I had a shmancy wedding in London to attend and look all over for a fun and sexy dress. I tried all the big name stores and was disappointed. Could not find anything that I loved, maybe because it was the end of summer but the selections seemed very basic. Popped into H&M for some tshirts and saw a beautiful long fabric that caught the corner of my eye but as I looked closer it wasn't much to be excited about. Looked like a winter dress with awkward neck line, closed back, the leg slit was also awkward length but, only about 50$ so decided to grab it and show it to Chantilly Lace to see if they can make magic.... and they did!!! They fixed the front to have a beautiful more flattering neck line, sexy but still very classic. The back was completely cut out to a beautiful shape and the sleeves were secured with a ribbon so i was completely comfortable dancing the night away. It was a completely different dress that look to be an expensive piece from Saks. I picked up the dress the day before my flight and had no back ups so was naturally worried for everything to fit right. But as usual they never disappoint to deliver the perfect result. I wish i had the before picture to post to show the dramatic change between the before and after, but didn't think i was going to end up wearing that thing until Chantilly Lace turned it into "THe dress" I've been looking for. read more

Do you want your tuxedo to be treated like a bath towel by an alteration guy in front of you? This is the store who would treat your formal jacket like that. (After the drama below, the owner later called me through my friend, who referred the store, and apologized and offered that I come back to the store next day and pick up my $500 Jacket with no alteration charge. I accepted his apology and rejected his offer. I will never come back as he had told me to. I decided to post this as a warning to the owner. This should never happen to any customers. Honoring his endeavor of apology, I raised the star from very bottom to 2 stars.) This was a nightmare on my normal busy weekday in the evening. Here's what happened: 1) I went there to pick up my $500 (+tax) jacket, it is considered as ethnic Tuxedo, a formal attire. I bought it for an event on the next day. 2) I was not satisfied with the alteration result. And I told the owner "you did not do anything". 3) Then the owner ("he") got fumed and started screaming "Are you calling me a liar"? He even grabbed the jacket and almost teared it up, then threw it to the floor like a towel. It was mine... at the time. I was furious about the fact that the servicer like him treated customers' belongings that way, imagine it as your formal wear. I probably shouted at him. 4) After that, the owner started calling to the police somehow and kept telling me "you will be in jail. You will be arrested." 5) 2 police officers soon arrived and each talked to the police. 6) He was still bad-mouthing. It was like 30 minutes. I was outside. My jacket was still treated like a towel. 7) I offered, through police, A) I pay $70 and get the jacket back and leave. He refused to consent. 8) It was a waste of time and the jacket was like a worn towel and I totally lost the attachment to the jacket. I offered B) I just leave. He take the jacket. 9) He accepted it and seemed happy. Last thing he told me at the store was, through a policeman, "I can take the jacket. Do not ever come back to my store. Or you will be arrested". And this was through the policeman. O..K.. Who would come back?? And then later calling me for apology and begging for coming back when he got to know who I am? Live with it. I feel very sorry for him being such a human being. Bye-bye. read more

AVOID. AVOID. AVOID. Brought the most expensive suit dress I own that I planned to wear to an out-of-town conference to take in the shoulder/sleeve area. Went to the conference and the cap sleeve ripped open during the important conference and that really sucked. Brought the dress back in to him, understandably, fuming mad about the poor work and got a yelling-lecture about how "honey" it wasn't his fault and I don't know anything about anything. (1) NEVER treat your customer that way, (2) the ripped sleeve speaks for itself, (3) Take your f-ing paternalist, patronizing, chauvinist, misogynist attitude somewhere else - it's 2018. His argument that they actually didn't work on that part of the sleeve and therefor wasn't his fault made ZERO sense. He claims his "associate" who measured me doesn't speak enough english to have said that they worked on that part of the sleeve. Seriously? How about you take some ownership and pride in your craftsmanship and not blame others. (1) I asked you to take in the sleeve, (2) the sleeve ripped, (3) apologize. Not that hard. Will be taking my business somewhere else and would highly recommend you do the same. read more

I ended up getting that dress made. :-) I received excellent customer service and the dress was ready by the deadline. The price was reasonable. Not great for men's tailoring. I took a suit and sport coat for alterations and while the sport coat came back ok, the tailoring on my suit was substandard and needed to be taken to another tailor to be fixed. When I showed up to collect my items on the agreed date, they'd forgotten about the suit and asked me to come back an hour later. My guess is they quickly rushed the job and unfortunately the suit was messed up as a result. Friendly service but quality is too much of a risk to go back. I'll try other tailors in future. read more

