Fish Fillet
Matthew H.

April 18, 2025 - I got the fish fillet. It came with 2 pieces of fish fillet, an egg, some greens, rice, and sauce. Very traditional Taiwanese comfort food. Nothing special, but enough to satisfy a craving.

Located at Langham Square where sometimes finding parking might be challenging. I don't usually come here as I find the food and drinks pretty pricey. I came here with a friend and ordered a Talwanese Crispy Chlcken w/ Green Tea Noodle Soup. I thought they would have separated the crispy chicken on a plate but instead they had put it with the soup noodles which made it no longer crispy. I wasn't really impressed. I don't think I would order this again if I was to come back. If I do I would try to remember to ask them to separate the chicken.

Food 3/5 Service 3/5 Vibe 4/5 This is a bubble tea spot that also offers lunch, dinner and snacks. Overall my experience was kinda mehhh which is frustrating coz i used to love this spot... 1. It took a while for us to order, since they were busy so im like sure that okay. 2. After we ordered, the first thing that came was my noodles, which is fine. (Obvy i kinda wanted the snacks to come first but sure). After like 8 -10 mins the snacks came (keep in mind i haven't touched my noodles since i wanted to wait for everyone's food to arrive). And we waiting a little bit more and nothing, so we were like lets eat the snacks, but my other 2 friends didn't have any plate/bowl to eat with as their mains havent arrived, so we asked for plates ( which is fine but already kinda annoyed) 3. Another 20 mins past, and 1 main arrives. (Keep in mind, still haven't touch my noodles). And another 10 mins came, and the last main arrived. And yes by this time my noodle is soggy - i know some people would be like u could have ate first, but u no, i was taught this way, table manner. I know they are busy, but this is just an overall meh experience for me dont think ill come back.

Mango slush

The OG bubble tea place with authentic Taiwanese food items on their menu. Pretty busy on a late afternoon weekend after lunch hours. However, we were seated quickly after the host kindly asked another customer to move tables to push tables together (we had 6 people). Mango slush with tapioca 5/5 - The best drink on their menu imo. I always come to Ten Ren's Tea and get this because it's that good and no other place can make it better than them! Popcorn chicken rice with marinated egg 5/5 - Another great Taiwanese dish that is such a staple and this place does it well! I loved that it came with a marinated egg in the meal (added one additional egg since I was sharing) and some pickled vegetables on the side. The minced meat also pairs so well with the white rice - a must get! I love this place. It always hits the spot and is always so consistent!

Taiwanese Sausage & Minced Pork

Authentic Taiwanese food and bubble tea spot! Came here for a quick lunch and ordered the Taiwanese Sausage and Minced Pork rice bowl. Really decent size for one person and good amount of toppings. This location is smaller than their Richmond Hill location but still decent amount of seating. Service was good but one star taken off as they didn't serve us water/tea until we asked after we placed our order.

The food is amazing here. My favourite is the lamb chops. They're seasoned with cumin and pepper just right on a bed of caramelized onions. The meat is juicy and meaty! :) their shrimp cakes were great too, but it's a little pricey at $10+ for 3 pieces. The minced pork rice is my family's favourite. The sausage is savory instead of sweet! I also love their hot teas (the tea pot ones). Did you know you can get free refills? Amazing. The staff are very nice, especially Winnie. She's patient and knows the restaurant well to answer our questions about the VIP program. She's also thoughtful and remembers our preferences. Ambience is casual chic. It's good for a third date onwards. Trendy look with some cute lights on top that aren't too bright. It's perfect for meeting up with friends or for a quick bite.

My nieces were over, so I decided to get us some bubble tea. Never been to this location before and haven't had Ten Rens in a while since there are a lot of bubble tea locations to choose from in the Markham area. Only time I go to Ten Rens is if I'm at Yorkdale mall. They are consistently good. Every. Time. Ordered thru Uber eats, and we got a mango slush, matcha slush with red bean and jasmine green tea with passion fruit jelly. I was pretty impressed that the slushy was still slushy by the time it got to me. Taste wise, was okay. Ten rens mango slush is always a hit, but not this one. More watered down and pale yellow. The matcha slush with red bean not as creamy as it used to be. The jasmine green tea had barely any tea taste. I'll stick to the Ten Ren at Yorkdale mall.

Came with a group of 5 people on a Saturday night. We got seated immediately, the place was half full of people. We ordered 3 drinks, shaved ice- Hokkaido and popcorn chicken. They originally messed up our order as we wanted matcha green tea ice cream on top of the shaved ice not just vanilla. But the manager was super nice and provided such great service. He brought over the matcha green tea ice cream and green tea shaved ice for no extra charge. I recommend the green tea shaved ice as it had more taste than the Hokkaido option. The food overall the taste was decent but there's better shaved ice and popcorn chicken out there! The bubble tea was decent as well. Nothing special but it's a nice big place for friends to gather so will definitely be back! And the service was great!

