When we got to checkout, we were still trying to figure out what my little one wanted. Our cashier had started chatting with a coworker for a moment (which was totally fine since we were still deciding). A leas abruptly interrupted and told her to help us right away. I get the intention, but it probably would've been better handled by pulling her aside instead of calling her out in front of everyone especially since she didn't realize we weren't ready yet. Even with that awkward moment, the cashier stayed professional and calm, which I really respected. Checkout itself was quick and efficient, and our food came out within minutes, fresh and exactly what you'd expect. But the real star of the show was the sweetest hostess. While we were sitting down, she came by with the biggest smile and asked if I wanted a water refill. Then she brought my little one a stuffed animal, which immediately had her grinning ear to ear. Every time she walked by after that, she gave us the warmest smile like grandma energy that just makes a place feel welcoming. To top it off, we went to grab our free rewards ice cream and my little one really wanted strawberry. They only had vanilla, but a manager went above and beyond and he scooped vanilla into a cup and added strawberry preserves on top to make it happen. Little moments like that go a long way. The service was fast and employees were super nice. I was very impressed and felt very welcomed. Prior to arriving here, I had a huge meal, I couldn't eat anything else. They didn't shoo me away because I only ordered a drink. I sat on a table by the trash can to catch up with my friends on social media. Suddenly, an employee walked up to ask why I wasn't eating anything. Haha. I told her that I couldn't fit one more solid food in my stomach. Then, we had a short conversation. So nice. I may have sat there for an hour or so. My feet regained energy. I thought to get a piece of brownie for the road. Overall, I had a wonderful experience at this 290 Cypress restaurant. I'm the one that was mistaken. With a Caniac craving, I arrived past 9pm on a Sunday to the busiest Cane's I've ever see. The drive-thru line wrapped around the building. The parking lot remained full. The amount of vehicles circling the building hoping to find a spot caused mild traffic disturbances. Waze marked the lead in road as red for standstill traffic- okay, I'm kidding with that one, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did. Among all of this, the employees of Cane's stayed strong. Like a well oiled machine they powered through the endless line. They were efficient for sure, but I was most impressed by their care and customer service. This team is truly running like a well oiled machine. As far as the food, Cane's is Cane's. If you're new to this concept, you really only need to keep two things in mind. 1. They serve 4 main items, fried chicken tenders (yes, only tenders), crinkle fries, coleslaw, and Texas toast. These 4 items are offered in a handful of variations and combinations. 2. No matter which combo tickles your pickle, enjoy it with Cane's sauce. In addition to a basic requirement for the chicken, it also pairs well with the fries, their Texas toast, and most any protein or savory bread you have lying around the house. The best part was the Mac n cheese which was really creamy. I was a bit on the fence on if I like the flavor of the sauce they used though.
