On the first day we moved to Tulsa, we went to Charleston's. We've enjoyed it for decades. No matter what location, it's consistently great food. The menu is varied, and suitable for all ages. Their margaritas are some of the best in town. But on this visit, we both had their really delicious freshly brewed tea. And, the service is always wonderful! I very time your tea glass starts running low, they bring you another fresh glass! I'm sorry I can't remember our servers name but we sat in a booth in the bar area about noon on Friday. We had the shrimp appetizer and it was scrumptious! Emma had the fried chicken salad and said it was wonderful with their house made garlic dressing. I had a cheeseburger and it was perfection. The fries were so crunchy on the outside, not greasy and so yummy! We love every location but the Brookside location is my favorite! Tip: the parking lot can be difficult to navigate during peak periods. I suggest you pull down the street North of the restaurant between them and Trader Joe's, and pull in the back side of their parking lot. Hesitant about visiting a chain but we couldn't find anything else that worked around my wife's allergies last minute for lunch. The spinach artichoke was average as an appetizer. This is the first time I had ever had a problem with this location. This has been one of my go to restaurants for a while now and not to sure if it still is after tonight. I've never met a Charleston's that I leave disappointed. Especially this location because I was immediately sat, drinks never went less than halfway empty and the food from start to finish was absolutely divine! Their german chocolate cake had to be my absolute favorite! For $9 you get a HUGE slice that is plenty big enough for 3 maybe even 4 people to share. It's warm, thick, moist and just melts in your mouth. I'm not a big coconut fan so I've never really cared for this dessert but in this particular kind there's just so much more flavor than just the coconut definitely try it out! Typically I get the chicken tenders platter because the batter on the chicken is just so light and flaky. It's definitely not your typical fried chicken it's the kind of dish that you read the menu and think wow I won't be able to eat all those but you finish every last crumb because it's oh so good! I opted out this time and got the smoked salmon Caesar salad it's topped with cheese, onions and cucumbers ( I opted out on the tomatoes). This of course comes with their divine croissants that these literally melt in your mouth if you haven't had them you've got to because they're the best in the entire USA! I really enjoyed the salmon because it was super light yet super filling. The sauce that they drizzle over the salmon is very addicting also whatever it is, I want an extra bowl of it to drip everything in! My dad got the chicken fried steak which is a classic done right but what really is fantastic is their sides of the carrots that are honey glazed (YUM) and their mashed potatoes that you won't stop eating. After writing this review it makes me want to dine at charlestons tomorrow because their food is just so gosh darn good! read more

I had a Caesar salad which was ok and they gave me a big croissant but I am trying to go light on the gluten so my friend had it and she thought it was good. I had the tilapia over rice and snap peas. Our waitress had promoted the Brussels sprouts but then they ran out. The fish was good but the peas were drowning in butter. That was disappointing and 2) there was not enough au jus as the container was only filled half way. That's the problem with to-go orders. You don't know until you get home. Extensive menu, a lot of good on it (I'm not a huge fan of the pastas, otherwise). For the first week of each month they offer keylime pie as a special offering. Divine. Several other delicious sweets. Fam believes theirs is the best bread pudding in town. Owned by same group as Mahogany. A couple of desserts overlap. Over the years and the scores of visits, service *litterally* averages 4-4.5 stars. No hyperbole here--staff is trained well. Do not go here if you are vegan. They lured us in with promises of an Impossible Burger but it comes with cheese and a mayo based sauce. Which is easy enough to order without but none of their bread options are vegan. They have a lettuce wrap that one can get but, really, no vegan bread? Wha, how, you don't... We've been twice previously, once at each location, and each time the server checked with the kitchen and assured us that the bread they were serving us was vegan. This time they were absolutely, 100% sure they had no vegan bread options. Even after we told them we had been served bread we were assured was vegan before. Nope, they are certain that was a mistake. So, either way, most the staff (especially the managers) are either illiterate, unconcerned or both. Further, the only vegan side one may order with the Impossible Burger is French fries. Again, fine, but really, the quinoa is not vegan (it's made with butter)? The server did say he could have some fresh veggies steamed for us which was nice. We left without ordering because who wants to be lied to about the vegan status of menu items and, come on, a lettuce wrapped Impossible Burger? That's like ordering a super sized whatever with a diet Coke. I was very ready to write that every time I have been, before being vegan, as a vegan, whenever, the service has been impeccable. Very helpful, attentive, willing to work with you as a vegan but this bread disagreement amongst staff is frustrating. It's all well and good to smile at me and tell me I can have whatever I want. All I want are real answers based on ingredient lists. If you don't have anything vegan, great. That's a business's choice and I appreciate and respect that. Just tell me.
