I've eaten a lot of wings, and this place is among the best I've ever had. Definitely the best in the four state area and I'm including Springfield and Tulsa in that. Big fan of their sweet potato puffs and fried green beans too. The only problem (like many places since COVID) is that the service can be very iffy. There were two times a few years ago I ordered and waited over an hour before getting my food with no explanation of apology. Kind of soured me on the place for a while. Another great trip to Hackett Hot Wings!! This time we tried the Garlic Cheese Curds and they were good , but heavy on the garlic so be aware! Also, got the Hot & Honey wings and they were really good! We also got the dry rubbed and those were heavily seasoned and very crispy. They were VERY tasty!! Once again, service was great! It is advertised as a popular spot. We were a large group in from out of town (most of us). The cocktail at the bar was great and I had a second. No complaints there. I ordered the boneless with a honey sauce and the mushrooms. I did not care for either. I don't like things that are super spicy but a bit more flavor might have helped. The sauce was watery in the bottom of the basket. The mushrooms were breaded and fried but when I bit into them, also watery with little flavor. Service was ok for me, but my friend ordered something they ran out of, yet it was quite some time before they came to tell her. Heard and read great things about this spot, so I wanted to make sure I stopped in. We sat in the sports room. Tons of TVs, plenty of high tops. Had a group of people doing their fantasy draft and seemed like there was plenty of room to do that. Our server Cassandra came over, helped us with all the beers on tap and answered menu questions for us. Decided to order the 5 piece garlic parm and a 5 piece suicide sauce. Note that you cannot order two sauces with the 10 piece, you have to order two 5 piece orders. The prices for a 5 piece seem a bit high at $8.50 though. Wings came out very quick and were cook pretty close to how I like them. The skin wasn't too crispy, was just right. The meat easily came off the bone. I appreciated the amount of actual parm that came on the garlic parm, but I was missing that garlic punch to complement it. If you're looking for heat, maybe ask for an extra side of suicide sauce. I didn't find it to be much hotter than a typical buffalo style sauce. Having said that, the flavor of the sauce was tasty and I would 10/10 recommend for flavor, but lower your heat expectations. read more

Their wings are not world famous, maybe the 500 block of Joplin famous. Their food is very sub par and pricey. I decided to get the burger in a bowl!! It is a waste of money. Service was awful, we had a group of 10, it was my son's birthday (14) so we had him his friends and family, some of the group had to get up and get their own refills because their drinks had been empty for so long, my youngest had spilled his water and cleaned it up himself but was left without a drink for almost 30 mins before I finally decided to get up and walk around, found out server up front chatting with other workers. If you go in a group you have to tip automatically and I understand but in this case it we were all pissed about having to tip someone who wasn't doing anything. First time here and what a treat! We were passing through on our way to the lake and decided to give it a shot and order to go. Not only were the wings fantastic, (I got plain and my husband got jerk) but I got to meet Coach Hackett himself and hear his story! Such a blessing to hear where he started and see where he is! There was a woman there celebrating her birthday and she said she'd been coming since Coach Hackett had a one room place to eat! The girls that served us were so kind and treated us like royalty! Online function was down and since there were menu differences I believe it is outdated. I called to place my order and which included chicken chunks and fried green beans. The person ( whose name I will withhold) took my order and told me when to come pick it up after confirming the order. After getting the food I find out that it is inaccurate in which the employee argues that it was me who got the order wrong and that she doesn't make mistakes. She offered for me to purchase more food which I declined. Rude. Human error exists and I believe that online ordering could of provided evidence that I placed my order in accurately. Lastly , chicken chunks were dry and flavorless. Getting specialty flavors that include hot n honey & lemon pepper would imply , to me, that they would be packed with flavor. They were not. I was in Joplin for work. It was told about Hackett hot wings. I thought I'd give them a try. I was really disappointed. They did not live up to what I was told. I placed to go order for 10 wings... 