DELICIOUS! This is the best Chinese food I've had in Years. The food is dangerously good--I end up eating way more than I should. My faves so far: -orange chicken: spicy tangy sauce and perfectly crispy -mushu chicken: the pancakes are perfect (very thin, chewy and stretchy, moist and not brittle), and the traditional blend of goodies plus hoisin sauce are all so yummy -veggie lomein: flavorful and saucy (not dry, not too wet either), and the veggies are cut nice and small, which I prefer -chicken in garlic sauce: perfect heat, great flavor, generous portion--very tasty Best of all, EXCELLENT service. Have been eating at Panda Garden since they opened many years ago. Best Chinese food around. The staff is always so courteous and I have never had an order mistake or any issue. I currently live in Boston and make it a priority to pick up Panda Garden on the way back to Boston after visiting family in the area. Not extraordinary, but also not bad. I would rate it 3.5 stars if I could. I do agree with the comments stating that some of the dishes are bland - especially chicken and broccoli. This is not actually a "restaurant," but it has a few tables and a dining room. Order your meal off the typical faded picture menu overhead, or take one of the thousand (literally, I'm not kidding) printed take-out menus laying on the counter. The selling point is the price. The food was quite good, though nothing out of the ordinary for such a place. But when you consider the lunch special is only $5.75 for a big plate of food -- I had Kung Pao Chicken with pork fried rice and an egg roll -- it's tough to beat, especially if you're a nearby UConn student. Service was fast, although the server (attendant?) only jumped up from watching videos on her iPhone when someone walked in the door. All food is packed To Go, even if you plan on eating in the sparse dining room. Tremendous waste. Everything served in plastic dishes, packed in bags, then you walk five feet from the counter, unpack it all, and eat your meal -- then throw it all away. Speaking of that, if you're picking up take-out, be sure to grab your own condiments. Next to the thousand menus is a rack of duck sauce, hot sauce, mustard, napkins, plastic utensils, etc. I rarely eat at these kind of Chinese joints, but I was out past lunch time and had read some raves on Yelp about it. I could have opted for another plate of wings at the Bidwell, right around the corner. I'm glad I tried out Panda Garden. It was a good lunch. Seemed fresh and definitely hot, since I got it right out of the wok. And you can't beat the price. Worth a visit (or a take out) for sure. read more

This place is great, I have picked up take out from here several times when driving through Coventry and I have always been happy with the service and the food. I don't remember specifically what I had the other times, just that I was pleased! So, I will describe what I got tonight as an example. I got orange chicken, chicken fried rice, and an egg roll. I can tell this food is really fresh, it may be the freshest Chinese takeout I have ever had! The orange chicken: the sauce is tangy you can actually taste the orange zest in it, the chicken is perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. Its not soggy from sitting in sauce or tough from being fried wrong, (which is common with Chinese take out from many places). The rice: also looks, tastes, and feels very fresh. It is not over-cooked and the pieces of chicken in the rice are fresh and well cooked, too! The egg roll was crispy, hot, and not too greasy at all. I would highly suggest this place. read more

Worst meal ever. Trio Kung Pao. Says nothing about peanuts which they covered the top with. 2 pieces of shrimp. Barely any chicken or beef. Beef was real fatty, had to spit it out. Very good Chinese takeout for a small town like Coventry. I live much closer to (overpriced and gross) Dimitri's but I would rather drive the extra 5 miles to and back from Panda Garden.
