Charbono'is part of a local restaurant group called the Cunningham group. All of their restaurants are top notch, and I had a fantastic meal at Charbono's tonight! I went in on a Saturday night about 7:00 with no reservations, the place was very busy but they were still able to find me a table. It's prom night here so it was full of high school seniors all dolled up in their fancy outfits. Was actually kind of fun to watch. I was soon met by my server Calvin, who was attentive and did a fantastic job. He was very busy but he did not let that impact his smile or his service! I ordered their chicken marsala. It comes with mashed potatoes but because of dietary restrictions I frequently avoid white potatoes so I asked them to substitute their creamed brussel sprouts and that turned out to be a great choice! My dinner salad was just superb! Ice cold, loaded with all kinds of goodies, served promptly. Dinner came out a few minutes later piping hot and presented very well! The chicken was laying on top of the creamed brussel sprouts for an excellent presentation. One of the most important things to me when I review a restaurant is I want the hot food hot and the cold food cold and they were spot on tonight. Chicken Marsala had loads of mushrooms and was very very tasty. My total bill was $28 not counting tax. I think it's a good value for the money. I was searching for a place to celebrate our anniversary and found out Charbonos and we made a reservation as it was a Friday evening and this place was full. There is ample of parking spots in the front of the restaurant. The place is pretty big and have ample of seating available inside. Once you will enter the restaurant there is waiting area on the right of the reception and some seatings on the left side. There are tables and booth to choose from and we got a booth in my opinion the booths are little cramped so if I will go next time I will choose the table to sir and also preferably choose the seating in the back of the restaurant as where we were seated there is a open workarea for the staff but in my opinion that's a eye soar to me personally, it should be covered in someway as it was taking away the overall premium feel of the place. Now let's come to the service and food which was excellent, our server was very friendly and the chef did an amazing job and the food was amazing. We ordered chicken velvet soup to start with and Burrata for appetizers, they also serve the fresh bread which is one of the best bread I have had in a while. In main course we ordered steak frites and rigatoni which was cooked with perfection and a must try if you visit this place. Had a family event at Charbonos tonight. It was the first time I have been here and was pleasantly surprised. The decor was warm and friendly and the service was fantastic. They were 10 of us with two babies, so it was a handful! I think that we ordered everything on the menu amongst us all. I had the salmon and gnocchi, and though it was delicious, it was very salty. I think the beef medallions and the steak would be my recommendation! Added bonus...it was my birthday and they gave me a free dessert. That was sweet. All in all a very nice evening is! read more

We were blown away at how amazing this restaurant was! We ordered calamari, a house salad, chicken Marsala, chicken parm, and carrot cake. Everything was so delicious and fresh tasting. The dining area feels a bit like being in a hotel lobby but I still enjoyed the ambiance and feel of the restaurant. It appeared clean overall. Kelsey was our waitress and she did an absolutely superb job! I appreciate the efforts of an excellent server as it really seals the deal on whether or not I'll visit a place again. Kelsey did not disappoint! I've driven past this restaurant so many times and had been intrigued as to what it was all about. I think it's an odd location for a fin(er) dining establishment but I'm very happy we took the plunge to give it a try. However, some small points: Waiters and waitresses wear black cotton t shirts. I think a button down top would be much more suiting for this type of dining. I like to be comfortable at work too, so I'm not going to knock them too hard for this. The drink menu needed cleaned. A menu is touched by everyone so a slightly dirty menu can be a little off putting. In the hostess area, there were three very young ladies. We got there a little earlier, 4pm so I think they were kinda just hanging out before getting busy. It just gave me a slightly unprofessional vibe. I think the hostess area could use a small amount of guidance. One of the young ladies did great. But the other young ladies could do a better job greeting the customer. Came here for my birthday dinner! We had calamari for an app, which was excellent. For my entree I had filet medallions and lobster risotto which was not spectacular as I had expected but still very good though. And for dessert, I had tiramisu which was excellent. I called a week in advance to make a reservation for 12 people. The evening of they called to make sure we were still coming in and I let them know that we be a little late in our party had changed from 12 to 8 people. We arrived at 8 o'clock for 745 reservation. I understand that we were late however we were made to wait almost 30 minutes before we received our table. They said it was because we were late that we had to wait. Which doesn't really make sense, if they knew we were coming at 7:45 they should've been prepared for us when we came at eight. Nevertheless, they said the bartender was double booked because we were late. Which again doesn't make sense because why would a bartender be our server. When the waitress came to our table, she told us that we need to hurry up and make a decision because the restaurant closed at nine. It was 830. We felt rushed and felt the staff was rude. We were the last to leave at 9:30 on Thursday night. Just not the experience that we were looking for. We will probably not go again. read more