5 Cajun Dry Rub and 5 Brandon Williams... plus fried green beans, and a small french fry. The flavor of the wings was okay but there was absolutely very little meat to them. I've had better wings from Chili's. The green beans were pretty good and french fries were solid, but nothing to rave about. The atmosphere is definitely a bar setting and one out of about eight employees was helpful. My to go order took about 20 minutes and I had to go back and ask for someone to check on it, which they then brought it out. I am not sure Jesus could get me to go there again. It's been a while since my last visit. On purpose! I went with a fairly large group. I had been there before and knew the food was just average. I knew the service was substandard but, it was for a party and it wasn't about me, so I went. After 2 hours and repeated requests I still had never received a danged glass of water! Everyone else had been served their food and had finished their meals. I didn't get a glass of water or my order taken or ANYTHING and I had asked repeatedly. When I actually complained and didn't request a glass of water the waitress told me to come with her because she was busy. And I had to get up and follow her. I've got some health issues. No water to sooothe my throat threw me into a coughing fit. I was doubled over and couldn't catch my breath. She scolded me. Wild horses couldn't drag me back. The time I was in there, a couple of weeks before they got into an argument with someone in my party and threw him out. The waitress also tried to refuse to get me a glass of wine. She thought I should drink beer because she had never served wine. Grrrrr! That time I called the owner and told her about their staff and how just low class it is. Hackett's is a local staple for our town. Usually love this place especially the greek rub or the hot n honey on the traditional wings. This time though the wings just seemed really small. Really needed twice a much to get full, but the flavor was still popping and spot on. I may have to break down and get boneless wings just to get some meat. I went to high school in Joplin and this was and still is my favorite restaurant hands down. It is a must go to when I come back and I highly highly recommend stopping by if you are in Joplin! The one thing I ALWAYS get are the hot and honey wings. The wings are always cooked perfectly here, but let me tell you about that hot and honey flavor. It is absolutely delicious and a flavor I have not had anywhere else ever. It is the perfect blend of sweet and spicy. The sauce is so addicting and I am not the only one who thinks that because they now sell bottles of their signature sauce. I've brought the bottle back with me to Florida and everyone who has tasted it agree that it is delicious. I call it my "crack" sauce lol. They offer other flavors as well of course, like their "suicide" habanero and lemon pepper, and they are all really good, but my go to will always be the hot n honey. I have to admit as much as I do love love Hackett's, I always get that disappointment feeling when their wings come out because they seem to always get smaller and smaller. That is why I took off a star. I've seen Hackett Hot Wings expand from their original tiny houselike and continued to expand to what it is now with both a dining room and a really spacious sports bar room. The sports room also have many large screen TVs that make it the perfect place to go watch any sporting events. The customer service is always amazing, attentive, and friendly. Food was cold and undercooked, the fish was absolutely rotten. Had a terrible smell and texture. The chicken came out cold and hard as a rock. I am not even exaggerating. Couldn't even take more than two bites without feeling like I was going to throw up. My husband and I didn't even eat our food. Just bad. We also ordered the fried pickles as an appetizer and there was literally 8 pickles. That was it. The price was outrageous for the portion. I've been to many places and they give you a whole basket for a fair price. The manager saw how bad our food was and it was untouched and gave us only $20 off. Will never be back. We have been going to Hackett Hot Wings since they first started their business in a small building on Broadway in Joplin Missouri. I always enjoyed going there and chatting with the owners. I am happy they were able to expand their business to the larger facility on Main Street but miss the intimacy of the small place they started in. If you're in Joplin and looking for wings, This place is a definite hard pass. Yeah, they have wings but the wings were TINY. I mean, like bite sized. The chicken chunks were Oh, and when you list your sauces with a heat rating from 1-5 peppers, and your sauce called "Suicide" is listed as 5 peppers, one would think it should be pretty hot? It was like a medium or so at one of the other larger chain wing joints. The beer selection was pretty lackluster as well. Lots of macros and a few macro IPAs (Lagunitas, Goose, etc..) Atmosphere in the sports bar was pretty loud as basketball was on, which if that's what you're looking for this place delivers. One other thing I found strange was that they closed at 9. Odd for a place in a college town that also serves alcohol to close st 9PM on a Thursday. I walked in around 8:20 and they said I had plenty of time to eat. My food didn't arrive until around 8:45, and about 5 minutes later staff are turning chairs upside down on tables to start cleaning. I thought this place would have local written all over it as it came highly recommended by a few locals, but it's literally worse than any chain joint I've had wings at. After a short wait we were seated in the bar area and despite them being very low staffed and tons of large parties, we were pleasantly surprised to see what staff members they did have helping each other out and helping all the tables.
