We've tried almost every Chinese place in Manchester and this remains at the top! We always do take out (since I don't think you can sit in anymore) but the staff is friendly and the food is tasty. We go with the general tso, chicken and broccoli, boneless spare ribs, and steamed dumplings every time and it hasn't been a miss. read more

Ordered through DoorDash and only received half the order. My wife went down to pick up the other half and they don't have it. The staff and owner were completely useless in correcting the issue and told us it's our problem and they'll remake the other half if we pay for it again. Huge mistake giving this place our business, we should have stuck with Jade Garden which is always tried and true. read more

Tasty food and kind lady at the front. Spacious and has dining tables. A bit pricier than other Chinese takeouts- for example, their small pork fried was $6.95 whereas other places charge for $6.50, egg rolls for $1.90 whereas other places charge you for $1.50. You have to ask for the hot sauce, and they give you a just enough hot sauce packets. read more

Been ordering here for many years. Today's house special fried rice had little to no shrimp. Very disappointing. Chicken Egg Fu Yung was good as always. read more

Love 5 star Chinese food, been going for years! Food is delicious and always fresh! Wonderful family is running the place they are part of the community and are very friendly. read more

My family and I have been coming here for years for takeout. The food is always fresh and delicious and very rarely do they make an error.... At least in our experience. The service is quick and courteous as you enter, and the food is always ready fast. It is not a restaurant that you done in at though, takeout only. I highly recommend their Rangoons, dumplings, mei fun, beef or chicken with broccoli, pepper steak, and chicken with garlic sauce. We will continue to give them our business. read more

Oh, they absolutely earned a zero-star rating, but unfortunately, reviews don't go that low. A restaurant that messes up your order and then shrugs off the mistake like it's YOUR problem? That's not just bad service, it's outright disrespect. I Ordered food and 1/2 my order was missing. Drove to the restaurant and they would not give me a refund nor make the order while I waited. They just kept telling me it was not their problem. They took my money, failed to deliver, and then refused to correct their mistake. That's not a business, that's a scam with a kitchen. Hope you never have to deal with this level of incompetence again! FIVE STAR CHINESE MY ASS!! Stay away from this place. read more

Food was just o.k. Soup absolutely horrible. Threw it in the garbage. Won't go back.

I found a long black hair in my food, I was so grossed out, threw it out right away! Called next day after work and they wouldn't give me a refund, wanted to see the food! Said they wear hair nets Owner Questioned why I waited till the next day to call multiple times. I'm a single parent. I ordered the food then I had to go pick up my son at work, I came home at 9 o'clock thats when I found the hair! I should've of had to explain my day to them! I worked all day the next day , that's when I called after work at 330, they just kept questioning, why did I call the next day Instead of apologizing and refunding me the $20 that I spent !! I told him I threw it away right away then after that, he still wanted me to come down and talk to me in person about it! Will never go there again! read more

The food was overall good. Wish they had delivered to our apartment! But the service was fast and the food was done quickly.

Food: good Service: pleasant, fast, picks up phone. Delivery is slow Ambiance/ aesthetics: not for dining. Dine out only read more

They don't deserve any stars. Now under new management. Woman on the phone was rude and wouldn't answer my questions. I've never had another Chinese restaurant charge for homemade mustard. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

Food is good. On line pricing is incorrect so be prepared to pay a lot more! Fix you on line info please and you will be rated higher!

The food is always amazing here even though it's a drive we always pick up to take home never had a problem. Always recommend!

By far the best Chinese Food Restaurant in Manchester. We order from them 1-2times a month and it has never been bad. Super nice people inside and I always leave a tip on the card. As far as Manchester goes, the best. read more

If I could give zero stars I would! I ordered late on a Monday night. By the time I got home and got settled I noticed my food was wrong. They're closed on Tuesday's. I called on a Wednesday explaining the situation. Told the owner I have proof (the menu that they circled with what I was supposed to get, my call log showing I called several times but no one answered just because they were closed, and a time stamped picture with the date in my phone). He told me to bring the food back and he will give me new food.... Why would I have food that I don't want sitting in my fridge for 2 days? I threw it away. He proceeds to call me a liar because he didn't see that I called. Then he switches and tells me he sees my call but I still should have called before they closed because I had enough time.... I don't live close to the place and I have kids. By the time I got settled to take time for myself, that's when I noticed my food was wrong. Regardless I have proof, but the owner wasn't trying to hear it. He kept shouting at me so I hung up. The owner called me BACK just to continue to yell at me and call me a liar! Unprofessional! Keep the money. I hope you lack business from your rudeness and lack of professionalism. read more

This is a pretty solid China option in this area. I am a master of the China food and have frequented many in the land to determine the best of them. For this area this one is currently in my top 3 and i would be delighted to frequent this establishment again. I have tried the general, the egg rolls, spare ribs and chicken with broccoli. All get my high standards of satisfaction. Mention coupon code "Ding Dongs" for an extra 10% off your meal. read more

this establishment has delivered to me in the past. just called in an order and was given a hard time because there was no such address. she said she saw an 8 Ambassador Drive, not an 8A. it's a condo complex with 16 units under the number 8. I asked to speak with someone else and was told she couldn't do that and to call back at another time. personally the food isn't all that good but they're convenientLu located. I'll take my business to Panda King from now on!!! read more

