Cheesesteak in a bowl and crab dip
Becca H.

Updated review 10.28.2022. I have ordered from here more times than I'd like to admit and I've truly fallen in love with the food. I've never had anything that I didn't enjoy. But tonight, I decided to treat myself to a cheat day and got their baklava cheesecake. Y'all. This is the best cheesecake I've ever had in my life. I mean it is literally the best of both desserts in one. Perfect about of sweetness, nice creamy cheesecake, flaky top phyllo layer, just absolute perfection. I have a feeling it will be my go to cheat meal lol.

The pizza is very satisfying. We stopped here driving back to NYC so it was really random. The service was slow but the pizza was delicious. It is a good place to stop. We got the veggie pizza and were very pleased. It was a big pie and we had some slices left over to take on the go.

Here is a twenty dollar extra large

Here is a twenty dollar extra large turnover. This used to be my favorite stop when I'm edgewood and I always order the same thing. Now It seems this has become thier xl turnover. It's about a half or third what used to be called the same thing. It is so sad when a great places goes this far down hill

Avocado salad was great, box of fried stuff was standard. Picked up so minimal interaction with counter staff, decent meal.

The counter person was very pleasant. My wife had a delicious breakfast sandwich of bacon egg and cheese on a brioche bun. She said the bacon cooked well and the brioche bun just soft enough. A winner. I had the French toast, three fluffy, sweet flavored slices of brioche bread with powdered sugars. It came with butter and syrup in the side, the syrup tasted maple real. The bacon crisp, five or six slices! My better half also purchase some other delectable, but would telll me what it is. I'm sure it's yummy. Recommended!

They had a few tables to sit, eat, relax at. The market has an opening to the bar at Pairings. I didn't ask when I picked up my cookie and scone but I wonder if I could have had it warmed up...hmm a question for next time I'm back, I suppose! And FYI: those pastries?! Yes, so much yes. The ratio of cookie to chocolate chip is highly respectable. Dare I say 50/50?! Even slightly skewed for chocolate??!? And the scone. It was actually a scone. And done well. Have you ever bought a scone and it was really a muffin in disguise? Or some sort of a croissant in another life? Well, this was a scone. Legit scone. Not too dense, not too light. Crumbly without falling apart or being too flakey. Good flavor. Bravo, scone, bravo!

Last summer, we tried a few of the other places that were mentioned in various You Tube videos. We loved the crab cakes in all of them, and now we have to include Box Hill Pizzeria. Because we're in a pizzeria, we have to get a pizza. It was fine overall, despite not having spinach as a topping. To conclude, we haven't been here in years so it was great to revisit. We also hope to return again on another future visit to Harford County.

Worth the Drive for a Solid, Colossal Maryland Crab Cake…read more After seeing a news feature online spotlighting their colossal crab cakes, I put Box Hill on the bucket list. Having lived in Maryland for years, I've become quite the crab cake connoisseur, and my wife being a Maryland native was all in to make the trek. It was quite a drive up to Abingdon, but definitely worth the trip. We waited maybe 7 to 10 minutes to be seated, which was nothing on a busy day. Once at our booth, service was fast and super pleasant. One cool touch is their self-serve soda and beverage dispenser, cups are right there, and you can grab your own refills of sodas and water without ever waiting on a server. The Colossal Crab Cakes are generous in size, packed with good lump crabmeat, and light on filler. Is it the single greatest crab cake I've ever had in my life? No. But if this was someone's first introduction to an authentic Maryland crab cake, they would be blown away. It's high quality, fresh, and consistent. My wife noted the seasoning in the binder had a slightly distinct flavor profile from what she usually expects, but we both cleaned our plates and enjoyed them thoroughly. The Greek Salad came with my platter, and the portion was massive. We split the single salad between the two of us, and it felt like eating two full-sized side salads. Fresh greens and great dressing. The French Fries were Hot, golden, and crispy on the outside with a soft, pillowy interior. Generous portion that paired great with the cakes. A very strong 4-star experience (bordering on 4.5). They have their system down to a science. Whenever we find ourselves back up in Harford County and craving a reliable, colossal crab cake, Box Hill is an easy pick, and next time, I'm trying the pizza.

They do a healthy carryout business. The menu is loaded with goodness. Everything sounded like something you'd love to sample. The young man at the register could not have been more helpful and told us what the most popular item was... the cheesesteak sub. He said his personal favorite was the MD Crab Grilled Cheese. It has a blend of 4 cheeses, lump crab meat, and Old Bay Aioli. I knew I had to try it. They are generous with the crabmeat! I got it with a mixed whole grain bread. Out of this world delicious. I could only finish half. In the past, I have had versions of this that were greasy, not so with this 1. My husband opted for the large size Mobtown Classic sub. It was enormous, well stuffed. And when they say well stuffed, they mean it in the truest sense of the word. The sub roll was nice and fresh. He had them brown it, so it would be less wet. Half of that went home. All in all, it was delightful. Really good food and plenty to enjoy later. Dine in is limited, only 3 tables. Cold Coke beverages are available. We will be back.
