I just ordered the special which was something called the "Beef Rachel". I also ordered a side of fries. Overall, the food was tasty and good. They have lots of room inside with big TVs. Okay this was so yummy! I loved this place front the clean/cool restaurant front with picnic tables and televisions. The menu seemed simple enough but it's actually pretty creative. We settled on the hot open faced turkey and the guy themed sandwich. The hot turkey was excellent; moist and tasty! The sandwich was ok loved the corned beef. I was craving a pit beef sandwich and Chaps never disappoints. I got it medium rare and it was perfect. Topped with thinly sliced onions and horsey sauce, you can't ask for a better sandwich. Be warned, the burgers are HUGE. Like at least 8 Oz. My daughter couldn't even eat half of it. It was delicious though and they cooked it medium rare just like she asked them. The fries are really good here and I'd definitely recommend that over the potato salad. Chaps is a Maryland tradition and I'm glad to see them expanding to new areas of the state. read more

Good charcoal flavor, I ordered my meat rare, came out medium rare. Fine. Also followed recommendations and ordered it on a french roll. Huge sandwich. Fries were really good and a giant portion. Tons of free sauces and condiments. I loaded mine up with thin onion, dill pickle chips and the house bbq sauce. Just wasn't crazy about this place. Had ribs that weren't fall off the bone. Fries were cooked too long and a bit soggy. The sauce wasn't exceptional. A Rubin sandwich that had no Swiss cheese and corned beef that was sliced too thin and seemed like processed lunch meat. We are in Baltimore occasionally and won't stop again. Listen, this comment isn't about the food it's about the staff -- Husband and I decided on Chaps last night for dinner. I was ready and wasn't going to settle for anything else ! Lol While Walking in at first we were slightly confused and you can tell something happened - on a mid rush hour Friday night during dinner hours. You can tell staff was literally figuring it out on a fly ! While patiently waiting in line we have come to realized that their systems unexpectedly crashed no electronic system no monitors no registers no credit cards none of it ! and as inconvenient it obviously was on behalf of the staff- I tell you what- I have never been so impressed and at ease with the unity that the staff had !! not only did they keep up with the wait with customers being hungry and confused - hand writing orders and verbally communicating all our preferences and how we want our food to be- they worked together! You saw partnership you come thinking outside the box you saw customer service ! You saw a staff literally figuring it out while still trying to be patient with inpatient customers. Husband and I waited about 15-20mins for our food- and we ate outside- while things were slightly chaotic you saw staff still cleaning up the dining area and made an effort to take care of it all. Obviously FOOD was delicious! And now serving beer has literally sealed the deal for me. Lol I want people to know that working with customers in a service providing industry we have all dealt with a few Karen's and Karl's -- and it can be overwhelming but frustrating at times - I admired that the staff decided to worked together and chose to not let the overwhelming moment break partnership and team work ! Chaps Pit Beef is absolutely delicious. The meat is cooked to perfection, tender, juicy, and so flavorful! This location is about 15 minutes from Aberdeen Proving Ground and is situated in a little shopping center near some other small food chains, but if you are in the area you should definitely visit Chaps. I ordered the classic pit beef sandwich with sides of coleslaw and Mac & cheese. I ordered small sides, but you can also order them in the large size (which I would recommend if you have an appetite, the small portion lives up to its name). I also tried their Chaps sauce on my sandwich, which has a great Smokey barbecue flavor to it. They have plenty of sauces to choose from though, so your options are not limited. As far as ambiance, this place is equatable to a Five Guys. Nicer than your typical fast food joint, but not as nice as a sit down restaurant. There are picnic tables inside and outside. read more

Amazing. Definitely representing Baltimore's specialty of pit beef but in a much less sketchy neighborhood than their other locations. We tried the beef, turkey, and Ruben--all were good. The meat is succulent and tender, they give ample toppings, and everything is tasty. I definitely recommend getting the horseradish sauce, and their pickles are wonderful. Fries are great also. One con--depending on who is manning the meat slicer, you may get more or less salty meat. The reason is some of the workers clear off the slicer between servings, which leaves you with the proper amount of seasoning. If they don't clear off the slicer between servings, you end up with the leftover rub from previous slices that can make it overly salty. read more