Walked in to suddenly see chef picking his nose, while he pulled his hands away swiftly wipe to his apron, then using same hand to prepare my food, as I stood there and watched him take shrimp from container to skillet without any conscience. Extremely disgusting behavior for me to never eat there again. read more

I'm a tourist in this town for a quick 5 days stay. I absolutely love this Chinese take out restaurant . I believe you can dine in too if you want but I have noticed most people get their take out. I ordered mo goo gai pan and sparerib tips with chicken fried rice. Very satisfied with what I order. The food tastes fresh and delicious. Price is very reasonable(ridiculously cheap) The portion is perfect and I really like the chicken FR , it has the "wokhei' tastes that cantonese people always described . I plan to stop by again before I leave this town. And by the way, the staffs are very friendly which is a plus. read more

See all

I got a lunch special take out. The egg roll was not bad. The General Tso chicken was not the worst I have ever had. The pork fried rice was not good but it comes with the meal. Overall, basic take out Chinese food place and nothing to brag about. read more

The containers are never even close to full and the food is mediocre!! Only go here if you really need to. Otherwise go to jade garden or main wag kitchen!! Five star is really the worst. Also they have very poor customer service. read more

Five Star Chinese Restaurant - They serve a bowl that looks half eaten!! And they do it often. Only go there If they are last resort!! - Chinese Near Me - Manchester, Connecticut

One is too good for what we received tonight, but it wont let you rate zero stars. So, so, so awful! We have ordered from them in the past and they are very inconsistent, but tonight was in-edible! We ordered General Tso's Chicken & Happy Family. They were both super oily, and tasted like fish. The sauces were nothing like what they should taste like, it was terrible. We asked for our $ back & the guy erupted. He came back to the house on our request to take back both orders, but only my took back & refunded us for one. He was very angry and said we are never serving here again.. That's OK, the feeling was mutual. read more

I work at a local business and everyone here orders from this Chinese place. Great food for the most part. What really bother me was that the delivery guy came and said he wanted no tip but a free service , I told him we don't do that here and he got really mad and yelled and drove off. That right there is horrible customer service. So ever since that happened we been getting bad customer service from them. read more

I moved to Manchester from a town 30 min away in 2004. After a year of trying every Chinese restaurant in the area, my wife and I found Five Star to far outrank the competition. Good food, fast service, reasonable price. read more

I ordered food from this place yesterday & there was a HUGE ASS bug in the rice. Then when I called them about it, they refused to refund me my money or even replace my order. DO NOT EAT ANYTHING FROM THIS CHINESE RESTAURANT! read more

Very disappointing, low grade Americanized Chinese food, and it was sadly cheep. Had sweet and sour chicken, just tiny pieces of chicken overly breaded and fried to death. No vegetables, just a platter of breading fried. With sauce on the side, not even good. On the plus side though, the canned Diet Coke was excellent. Stay away. Waist of money could have had better chicken nuggets at McD's. read more

Ive been ordering from here since 2013. Good food. Love their fried rice especially when u add an egg.

Hands down the best, most consistent Chinese food in Manchester! We go every week and are always very pleased. A restaurant that really lives up to it's name! read more

I was sick and needed some won ton soup and pork fried rice - the standard go to. Since United China was closed on Monday, I had my husband pick up an order of each here. Based on reviews, I didn't think it could be that bad. Wrong! The fried rice was so greasy (old oil?) that it upset both our stomachs and we had to take TUMS to feel any sense of relief. The soup was cold, bland and didn't have many won tons. I chalked it up to experience and wasn't going to write a review....until I saw the bill on the C.C. $7+ change!?! For that??? So here's a heads up; it's expensive and left us feeling worse for the ware. There's better out there for sure. read more

We've been customers repeatedly for 9 years and I agree hands down best Chinese food in town. They never disappoint.

Best chinses in Manchester. I order here 2to3x a week. They are useally fast . Best general Tao chicken and the best wonton soup

Writing this to bump this rating from the measly 3-star, 2 year old sole review. To clarify, yes the menu says no MSG but never in my 5 years of ordering have I had a language-barrier experience. Also, even if you do, if you are expecting much more from a Chinese take-out joint, you're a bit delirious. None of the take-out is outstanding in this area and this is the top among the mediocre. They are consistently extremely polite, from ordering to picking up to delivery, very fast, have yet to mess up an order and give free drinks if you order something over $30. read more

Just had the worst experience ever with a delivery smh. Ordered and didn't get anything for an hour and 45 minutes, and didn't get anything at all by 11 when they closed. So I sat and waited for my food and never got it AND was charged! They picked the phone up and said the driver would be there yet never showed. Thanks! read more
