First and last time ordering here. $30 gives you much more food elsewhere, and better tasting. Their rice is undercooked, not to mention their large fried rice is a medium elsewhere. The boneless spare rib tips are chewy and taste mostly like cartilage, not to mention their small container doesn't even get filled all the way. The mount of meat in the small container is the amount you'd get in a lunch combination plate. Their fried chicken wings have little flavor and aren't equally proportional. 2 of my 4 wings were significantly undersized. They also chop the tips off the larger wings, and I enjoy my tips. That experience and extra meat was taken from me. I typically go to Yang Zi Jiang, and this is exactly why. Rather skip Chinese food altogether next time than to explore other options just because YZJ closes earlier. read more

Nice staff, service was fast. Walked in for take out. Found food average. Probably won't go back. read more

We have taken out food many times. It went down hill about 5 or six years ago. We tried it last year and it was fantastic. Got food there this weekend and it was horrible. Boneless spare ribs were 25% gristle and bone. Teriyaki beef was so tough we couldn't eat it. The onions in the pork fried rice were the tough outer layer and could chew them either. The wonton soup had oil or grease floating on the the top. Won't be back anytime soon. read more

Lunch special is really good. They are on DoorDash and other sites I believe. They delivered the order super fast and it was really hot when I opened the containers. The food is delicious. I really like how they fried the rice and used a brown sauce instead of other spots that use a yellowish one. The chicken broccoli was made similarly and was fantastic. I believe this place is on the list of Chinese takeout spots for me! read more

Ruby Chinese Food - chicken, broccoli, and rice - Chinese Near Me - Manchester, Connecticut

This is by far the best Chinese food I have ever eaten. We drive from Coventry to Manchester for take-out. Their mixed vegetables with garlic sauce is incredible, as is their lo mein and fried rice. Nothing is ever greasy - it's always perfect!!! read more

Wow. What a hidden gem. This place is excellent. I would call this the New York style Chinese, so you can save yourself a trip to China town in New York! The food itself is honestly the second best Chinese i ever had. Can't believe i just now discovered this place. Strongly recommend it. It will most definitely be a go to spot for me going forward. I recommend to all to at least try this place once, and you'll likely make it your main spot too. The service was quick and ready within 10-15 minutes. The inside is your typical looking Chinese takeout joint but clean and organized. Parking was extremely easy and convenient. read more

Menufy online ordering system: I completed your online survey after ordering through your online system for Ruby Chinese in Manchester, CT. I had received an email with a 15% off code. When I processed the checkout there was no field to enter the code. So I gave MENUFY a thumbs down - not Ruby Chinese. After the survey, I received a message that the feedback would NOT be shared with the restaurant. However, when I went in to pick up my order, I was asked about the feedback, because you had published it. Shame on you. This feedback is for MENUFY. MENUFY failed, not Ruby Chinese. Ruby honored the coupon when I picked up my order. I love Ruby Chinese and cross town and pass several other Chinese restaurants in order to go to Ruby. So fix your mistake. Remove the negative feedback from Ruby and apply it to MENUFY, and be assured, I will be copying this request to Ruby Chinese. ANd I will NOT be using either Menufy or HungerRush in the future. read more

As a local, I have always loved Rubys. I always order online and the service is super quick. The general tso's chicken is amazing. Their dinner specials are a good price and come with fried rice and an egg roll. You can substitute rice for lo mein too. We got a free item which was the spring rolls and they are delicious as well. Definitely give it a try! read more

Nice and hot excellent food num#1 service I recommend to everyone in this world.......my family always ask me for this place

Today's order was luke warm. There were baby corns in it when I asked for none, I am not sure what kind of chicken was used in the chicken w/cashews but it looked and tasted just like the skin of the chicken. No longer my go to place for Chinese. read more

Great food as always. The meal was ready when I arrived. The meals were nice and hot. The egg rolls were nice and crispy.

pupu platter was Overcooked, chewy and tasteless! yuke!