They don't serve Caucasian's. My daughter and I sat for 15 mins and no one came to serve us. Horrible customer service. We got up and left.

Good Morning - Taiwan Sausage Rice Roll

Good Morning

The restaurant was pretty small, so you'll need to go to the common space to eat. There are about 4 tables on the second floor in the common area but there are benches throughout the mall for you to sit at. I was the first one there to order the rice rolls and no one was around, however she forgot my order. But I do appreciate the quick turnaround when she realized that she forgot my order.

To get to this store: take the escalators to the 2nd floor, turn left and go all the way to the end of the hall, turn right and go all the way down. It is the 3rd last store on the left side. Ambiance: 4/5. It is a 1 person store. The owner has another store across but it's really just a storage unit. She's usually deep within the store making food so you'll have to wait to catch her attention. There is a large menu outside along with 3 breakfast combos near the cash register. I missed those because I wasn't looking up. Service: 3.75/5 - we were the first one to order. More people came after us. She told us 10 minutes so we walked around while we waited. When we got back, there were more waiting but she gave an order to someone that ordered well after us. After we spoke with her, she realized she forgot our order. It took another 10-15 minutes to make. Food: 4.5/5 - we ordered the traditional rice roll ($8) with soy milk ($3). On first glance, it looked small. It has some weight to it and it felt very hot. When you bite into it, it's warm. There is a very crispy fried dough fritter in the middle. It also came with preserved/picked vegetables and a Tawianese sausage. Definitely don't unroll the cling film wrap all the way or it'll be an even messier eat. I liked that there was a lot of filling and the rice around it was a thin layer. It is small but mighty! I'm surprisingly full from it. The soy milk is fine, it tastes unsweetened. Overall: 4/5 - I don't mind coming back and trying the other options (more varieties of rice rolls, appetizers, desserts, baos). I just hope she doesn't forget our order next time.

Not a big fan of Taiwanese cuisine but this place ain't too shabby…read more Exceptional service! Courteous and fast. Food was alright. We had pork hock, fried chicken bits, egg-yolk sauced chicken wings and this $25 set meal with noodles and soup - amongst other food items. Fairly priced and quite spacious dining area. Apparently this is a very famous restaurant in Taiwan so it's great that we can try it here in Toronto! My Taiwanese friend did the ordering as she was familiar with the popular dishes to try. She ordered two lunch specials. One lunch set was a little pricier for about $25 but if you pay cash there is 10% off on this item. This lunch set was really worth it as this combo included 6 side dishes, a main dish with a soup or milk tea...and for the main dish, you could choose Danmi noodles or Minced pork rice and we picked the noodles since we got the Pork Hock & Minced pork rice for our 2nd lunch set. The two of us shared all the items except my friend insisted that I have the marinated abalone side dish and this was so good! I will definitely be coming back because of this dish! I also liked the Danmi noodles and Pork Hock. Although the food was amazing but the service was lacking. It wasn't busy when we got there just before noon on a Wednesday and we had to wave the staff for help several times and the staff didn't even take our order correctly as we had asked for two tea and they only brought one. I will still be back as the food was really good and I love Taiwanese food!

I love their friendly service, efficiency, delicious food and their great value. They have a la carte items on the menu, and also set meal deals. I personally ally love their side dishes the most. A Taiwanese snack/bento place have popped up inside the King Square Shopping mall (It's located…read morealong the same side as VeryGood Congee and Fried a Chicken or the public washroom). Its name is Xin Yi Snack. I find their restaurant name rather odd considering Taiwanese people would rarely use pinyin for their English name or simplified Chinese in their Chinese name. It's takeout only and you can tell that they are somewhat emulating the Tai Ping Hsiang business model. However, food wise, it's of lesser quality then the aforementioned. Value wise, it's there. For $10 or so, you get a choice of meat; I chose the Taiwanese braised pork. And you also get a choice of two sides; I opted for fried egg plants and potatoes. The value is there, but the quality is just..ok. In these times of inflation, you can't really complain about the portion or the price. But, I've had better Taiwanese bentos. The braised pork had soy flavour and definitely star anise, but it's lacking a bit in other spices. A slightly thicker sauce and the use of dark soy would definitely help with the compatibility with the rice and presentation. Same issues apply to the egg that came with the meal. The sides were ok. But I think they could have marinated the eggplants more to minimize that weird tingly feeling that you get from eating 'under treated' eggplants. I also thought the potato could use a bit more sugar and/or salt. Rice was on the slightly hard side. If you are hungry and seeking value, Xin Yi Time can be an option for you. But, just don't be too picky.
