Can't tell you how the food was, never got any. Waited 15 mins and never got a "hello". Then heard they were out do chicken chunks. Another party gave up and left before we did. read more

Everything was very yummy. I especially liked the baked beans. Got butter and honey for the bread without even asking. Service was really good too. DON'T GO TO KFC, thet suck. Charlie's Chicken is my new favorite chicken joint. The area around the DT was clean. read more

I have eaten at Charlie's numerous times and only once did I have a small issue, but they quickly corrected it. The reason I am leaving a 5 star now is because I spoke with Colby the manager on duty at the Charlie's chicken across the street from my office, He and I made arrangements for a veteran who is homeless to have a hot meal and allow me to pay for it. So without any hesitation whatsoever Colby at the Joplin, MO Charlie's chicken and said, absolutely we will help. read more

I loooooove Charlie's Chicken! The food is always good and the service at the counter inside was efficient and polite. read more

My daughter and I stopped in today, Sat. July 19th 2025. 2:40 pm. We both ordered 3 pc chuck meals. 1 w/mashed potatoes/ gravy & baked beans and 1 with mashed potatoes/gravy corn dodgers. Our chunks were warm, a bit salty. Potatoes, thick and cool. Gravy, cool. Baked beans, pleasantly warm. Dodgers cold and stale. Mt dew- great. Lemonade-good. As for service.... 2 young men. The one helping us, barely spoke and acted as if we were inconveniencing his day by being being there. There were two other customers in the lobby. A family of 2 adults and 2 youmg children. And a.single male. Went to the womens restroom, POOP on the toilet. Not necessarily the employees fault. Used the mens room instead as a hover craft. For the money spent. Will NOT go back. Yes, former employee. On good terms. About 8-9 years ago. Not sure of current ownership. read more

I don't recommend going through the drive-through at Charlies Chicken. I ordered a three-piece mixed combo got home and found that I had received three wings and my order had butter, but no roll. Service could be improved. read more

Good food when they have what you want. The service is lacking, but could be improved with a little guidance.

My First & Last. I recently moved to the area and stopped by on my way home from the dog park. I appreciated the drive thru since I had my pups with me. While I didn't expect home style chicken fried in a cast iron skillet I did expect something more than 2 stars. I ordered the #5, five chunks of white meat chicken + 2 sides. $9.81 without a beverage seemed a little pricey but I had high hopes which were soon to be dashed. My first bite of chicken and I'm pretty sure my blood pressure spiked due to the overly salted breading. While I wasn't overly concerned how the meal would affect my blood pressure the amount of salt used in the breading made the chicken inedible. Solution: peel/scrape the breading off of the chicken which made it edible but still rather salty. Unfortunately this defeats the very reason for ordering friend chicken when you have to scrape off the crispy coating. The cole slaw & baked beans were better than expected. They tasted pretty darn close to homemade. The dinner roll was good although I passed on the little tubs of "whipped spread" & used butter while eating the meal at home. Overall I found the portions to be a little on the small side, perhaps had I eaten all the breading the sodium content might have resulted in drinking more iced tea to wash it down and as a result I would be full. The photo shows one chunk devoid of it's breading and the amount of breading I removed from 4.5 chunks. Left on it's own the chicken would have been a single star but the sides & roll brought the rating up to a 2. I won't be back. read more

Charlie's Chicken - 1 chunk + the breading removed from 4 chunks. - Chicken Wings Near Me - Joplin, Missouri

The food is great the service is awesome they have order in or takeout if you prefer.

Food is exellant! Cant comment on service since I always use carryout! Window attendants could use some tips on politeness & attitude!

I've never seen such terrible service that so disregards the entire reason a restaurant is in business. We ordered 4 liver dinners online at 6:58 pm for the Joplin, MO location with a pickup of 7:45 pm. We checked in at 7:40 pm and a man came out a few minutes later to say it would be either 20 minutes to cook liver or they'd refund. We told him we'd ordered in advance with plenty of time to have them prepared, and he agreed and said he'd told them in plenty of time. We said we'd wait the 20 minutes, and 30 minutes later our order had still not been filled. At 8:15 pm we thought we'd go in and check on the order. The hours on the door said the lobby was open until 8:30 pm, but the door was locked. We called in, and a woman said it was slow, so they'd closed the lobby(?!). We went to the drive through to wait, and the man came to say they were going to get the meals ready. I watched as the woman filling them, tall with long brown hair and a head-set, went purposely slow and finally came to the window like no big deal. When told we wouldn't go without checking them, she said "fine" and left. She might as well said "who cares." It was obvious in her manner. No apology. Nothing free for the delay. Nothing but indifference and absolute disregard of the entire reason they are in business--the customer eating their food. If the server doesn't want to work, she should be replaced. If the restaurant doesn't actually want to prepare food or be bothered with customers, they should close the business for good. The food is not good enough to make up for such miserable service. This isn't the first time we've had a lousy experience there. They won't be bothered with our business again. read more

Great place. I had never heard of Charlie's Chicken, apparently this is the only one in Missouri. There was a lot of choices ( I had the catfish) and the food was great, so was the staff. They seem to stay on top of cleaning and wiping down the tables especially because of COVID. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is pricing. It seemed a bit high for what is fast food dining. I do recommend this place if you are passing through. read more

Chicken was okay, called in my order 20 minutes before hand. Ordered a 12 piece meal all dark meat for pickup. Got home only 11 pieces of chicken and no rolls. Called up there and told the manager who was cordial at best. No sorry for your inconvenience, nothing. I am so lucky to go back and get my rolls and my 1 piece of chicken and hope they can get that right. read more

