Came when they first opened last weekend. The patio has great view of the pier and water. The inside is rustic but very 'busy' as there are so many unique things like chandelier, different style of chairs, different types of tables, accent lighting, etc. The fish chip was good although not the best I've had. It may look crispy but it wasn't crunch crispy. It was a little soft. Our server was pleasant but they just opened so basically it was a rush of 12-15 small groups, so she was extremely busy.

We are visiting from California, close to Bodega Bay, so we do know Fish & Chips, which is what we ordered and it did not disappoint ! The fish was a fresh wild cod, we had FF and Coleslaw and all was good. We also had a top shelf blended Strawberry Margarita and a Hazy IPA. The atmosphere was cool and our view was the bay. Staff was also kind.

Better than expected considering the location. Clam chowder is beautifully presented and very flavorful (a bit salty) Fish n chips: huge in portion, tastes average Lime margarita: watery, a bit overpriced Service good but a bit slow ~~ 海边众多fish n chips店之一 这家算是个bar 所以关门比较晚 本以为是宰游客的那种店 但其实还行 clam chowder:鲜美 咸 很多蔬菜(其实纤维太多不太好消化) fish n chips 超大份 不会难吃 酒一般 服务一般因为妹子的注意力全在前面两桌party的客人身上叻

A group of us stopped into Charlie's for a quick drink before pressing on with our day. The day of our visit was rainy so the warmth of Charlie's was welcoming. We also sat right next to the fireplace while enjoying our sips. Charlie's offers an outdoor seating area to enjoy on warmer days. There are blankets provided at each table to ward off the chill. Nice touch Charlie. Visa and MasterCard are accepted forms of payment. Indoors is eclectic and visually stimulating. I had a Fat Tug IPA for $6.95 and my daughter had a Bellini for $8.95. Our server was friendly and efficient. Thank you Charlie's for whetting our whistle on our day of adventures.

It was a blue sky sunny beautiful Saturday for sure. Came to Whiterock from the border starving like a bear! After cruising the strip we parked & settled on trying out Charlie Don't Surf, after all - 'I'm not worried!' The name is from the classic movie Apocalypse Now. Copy & past or click the following link below onto the web or rather - The Google - & scroll down to point #4. https://www-surfertoday-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.surfertoday.com/surfing/charlie-dont-surf-the-story-of-the-movie-quote-in-apocalypse-now/ It is situated centrally at a prime location on the strip, at Whiterock Beach! It is a mainstay stop for a bite & ultimate prime 180 degree views of the beach. Ordered a Bellini that was not the usual I'm used to - which was surprisingly good! It was less sugary & tasted smoother in that I didn't get that headrush combination of alcohol & sugar flooding my brain! Started with a great portion size & very delicious calamari! We shared a salmon bowl - again great portion size after having just had an amazing calamari. The fabulous San Francisco Salad was so tasty - I will have to have it again next time I come back. What did I love about this joint - lots of tables, excellent roadside/beach patio with the best views, good service & food! Lastly you get to see cool cars drive by & beautiful people walking about.

The shop was 1/4 occupied only. We were there at around 1610, reception told us to finish the table within 20 mins, we are OK. As we plan to have a drink to cool down only. We gave phone number and name to receptionist, she told us to wait 5 mins for sms then we can get in. We stood there for another 15 mins under the bright sun, melted. I walked in again to check out the status. It seems the receptionist is missing. At the same time waiter told us to wait for her to come back. We waited another 10 mins and left. At the end we didn't get that SMS at all. I wanted to point out, if you don't want to serve, kindly let us know. Don't set our expectation to wait 5 mins and make us wait under sun next to the road 30 mins. Thanks.

