There is also a very bountiful selection of desserts. Today I went with the maple bacon slices and garlic knots as appetizers and both were delicious. For my mains I picked the baked stuffed shrimp and the prime rib. The prime rib was excellent so I actually went back for seconds. I had a baked potato plus a small salad for sides. The maple bacon was very good and since it is kind of hard to find in restaurants I went ahead and got a couple of more slices of it to top off my dinner. Their dessert bar has so many different offerings that it wasn't easy to decide on what I wanted but I ended up picking a slice of carrot cake along with a brownie plus a dollop of whipped cream to add to the brownie. One of the things I like about their dessert bar is that the servers there give you the option of only getting a half slice of their cakes which is great because that way you're saving room to try even more of their options instead of getting too full from just one thing. It's really the best way to go and you will get to try more of their delicious desserts that way. They have plenty of options here for food and no one ever leaves hungry. We arrived almost an hour earlier than our scheduled reservation but they were nice enough to let us sit down and start dining right away. And we were all hungry when we got there so it was nice that they let us dig in early. We had Josh as a server and he was a pleasure to deal with. He is very attentive and helpful. He even gave my mother some good tips on cracking the lobsters and getting the meat out more easily which was very much appreciated. He was great as far as clearing plates, refilling beverages and making sure we were satisfied with our meals. A very good worker and a skilled waitperson. I stopped into the gift shop after the meal and they had a nice beer glass with their Nordic logo on it as a gift to me for dining with them during my birthday week. The outdoor grounds were nice to hang out and relax for a while before the drive back to Boston. They have benches and hammocks set up plus it was great to see the live animals such as horses and alpacas that they have on the property. I'll try to provide a balanced view, because some aspects of the property are worth a lot more than the three stars I gave it. I'll start with the pluses. The staff is uniformly helpful and gracious. "Good mornings" were freely offered and every server at the various restaurants ( we were there four days) was professional and welcoming. Big props to whoever is managing personnel. This is NOT a small achievement for such a large establishment. I also want to give high marks for cleanliness. There were always workers picking up papers etc who were paying a lot more attention than the average worker to anything out of place. We saw one elderly worker brushing out debris from the escalator. Again, kudos to the management for personnel. Our room was adequate and nicely appointed with a magnificent view of the property. Darkening drapes protected us from the rising sun. Parking valet system was efficient and speedy. Now for the downsides. While only two, they were considerable enough to make me rethink a return trip. They are also the reason for writing this lengthy review for fellow YELPERS. Despite the numerous restaurants, there was not one place to eat simple, healthy food for breakfast or lunch. There was only ONE place to eat breakfast and it had no healthy options (oatmeal,yogurt,fruit). On my first day (waiting for my husband for lunch) I actually had to leave the restaurant because the smell of fried food was impossible to endure. Believe it or not, it was our only choice for a table service restaurant for lunch. Dinner choices were far better but one could starve before then. For this size property, maps should have been available in rooms or, at least, on the website. When choosing a place to dine, one had to call and inquire its location. This is a meaningful flaw when, if staying there on business, time is restricted. A few interactive maps were available in common areas but navigation was impossible from the rooms. This is where most guests would likely do their planning. A simple QR code for guests would solve this problem.
