Staff helps you get seated as you are waiting in line. This is one of my favorite places to take anyone visiting me from out of town. It's cozy, cute and the food and baked goods are amazing! FAMILIES WITH KIDDOS: No changing table in the bathrooms, just a heads up! Wish they added one since a lot of families with young kiddos often come. PARKING: Free in the plaza it's located. CHICKEN FRY STEAK and EGGS: Huge portion, but definitely satisfies the savory craving for me! Comes with 2 eggs cooked to your preference and choice of potatoes or hashbrowns. CLUB SANDWICH: Huge portion as well! I could never finish this, but enjoy sharing this with someone. Comes with 3 slices of bread (one in the middle). CHAPS SCRAMBLE: My favorite scramble that comes with everything-bacon, sausage, ham, cheese, and eggs with half an order of biscuits, gravy, and potatoes or hashbrowns. Delicious food, in a beautiful, well decorated building with a very hard working and efficient staff! It's hard to say enough good things about this place! Everything is great! Wifey and I have been here twice in the last couple of weeks. Both times the food was amazing. Portion sizes are more than we could eat. We should have shared one item but the food is so good we didn't want to limit our experience. We did share a cinnamon roll last week and blackberry lemon scone this week as appetizers. Both were SOOOO GOOOD!!! I think that if I had to choose one I would go with the scone again, yum! It was delicate and soft on the inside with a crispy exterior covered with the perfectly sweet glaze! Wifey had the special Salmon Benedict last week and the garden scramble this week. She liked them both but I think the hash browns with the crispy exterior and soft insides were her favorite item. I had the Chaps Scramble on both visits...that's how good it is! You not only get the scramble with a ton of meat and cheese and hash browns but it also comes with a half order of biscuits and gravy. The biscuits are exquisite but the gravy is steals the show! It has a wonderful constancy with a delicious, creamy taste...yum! I love the experience too. They use a unique order at the counter/seating process where you wait in line looking at all of the freshly baked goods. While you are waiting to order they assign you a table number and by the time you order and get to your table your water is already there waiting for you and just a short time later your food arrives! Also a little different than the normal order at the counter situation is that at Chaps waitstaff continue to check on you throughout your meal. Both times we have been there we have seen the owner working hard in all aspects...hosting, clearing tables and managing the operations. Update to first review in 2021: We are "frequent flyers" at Chaps. We enjoy their atmosphere. It has a country chic/vintage vibe and the outdoor seating is lovely. We've learned to avoid certain times of the day because the lines are so long. Don't get me wrong, if you have a couple hours to spare on the weekends, half that time standing in line, this is the place! The food, my partner and I feel, is generously portioned. It doesn't always come out hot or cooked to order, though. We've been there for dinner service on Friday evenings and really enjoyed their live music. They have one dark haired server who has waited on us several times. She has, on several occasions, seemed very put out (her attitude and actions) if you don't order enough food and drink to make you worthy of her service (and our bill for two is usually between $75-100, so I'm not sure what she expects) To be honest, it spoils the mood. read more

Highly recommended. Make sure to have some pastries! When you enter, you are assigned a table. Then order at the counter. Drip coffee is self serve with free refills. All the staff were very attentive, even says goodbye as well left. Seems like it could be loud, though that could just be the front area. Probably always at least somewhat busy: by 9:30am on Wednesday it was mostly full. Nice area for sitting outside. We shared them huevos rancheros. Not a ton of food, but that enabled us also to share a apple fritter. The huevos was good, a bit heavy on the onions, probably the pico. My boyfriend and I came here on Valentine's Day and had an amazing experience! We came for brunch and i got the French toast and he got the Chaps burger. If you decline, you'll be told to leave the line and wait again for a table. I eventually decided to take my pastries home instead. Unfortunately, even ordering to-go was a hassle. Rather than placing my items in the box immediately, the cashier kept asking, "What else?" as I continued to order. After hearing about Chaps for months, we finally made our way over to Cheney to try it out. We heard about the oatmeal being a must try and you could say we were skeptical at the least. Sunday Morning, 10 am, lined up to the parking lot. 1 hour later. We get seated upstairs at table 30 . There was two other families up there also. They had babies and young kids. Great food! I had the brie and bacon sandwich, which came with fries, and my husband had the Monte Cristo which was paired with hash browns. The table service is half measure; you get in line to order and then they bring the food to your table. We were never checked on the whole time we were there, which would've been great because we were really thirsty and needed more water. If there is a line to order, it goes pretty quickly. My bacon and brie sandwich was off the hook. The cashier told me that I was going to love it and she was right. I asked if I could substitute some salad greens instead of the fries to cut down on some of those coma inducing and Waste line expanding carbs, and I was pointed to a square on the napkin that stated that there are no substitutions. Of course they are happy to sell you and additional salad, I skip that because I was already paying 15 bucks or so for the sandwich. As I said, the sandwich was delicious. My husband loved his Monte Cristo as well. Our objection is that there is so much bread. The rosemary bread that the bacon and Bree was served done was delicious but each slice was about an inch thick. I couldn't even make it through half of a sandwich. So glad I did not order a salad to boot! I had a couple of the fries that came on the side. I believe they're called sidewinder fries. They're very very good, but it's just way too much with that mega bread sandwich. My husband felt the same way. Loved his sandwich, but the bread was so thick and the hashbrowns on the side were nonsensical. He equipped that if he ate everything on his plate he wouldn't be able to drive home. All in all, it's a great bistro. I hope they make some changes to the balance of their menu items, but even if they don't, I will be back. I stumbled upon Chaps Coffee the last time that I was in Spokane two years ago. This year Becky was with me visiting my parents. They live about five minutes away from Chaps. Chaps was the perfect spot and the perfect distance to sneak away to grab a quick beer. Also Yokes market is right next door which doubles Chap's convenience. We made it to Chaps a couple of times to relax and enjoy a couple of pints of Manny's Pale Ale. We really liked Chaps. Becky was disappointed that we didn't have an opportunity to have a meal, the menu looked great. She remembers my ravings about the meatloaf sandwich that I had in 2018. Chaps is a very unique restaurant. It has an old-school farmhouse look and feel to it. A casual rural, woodsy vibe to it. The staff were all extremely friendly as were our fellow diners. Friendly people seems to be a theme in Spokane. I had to dock a star as we were told that due to COVID there was no sitting at the bar. Lovely spot for brunch.. visiting Spokane, so we stopped by on a Sunday mid-day. It was busy!! Like other reviews have noted, pack your patience. We waited in line to order, then were assigned a seat. Unfortunately it was quite warm, and we were seated on the patio in direct sunlight. Most of the tables had umbrellas, but not ours, so this brought the experience down a little bit. The food however, was excellent. I'm always a little skeptical when I eat at restaurants in Spokane, but this place really changed my mind. It's a corner place in a strip all, and it's like a hidden gem. I was a little worried when I arrived, because the line was really long. When I say long, I'm talking easily 40-50 people. I took this as a sign that this place must be good enough for people to wait almost 45 minutes in line to place an order. You order at the counter, you are assigned a number, and then food gets brought out to you. Menus are passed out while you wait, so that way you know what you want by the time you get to the register. It's the same line whether you want food, a pastry, or coffee. My recommendation is to have two separate lines, because I thought to order a chai for the road but didn't want to wait in the line again. I was able to order my meal with gluten free bread. The omelette was cooked perfectly, and I thought the vegetables were cooked perfectly as well. It was a nice size! I enjoyed the potatoes, and there was a lot more hidden under the toast and omelette. I was a little skeptical due to the price, but you definitely get a lot of food for your money.
