I don't live in Chicago. I stopped by the store on my way to the airport and picked out a bag to bring home to my wife. The staff were helpful in making the sale and brought it to me in a box in a bag. When I got home and gave it to my wife, the security tag was still on the bag. The saleswoman gave me her business card and has never responded to my messages. A month later I am back in Chicago and headed to the store today to get the security tag removed and share my experience with them in person read more

Terrible experience! Everything is wrong about this store! Apparently, no one can just come and shop there. You either need an appointment or you have to give your name and wait to get in, even if not interested to shop there. I needed to pick up the item that was already purchased, still the "security" ppl made me feel like I'm some kind of intruder. I waited outside the door for 15 minutes when they finally let me in. Meanwhile, 4 ppl left the store, so it wasn't lime it was crowded. So I asked if I can look around while I'm waiting for my item bought out of storage. The answer was "NO"! So I waited in one spot by the front door until an associate came out and brought my item in old wrinkled and deformed shopping bag, like it was reused several times....Needles to say, I left the bag there, took my stuff and just left! My SA, Melanie, was so very helpful and nice.I purchased the Medium Classic Flap bag (which happened to be the last one they had available at the boutique!) and Melanie was kind enough to hold it for me until I arrived. I brought my daughter and daughter-in-law to Chanel to buy them their first bag. The saleswoman who "took care of us" was awful. She wasn't at all helpful, and seemed to be glued to the floor behind the counter. I caught the eye of several sales associates, and their looks were quite telling. I should have approached one of these smiling associates instead of thinking the service was going to improve with time. It certainly didn't. Attitude doesn't work in sales, no matter what the price point is. I've purchased several bags from this store, but my latest experience drove me to Neiman's where the smiles were abundant, and the attitude was happy. Walked into the store with my husband to find a new bag for myself. The security greeted us and were very polite. I saw that a gaggle of SA's were standing in a corner, chatting and laughing. I began to look at a few pieces that I fancied, and no one ever assisted me or my husband. Even after making eye contact with several of them, still no one offered any help whatsoever. The middle-aged woman who did my makeup didn't seem to know how to put the stuff on herself - bad sign. But on top of that, she went so far as to tell me she didn't like how I did my regular makeup (a black cat eye): it was too heavy and gave me a 'sleepy' look. Um? I didn't want your opinion on my daily eye makeup. Just on the stuff I was trying on at your store. But hey, I'm part of the great unwashed! A few years ago, Chanel committed an atrocity. They discontinued "MY" fragrance - Chanel No. 22 parfum. You could still get it as an eau de toilette, but if you wanted the real thing...sorry, no dice! I waffled for about a year, making every drop of my No. 22 parfum last as long as possible. Finally it ran out, and I had a decision to make. Would I stick with my signature fragrance (albeit in watered down form) or would I jump ship and find something new? After many weeks of pondering (God, my life is SO hard!) I finally decided to go with the tried and true. So, I popped into the Chanel boutique around noon on a bright, busy weekday more out of defeat than anything else. Those lousy French! They were MANIPULATING me into buying the now-inferior No. 22. Well, I'd get it, but I wouldn't be happy about it. A salesgirl came up to me, and I requested a bottle of 22 EDT, pouting that what I REALLY wanted was the parfum, but boo-hoo, that wasn't going to happen. Poor me. "I know," she said gravely. "The parfum is so much better. There's really no comparison. I'm so sorry." I blinked. Someone understood! I wasn't crazy after all! Dazed, I collapsed in the nearest white leather chair. The wall of white and black handbags was suddenly soothing. I reclined back, sipped on the water she'd offered me, and relaxed in the sights and sounds of Chanel. The softly playing ambient techno, the muffled honk of traffic outside, the mother and daughter duo quietly speaking Japanese as they browsed....it all calmed my troubled soul. The sales girl came by with a check, and I signed it, forgetting to look at the total. A few minutes later she returned with a heavy ivory bag holding a mammoth bottle of 22 EDT and, as she explained, a few very small bottles to use while traveling. I thanked her and the other girls who had assisted her, and walked back out onto Michigan Ave, feeling a little bit better about things. I'd press on. I was a survivor. read more