Cod fish and chips

Charlie's fish n chips has always been on my bucket list to try when I visit White Rock! Their fish n chips are SOOO amazing, the deep fried pacific cod was crispy and tasted so amazingly fresh! The staff was so nice to split the plate for the two of us too~ also loved their clam chowder, creamy and rich! You can taste the freshness of the seafood, and chopped of bites of clam inside. Their patio seating space is very very nice and spacious with the protection clear boards in between tables. We only waited around 10 mins and we went around 12:30-1:00. Charlie's World Famous Fish + Chips $19.95 House Made Clam Chowder (bowl) $9.95

Been wanting to dine here and finally was able to do it last Saturday. The weather was awesome too. We ordered Tacos, Fish and Chips and their Burgers. We loved all of it. The place was so busy and we had to wait for an hour. We complained to our server and he was very apologetic. To ensure we come back and that we had a great experience, our awesome server gave us a gift card due to the wait. We were not disappointed, albeit the wait, we will surely be back.

We saw a long line at this place so we thought it must be good. Unfortunately we felt fooled.. we decided to order take out so it would be nice to eat at the beach. We ordered Charlie's famous beef burger and calamari to share. But when we went to pick up our food... nothing was ready! Had to wait an additional 15 min for them to "pack" our food. When receiving the food we were already starving ... but by the time we got to our spot to eat no utensils or napkins were found in the bag. The fries looked and tasted dark/ overcooked , patty frozen, not even a handmade burger.... such disappointment and the Calamari was so tiny for the price... we felt so cheated Really wish it wasn't this upsetting but it was.

We've been here a few times now and the food is always amazing. The fish n chips are great, and the service was amazing. Definitely one of our favourite spots in White Rock! Would heavily recommend checking this place out!

Even though I didn't get to eat anything from the menu except flat bread n nachos I would still give 4 stars . It's because of extra polite n courteous servers, warm n cozy interior, nice ambience n clean washrooms . I just loved the rustic interior n live fireplace . Cocktails were also good but not strong enough to hit . Even though I got extra rum added. I guess it did good job in keeping me warm then tipping me . I am definitely going again to taste the collection of sea food that they have. I read the menu which was full of variety of food options with some options for vegetarians. It was busy from 11 to 3 n I am pretty sure it gets packed for dinner time too.

Moby Dick - Great

I ordered the platter that came with a whole bunch of stuff including fried oysters, scallops and shrimp. A small place that can get pretty busy but worth the wait.

Moby Dick's is obviously a busy place in the summer, being right across from the waterfront -- but…read morein January, it's a sleepy area and the restaurant is active, but not too busy. We found the food unremarkable - standard fish, standard chips, standard coleslaw, standard tartar sauce. All fried food is pretty standard, pretty greasy, but not any better or worse than many fish & chips shops. So why a 3-star rating rather than 4-stars? First, there is there menu and pricing: What is called a 1-piece fish & chips comes with 2 pieces - all identified fish comes with one extra piece. It's a gimmick, and mostly just annoying. 2nd, there is a charge for everything -- Want tartar sauce? There are three sizes, three prices. Want to substitute onion rings for the fries? Can't do it, even with an up-charge, though you can order fish and you can order onion rings, each separately, each with its own price. Coleslaw? Yes, but not instead of fries. And the coleslaw is pricey - a good sized portion, but a substantial price none-the-less. The portion sizes are reasonably large, but the incessant a-la-carte with each item with a price - one feels nickled and dimed to death. The atmosphere - ok, 1950s-ish, nothing special. The staff, friendly and attentive, but young and inexperienced. And then there was the problem with the cooking -- we got 5 pieces of fish (ordered 2 and 1, which is really 2+1 and 1+1 = 5). Four of them were pretty standard. One was undercooked - cooked on the outer edges (under the fried batter), and raw and translucent on the inside. Yes, they took that off the ticket, so I didn't have to pay for it, but biting into a piece of raw fish with the outside so hot it almost burned my mouth and the inside uncooked - not so pleasant. Moby Dick's gets good ratings from many Yelpers, but in my view, it's not worth going out of your way for.
