    Grilled Salmon Salad
    Sel Z.

Charidise is a Taiwanese fusion restaurant located on the quaint Baldwin Street, walking distance from Chinatown. The building hosts 2 restaurants: Taisho Japanese Grill on the main floor (where you can do AYCE grill-your-own food), and Charidise on the second floor (offers dine-in, a la carte menu). Ordering is done online through your phone by scanning a QR code that they give you (tied to your table number). You can customize most main dishes with extra vegetables, extra corn, extra sauces, etc. Charidise's menu comprises of eclectic fusion dishes from Taiwan and Japan, such as yakiniku don sets, Japanese curry rice and noodles, poke bowls, takoyaki, salads, etc. There are also fusion dishes with Western and Mexican twists, such as burgers, poutine, and Mexican tacos with sushi fillings (raw salmon, spicy salmon, spicy crab). Charidise is also known for their bubble tea selection. Service was fast and efficient. Food came out within 5 minutes of submitting our order through mobile phone (and the server came to our table right away with a print-out of our order list as a confirmation). I LOVED the Curry Vegetables Rice here - delicious Japanese curry flavour without being spicy at all, and it consisted of mixed vegetables (broccoli, bok choy, green bell pepper, carrot, potato). Every main dish / bowl came with soft-boiled egg (the kind that you get with ramen). The Grilled Salmon Salad was also pretty good - came with 4 thin slices of salmon that's perfectly grilled to a well-done consistency. The Grilled Seafood Rice was just so-and-so. The shrimps and vegetables (mostly broccoli) were good, but the squid was too chewy and rubbery (perhaps overcooked). We got lots of extra corn and broccoli as sides. I liked that the vegetables still crisp and fresh - not overcooked at all.

Japanese BBQ on Baldwin. Back in the day many moons ago this location used to be Johns Italian Cafe. The sign says Charidise but it is also known as Taisho? When we arrived it wasn't that busy but reservations are highly recommended! Menu is a QR code but someone will come around to take your order. Really good selection of starters, meats etc. Unlike some places that have packages where different items are in each price package, this place has 1 price and everything is included from duck to lamb to kalbi cuts of meat. Upon sitting you are told you have 2 hours with last call at the 90 minute mark. Service was attentive and food came quickly. Good experience.

i was searching on Uber when i saw their ad for BOGO on this dish so i decided to try it. It came in a sealed warm aluminum container. Food was ok,i was expecting bigger cuts of meat as shown on their menu but instead they were minced. Maybe next time mention it on the description

Outdated photos of the menu and therefore prices are higher and portions are low. Popcorn chicken is 6 pieces for $12 when the photo on their website has bite sizes maybe 10-15. When we inquired about the pictures, we were told 'the menu just changed' except google has the same food pictures from other reviewers from 1 year back so clearly 'the menu didn't just change' We asked to speak with the manager and the server hide from us. When the manager showed up 29 min later, said he couldn't take it off our bill because he didn't have authority but would give us 6 additional pieces of batter. But that was 30 minutes after they bought our bill and told us it's last fall cause the kitchen was closing! So many things weren't adding up. The place might look pretty much everything else was trash. It was dead for a Thursday night which explains the reason why . I ordered the spicy salmon and for $20, need to remind myself to cook at home and save money. My rice was al dente and not sushi rice? The bowl was practically empty. Big old bowl small a portion. And they have the audacity to say 'we changed our menu' Then change the damn photos of your menu and what you are actually offering.

Happy Asian Pacific islander heritage month I decided to celebrate by trying some new foods from local restaurants I've never had Taiwanese food before so this was exciting I visited on a Friday evening and it was 7:45 p.m. there was one person waiting for food no line the cashier wasn't very helpful and suggesting anything but they were patient as I decided the food didn't take too long to be prepared. The front of the store opens up wide so a lot of air circulates even though you're inside you're kind of outside if that makes sense I went with the beef Taiwanese noodle soup and the pork and vegetable dumplings the packaging was really well I drove over to fort York park and the soup was still really hot and the steam dumplings were still hot The steamed dumplings were delicious however I didn't care for the dipping sauce that it came with it was a little too liquidy for me and ran right off the dumpling after dipping it so it didn't really add any flavor to the dumpling I love that they package the noodles and the soup separately to my surprise this soup was super favorable and it was a unique taste that I've never tasted before the meat the beef was tender easy to chew. I also enjoyed the nice crunch of the bok choy that came with the noodles they were lightly steamed perfectly and it help to balance the tenderness of the beef the one thing that fell short for me was the noodles I don't know if this is how the noodles usually are or if because of takeout it changed the noodles but they were stuck together I didn't even try to use my chopsticks because I was struggling with my fork if I take up one noodle the whole clump comes up and the noodles were also on the chewy side

MEH. Everything is just pretty average. Portion... average. Taste... average. Above average on that salt level though - YIKES. The presentation and packaging are quite nice and neat though.

