Have passed by Sam's a few times and finally stopped in for lunch. They are takeout/pickup only. Steady traffic and calls around 12 on a Thursday. A small spot with enough room for an ordering area, deli/salad case and a couple of beverage coolers. We wanted to try some of the sandwiches so their sub specials (Large Sub and 2 small subs) were perfect. Ordered a Large (huge and enough for two) Cheesesteak-stuffed with shaved steak and tasty-would recommend extra cheese to balance out. A small Hot Corned Beef with added Swiss cheese. We liked it -again stuffed with tasty/salty Corned Beef. Small Italian Cold Cut Sub included Mortadella and was very good. For sides, the fries were good but we enjoyed the potato salad the most. Super friendly service at the counter as well upbeat vibe in the kitchen. They have a great selection of sandwiches, salads and soups. Sam's is a great local sub shop and I'll keep the 5 stars because the neighborhood needs places like Sam's. Especially with a new wawa next door taking business I'm sure. Italian sub - the quality of the meat and cheese is great. I just wish there was a little more of them. I get it -- costs and all that. But it is the only bad remark. Different cheesesteak #1116 in the last five years. I got a cheesesteak and since I was in Maryland I got a Crab cake hoagie. The cheesesteak was good for Maryland. The roll was mediocre and the meat was a little dry. The crab cake hoagie was amazing. It was over $20 and I still liked it. You know it had to be good. I talked to a guy from Baltimore. He drove 45 minutes every 2 weeks to get a cheesesteak. I realize now it was a missed opportunity to ask him how their Crab Cake compared to other MD places. Dear Sam's Deli, please consider making a surf and turf cheesesteak. Steak, crab cake and cheese in a roll. The surf and turf may be a touch dry. Hey, decent cheesesteak right here in Harford County. If you're from the greater Baltimore area, you'll appreciate the massive amount if meat packed into this steak. It checks all of the cheesesteak boxes. If you're a Philly cheesesteak aficionado, then this is more of a cheesesteak hoagie which means a messy, heavy sandwich packed with tons of chopped steak (not the best quality but...) your choice of cheese (no whiz) and any toppings you want. Not much but shiesty business practice. Cheesesteak had way too much salt and the texture of the meat was weird. Cold cut meat slices were way too thick and didn't taste like anything. Stopped in a couple weeks ago after passing by several times over the past year. Finally decided to give it a try. When I stepped out of the car, the first thing I noticed was the scent of grilled onions in the air. I figured that could be a good sign of things to come. I was hoping there would be some seats inside, but it's a small setup, so I saw only a couple drink coolers and chips, and the view beyond that was blocked by some other patrons waiting for their food. The staff was friendly and ordering was easy (limited menu). Whenever I try a new sandwich place, Chicken Parmesan is my usual go-to as my litmus test...and I was happy to see they had it in both fried and grilled options. I got the grilled with some lettuce and onions, 8" sub for about $11 I believe. It was a bit chilly out, so I chose to eat in the car (parked, of course). Gotta tell ya, it was a bit messy but it was also tasty and filling. I'm glad I only got the "half" size. I also realized the onion smell was no longer limited to the vents they were pumping out. I didn't want to risk the car smelling like them for the next couple days, so I didn't keep the trash in the car. Too late. The smell lingered for a week (and also in my hair until I showered that night. I'm pretty sure when I returned from my lunch break, I probably smelled like a sweaty gym locker!) Overall, it's worth a visit, but next time, I'll need to skip the onions and order ahead to limit my time inside. read more

I don't eat beef but the pieces were large enough to remove (but I shouldn't have to). In addition, I asked for green pepper and the pieces were humongous! Way too big. I usually get food for lunch every other week or so from Sam's. The food is always fresh and the service is always smiling. The only 'problem' is because of the COVID restrictions they are only allowing 2 people in the area at a time. Not a problem if you go in and pay to wait your turn outside but people tend to wait for their food slowing the flow for the others waiting outside. WoW what a gem of a place to get Cheesesteaks!! I waited with much anticipation to finally try one. I drove here from Bel Air because one of my friends said they had Awesome Cheesesteaks here. And let me tell you they sure did. The bun was awesome and fresh and the 12 inch bun was packed with some tasty meat and big enough to feed two people. I got the steak with mushrooms, onions and Swiss Cheese and everything else but tomatoes. They had a quality staff and worked well as a team. Last weekend, my husband stopped by and ordered 2 cheesesteak specials. When he got home they had given him 2 CHICKEN cheesesteak specials. After looking at it, we thought, lets give it a try. Gross!!! So, he called the store, told them they gave us the wrong order. They asked if he wanted to come back in and exchange. He politely said no, its too far right now. Ok, no problem. Either Jerry or Terry took his name and number. Said they would be glad to honor the order next time he came in. They were going to put his info on the back wall. Just let the manager know when you come in. He went in yesterday and before he ordered he told them who he was and what was told to him just the week before. They said, OH NO, you should have brought it back in that day and we would have given you a new one?!?!? That was a $42 order that was disgusting, because we do not like chicken cheesesteak, and then to not honor that was like asking how far can you bend over. Stopped by for a chicken cheesesteak and fries and man did I mistakenly order the large portions - I didn't but after eating my fries (french fries are my favorite food) then i could only eat one quarter of my sub.