We received a gift card and decided to give Charbono's a try as we had never been here before. We went for lunch and it was not super busy. The restaurant was nicely decorated and clean. We were seated right away and our waitress took our drink order quickly. We both had the French onion soup which was hot and very tasty. The bring you a small loaf of bread with oil to dip it in. The bread was nice and warm and the oil seems to have a tomato base and is also tasty. I ordered the Linguine Charbono and my husband ordered the Chicago Beef sandwich which is like a French dip in presentation. The linguine was very good. The lunch portion is a smaller portion but it is plenty considering we devoured the loaf of bread and the soup beforehand! My husband enjoyed his sandwich and fries. Our waitress was friendly and quick. It is a little pricier than your typical lunch but it is also more high scale than your average lunch spot. Everything we ate was fantastic. Bread was warm. My passion Paloma was delicious and strong. My sisters mushroom ravioli was very good. I really enjoyed the snapper and risotto. Everyone enjoyed their steaks. My dad enjoyed his ribs (the special). The broccolini (side) was spicy for my nephew, and we all agreed with him, but none of us are big fans of red pepper flakes. But it was all very tasty. However the service was horrendously slow. And downright awful at times. It took asking three times to even get bread. We were there for 2 hours and we ate very quickly (because we were starving since we'd been waiting for over an hour). Drink refills took forever. Our waiter was a very nice guy, but he seemed to only be capable of focusing on one table at a time and he had several. We saw other staff covering for him at alllllll his other tables, he focused on one table throughout the night, and we got ignored. We legit saw him check on that one table five times without checking on us once. And we were right by a drink station or something where all the waiters kept walking right by us. It should've been impossible to ignore us as much as he did. It was ridiculous. There was discussion about just leaving, which is not something my family has ever done. As we were there for two hours, the crowd started thinning and our service got better, but it was too little, too late. I think it'll be very hard to get us back in there, which is sad because the food really is good. But I don't know wtf that service is. My family and I love Cunningham restaurants and we were excited to try an Italian one. The food was okay, though. It was honestly comparable to Olive Garden in atmosphere. The taste was okay but nothing special in my opinion. I will say they cooked my steak perfectly, though so I appreciated that. Our waitress was kind but the service was a bit slow both for getting alcoholic beverages and the food. We went on a Wednesday and the restaurant wasn't busy at all so maybe they were understaffed. From the outside Carbonos is a restaurant that blends into the Kroger strip mall in Avon. It sits on the corner of 267 and Rockville Road (US 36). They have a large parking area and huge pots of beautiful flowers by the entryway. The restaurant is attractive with low lighting, stone and dark wood throughout. As you enter a tall, soothing water fountain is located in the center of the dining area. Seating is comfortable with 4 top tables and booths. The ambience is nice for a romantic dinner for two or a family dinner. Don't overlook the cozy bar area. The bar is large with ample bar stools, booths and tall top tables. We usually request a booth in the cozy bar area. The menu carries everything from soup, salads, sandwiches, appetizers, seafood, pasta, chicken, and even pizza. A few years ago we had quiet, romantic dinner in the main dining area. The steak was cooked perfectly for my husband and I loved the scallops. We usually come here for lunch since its smaller portions and cheaper than dinner. Lunch is served Monday thru Saturday from 11:00 - 4:00. Our servers have been knowledgeable, friendly and prompt. The only wait we've encountered was on hot bread from the oven. I've found any of the seafood appetizers are excellent and fresh. It's just a matter of your personal taste. One of the Lunch Specials is a half sandwich and soup. I tried the Half Roasted Turkey sandwich served on brioche bread and chicken velvet soup. The sandwich was good as far as Turkey sandwiches go. The Chicken Velvet soup was thick and rich and I did enjoy. It isn't the Chicken Velvet Soup of the olden days at L.S. Ayres but still yummy. The French Onion Soup and hamburger is solid as well. My favorite go-to entree is the Linguini Charbonos with shrimp, large scallops, crab, spinach, and roasted red peppers in a lovely, rich cream sauce. They are generous with the sauces with a nice ratio between seafood, sauce and the perfectly cooked pastas. Also available on the lunch menu and perfect portion size. My husband enjoys the Spaghetti and Meatballs and the effort taken to produce a homemade flavor Marinara sauce. The tender meatballs are a mixture of veal and pork then served over spaghetti. The warm, crusty bread served with oil is my downfall. Butter available upon request if you're not into the oils. Carbonos has excellent food, good service, great atmosphere with a touch higher prices than some of the competition. I'm happy to pay a couple extra dollars for my Linguini Carbonos but it would be refreshing if they lowered some of the prices a tad. Give Carbonos a try! read more

I visited Charbonos with 15 co-workers after an all-day meeting. Our local manager arranged dinner here for our group and we were instantly greeted and taken to our table upon arrival. The decor and lighting is very warm - a much different impression than its outside within the strip mall center. If you are a bourbon drinker, I highly recommend the Wordford Old Fashioned. Multiple people were eyeballing my drink and asking for a sip. So of course I had to order a second! We were served complimentary and delicious bread. The dipping sauce was already on the table and it was unique - seemed to have a splash of hot sauce in the oil and pepper. I started with the wedge salad but switched my dressing to ranch. I do wish that I had requested no red onion. It was so finely chopped that I couldn't easily put it to the side. My salad was amazing! And truly, my favorite part of the meal. For dinner I order the 6 oz filet. Not much of a red meat eater I ordered it medium well; however, when it came out it was barely medium. Our server did take it back to throw it on the grill for more cooking time. It was average. Certainly not worth its price. I also felt the same about the selection of sides. I wanted mashed potatoes but their version contains garlic so I got the sweet potato fries. They were good and I received a large portion. I do think that I'd been happy to skip the filet and end on a high note with my bourbon, bread and salad. read more