I went in there to look for a gift for my mom and I had questions about a couple of their items. However, the asian lady who helped me was not very friendly and was rude. She started to give me attitude and her tone of voice changed. I left the store angry. If you work in a luxury brand name store, at least have some class and be nice to the customers. Out of all the times I've been there, this was definitely my worst experience. So thats why I gave it a one star. Besides this bad experience, the store gets a 4. Decided to walk into Chanel on a rainy Chicago day. The wait was about 10 mins. I was set up with Marlo as my sales associate. I told her I was looking for any mini bags and wallet-on-chains. There were no bags in stock of what I asked for. Whomp whomp. Marlo did show me the new smaller bags in for the season. I'm more of a classic Chanel lover, it was quite beautiful and very serene atmosphere. The best part of it all was Troy. If you go ask for him. He is the absolute best at reading you and picking what he knows you will love. I'm not rich... I work hard for my money.... but if I'm going to spend it... I want to spend it there for sure. I bought some stunning sunglasses and shockingly Troy found a new fragrance that I fell in love with based on my past likes. This is definitely my favorite designer boutique in Chicago. I bought a pair of ballet flats from here for my sixteenth birthday and the salesman was extremely helpful since they had to be specially ordered. This was years ago, but still today I receive the best customer service. Even the security guards are nice and make sure you are taken care of. I think every boutique should take a lesson from Chanel. I don't buy much here, but I receive great hospitality, even when I am just browsing. I went in today to see if they had a specific card case and when I decided to pass on buying one, I went and looked at the eyeshadows. The security guard made sure I got a salesperson to help me and she found me exactly what I was looking for. I received outstanding service, even if I didn't buy a $3,000 handbag. I left with the eyeshadow I wanted and a cute little shopping bag complete with Chanel ribbon & camellia flower. I will be back and will spend my money here instead of stores that have horrendous customer service (i.e. Christian Louboutin, and Barney's New York). read more

I love Chanel and went into the store in the winter of 2017 to purchase an item--I was undecided, but was later able to narrow down my options. Honestly, I loved everything in the store and the SA was helpful and knowledgeable... I ended with purchasing a WOC and absolutely adored it. The reason I'm giving 3 stars is due to my experience AFTER I left the store. My SA was awesome--or so I thought. I was also interested in a pair of shoes, but the store didn't have my size and color combo. They said they can locate one and have it shipped... my SA said to keep contact through texting... which I was very happy with that offer. Long story short, I tried following up with her and she replied once... but then after that, when I inquired on another pair of shoes, she never replied. I don't know why she wouldn't reply when I'm a serious buyer... I was excited to have an SA I could just text and purchase items through especially when new items came around. But I never got to that because I never heard back from her. It's just weird. I wish it ended differently. I haven't been back or called that store ever since. I'm keeping her name private, because the situation was weird and I want to give them the benefit of the doubt. She was great to me in store... just not through text. If management is interested in knowing, I can share the name with them. Otherwise, you should have a good in store experience... just not after ;o) read more

One of the best chanel boutiques i've been to in the US! I love to frequent the downtown location due to what they have in store. they have a lot more than department stores! and their service in phenomenal!!! i've never been mistreated in this store ever! I could be dressed however and they still treat me the same way! I have to say some SA's are not knowledgeable about their products but most are. It makes you think how they got a job there. lol anyways, i've never encountered bad service. SA's here are helpful and they will help you track down what you want. downfall about downtown is the tax rate! it's ridiculous! but they will be happy to do a charge send of whatever you want to your house to save on taxes! read more

The worst costumer service I've ever had. My advisor helping my wife and I was pretty nice, her name was Natacha. However here were the problems: the "Gestapo" security workers were breathing over our shoulders the whole time. My wife was trying on necklaces for over 3K and her mask accidentally fell below her nose a couple of times. The second it was below her nose, which she didn't even have time to fix, the Gestapo came right in front of my face and told us if her mask goes below her nose again we will be kicked out of the store. We felt offended!!!!. Also if you're planning to spend a lot of money there be aware that you only have 45 min. to complete your purchase and you will be reminded every 5 min how much time you have left. I went in with my husband in Christmas time to purchase a wallet. The boutique was quite busy, but we received a warm welcome by a nice lady who took our name and set us up with a fashion advisor, Mindy. Mindy offered us drinks, showed us different types of wallets, and answered our questions well. After we picked out a wallet, Mindy let us try on several beautiful watches. They were exquisite and we would consider purchasing them from her in the future. Overall, our visit was enjoyable and we were happy that we found a wallet that met the needs. read more