Really wanted to love this place, I came in to have a jumpsuit hemmed and everything seemed great. Owner seemed to know what he was doing but when I came back to get the outfit later I made the mistake of not trying it on. When I got home I realized it hadn't been hemmed. Chantilly Lace is a great place to go to get quality alterations done. It is not cheap but for simple alterations I have found that the prices are the same as what I am quoted at a dry cleaners/laundry that does alterations. More complicated and intricate alterations and materials will be costly here but the quality of the alterations is worth it, especially if you are dealing with a nice item that you want done right. The turnaround time is pretty quick and service is always friendly! read more

I came to this tailor with a bridesmaid dress (actually, a jumpsuit) that fit me terribly, and he did an absolutely beautiful job making it fit my body. He really understands how clothing is structured and can look at something and know exactly what needs to be done to it. He does all of his work on a mannequin so the end result is flawless. I recommend that you call the shop to make sure it's open before you go, since it's small and family run, it's possible they closed early or stayed open later than you thought. I got a dress altered here and it was a customer service NIGHTMARE!!! While the work done was good considering they took a size 10 dress and altered it to my size 4 frame, I have to say I will NOT be going back here ever again. The alterations cost me more than the dress but I will always pay up for good work and was really hopeful about this store. Problem 1: they told me my dress would be ready on the 30th which gave them about a week to complete a hem, a shortening of the halter (neck) and taking in the bust area. When I came to get my dress at 1pm I saw it hanging on the hanger the same way I left it a week ago and they told me they were "working on it" and still needed 3 more hours so I had to come back. They had not touched it. I detest liars especially when I'm paying you a lot of money. I was given a sob story about them being down a worker, but if that was the case they had my phone number and could have called to save me the trip! So I come back and try the dress on. Problem #2: the chest was pulling and the darts needed to be taken in a little. I asked if he would do it for no extra charge since I was already inconvenienced and the the gentleman in charge laughed at me. He told me he would give me a "good price". I came to find out later that his "good price" was still 40% inflated. I was so frustrated that I decided to take my dress the way it was and left. Not so fast! Problem #3: "We only take cash" I was told as I was handing over my card. There is no signage or warning when you drop anything off. While I understand that this might be the practice at a few places they should tell you this when you drop your clothing off NOT when you are ready to leave. I had to go next door to an ATM which added another few dollars onto my already ridiculously expensive and annoying experience with these people! Save your money and go to the Fresh Season cleaners on 3rd ave btwn 34th and 35th. They do an incredible job for the RIGHT price! read more

Had a terrible experience here. I needed a bridesmaid dress hemmed and brought it here and they told me a date 10 days away. I thought that was a little long for a hem, but fine, I'll take it. I get there on the day of at around 2pm and they had clearly not even begun working on it. Then the owner is clearly not fazed by this and says, "there's no time on your stub." Exactly if there's no time on my stub, I should assume I can pick it up at any point that date. How else will I know if it's ready?? Frustrated, but fine, I can return after work. The times written on the stub also said that it closes at 830, but I also checked Google and it said 8, so to be safe, I decided I'd be back around 7:50. I get there at 7:50 and they're already closed! This is a bridesmaid dress for a wedding I was flying out to in two days! Luckily I told him I was flying the day after I actually was and was able to come back and pick it up the following day, but under no circumstance should I have to return to a tailor three times to pick up my dress. The work itself was fine, it was a hem, so difficult to mess up. But based on customer service alone I will not be returning here. read more

I will never go back to this place, horrible customer service and terrible quality alterations. It took over a month to get s dress back for a simple hem at the bottom of the dress. When I tried on the dress after having it altered, he left a train on my dress, when I had never requested this, which I brought back to have it fixed. THEN after only ONE wear and after spending 55 dollars on a job I could've done a better myself, the entire hem came out. A. This should not happen after one wear and b. This was the only alteration I had made and it couldn't even hold?! I brought it back to show him and request that he fix this complementary since I only wore it once and clearly it hadn't been done efficiently, and he was rude and argumentative. Customer service and relationships are everything, but apparently not in this situation.....(not to mention I'm a 20-something girl with tons of friends getting married and would've given him a glowing review had he been polite and provided good quality alterations) read more
