much to the technicians. However, the woman who did my pedicure spent the entire treatment sighing under her breath, rolling her eyes, and muttering "Aye, aye, aye". Whenever she realized that I was aware of what she was doing, she would say, "Your skin is very dry" as if that excused her going out of her way to make me feel even more ashamed of the state of my skin than I already was. I spent most of the pedicure trying to watch the television and pretend I wasn't aware of her theatrical sighing and her attempts to make sure that everyone else in the salon knew that I had sorely inconvenienced her by having less than perfect feet. What's even worse is that after doing her best to make me feel like I had no right to be getting a pedicure is that she then tried to upsell me on an extra foot massage and after I refused the first time, she tried two more times. She then called another technician over to begin my manicure. When this woman sat down, I immediately said, "My nails are in bad shape. I'm sorry. I haven't had time to do anything with them." She smiled, took my hand, and then pointedly looked at her friend and the two of them shook their heads and laughed. This continued until my pedicure was finished (a procedure that I will point out took NO LONGER than any of the other pedicures that were going on at the same time mine was despite my skin being "very dry"). When I was settled at the dryers, the woman who did my manicure then began to massage my back -- a service that many customers seem to enjoy but that I could have easily done without, especially because she proceeded to make a phone call and chat on her phone the entire time she was doing it. It took a lot for me to decide I am worth a little "me" time and the money I spent on these treatments could have easily been used for household expenses or incidental expenses for my daughter. It was hard enough for me to convince myself that I am "worth" this little luxury and the staff at Charming Nails did their best to make me feel that I was not worth their time or their respect. I believe I will still try to make a manicure and pedicure a monthly occurence for myself but I will definitely be getting them at another nail salon. read more

The BEST pedicure I've ever had anywhere. I have been to dozens of nail places from Massachusetts to PA, and Charming Nails (Amy) did the most thorough, careful job ever. At most places I find the operators go through the motions of some of the usual steps, and it bugs when they don't really try to push the cuticle back with that curved metal scraper thing. At Charming, she used that tool the way it's meant to be used, carefully and thoroughly cleaning the surface of every nail. She also cleaned under the nail tips and down the sides of the nails. She took it seriously, which I really appreciate. And she also used a callus-softening gel and abraded my calluses till my feet feel like baby feet. I'm 60--this was a miracle. And she also gives an excellent foot and leg massage, followed by a neck and shoulder massage while my nails were drying. I will never ever go anywhere else (or to anyone else) for a pedicure.. $25 plus cash tip. I'll be back for a manicure and eyebrow and lip wax when I'm through painting my house. I might treat myself to a full body massage, too. read more

I just moved to the area this week. I was in the grocery store and saw a woman with a really good hairstyle so I asked her who who stylist was...while we were talking she suggested I try Charming Nails. I made an appointment for the stylist for the next day and since Charming Nails was very close I went early to see if they would take me as a walk in. They were not crowded so they were able to take me in for a pedicure and a gel nail polish. From the moment I walked in I was thrilled...everyone was very nice and the place was immaculate. I loved that they started working on my nails while I was having my pedicure. The basic pedicure was more like a spa treatment. Great selection of gel polish colors. I LOVED that they give a warm shoulder massage while your nails are drying. This place will get all my business and referrals and they get an A++++++++++++++++++ for service and atmosphere!