This boutique is at the Drake, I can't imagine a better location for a day of intimate shopping. The security guard to the Chanel associate ratio is probably 1:1. One thing is for certain, eyes are on you. In the middle of the hush hush environment and bulky biceps popping through black suits, a smile and a greeting rushes through the sea of masculine silence. It's Melanie. The associate who came to save you. She asks what you are looking for, and like the old European way of shopping, she examines her memory of what's in stock, your size, and returns with options you've never thought of or considered. There's so many lovely pieces to consider. The service is unlike anything I've experienced in America. I did not experience a hint of condescension or racism, and the manager of the store followed up with unexpected gifts in the mail. I am excited to begin a relationship with this boutique. I think they have something for everyone, for example, they offer the exclusif line of parfum's, which you won't find at Nieman, Sephora, or Macy's. (I asked around town for Beige and La Pausa). I thought I could only have an authentic Chanel shopping experience in Venice or London, but this boutique has been earning my loyalty, and may be my exclusive boutique in America because of the intimacy, comfort, and relationship with their wonderful employees. read more

i still remember the first CHANEL bag i bought myself for my birthday years ago. it's up there with the other big firsts - first date, first car, first kiss, first job, first orgasm, first apartment, first time i put foie gras in my mouth. * on the last day of my last trip to Chicago, i decided to spend the last few hours indulging in some retail therapy. i first went to the CHANEL store in Chicago in the dead of winter store so it's huge. it's one-stop CHANEL shopping. but snooty snooty service. and high eurotrash-to-space ratio. i didn't have too much time before my flight and after standing around waiting for someone to help me, i finally asked hot security robot guy to find someone for me. he looked at me like i was crazy. are these people not allowed to interact with customers or something? weird. this lady finally tried to help me, looking like she'd rather eat glass. the shoes i decided i couldn't live without 10 minutes ago were sold out in my size. fuck! irritated and hungry, i called this location about the shoes, stuffed a dirty water hot dog in my face, and cabbed it here in 5 minutes. wow, night and day. i was approached immediately and offered cappuccino and ice water. i sat on the comfy couch while the shoes were wrapped up and this super sweet lady showed me bags i might be interested in. i showed them the little tear in my chain strap on the CHANEL bag i was carrying and dude, they had a handbag doctor on site. i left my old bag with them to be repaired and left with a brand new bag and the killer shoes. few days after i got home, i received my repaired bag in the mail, all wrapped up like a new bag. they overnighted it free of charge. tears of joy. i say by all means, check out the North Michigan Ave. store for the selection and maybe for the hot security robots in suits. but if i'm going to drop this much dough on leather and chains, i'm going to require some ass-kissing. and for the love of coco, please don't wear your sweatpants and fanny packs here. this is CHANEL. a little respect. *not necessarily in chronological order/order of importance. read more

I come to Chicago at least once a year and the Chanel boutique is always a must stop for me. I was interested in bag that is new for the fall act 1 which I first saw it on the website. I started calling around to see if it was available and was told there was only one in the whole US at another boutique and could be sent to Chicago. However, this was in July and I was not coming until September, so I was certain it was not going to be available for my visit. Regardless, I had to ask and I got the answer I expected. So I looked around to see if anything else caught my eye. The major issue I have with not just the boutiques but any place that sells the handbags, the variety just isn't there (on display). The majority of the bags on display are boy style or traditional. Maybe that's what sells or maybe that's what they want to push. Although if you ask they have shelves categorized by color hidden by doors that they will show you. Unlike department stores that will ship anything to anyone with a credit card if you call, Chanel Boutiques have to have you in their system. All this means is you have to have purchased anything from that location. So I decided to get some eyeshadow which was my original intent for this review. I just got side tracked. Troy Young, my sales associate was very knowledgeable and showed me the newest shadows. They have a shimmer to them and I usually avoid shimmery because I am a little older and find that non-matte accentuate the lines and wrinkles, not the look I am going for. And usually stick with neutrals. Troy assured me these would not do that. He applied my chosen colors and I was surprised how great it looked. When I got home and did it myself I had the same result. It just adds a little shine. Now I want to purchase the others that have more color. I may have found the perfect shadow for my age. read more

