This was a weekday visit, and we came here on the recommendation of a friend. They highly praised the cheesesteak, so we had to try it for ourselves. What I can say is that it is a very impressive one, fresh bread and loaded with meat, cheese on top, and also added in green peppers, no skimping here. A true delight. This was the full-size sub where half comes home with you. On top of this, we had 2 slices of pepperoni/mushroom pizza on a thin crust. Hot and fresh, very filling. Another very good find. How it works here for eat-in, is you order and pay at the counter, and they bring it out to you when ready. There are 2 chalkboards, 1 outside and 1 inside, letting customers know the specials. They have chilled wines, beer, and soft drinks available, along with a few desserts. Free refills. The interaction between the workers and owner (Sal) is a show in itself. We caught Sal in action, making pizza crusts from dough. You could tell he takes pride in his work. The dining room is basic, chairs and tables, not many frills except a few pictures of Italy. And only 1 TV, a welcome change from walls littered with sports TV. The customers really enjoy the salads and garlic knots, from what we noticed. I love to look at what other customers order. Been here a few times now for lunch, and never disappointed. There's a large overhead display for the menu and you order at the counter. They'll bring it out to you, and you can leave your dirty dishes at the table or stack them in a bus tub when they have it out. I've ordered their Chicken parm twice now. It is good, and even a "small" is 2 servings. When I've gone in groups, my lunch mates have ordered crab cakes (great reviews), Cheeseburger (mouthwatering), and individual pizza slices (choose from the ones displayed at the counter). My most recent order was baked ziti/penne, and it took me three servings to eat all of it. There was a lot of ricotta mixed in, and it was so good and creamy, and the dish itself was very flavorful. I went there because it was right beside the nail salon I frequent. I ordered my food - a pizza & wings. I provided my name for the order because the cashier asked. Several people came in after me who did not place orders online but as I was sitting waiting for my food. They were given numbers for their order. Everyone that came in after me received their food. They prepare the food pretty much in front of you. There's a glass window where you can view the pizza's & ovens. The cashier would periodically remind the cooks of the orders citing only the number of the order but when it would come to my order, instead of an order number she would say my name. After more than 25 minutes passed, the cashier came over & asked what my order was, I restated my order. I was literally the last person who left with my food. I thought to myself if this isn't racial profiling I don't know what is! The pizza & wings were at best a 2 out of 5. It was more than I wanted to spend but thought I would give it a chance because I heard good things about it. I will not be back. read more

TV menus that change and showcase deals, options and prices. They had tons of options, pizza, pasta, subs, calzones, soups, salad, appetizers. I had to get the white pizza with broccoli, tomato and ricotta! My favorite and many places fo not have it fresh and ready. They warmed up my slice and brought it to me. My family moved from an army base in Germany out to Edgewood Arsenal when I was nine and Fortunato brothers (Sal's) has the last of the test of time with the same old fashion touch that I remember as a child. I used to always come up and get slices and used to like watching the guys behind the counter make the dough and toss it. The employees here have been here as long as I've been coming here has been a stable in the community for over 30 years. When my daughter was born in 05 I couldn't wait for her to get old enough to be able to start taking her with me. She would come every Friday and enjoy talking with Sal when he was here every day. So make sure to get into the restaurant I'd say as often as he can if he's not coming every day, but the quality of his food has only improved as he has adjusted his ingredients so that he's providing his customers with fresh ingredients, fresh herbs, wild catches, and now is Using, sir Lance a lot a high gluten flower never bleached never bromated this reduces the risk for type two diabetes or complications. Digestive issues reduces inflammation of the gut and cardiovascular disease which if you are seeing a cardiologist, I'm sure he's mentioned that it's not a good idea to be eating the bread anymore. My husband and I travel frequently along Interstate 95. Maryland House has mediocre, overpriced fast food, and there is a limit to how much Wawa one can intake. La Tolteca next to the Wawa has mediocre food, great cocktails, and super slow service last time we were there. So after scouring Google maps and cross-referencing Yelp, we decided to try Fortunato Bros. (Sal's) to get a decent hot meal, and did we ever! We ordered a chef's salad with house dressing and a large spinach and mushroom calzone. The chef's salad is huge, a bed of crisp iceberg lettuce, perfume-y black olives, slivers of red onion, fresh slices of ripe tomatoes and cucumbers, all topped with beautiful rolls of sliced salumi (spiced ham, Genoa salami, etc.) and cheese. The house vinaigrette was bright, but not overpowering. The two garlic knots that accompanied it were yeasty, malty, olive oily, garlicky perfection (and the first thing to draw my eye when I walked in). The calzone was made fresh right in front of our eyes. It was a sight to behold. Fresh leaves of baby spinach were entombed in ricotta, mozz, and freshly proofed dough and immediately sent to the oven to be fire-kissed. Served with a generous cup of well-balanced savory sweet marinara, the piping hot calzone really hit the spot. We definitely had leftovers. Despite being located in a strip mall that had long since lost its anchor store, it felt like walking into any old school pizza parlor in Brooklyn. The smell of freshly baking dough, malted and toasted, caresses your nose as soon as you walk in. We will be making this our regular lunch stop during our road trips. Before I begin - let me say that this might not be the restaurant's fault. It could very well be Door Dash's fault. I got a pizza and a steak sub. The pizza was fine, no complaints. The reason this review isn't one star is because the spinach on the pizza was actually really well done - not just a burned leaf here and there. The "Steak Sub," on the other hand was so gross I about gagged when I bit into in and got a mouth full of mayonnaise. I went back to the menu on Door Dash and did not see anything about standard condiments. (I had to make sure I didn't make a mistake) I checked the store's website and alas! There was the mayonnaise. Nothing but respect for this place. Hardworking folks that take a great deal of pride in their food. If you're military, this place is about as military friendly as it gets. The owner is always asking how things are going and when he's the one serving you, he gets your plate as high as he can get it with salad or pasta. I try to come here whenever I can. I was on a road trip when my brother-in-law said there is a really good pizza place (he lives in the area, I do not). Wow, just Wow...some of the best pizza I have ever had! My brother-in-law says it's the best New York style of Pizza out of New York City. I can't attest to that, I have never been to NYC. But it some of the greatest pizza that I can remember having, at least as long as I can remember. The owner who is also the head cook is from Italy, so you get the full Italian experience. The owner and the staff are some of the most friendly people you find. They make you feel like a regular of the restaurant the first time you walk in their. I know the next time I am in Maryland, I will find any excuse to visit this little pizza shop.
