One of the first things that will hit you when you walk in is the rich, smokey smell of the restaurant. I great way to get your stomach excited and your salivary glands put on notice. Once you are seated, you will notice the relaxing atmosphere with its dark wood interior and subtle lighting that focuses on the table and the food, while giving the diners a sense of privacy. We dined here on a Thursday evening with some friends. We were seated quickly at a spacious table where we did not feel crowded. Our Server was Callie who did a fantastic job of taking care of us throughout the evening. For our appetizer, we chose the Queso with chips and salsa. Queso had great flavor and the large chips were fresh and crisp. My wife ordered the Perfect Margarita, which I also tasted. It is one of the better Margaritas you will find in Norman with a great balance of flavor. My wife also ordered the Top Sirloin with baked potato and Caesar salad with house-made croutons. The steak was tender with great flavor and cooked as requested. We also added a skewer of Grilled Shrimp that was so tasty that I could probably make a meal of it. Our friend ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and Fried Okra and said it was very good. I ordered the Enchilada Plate which had delicious smokey grilled chicken with enchilada sauce. Outstanding flavor with a sauce that didn't overwhelm the dish. The tortillas were a little tough on the bottom, but did not negatively affect the experience. For dessert, we ordered and shared the Key Lime Pie and the German Chocolate Cake. The pie was superb with great flavor and what seemed to be a pecan-laden graham cracker type of crust. I am not a fan of coconut, so I did not try the German Chocolate cake, but it was almost gone at the end of the meal, so I knew it must have been good. Highly recommend the dining experience here and am looking forward to going back soon and trying the Baked Potato Soup I have heard so much about. read more

Very comfortable setting, upscale feel. First thing you notice though is exceptional staff and they don't stop throughout the meal. Jose et al. Waitstaff are sharply appointed, professional and attentive. I travel nationwide weekly and this staff is far above the normal dining experience, on par with far more expensive establishments. Kudos to management for hiring good people, training them well and maintaining high standards. Really can't say enough. Salad was again above average with extra care to presentation and ingredients, puff role, great blue cheese dressing. Blacked tilapia with brussel sprouts was delicious. Charleston's is my "go to" restaurant when meeting friends for dinner - it's conveniently located on Ed Noble Parkway kinda across from Sooner Mall. The food here is some of the best in any restaurant in Norman and the service is always phenomenal. There is nothing on their menu that is not good, especially Walt's Champagne Salad! Strong point is "value", but the trade off is that menu wasn't particularly interesting and there's a bit of a conveyor belt vibe lurking within the generally efficient service. Last night we had my 19 yr old grandsons birthday dinner at the Norman location. It was delicious. We started with the queso. Who knew it was the best we'd ever had?! Our entrees were all different and each was perfectly prepared. The waitstaff was outstanding. Our waiter was cute and efficient. He was supported though by staff who dropped off rolls, bar drinks, and refills as soon as they were available. I love the acoustics in Charleston's, you can always talk at your table and relax. Had the Famous French Dip. Very tasty. Perfectly cooked. Construction seemed off for the "dipping". My son had the chicken fried steak which was good. My wife had the sea bass which was good but slightly overcooked. Similarly my daughter's chicken was a bit overcooked. In general, I'd definitely come back though. read more

First time at this Charleston's, nice place! Very friendly bartender, she mixed a mean Manhattan Mule. After a long day of traveling, we ordered the Chicken Piccata. This is a critical review but for the standards that Charleston's tries to represent I think it's fair. I have to say my trip to Charleston's was a mixed bag, after avoiding it for several years after a mediocre and over priced dinner, my friend and I decided to go Sunday for a brunch meal. We were seated a great booth and the service was excellent. I think 6 separate people were involved in our service but all of them were great. No my real issue was the food, we started out with Shrimp cargot, a take on Escargot, cooked in garlic butter and topped with melted cheese. It was a good dish though i think I would have preferred real escargot for the price. A $10 appetizer with 6 bites seemed a tad over priced but i figured at least it tasted good. The bread for the toast points could have been something other than toasted white bread but it sufficed. I order the grilled trout with vegetables, and my friend ordered the 10oz prime rib with mashed potatoes. When we got our food the presentation was great, large portions and bright colors. However my friends 20$ order of prime rib was exceedingly tough, so tough in fact I suggested returning it. I cannot overstate how odd or how weird it is that a place like Charleston's cannot cook a piece of meat properly. However as I started eating my fish I noticed something that turns me off immediately. Uncle Ben's prefabricated rice....minute rice, what ever you want to call it. Bland tasteless rice that detracted from the dish. What kind of high end restaurant uses minute rice?? If you want nice service this place is fine but if you want quality food look elsewhere. read more

I can't say I've ever had a bad experience at Charleston's. The service is always fantastic. The restaurant, including the bathrooms, are always clean. If there's a wait, there is a great bar to keep you happy. I've gone in pretty large groups (8-10) and tiny groups. I've been there for lunch and dinner and have had their: steak (always just how I ordered it), chicken tenders (the best I've ever had anywhere), chicken sandwich (any of them, their tasty), champagne chicken salad that comes with a croissant that melts in your mouth, and I've even had their pizza. Yes, they have pizza, and their good at that too. If you'd like to know what wine to pair with your food, they are more than happy to make a recommendation for you. read more

Realize it's a chain, but my family and I have been coming here since I was a teenager and we've never had a bad experience. Service is always prompt, food is always cooked correctly, drinks are mixed right, and everything is delicious. I have to give 5 stars for the salmon. I don't know, but this is my favorite salmon. Maybe it's the spicy, maybe it's the cucumber salad to compliment.... regardless, it's wonderful. They can accommodate a large group easily, they are fast, friendly, and the food is all quite good (not just the salmon). All my kids really like this place, and so do I. Casual, dimly lit, and well spaced so you don't have to pay attention to the next table! I agree with the one review about the over-use of such words as "perfect" and "great", but what ever, it's not a really big deal and makes me laugh a little at the poor wait-staffs expense in the worst circumstance. Went for dinner last night. Our waiter was super nice and informative. All of his recommendations were on point. For appetizer, we had the shrimp embargo; delicious!!! I had the grilled porkchops; they were amazing! My boyfriend ordered the chicken piccata; it was ok, a little on the salty side. At the end of the night, our waiter gave us some info on some great bars to go to since we were from out of town. He was very entertaining. I forgot his name but he was Asian. Charleston's has been around for ages, and while I haven't been there in awhile, I used to go practically every week with my family. I remember their baked potato soup being great, and just about everything else we used to order never failed to satisfy. They also do a full ar (as far as I know) which is cool if you're in to that kind of thing. The really neat thing about Charleston's, in my opinion, is the LOW lighting. I really like that it's cosy and makes you feel like you're in a cave, albeit a really nice cave with some lighting, but still! To me, that's just really cool and intimate. Would be a great romantic date restaurant. But, also great for a casual meal with the fam, like I said. Definitely check this one out! Especially since it's local and everything else around it seems to be CHAIN central. Not that that's always bad... Just saying. read more

The super Kale salad is the best Kale salad I've ever had and top 5 on all time best salads. They have a nice bar area inside. One of the downsides is their drink prices. I prefer bottom shelf drink prices to be under $8. The chicken wings are really small also and they don't have them all the time. The waitresses were nice. I have eaten here before and it was really good, but this time when I ordered the chicken fried steak it was a little plastic tasting, literally I found a knot of plastic wrap under my steak.