Decided to give this a try and took advantage of their BOGO deals on ubereats on top of a 30% off overall bill coupon I had(must order $50 worth). Did pick up since I was around the area. Ordered the BOGO Taiwanese minced pork on rice, BOGO spaghetti and meatballs, BOGO fried fish cakes, popcorn chicken and osmanthus rice dessert with the chewy balls. Packaging and presentation looked clean and neat as usual. Taiwanese miced pork was way too salty for my preference. I liked the spaghetti and beef meat balls and the popcorn chicken. Dessert with the osmanthus was a great way to end the meal. Fishcakes were alright and nothing special. Managed to get the bill to $50.93 so after the 30% it came to around $42 cad after tax imo it was pretty worth it as it would have been around $90ish after tax if I were to order from Ritual

Location/Service This place is on Baldwin St, close to Sick Kids hospital area. It's not hard to miss cause it's pretty massive with an outdoor patio on the ground floor and on the second floor at the back. So many seatings available for any group size (and I think there's a VIP room too). Love the interior where it gives off a very cozy cafe/laid back vibe. The lightning brings out the ambience very well and there's bar seating, table seating or sofa seating available to choose. Staff were friendly and nice, helpful with menu items when we were ordering. Food The menu and placing orders is by the front entrance. They give you a pager once it's ready by the kitchen area. Came by here while on a break, so ordered a few snacks and drinks to try. The popcorn chicken was good - crispy and crunchy, while the meat was still available arm and tender. The Sakura squid balls were above average, done to the right level that's still chewy and flavourful. Didn't try the drinks, so couldn't common much. But feedback was good, liked the variety of options they have This place is awesome for date nights or studying sessions. Definitely would come back to really try an actual meal and their drinks.

It's a very spacious and cozy restaurant with wonderful food options and nice music. Has a work cafe atmosphere on a not so busy day. I only gave it four stars because there's a few fruit flies that won't leave me alone(I dined inside)! Nothing a little yellow sticky insect paper can't fix though... Will come again :)

Located in Downtown Toronto & BarrieThis gourmet Taiwanese restaurant strongly emphasizes Taiwanese street food with a wide menu of food, snacks and beverages. We ordered their Taiwanese sausage, Classic Poutine, Taiwanese Minced Pork Rice and the Hawaii Poke. For their beverages we ordered their Peach Lemon Green Tea, Iced Honey Green Tea and the Charidise Milk Black Tea. The Taiwanese Sausage came with sliced garlic, and was very tasty! The Classic Poutine was covered with gravy and super cheesy. We really enjoyed their snack menu items. The Taiwanese Minced Pork Rice came with a pickled radish, sliced egg and broccoli on the side. We found the minced pork a little bit mushy with the rice, but it still tasted good. The Hawaii Poke came with seaweed salad, avocado, corn, edamame, kimchi radish, beats, seaweed, and onions. We found that the poke didn't really have any sauce, and that their wasn't a lot of the poke meat. All the beverages were very refreshing! We liked how they were not too sweet and lightly iced. We enjoyed our experience here with their outdoor patio! We recommend visiting this spot for snack and beverages as we liked those the most. 7/10

I enjoyed the chicken teriyaki pasta bowl! Iced fresh fruit tea was also really refreshing. The crispy chicken poutine is also decent, great portion size, $11. The drinks are standard price but maybe slightly on the pricier side. Really love the interior and they have great seating for doing work in the back!

Apparently Toronto has quite a vibrant Taiwanese food scene! Some friends visiting from NYC were quite desperate to get their Taiwanese food fix in before the went back so we went to Charidise. I was not expecting much from the place because of the reviews on Yelp, but I was very very pleasantly surprised. First things first, I am Taiwanese, born and raised, so I have definitely had these dishes in Taiwan before. My standards for these dishes weren't high since Charidise is obviously in Toronto, not Taiwan, and I don't think it's really going for "authentic." Charidise is laid out as more of a "cafe-style" food (the concept of 簡餐 in Taiwan). The drinks are good and the food is decent. If I'm really being honest, it's way better than Kanpai. The view on the second floor of Charidise is amazing (view on the CN Tower!) and I would definitely recommend the place for people looking for a simple lunch.

    Teriyaki chicken on spaghetti

Came by to find food after hanging out around downtown. As I am not one that ventures to this part of downtown a lot, so I decided to try this place out. The interior is very modern and clean. When I got into the entrance, there are 4 tablets for ordering. I have to say, the user interface wasn't too intuitive. Took some time and I finally figured out. After I place my order, I went to the cashier to pay for my order and I was given a pager. Not long after my drink and food came. The drink tasted not bad and not overly sweet. The food I ordered was the teriyaki chicken on spaghetti. The spaghetti wasn't bad? I wish it was bit more on the al dente side. The chicken was made nicely, however I was expecting a teriyaki sauce. (given the name teriyaki chicken, or maybe I have been to too many Asian places that dumps a lot of "sauce" onto the chicken. haha!) Anyhow, this place is a good hangout as they got a sun room that's quite cool. Also the front opens up to Baldwin St, so nice and breezy day like this is spot on.