Yo! I found a fly in my food. I am so disgusted. I used to be a loyal customer because honestly their food is pretty good, but this is unacceptable. I had a feeling too while eating it I would find a bug and lo and behold. read more

I've been ordering from Ruby for 10+ years. Food always 4 stars or better. Prompt and friendly service and reasonable prices. Disappointed to see so many lousy reviews, but recognize unhappy customers usually more vocal than happy ones. Favorites from Ruby include the hot & sour soup, lo mein, fried rice, General Tso's, Pork with Broccoli and anything with Black Bean Sauce (which they will make for proteins not mentioned on menu). High recommendation for consistently delicious food! read more

Ruby restaurant , I like it very much ! It looks clean , and good service, friendly! I eat vegetables with shrimp, It is delicious! read more

This is our go-to place for Chinese for a few years now. It suffered a lot when it changed hands 3 years ago or so but has improved greatly and has been consistently good for the variety of the different dishes we order. read more

They serve your standard-issue Chinese take-out menu in fact you don't even need to look at the menu, because it is exactly the same as every other Chinese take-out menu in the state (except for the ones in downtown Hartford that also serve an entire selection of Spanish and Puerto Rican foods... weird). The fried wontons contain a weird mystery meat (pork? chicken?), the Hunan Pork and Szechuan Chicken, and Hot & Spicy beef all taste oddly similar, and the lo mein is greasy. However - all of this is OK because when you order Chinese take-out, you do so with the understanding that you are not going to be getting a fine-dining experience. In fact, I expect my Chinese take-out to be a little gross, and I believe it is totally normal to feel the need to shower after eating an order of General Tso's Chicken with a side of pork fried rice. If either of those don't happen, then I feel that something is amiss. read more

Eggroll was really good. Tender, hot, not at all greasy... LoMein was okay. Only issue on that was waaay to salty. Steamed Dumplings were good. Filling was tasty and wrapped was tender, not chewy. Unfortunately, the General Tso combo with H.S. Fried Rice was inedible. Rice was dry and chewy as was the over cooked, dried out chicken. I tried a few bites of each and tossed it out. Will I try them again ? Based on the rolls and Dumplings, maybe. I'd mention going easy on the salt, and I'd go with wok cooked rather than deep fried. But I won't be recommending them unless that is really, really good. read more

I've had better, I've had worse. For what it is, Ruby isn't bad. It's Chinese take out. You're not going to get gourmet cuisine if you order Chinese delivery in Connecticut. They're heavy on the salt (probably MSG despite what their menu says), but it's palatable, the portions are very generous, and it gets the job done when you're hungry. It's drunk food. Plus, they're incredibly fast with delivery. They'll tell you 45 minutes when you order, and be at your door in 20 minutes. It makes you worry about how the get the food ready that fast (probably scooping it from vats of old pre-made food), but like I said... drunk food. Don't order it for the quality: order it for the convenience and quantity. They also have very polite staff who will basically double your portions on your next order if you tip even what most people consider the minimum (15-20%). All in all - it's fast food. Don't expect much. You're not going to expect a Gordon Ramsay burger at McDonald's; don't expect a gastric revolution here. It's generic, but it doesn't taste bad and the service you get is worth sacrificing a little quality when you've had one too many and don't have anything in the house to cook. I'd recommend them. read more

This is why I will always check Yelp before going someplace new! Ordered from this place based on the reviews shown in the google search, which were mostly good (4.2 out of 5). My meal, on the other hand, was NOT good, in any sense. Shrimp and broccoli were overcooked to the point that the broccoli was falling apart. General Tso's chicken was totally soggy, with clear liquid floating in the bottom, and underneath the thin top layer of actual chicken, the rest of the container was steamed veggies (which might have been fine, except that I expect to be paying $10 for actual chicken unless I order chicken AND fill-in-the-blank. I kinda feel as though I was ripped off on that one. Pork egg roll tasted, inexplicably, like reheated frozen fish. Basically, the only thing this place got right was the steamed rice and the fortune cookies. Look elsewhere. There are other Manchester area delivery places that can give you a much better product. I spent $25 hoping to have a few days of leftovers. Instead, I'll be tossing $25 worth of food in the garbage. read more

Consistently good Chinese food. Don't be turned off by the rundown strip mall, the food is really good. We order the Singapore noodles and Hunan chicken religiously. The sauces on the dishes at Ruby are not as thick and heavy as some Chinese restaurants. The veggies in the dishes are also plentiful and fresh. I also like the option of getting brown rice instead of steamed white. Good stuff, have not been disappointed after many visits. Tough to find it, but I found the website: http://www.firstpays.com/fpstaffs/gotoruby/index.php read more

Comes with cooked insects!!!! I wish I could give this place a solid zero star!! I went in purchased a chicken fried rice got home and their weren't any carrots or green vegetables in it. But there was a fly. Cocked and in the center of the rice. I'm never eating here again and I'm going to let all the people I care about know not to eat here. read more

This is one of the best Chinese Restaurants in Manchester! The owners are great people as well!

