I figured 7 years means I may be due for an update, considering I've probably been here a dozen times since my last review. I stand by my original review- I'm not huge a fan of the cheesesteaks here. Maybe it's in how they season the meat, but they just don't taste right. I've tried several varations of them, too- couldn't even get behind the pepperoni one. That's not to say everything's bad, though. The chicken and turkey sandwiches are ok. The Ultimate Club I think it's called, with chicken, bacon and ranch is my favorite sandwich here- and I've tried most over the years. Sierra Vista's the perfect location for this kind of fast-casual place, imo and the main reason I come here. Nearby options such as Panera and Chipotle are non-options for me (because they suck) so Charley's is still the best option for a quick, non- sitdown meal in the area so it gets an extra star for that. . To put it bluntly, Charley's is closer to the Subway end of the spectrum than the Deli D end of the chain sandwich spots. read more

Will never come back. Manager who took my order was extremely rude. Food is trash anyway. Girls making sandwiches were nice . .. This place makes good sandwiches. I especially like the philly cheese steak deluxe that has steak, grilled onions, green peppers, mushrooms, and provolone. I also like the philly chicken. The chicken teriyaki is pretty good. I don't like the chicken buffalo. This location of Charley's is my favorite of the two in the Fresno area. This location is at Sierra Vista mall in Clovis in the outside courtyard area nearer to the theater. The employees are very helpful and nice. We got a take-out dinner from Charley's last night because both I and the man were too lazy to cook anything. I ordered the chipolte chicken sub with fries and he had a grilled turkey sub. We got both subs with lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions and mushrooms, cheese, pretty much the works. Both sandwiches were tasty and what one would expect for five bucks a pop: not gourmet by any stretch but also not inedible muck. Think of this place as an alternative to Quiznos and a definite step up from Subways and you will be neither surprized nor disappointed by what they offer up. We were going to eat in the shop, but it was really, really hot in there. I don't know if their air conditioning was on the fritz or what, but after ordering we waited outside for our food because even though it was in the high 80s yesterday afternoon, the sidewalk was way cooler than inside. read more

Just had this for lunch for the first tiime in a long time. Pretty good. Everything was cooked well. Service was nice, place seemed clean to me. I got the Philly Cheesesteak. The only thing I would ask is that there be visible mushrooms in my sandwich that is supposed to come with mushrooms. The fries were good. Is there better? Sure, is there worse? The only bad part of our experience is none of the tables were cleaned, it looked like for awhile. I've been to this place a few times, the subs are AMAZING. Much better than subway and I'm willing to pay that extra price to get that kind of quality. Can't go wrong with a philly cheesesteak and the staff that help me are always friendly. The food is made fresh and right when you order, even the fries. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh boy. Alright look, listen? And get ready to be blown away. These subs are hot and so is the restaurant. It was like 500 degrees outside and it was like 495 inside. Why am I paying for you to heat my sub when the sun is doing half the job? Anyway I got the big Italy or whatever. It had like every meat and Italian dressing. It was pretty good but it was no Rome Rye. Why do we assume these meats are the only thing Luigi's eat over there? Their country is shaped like a boot, can't we capitalize on that? Anyway, also I got the cheese fries with bacon and that was great except for the fact that I burnt my freaking mouth on them. How about a warning sign on the front door that says "Everything here is really hot" I think the person at the register had gotten some sandwich dust in her eye or something because she kept scratching it in between sandwiches. 0 stars if I could. I'm so disappointed. This is the first time I've gone in a year. I waited 30 minutes to get my food. I don't mind a long wait if it's busy, but there were only 2 other orders before me. They had to wait almost equally as long. When I finally got my food it was cold. The fries were FROZEN. My sandwich was cold. This is unacceptable, especially considering there were 4 workers (a 5th one came at the end when I was about to get my food.) I watched as the workers moved in slow motion. Pretending to work, from my perspective. The only person who was really working was the one who took my order. Kudos to that guy! He's great. I feel sorry for him that he has to work with slow coworkers and a slow manager. read more

While my chicken philly was absolutely yummy in my tummy, I had to give this place 3 stars because of the fries... they were like a semi warm pile of mush with cheese and ranch. One of my "go to" places for a good hot cheesesteak. Being a formula fast-casual, I'm not expecting anything that will blow my mind, but their hot subs are always consistently delicious, and their price-point is fair. I also love their gourmet fries topped with cheese and bacon (shh... don't tell my cardiologist). The kids also love their pink lemonade. I'll keep this review short and sweet because there really isn't anything new I can say about them that hasn't already been said, but I'll wrap it up by saying great sandwiches, good prices and most importantly, consistent. I am going to apologize to the two ladies working there that day. I walked in on a Wednesday afternoon and waited as they spoke about their lives. I waited about a minute and walked up to the register, but they ignored me. They carried on with their conversation for about 20 seconds. I did not want to interrupt their intense conversation but I had to ask if they are closed. There were no patrons and no service. However, once they stopped talking, they were on a roll. They made the sandwich quickly and packaged it to go. Food was tasty and fresh. I enjoyed the food, but I do not want to experience that awkward beginning again. read more

I had went into CHARLIE's today to order a couple of sandwiches with a friend of mine that has never been there but I was always heard of how highly I spoke of them.I have made a comment to one of the managers previously about a year and a half ago regarding the preparing of the food.Today the young man that was preparing the meat chopped it up with the vegetables where it didn't look right they messed up many orders and then when we got our Philly cheesesteak fries they were not cooked that is the biggest thing of their french fries never cooked soggy in the middle.The Young lady was very sincere and nice about things.It is when we left and tried the Philly cheesesteak fries is that again I noticed under cooked and the meat was dry on the sandwiches and just was done wrong.In my opinion they need to serve shoestring fries that will cook faster And not be so thick and slow down and maybe hire some more employees and get it done right.To say it's the best Philly cheesesteak in the world is not true it used to be pretty good but it is not the best.Unless they get things straightened out unfortunately this will be my last time going in there..... read more

First and last time here. The service was not good at all. I had never been here and never seen the menu and the girl at the counter was in a hurry to take the order. They overcooked the meat and it had no flavor and was very dry and they are over priced. All I can say is wow!!! I waited in line for over 10 minutes just to order my food while my husband was getting himself some Chipotle. There were 2 girls working there, one of which was taking orders and managing the fries while the other was manning the grille. I had to walk out after waiting so long and the counter girl had just begun taking the families order in front of me. There were maybe 3 people inside who had just gotten their food. I got very annoyed and walked back to the car where my husband was already waiting for me with his dinner. I ended up walking over to Dickies where I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. The food was salty and soggy and visually unappealing. They dumped a bunch of wilted, soggy lettuce on my sandwich, even after I asked for no lettuce. They also failed to make the order to go. I would expect this if they were busy, but I was the only customer in the store. The 2 girls working acted mean and stand-offish. More like 3.5 stars. They could get 5 if they changed a few things. Their sandwiches are really, really good. I always get the philly deluxe and no cheese. They prepare it pretty quickly. Tastes fresh, not greasy. Things to improve; Don't be so skimpy with the peppers, onions, and mushrooms. These balance the sandwich out, and I paid extra for them. The service isn't much. Young people who don't smile and don't seem to want to be there. And please, keep it comfortable in there. Have been there in the summer, and was way too warm in there. Was there last night, and it was freezing - and I had on a jacket. Also, parking can be tricky in that area due to the closeness of the movie theatre. read more