I had been to Stone Creek, so I knew what to expect of the food, yet I had not been here. The pictures looked wonderful, and, since I kuve in Avon I chose it for my Valentine's Dinner reservation with plans to propose to my girlfriend when getting pictures afterward. The food and service was spot on. My disappointment came from the booths, tables, and noise level. We were first seated in a booth in the bar. We were not asked if that is okay, and it sure is not okay with us. We don't drink, and don't want to be where that is the focal activity. And, those booths are so tight that our bodies were tightly pressed against the table. Four more inches between the banquets would have been fine. I went back to the hostess stand to ask to be moved. We were offered a high top in the corner of the bar, and, when I said no (and told her I was proposing after dinner), I was given a choice of a booth or a table in the main dining area. I chose a table, and was asked if a certain table was okay. I should have said no, bit in the end I don't think it would have mattered because of noise level. We were right beside the path where all of the servers come out. The wooden tables and chairs used to be fine, but have seen much better days. My chair was rickety and worn-looking, and the stain color looked drab for upscale dining. I give Charbono's five stars for food and service, but I can only give three stars for atmosphere, and that is because of the overall decor. Find a way to enlarge booth space, upgrade the tables and chairs, and attenuate the noise, and I will be happy to visit again. Otherwise I will always choose Stone Creek. read more

I've eaten here about 3-4 times and like the menu diversity and for the most part the servers. But this last time, for Valentine's Day, I was disappointed by the dish that was presented as cod fish with asparagus and potatoes. At a stretch, the piece of cod was 1/2" thick which included the nutty crust being 1/4". The 4 pieces of asparagus was tough and stringy. Very little fish to crust ratio. Were they running out of this dish and trying to stretch the servings? Looking back we should've just sent it back for the price we paid. read more

How's this place stay in business. I lived in Avon over 20 yrs. I have given this 4 chances in 20 yrs. I'm done. Got a pork chop once that taste like shoe leather- all dried out. Bread was hard as a rock. Thought I 'd give it 1 more chance. Got chic Parmesan. Hardly any sauce on it. The pasta looked white - there was so little sauce. Chicken wasn't even on the bone. Taste like frozen chicken patties that u would buy at WALMART. DRied out and tasteless. Again, taste like shoe leather. Dish was just bland. Over 20 bucks for basically white spaghetti/ with barely any sauce and dried out old frozen looking patty. Never again. Food sucks there. Mad I wasted my time. Oh! Absolutely delicious and such a fun experience. This restaurant is located in an unassuming strip mall but is a hidden gem! Our server Elizabeth was kind, attentive and informative. We started with wine and soups! You have to try the velvet chicken and French onion they were both incredible and didn't need any extra seasoning. The bread and oil served at the table was so fresh and the oil had heat and a sour element due to jalapeño and sun dried tomato. My date got the chicken parmigiana which was pounded flat like schnitzel and crispy. I got the chicken Marsala and couldn't stop eating. I've given this place three tries now and I just can't get over their slowness and service. Last time we were there the steaks got sent back 2 tines and never came out right, we complained and the server never reappeared to our table after we complained. Instead he he stride behind the service wall and decided to talk badly about ya like we couldn't hear him?? . We had to track down another server for drinks and our checks. I went back in and talked to Ryan and he told me if we give them another try he'd like us to ask for him and he'd take care of dinner for the issues. So fast forward to tonight, we asked for Ryan as i was told to do, apparently he wasn't working but the GM was there. The gm came over and introduced himself and I told him what happened, his reply was he's off but we will take care of you tonight. Not even I'm. Sorry about your last experience. our server was pretty good, things were good until a server who knew me from the past came up to talk to me and started being inappropriate with his language infront if my wife and children and our other guests. I tried to let it go. My wife, not so much. We moved onto ordering, it took 30 minutes for simple salad and French onion soup to come out then another 25 for entrees... so at this point we are there over an hour and still no entree. Seriously? There were 5 tables with people at them. And when it came to getting the check. Yup still charged for full price for everything. So much for making things right. My family has been coming to this place for years. Heck, my mother was a waitress here for a long time. This place has always been a solid restaurant to eat and is in the perfect area to get to easily. Their waiters and waitresses are also nice and helpful. Their food always been consistent, however we have experienced issues with some different food items such as their crab cakes. Their soup's of the day are always great, and their steaks are usually cooked perfectly to a certain degree. My favorite item to get on the menu is the Chicago Beef sandwich. Definitely a place to go to as their prices are solid and the food is often great. read more

Second time eating here, both times food has been excellent and great service! We ordered the spinach & artichoke dip for the appetizer which is really good! Then 8 oz. filet mignon's with sides of baked potatoes and Parmesan risotto. Excellent food every time we go and always very courteous waiters/waitress. Even Management stops by your table to check on you & thank you for coming in. My one and only complaint is now they've switched to paper straws. The straws taste funny and last about one minute.