Food here is consistently delicious! We always order general tsos, chicken and broccoli, crab rangoons and boneless spare ribs. Always arrives hot and delicious. BUT the best part is the delivery man! He is so friendly and enthusiastic and every time I look forward to his call. He is the best!!!! read more

My first experience with Ruby was very good. I ordered the Seafood Special with a pint of pork fried rice. The taste was very good, some of the better Chinese food I've had. The vegetables were crisp and delicious and the Seafood was especially tasty. My only criticism is that there was a bit too much processed crab pieces, advertised as crab. I would recommend Ruby if your in a Chinese food State of mind. read more

Ruby Chinese has usually been pretty good in the past, but this week when we got it, it was not that good. I ordered the General Tso's and it was dry chicken and had no sauce on it whatsoever and my husband ordered the Moo Shoo Pork and said it wasn't good either. I hope they can get it together again and become the Ruby Chinese we once liked! read more

When it's good, it's the best take-out in town. Unfortunately, Ruby tends to be a bit inconsistent. But as long as the rest of the Chinese take-out in Manchester is consistently bad, they still get my vote. read more

The general tso chicken and pork fried rice combo has no flavor very disappointing. Wouldn't order from here again.

The food here is very bland and the hot and sour soup has a strange taste. This place is lousy. Skip it.

The food is good. Better than any other Chinese restaurants in the Manchester area. The delivery is fast. I've only received delivery and have never eaten in the restaurant. read more

I just order from Ruby's today the lunch menu and all I can say is I will never ever ever ever order from them again when I got the general Tso chicken it came out dry and hard couldn't even eat it then the wings was beyond terrible hard and no flavor then I had the chicken noodle soup and that also had no flavor I would never order from them again it was a waste of money and would not do it again read more

I tried Ruby Chinese restaurant for the 1st time last week and there General Tso's Chicken was amazing. Since then I've eaten there 3 more times trying different dishes. All were excellent and I am a total food snob. Definitely go to Ruby Chinese restaurant! Great food, very reasonable prices, and very nice workers. read more

I tried tried this place on a whim. Just moved to the area and needed some dinner for the family. The order was incomplete. The food was mediocre if you are starving. Would definitely search elsewhere. read more

There are many Chinese restaurants in Manchester. but this one is the best. The fried dumplings are my favorite. Never a bad meal, and the staff is very friendly read more

I was skeptical to order from Ruby based on some of these reviews and I probably should have listened and stuck with our usual favorite, Main Wah Kitchen, also located in Manchester. We ordered crab rangoons (chewy and flavorless), Kung pao chicken (also flavorless) and orange chicken (fatty and gave me a stomachache). The only reason this gets two stars and not one is that the online ordering option is great and it arrived 30 minutes earlier than estimated. However, the driver did not speak English and used an unpleasant tone of voice when I told him I did not understand him (over the phone) when he was trying to tell me that he was here and I was trying to direct him (apartment complex). They may not offer delivery but we will definitely be sticking with delicious Main Wah Kitchen instead! read more

having tries almost every other Chinese in town I stand by Ruby's. Although not everything on their menu is amazing the general quality of the dishes is. You can expect the fastest delivery and some of the nicest service in town. If you phone your order for pickup its always ready in 10 minutes or less and they tend to remember your face after a while which in my opinion has a value all its own. The egg drop soup is far above all others in town for freshness and taste read more

We used to love Ruby but tonight we learned it was taken over by new management... and it definitely showed! We had to wait over an hour for a two simple combo meals. On top of waiting we witnessed a pretty good argument between the man behind the counter and the delivery driver. The restaurant seemed that they couldn't keep up with the phone, orders and cooking. The food was awful and no where near what it used to be. read more

Nice stuff. Fast delivery I had the vegetable chow mei fun and sweet sour chicken..both exceeded my expectations and I will be going here for all my Chinese food needs. read more

This is the best Chinese food in Manchester. I love the taste of their pork fried rice, 21 shrimp, fried chicken, general tso and many other popular Chinese dishes. The restaurant is not located in the best location but the place is very clean. The place looks well organized, the employees/owners are always pleasant on the phone and in person. The only thing that I really don't care for is the boneless spare ribs because they are rather dry. Overall this place is a go to place in Manchester. read more
