Very straightforward place. People were nice and efficient. They gave a pretty busy store but everything was fast moving. Simple concept, hamburgers different sizes and toppings to choose from (lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, pickles, chili, onions, slaw, bacon for a little extra and mustard, ketchup or mayonnaise: with or without fries and drinks, chicken nuggets, chicken sandwiches (grilled or fried or spicy fried), these red hotdogs with toppings and a bbq sandwich. We ordered the 1/2 pound burger with lettuce, mayo, tomatoes pickles for me and he got his with cheese, lettuce tomato and pickles with fries and a drink. Also tried the nuggets. Watching them make the burger me over the flames was nice with their glass walls into the kitchen! The only thing that would have made these more amazing was seasoning! I tried something different & ordered the grill cheese, the photo on the drive thru board shows two pieces of white bread, grilled and cut in half. In reality it was made with two bun bottoms and looked nothing like advertised. The 7 year employee and manager insisted she knew what the photo looked like and this was the proper sandwich. ‍ There is no reasoning with that but she did offer to refund me. I had heard all I needed to and declined. I would have been ok if anyone was willing to admit we are selling you something totally different than advertised. Buyer Beware. read more

Chivalry is not dead ! I drove threw the drive thru and ordered a bottled water for my overheated dog after our walk by the nearby park. I got the $3.18 exact change. Surprisingly. Tried handing it to the drive thru attendant, he says no it's all good. I said you sure ? He goes yeah it's good. A free cold water. Although simple a gesture, Meaningful and memorable. I'd not been to a Char Grill before so after my shopping trip to Harris Teeter it seemed like a good day to stop. I went to the drive thru which looking back might not have been the best idea as I wasn't familiar with the menu but thankfully the menu was small and I could order quickly. I went with the double and made a combo. I customized it to have tomatoes and lettuce with the cheese. They were generous with the toppings but the tomato slices weren't ripe so that is my only disappointment here. The burger was delicious and the fries were some of the best I ever had. Somehow those fries stayed hot the whole drive home too. The prices are more expensive than other places but when you are looking for something a little better than typical fast food this is your place. The service was very friendly and my order was prepared as ordered. The sanitation score was high too so that is important to me. read more

My wife and I stopped by for dinner. We both had the 6 oz. burger with fries. The fries are outstanding, some of the best I have had. The burgers were tasty and done just right. I went through the drive-thru and the person working it seemed like they really didn't want to be there. The food was mediocre at best. Didn't taste like the other Char-Grills. Brand spanking new! Bringing some local burgers to WF! Staff was so kind and thoughtful. Speed will pick up over time of course but we thoroughly enjoyed ourself. Inside seating or drive thru option! I really like when new restaurants open near my house so when I found out that Char Grill had just opened here in Wake Forest I had to go. I believe this is a chain and I haven't eaten in any of the other locations so I didn't really know what to expect. I have to say that this is probably one of the worst burger joints I've ever tried. I decided to ordered the recommend 1/2 pound with fries. I asked to put everything on it .... very disappointing ! For starters the slaw was kinda sour and the chili had a strange taste. So I decided to try the burger pattie by itself, it was pretty tasteless. On top of that the fries seemed as if they were fried on some super old oil giving them a weird taste. Price was not even that cheap, the combo was about 10 bucks. I also ordered a cheeseburger for my daughter and she didn't like it either. Wait time was average. I am not coming back. Try the Chinese place or the Jamaican restaurant in the same shopping center instead. read more

Not sure why this place has bad reviews..... I just had the best burger I've had in I can't tell you how long! Not sure what people expect as it is a fast food restaurant, but this being my first time there I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Not only that, I told the girl at the drive-through window that it was my first time and she told me that she put a little something in my bag for me. I opened it up and it was a $10 gift certificate. She was so sweet and did not have to be so kind. Hospitality like this goes a long way in my book! Stopped by Char Grill tonight. Huge line at the drive thru but it went fast. It was a great indulgence for the family. 1/2 pound and 1/4 pound burgers were great. The fries were nice and crispy. We splurged with shakes and apple pies. So definitely a place to splurge and cheat on your healthy diet. But very tasty! read more

Enjoying CharGrill from the NC State days, you think you would be excited to have one near your home. But, No...not even close. The CG in Wake Forest is a complete disappointment. You're not getting a freshly cooked burger off the flame grill. No, you're getting a burger served out of a pan being held in a warming unit. Just like McDonald's and Burger King. But, you get the privilege of paying twice the rate for a lukewarm burger where the cheese doesn't even melt. I loved the in store person taking the order instead of writing your order on a pad of paper. Beautiful restaurant! Was able to get all the condiments I needed and even had hot sauce. Cashier even asked a couple time while we were eating if everything was up to par. I live in North Raleigh but tried this location because it was new. I was not a huge Char Grill fan before but this location changed my mind. Would be happy to drive an extra 15 minutes to visit again. Highly recommend. read more

I love Char Grill and was excited to see one open in Wake Forest. I tried it yesterday. The menu seems different than the other walk up locations. I order two burgers and two orders of fries. I probably sat in line 20 minutes to get my order. When I finally got to the window, I paid and the person handed me the bag. I had a feeling I should have checked it before I drove away but didn't because I was ready to get out of there. I drove off and checked the bag and was missing one of the fries. I let it go because I had already spent enough time waiting on my order. It is a shame because this location is close to me. I will probably not go back to this location. The walk up locations seem to have the quality and process down much better than this location. I would suggest to the manager to encourage the employees working the drive thru to leave their iphones in a locker or in their pocket. read more

Very disappointed. We have so few restaurants out our way so was excited when this was going in. Been there twice and both times disappointing. Burger had little to no mayo or ketchup. French fries were dry. Order a BLT which looked great on the menu. What I got was three quarter sized pieces of lettuce three half slices of tomato and what looked like one slice of bacon cut up, and cheese. Who puts cheese on a blt? A woman manager took care of this issue and went above and beyond. She was very friendly and attentive, also empathetic to my situation. Another manager, a bald gentleman wasnt nearly as friendly and actualy was a bit short when I asked about an item in my order. Stopped by today for the first time. While the food was okay it was very obvious that no one was on dining room detail. Tables were dirty, drink machine area needed wiping down,floor was a mess. With all the glass windows it's really easy to see behind the cook line. Maybe the cooks should be reminded of this. Hello, Tonight I visited the newest location of the Char-grill franchise at 1300 Capital Blvd in Raleigh, North Carolina. My check number was 40219, for reference. I was highly unsatisfied and very disappointed with the new location of the restaurant. For years, I have eaten at various Char-grill locations and have never had an experience like that of tonight. First the line hardly moved with one car's order holding everyone up for about 20 minutes. In my experience when working a drive-thru I would have pulled the car up while the cooks were making their order. This was not done. Instead we waited and waited. While we waited, we watched a girl who worked the register eating food and laughing with a male employee. This matters to me, because it is a sanitation issue and also was poor customer service when greeting a paying customer. Finally we received our order after about 25 minutes sitting in a drive-thru. The char-burgers were poorly assembled and the buns were burnt. I expect that when I order a burger from any restaurant that I won't have to go home and change the bun of the sandwiches. Tonight I was highly disappointed with one of my favorite restaurants. I will not recommend Char-Grill any longer, or at least not this location. -Elizabeth read more