I just want to start off by saying that I am not rich, so I was apprehensive stepping into Chanel. My goal was to get a gift for my sister with Chanel on the bag, price range up to $150. I wasn't sure how it all was going to go. My worries were unfounded when a fantastic sales woman (Elizabeth Taylor look alike!) came right up to me and asked to help. I've never had a bad experience at a Chanel boutique. Service was not as great as their Boston boutique, but I was still treated very well. I'm pretty sure they have the complete line of bags (not sure about ready to wear). I love their new and more edgier bags, but can't justify the cost of spending that much for something that I will love for a season! (See?? I'm practical :P). Their sales staff is great. I've tried calling for a status update and I keep getting told "a repair specialist will have to call you back, they are all busy right now". Once I hit the big time (big = out of the park Jack Brickhouse HEY HEY HEY!) , this will be my go-to place for the little black dress. In the meantime, I make do with just one, purchased a few years back on a whim when I happened to stop in for perfume. I found my dress amongst a rack of previous season markdowns. Black sheath, body-con, thought it'd be a bit snug but turned out perfect when accompanied by the right foundation garments. Hands down my favorite dress of all time. The SA was very knowledgeable about the line, and very patient in helping me pull the dress on and off. If you want the full bath & body line of any of the fragrances, this is the place to go. Don't dick around with Macy's Neiman's or Bloomies, because they only carry limited scents like No. 5 and Chance. The Boutique carries everything that Chanel still makes. And, if they don't have it in stock, they will get it for you. But back to the dress - where have I NOT worn it? It's been to funerals, weddings, job interviews, a polite date, a no-show date, a hockey game after work, spinnin' around shitfaced at the bar at The Green Mill after local pub crawl, and one Sunday mass at St. Bruno's. It is dry cleaned and always ready to go. Cuz, ya know, ya just never know when an occasion will come up. Haven't worn it to a ball game yet, but if I ever do wind up anywhere near center field, I imagine the WGN camera boys would manage to get a pin shot of my black misted Berkshire hosiery clad thoroughbred legs. Of course, it would probably have to be in the cheap seats at a Sox game. I may never get to visit Paris, but this dress more than makes up for it. And, when worn in sync with its white linen camellia flower pin, it provides the desired effect, should Cary Grant happen to drop in on hiatus from heaven. read more

The details in this store from the tweed printed tiles and carpet to the glossy displays with the beautiful bags would make anyone look in awe. It is nice to have security open the doors for you too! Chanel items are beautiful and very expensive, we all know that. I think this a fine location though. I have been to Chanel in NYC, London, Paris, Florence, and many more and second to Paris (go figure) this is one of the nicest stores. For me, customer service is a big part of my experience and it lacks here. When I brought back my blush brush that snapped in half I was harassed until I gave in to exchanging it. Regardless of a return policy, if your stuff breaks it, please the customer. They did not, and whether they care a lot or very little, as was made apparent to me, I will purchase my Chanel from Neiman Marcus from now on. The snooty attitude and rigidity is just not necessary when being an employee, even at Chanel, does't qualify you to look down upon others. read more

If I were going to drop two grand on a bag, it wouldn't be here. That being said, the staff at this boutique are truly fabulous which is why I give it 4 stars. When I went in to browse, one of the women told me all about the products, and I even learned that scientists have genetically engineered a new animal (chinchilla + rabbit) to make fur muffs that won't shed. I was aiming for a Le Boy handbag because I really wanna One. I looked around and tried on couples of handbags . The Chanel Boutique in Chicago is way more colorful and better than where we have ( Michigan) , we don't even have a Chanel Boutique, only Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth have a Chanel counters. Anyways, an asian SA noticed me and came up to help me. Her name is Winnie. She is Pro-Chanel SA because she has tons of knowledge about Chanel and she knows what I needed . I asked her about WOC ( wallet on chain) because I don't see them on display. Winnie took me to a counter and showed me WOC goodies at . I know WOC is "hard to get and gone super fast". I was eyes pooping and mouth drooling when I saw those goodies. Winnie showed me the collection of WOC. I finally decided to get a Red patent leather WOC. Thanks Winnie for helping .