This place is kinda pricey for a drive thru but I will always choose here over KFC. If I'm wanting quick fried chicken then I will come here. Most of the sides and the rolls are homemade. As another person said they don't have real butter or honey so that's a bummer and a waste of rolls but I never eat inside it's always Togo so I just use my own butter and honey at home. read more

I ordered through the drive thru window and a three piece dinner and if I remember right it said that you'll get 'either' a wing 'or' a leg, I got both with a thigh and it was small too and the dinner roll was dry and simi hard. The meal was not worth the $12.99 I paid for it. The young man at the window spoke no more than required. read more

Just ordered through the drive through. Boy have they changed! Roll was dry and unappetizing. The corn dodgers were so stale and cold, I just threw them away. Fortunately the chicken and potatoes were good, otherwise I'd have trashed the whole thing. They used to be so good.. read more

I haven't been in the restaurant but the catering is fire. I've loved everything we have gotten over the years; fried chicken, meatloaf, mashed, BBQ beans, fries, banana pudding, apple cobbler... all of it. It's not my number one but it's damn good. read more

Love their chicken and that they have a variety of sides you can choose from. Also have desserts and plenty of room to sit inside.

Yep. I one star any restaurant that has front house staff that is so incompetent as to prompt a Yelp response to it. Seriously. Bad customer service is a plague in this little corner of the middle of nowhere. I stopped in a little after 1:00 on Super Bowl Sunday. The dining room is full. I knew I'd get good fresh food. I like the food there. The kid actually plating the food was so slow I wondered if this was his first job and who failed in training him. While I was waiting I the told the other kid, bored and leaning on the register with his head rested against his hand, that they were out of everything but trays as we came in. He gestured toward the fountain drinks and said, "We should have some stuff over there" Is it the training? Is it in the freaking water? Is it a raging opioid crisis or is ok to smoke a joint in break now? I want to know. The front of the restaurant should always be clean or in a state of being clean. People that work serving people in any way need to act accordingly. Quit accepting bad service Joplin!!! We deserve better for our money. Don't you think? Don't worry Charlie. You aren't the first to get one star because of employees. Your food is good. I'll give you another chance. I'll change my ratings as deserved. read more

The food at Charlie's is really good here. They have a wide variety of meat and sides for you to choose from and its all fair priced. Would definitely recommend read more

Loved this place and was surprised by the bad reviews. Customer service was top notch, meal was delicious and atmosphere was nice. Was offered free pie on Tuesday which was nice. Portion sizes we thought were great. We actually took food home, which made the price worth it. Honestly it was cheaper than most fast food restaurants. We were traveling through and we will be back when our paths cross. Loved it!! read more

Worst Management there is. Ask for a senior discount and got .15 cent's off a 47.00 ticket.ask for Management and he pick up a dollar out of the tip jar and threw it on the counter and said that well mae it up. I was shock and he walk away not saying anything else. Rude customer service. Food was great. But the last three times we been there they always mess up our order. Sorry to say but they lost our business. And at 48.00 a pop th hats alot to lose with ty he way things are now days. Totally uncalled for. read more

Dined in on 4Feb only to once again experience small portion sizes. Don't go here hungry. The kid serving looks barely old enough to be employed. The role was the size of dime. The ice machine didn't work AGAIN. I came here every other day for months. Now just visit once or twice a month. The scoops need to be two full scoops of vegetables. If some fall back in the container then retrieve them please. They had so much more than many smaller mom and pops but shoot themselves in the foot with a poor business model. read more

Good food but truly weird service...very stilted and awkward, like their staff all came from a very different non-food service background. They aren't exactly rude, they all just seem shy and antisocial! I'm not sure what is going on with Charlie's Chicken employees but at least the food is tasty. If you happen to pick up takeout or hit the drive thru window, be sure to ask for anything you might possibly need (such as condiments), they really don't pick up on things like that here. My elderly relatives adore this place so I have enough experiences here to say all of this with complete confidence that my "weird service" description of Charlie's is not a one off but the way it is, all the time! read more

Well that was a waste of $10!!! Absolutely the worst chicken I've eaten. The skin was so tough I couldn't even eat it. The chicken inside dry and cold. This is supposed to be a chicken joint but at 6pm, dinner time, they had no legs no thighs just breast that had apparently sat there for quite some time. I'll never eat here again!!! read more

The chicken chunks are juicy and tender, easy to eat. Great for a bad tummy, but you have to peel off the breading. The mixed veggies are super tender and our son, who's a picky eater, ate all his veg from here! The blackberry dessert is awesome. The catfish has no "fishy" taste, breaded perfectly. We've not had a bad meal from here ever. Please stop in and find out how good the food really is! read more

If you love Country style food, you'll love Charlie's Chicken! Fried chicken was very juicy. The fried catfish was very tasty as well! There is an abundance of sides to choose from! I recommend their mashed potatoes, carrots, okra, and broccoli salad! They had a couple desserts that looked tasty but we opted to not try them this time....next time! read more

VERY greasy. Lots of breading on the gizzards and when you order an entire chicken for $11.99 do not get your hopes up. You get get four pieces of cut up chicken in a box. Very disappointing. On the flip side the staff was quite pleasant. read more

A waste of my time and a waste of all of our money. The food is so greasy and utterly revolting that it's a marvel that their costumers don't drop dead upon entry. The staff is lazy, rude, and the whole place is utterly unheigenic. The staff has, multiple times, failed to fulfill orders correctly, and have even done so on purpose. The food is overpriced and under served. I warn you, never eat here! read more
