I am shocked by the low rating for Changs Garden because it is such a hidden gem in Storrs. Their authentic Chinese menu is fantastic with a wide selection of Sechuan dishes. My favorite dish was the cold sweet potato noodle appetizer, it was too good to even get a picture! Their hot tea is also fantastic and all the food is reasonably priced. The service is fast and the staff is really helpful with picking out dishes based on your spice tolerance and what you're used to.

Wow, I saw a low Yelp rating for my long-time favorite Chinese restaurant and had to review! Tbh I'm not sure what the hater reviewers are talking about and question their taste . Chang's is solid and delicious, everything is like good quality super flavorful Chinese food. Not greasy, not too salty, and fresh. The staff/owners are very friendly and have been in the community for years- they know most of us locals and seem to take a lot of our Uconn students from Asia under their wing. They have both a more American style Chinese menu and an authentic Chinese menu that has been exciting to explore. Chang's Garden is great- set the record straight!

I visited Chang's Garden several times and was pleasantly surprised by the service. Our waiter was very kind and welcoming, and was always attentive to us. I got the pork fried rice which was delicious and others got lo mein. Overall it was a great experience and I definitely recommend for those in the area.

Chang's has the best Chinese food in the Storrs area. There are 2 menus, Americanized and Authentic. Everything is freshly made, portions are great and flavors are amazing! I love their egg drop soup, it come with lotus root and enoki mushrooms in it. Very light in flavor and never glopy (they're light handed on the cornstarch). I've eaten in for lunch, dinner and had take-out. Quality is the same across the board. Portions are smaller for take-out, but that's probably my only minor complaint.

How this place stays in business is beyond me. Food is subpar at best and owners are very rude.

Go to oriental cafe next door instead, this place made me sick, from the food quality to the atmosphere. Wouldn't recommend

I ordered roast pork fried rice and boneless spare ribs. Simple and delicious. I also got the edamame which came plain or possibly lightly salted - either way I put my roasted garlic blend on them at home. They seemed fresh and popped at the right time if you know what I mean. The rice wasn't full of the usual stuff you see in a lot of like foods around here. That stuck out to me. The boneless spare ribs weren't dripping in sauce which was nice. They also were also not dried out the next day for leftovers. I'd say this place is def worthy of the high reviews they've received lately! Seems unassuming from the outside- a bit smoky inside but not the burning smoky- a stir fry smoky!

Designed to be wolfed down over a bed of soft rice. The kind of place I THOUGHT I'd have no trouble finding in New York City, but which my husband and I actually make a special point of ordering from every time I come home to where I grew up. Vegetarian? Get the Szechuan bean curd. It's pillowy fried tofu in a spicy sauce, accompanied by all kinds of steamed vegetables. Their General Tso's tofu is generally the same thing, but no vegetables. I wish they had scallion pancakes, because I know they would kill those too. The veggie fried rice is great. My mom swears by the hot and sour soup and Mongolian beef. Come to their unassuming storefront with $35, leave with two entrees, two apps, and that sweet feeling that you got exactly what you wanted.
